Report: Renee Young will be part of commentary for Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia

Pro Wrestling Sheet is reporting that Renee Young will be part of the commentary team for this Friday’s WWE Crown Jewel event from Saudi Arabia.

The story, which was also being reported by Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer/Figure Four Online, stated it remains to be seen if Young will have to follow “certain guidelines or rules to follow because of the country’s numerous restrictions for women.”

As was the case with April’s Greatest Royal Rumble event, women will not be allowed to wrestle on the event. Women were previously not allowed to be part of the broadcast team for the first event in April, but it would appear that is changing this year.

If you recall, the Saudi General Sport Authority issued an apology shortly after the event after WWE aired a promotional video featuring female talent.

The statement read:

“The General Sport Authority would like to apologize to the viewers and attendees of last night’s WWE event that took place in Jeddah, over the indecent scene involving women that appeared as an ad before a segment. It would like to confirm it’s total disapproval of this, in the shadow of its commitment to eliminate anything that goes against the communities values. The authority has made sure to ban showing of any segment that involves women wrestling or any scenes related to it, and stipulated that to the company (WWE). The authority also disapproved any promotional stuff with pictures or videos showing women in an indecent way, and emphasized on commitment of this rule. And it’s a commitment that the authority would still commit to forever in all of it’s events and programs.”

All WWE talent involved with Crown Jewel were scheduled to begin travel today.

WWE advertising Hulk Hogan for Crown Jewel event this Friday in Saudi Arabia

According to the official WWE events page listing for Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia, newly reinstated Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan is being advertised for the event on Friday.

Hogan, who is now listed at the bottom, is among many names advertised for the event including Brock Lesnar, Triple H, Shawn Michaels, The Undertaker and Kane.

Hogan told the Orlando Sentinel last week that he was factored into plans at one point for Crown Jewel, among other plans for his reintroduction to WWE programming after he was officially reinstated into the company’s Hall of Fame back in July.

As reported earlier, all talent part of Crown Jewel were scheduled to leave today. John Cena and Daniel Bryan will not be part of that group traveling, as both reportedly refused to work the event in reaction to the death of journalist Jamal Khashoggi. Cena was replaced by Bobby Lashley in the World Cup tournament, while Samoa Joe will now challenge AJ Styles for the WWE Championship instead this Friday.

Opinionated View- Well what's a little racism on top of everything else

WWE Smackdown Preview

WWE Smackdown Live takes place tonight from Atlanta, Georgia.

Scheduled for tonight’s show is a face off between WWE Champion AJ Styles and Daniel Bryan. This segment will end up being fairly significant tonight after it was reported earlier today that Bryan will not be traveling to Saudi Arabia for Crown Jewel. Bryan was scheduled to challenge Styles for the WWE Championship this Friday.

Also announced is a Trick or Street Fight Match between Smackdown Tag Team Champions The Bar and The New Days, days before the tag title rematch at Crown Jewel.

WWE also teased the latest involving Jeff Hardy/Randy Orton/Rey Mysterio/The Miz and Smackdown Women’s Champion Becky Lynch retaining at Evolution.

Update on Daniel Bryan Not Working Crown Jewel

According to a report by PWInsider, Daniel Bryan will not be traveling to Saudi Arabia this week to take part in a previously scheduled WWE Championship match.

In something first reported by Robbie Fox of Barstool Sports, it was noted last week that Bryan was reportedly refusing to work the event, along with John Cena.

WWE confirmed during RAW last night that John Cena was officially pulled from Crown Jewel this Friday and replaced by Bobby Lashley in the World Cup tournament.

Bryan was scheduled to challenge AJ Styles for the WWE Championship this Friday at Crown Jewel, a match he earned after a win over The Miz at Super Show-Down.

WWE started making “alternative plans” as early as last week, according to the report today by PWInsider, when Bryan made it clear to WWE officials he wouldn’t be traveling to the event. While not confirmed, this was likely in response to the disappearance and later confirmed death of Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

As reported on last Thursday, WWE announced during the company’s Q3 2018 financial results that they would be going forward with Crown Jewel after facing a “very difficult decision.” HBO’s “Last Week Tonight” again profiled WWE this week and criticized the company for continuing on with the event, including a parody hype video.

It isn’t known this morning how WWE plans to handle the situation involving Bryan and Styles involving the scheduled WWE Championship match tonight on Smackdown Live. The company was still promoting the match during Sunday’s Evolution PPV, although at the time Cena was still advertised for the World Cup and then pulled the night night on RAW. Rusev has already been speculated as a potential opponent for Styles this Friday, although plans could always change in how they decide to approach things for tonight.

Already scheduled for tonight is the fallout from last week when Dean Ambrose and WWE Intercontinental Champion Seth Rollins defeated Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre to capture the RAW Tag Team Championships, only to see Ambrose turn on Rollins.

