Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch Angle on Raw Was Reportedly Put Together a Long Time Ago by Vince McMahon

Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer (via PWMania) has an update on the backstage plans regarding Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch angle this week on Raw. As previously reported, the storyline featured Becky Lynch getting suspended indefinitely, and Charlotte Flair was slotted in as Lynch’s replacement against Ronda Rousey at WrestleMania 35.

Meltzer is quoted as saying: “The interesting thing here is that a lot of people think that Vince is doing this because he’s playing off the internet feeling that Charlotte is the company person and all that, so to get heat with people in that way, but in fact, that’s not the case. It’s just the story that was written before any of that stuff happened, so it wasn’t even that they were expecting it, it just worked out in their favor. This thing has basically been laid out a long time back.”

Now, before people in the comments start jumping on Meltzer, he has been reporting for quite some time that WWE was planning a Triple Threat match main event at WrestleMania 35 between Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch, and Ronda Rousey. This appears to be the path to that match based on the angle for Raw. So, his above quotes do sync with his previously reported rumor that the Triple Threat match has been the long-term plan for a while.