Tonight will also feature the build for this Friday’s Crown Jewel event in Saudi Arabia. Triple H, Shawn Michaels, The Undertaker and Kane are all scheduled for the taping and are expected to make an appearance to hype the show this week.

Also set for the show is the fallout from last night’s Evolution PPV, which saw Ronda Rousey successfully defend the RAW Women’s Championship against Nikki Bella and Nia Jax become the new No. 1 Contender by winning the Women’s Battle Royal.

New Details on EVOLVE & WWE’s Relationship

According to Pwinsider.com, EVOLVE Champion Fabian Aichner and new EVOLVE Tag Team Champions The Street Profits will be appearing on all announced EVOLVE dates going forward. The site notes that idea behind the NXT talent appearing on the EVOLVE events goes back to one of the original discussed ideas surrounding the NXT-EVOLVE relationship several years ago. That wass to give underutilized NXT talents somewhere else to work while also giving Gabe Sapolsky (who now also works for WWE) a chance to help develop them.

At one time there was discussion that EVOLVE would take over the NXT Florida loop, but WWE has now opted for NXT talents performing at EVOLVE events. EVOLVE is now allowed to feature these talents on their streaming service, WWE will likely have the rights to any of the material featuring their talent for their own library and may have access to the entire EVOLVE library, similar to the company’s deals with ICW and PROGRESS in Europe.

WWE Raw Preview

WWE RAW is live tonight from Charlotte, North Carolina.

Scheduled for tonight’s show is the fallout from last week when Dean Ambrose and WWE Intercontinental Champion Seth Rollins defeated Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre to capture the RAW Tag Team Championships, only to see Ambrose turn on Rollins.

Tonight will also feature the build for this Friday’s Crown Jewel event in Saudi Arabia. Triple H, Shawn Michaels, The Undertaker and Kane are all scheduled for the taping and are expected to make an appearance to hype the show this week.

NXT stars win EVOLVE championships on Sunday at EVOLVE 114 event in Florida

Three current NXT stars now hold EVOLVE championships.

Fabian Aichner defeated Shane Strickland on Sunday night at EVOLVE 114 in Ybor City, Florida to become the new EVOLVE Champion.

The Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford) defeated Chris Dickinson and Jaka to capture the EVOLVE Tag Team Championships.

This would seem to indicate the relationship between WWE and EVOLVE will continue on. Just last week it was reported that 205 Live star Mustafa Ali would be working upcoming EVOLVE events, while Velveteen Dream worked events this past September.

Opinionated View- Wow Gabe you are fucking idiot. You have pretty much told everyone that EVOVLE and WWN is Single A baseball. You didn't even get high level NXT talent you got some guy who has barley been on TV and Crime Time 2.0

Will Ospreay Removed From NJPW Power Struggle Card

Will Ospreay injured his ribs two weeks ago during his match with Chris Ridgeway on a Rev Pro/New Japan Global Wars event in Brixton, England, and NJPW took Will off the Road to Power Struggle tour to give him time to recuperate. The promotion then revealed that Ospreay would return to action at Power Struggle, in a match for the NEVER Openweight title against current champion Taichi.

However, New Japan Pro Wrestling has now announced that they have taken Ospreay off the Power Struggle card because of his injuries. NJPW posted the following on their official website, confirming Ospreay's absence from the November 3rd event in Osaka, Japan.

It is with a heavy heart that we must announce that Will Osprey will miss the event in Osaka on November 3rd (Sat). As such the NEVER Openweight Championship match has been canceled.

Having become injured in the UK, Will Ospreay has been undergoing treatment. However, his treatment has not progressed as quickly as we had hoped and unfortunately, he will have to miss the event on November 3 (Saturday) in Osaka Prefectural Gym (Edion Arena Osaka).

As a result, the NEVER Openweight Championship match (Taichi vs Will Ospreay), scheduled for the same event, will be canceled.

We offer our sincerest apologies to our fans who were looking forward to this championship match. Good luck Will, we look forward to your return at upcoming events.

Opinionated View- That is to bad I was really looking forward to seeing that match since it would be something different for the NEVER title scene plus the rumors are Ospreay beats Tahichi than faces Ibushi on 1/4. You do wonder how long Ospreay can keep his current style going?

Crown Jewel is a go for Saudi Arabia, WWE says company faced “very difficult decision”

WWE confirmed on Thursday morning in the company’s Q3 2018 Results report that the upcoming Crown Jewel event will take place as scheduled in Saudi Arabia next week.

The statement notes the company faced a “very difficult decision” following a “heinous crime committed at the Saudi consulate in Istanbul”, referring to the death of Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi in what Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan described as “premeditated murder” earlier this week.

For the last two weeks, WWE avoided making any specific mentions about Saudi Arabia when promoting Crown Jewel on television and event went as far as to remove any mention of the country from official listings and previews online.

The company received a tremendous amount of media backlash over the last two weeks as well for likely going forward with the show. Randy Orton and John Layfield both told the media last week that they didn’t think WWE should cancel the show.

The show is largely built out the return of Shawn Michaels to the ring for the first time since 2010, along with a World Cup tournament. A report this week indicated that John Cena informed WWE he wouldn’t be working the event despite being advertised.

You can read WWE’s full statement below:

“WWE has operated in the Middle East for nearly 20 years and has developed a sizable and dedicated fan base. Considering the heinous crime committed at the Saudi consulate in Istanbul, the Company faced a very difficult decision as it relates to its event scheduled for November 2 in Riyadh. Similar to other U.S.-based companies who plan to continue operations in Saudi Arabia, the Company has decided to uphold its contractual obligations to the General Sports Authority and stage the event. Full year 2018 guidance is predicated on the staging of the Riyadh event as scheduled.”

Opinionated View- Instead of Crown Jewel they should it WWE We Condone
I mean you had 2 sides to this issues Murders and Non Murders and Vince went to to the Murders

WWE Reportedly Scouting New Locations For WWE Crown Jewel

– WWE officials are reportedly looking for new possible locations for WWE Crown Jewel. Barstool Sports’ Robbie Fox reports that the company is “frantically scouting” new locations for a potential move.

The report notes that moving the location out of Saudi Arabia is not yet confirmed, but added, “the location and date are unquestionably in major jeopardy right now.”

Things are getting more difficult for organizations associated with the Saudi government as global scrutiny increases over whether the Crown Prince was involved in the death of journalist Jamal Khashoggi. As of now, the decision on whether to move the show or not will reportedly be made by tomorrow.

New Report Says Cena and Bryan Don't Want to Work Crown Jewel

Prior to last night’s WWE Raw, rumors started that John Cena and Daniel Bryan were refusing to work the WWE Crown Jewel event in Saudi Arabia on November 2nd.

Dave Meltzer reported on the most recent edition of Wrestling Observer Radio that he hasn’t heard anything about Bryan, but that at on point, the WWE creative team was told on Monday that Cena wouldn’t be taking part in the tournament and needed to be replaced. He was then advertised for the event during Raw. Meltzer also noted that the Saudi Arabia event is in jeopardy, and said that as things stand, it is a lot less likely to happen than it was last week.

WWE’s Decision On Holding Crown Jewel To Reportedly Be Made By Tomorrow

There has been a lot of negative media in regard to WWE running the Crown jewel event in Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia. According to The Wrap, a decision from WWE could come down as soon as tomorrow regarding the location of the major event.

“As of Monday, WWE was waiting for Turkey to announce details from its investigation into the killing of the Washington Post columnist before it makes a final call about whether to hold the event in Saudi Arabia, the insider said. The report is expected on Tuesday. Due to time zone differences, WWE will likely not have a decision before Tuesday night’s “SmackDown” episode. But the brass are expected to make a call on Wednesday. WWE could stay the course, despite inevitable criticism, or scramble to move the event to a new location. A third option, of course, is to cancel or postpone Crown Jewel.”

BREAKING NEWS: Roman Reigns Relinquishes Universal Championship Due To Leukemia

At the opening to this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw, WWE Universal Champion, Roman Reigns, announced that he is relinquishing his championship due to Leukemia.

Reigns started out saying that his real name was Joe, and that he has been dealing with Leukemia since he was 22 years and it is now back.

For those who are not aware of what Leukemia is, it is cancer that deals with blood cells.

Reigns made it was clear that he was not retiring. He said once he was to overcome this disease, he will be back home in the WWE. He left the Universal Championship in the middle of the ring, and walked to the ramp where Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose stood waiting for him, hugging him.
Opinionated View- Truly awful to hear. As I said on the coverage you can dislike Roman the performer but you should pray for Joe the man.

Main Event Feud On RAW Reportedly Has No End Game

In the latest edition of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter (via Ringside News), it was stated that the current RAW storyline between the Shield and the Dogs of War (Braun Strowman, Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre) has no end game.

They wrote: “The stuff with Strowman, McIntyre and Ziggler is stuff Vince and the writers are coming up with weekly with no end game. We’re not even sure if the end of Raw was to set up Strowman vs. McIntyre now, or it’ll be one of those heels break up and the next week they’re back together things that they do.“

Opinionated View- Does any feud in the WWE have an end game. Seems like guys just keep wrestling doing 50 50 booking until just out of no where they are feuding with other people.

Report: Update on Kevin Owens’ surgery and how long he will be out of action

WWE star Kevin Owens revealed on Twitter yesterday that he underwent surgery on not only one knee, but both of his knees this week.

Owens joked on Twitter after the surgery that they had a “2 for 1 sale” taking place.

While at the time the severity of the injury wasn’t known, F4WOnline is reporting that Owens could be out of action until late February/March and possibly as late as April.

POST Wrestling reported last week that Owens was written off television in preparation to take time off for surgery on his knee. It turns out Owens’ left knee had more damage than previously thought and that while the surgeries were described as “minor”, it will keep him out of action for longer than previously expected.

Report: Charlotte Flair being sued by ex-husband over claims in book, WWE issues statement

TMZ Sports is reporting that WWE star Charlotte Flair (Ashley Fliehr) is being sued by her ex-husband following claims she made in a book release from 2017.

Riki Paul Johnson, Charlotte’s ex-husband, claims that several false statements were made about him in the book “Second Nature”, including that he was “sterile and incapable of fathering children”, that the book contains “multiple false allegations physical and/or psychological abuse” and wrongly claims he was fired from two jobs over drug use.

Johnson is currently seeking more than $5 million in damages, specifically stating that he was painted as the villain in order to make Charlotte a “victim who overcame personal adversity and domestic abuse.” He also is also claiming WWE is liable as well for marketing the release of the book last September.

While Ric Flair declined to comment, WWE issued the following statement:

“We recently received what appears to be a merit-less lawsuit and we will vigorously defend ourselves.”

Report: Multiple members of WWE’s roster express “discomfort” performing in Saudi Arabia

Sports Illustrated is featuring an article looking at the media backlash to WWE moving forward with holding the Crown Jewel event in Saudi Arabia on November 2.

The article notes that multiple members of WWE’s active roster, “speaking on the condition of anonymity”, have expressed discomfort performing at the show.

These comments come just shortly after a report by CNN claimed the Saudis were preparing a report acknowledging the disappearance and death of Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi, describing it as an interrogation that “went wrong.”

While the actual story by Sports Illustrated doesn’t feature any direct quotes from WWE talent, it does highlight some recent business entities who have decided to pull out of Saudi Arabia, including Richard Branson’s Virgin Group.

Endeavor Content is set to pull out of its $400 million deal with Saudi Arabia in the wake of Khashoggi’s disappearance, while executives from Uber, J.P. Morgan Chase and Ford have stated they will no longer be attending the Future Investment Initiative conference.

Despite the media backlash in recent days, including a profile by HBO’s “Last Week Tonight”, WWE made it clear on Monday night that they are pushing forward with the event. While just yesterday any reference to Saudi Arabia was removed on WWE.com, the official schedule is back to listing the country.

Report: Petey Williams says Impact Wrestling is moving forward without Austin Aries

Petey Williams, a longtime TNA star and now Impact Wrestling producer, revealed on the Wrestling Perspective Podcast this week that former Impact World Champion Austin Aries has fulfilled all of his contractual obligations with the company.

If you missed it, Aries made headlines when he no sold the finish to Sunday’s Bound for Glory PPV after he was pinned by Johnny Impact to lose the championship. Aries immediately stood up, flipped off Impact executives and walked to the back.

It would now appear, according to Williams, his current contract agreement is done.

Excerpt courtesy of Wrestlezone.

“I was screaming at the headset, ‘Don’t shoot that!’ The bottom line is, with my history with Austin Aries, I’ve always liked him as a talent and as a person. Do I like to have him around? I have, yeah. He always has been here. He’s a great worker, but the problem is that he’s no longer under contract. He’s not here now. We’ve got to move forward. We’ve got to write some new stuff. Hopefully this just blows over. I understand it’s a hot topic now but our focus isn’t what happened last night.”

A report by Pro Wrestling Sheet stated that Impact executives were not aware Aries was planning to no sell the finish like that and walk out the way he did.

It should be noted the company staged a confrontation between Aries and Impact on Saturday at the Hall of Fame ceremony, so it is clear they are trying to blur the lines.

Aries was not at the Impact TV tapings on Monday night in New York City.

WWE Raw Preview

WWE RAW is live tonight from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Scheduled for tonight’s show is two WWE World Cup Qualifying Matches for the upcoming Crown Jewel event on November 2. These qualifying matches include WWE Intercontinental Champion Seth Rollins vs. RAW Tag Team Champion Drew McIntyre and Dean Ambrose vs. RAW Tag Team Champion Dolph Ziggler.

Also advertised for the show is RAW Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey responding to the attack from The Bella Twins last Monday night.

WWE is also teasing the possibility of a response from The Undertaker and Kane after Shawn Michaels announced he was coming out of retirement last week.

As reported earlier, WWE still intends on holding the Crown Jewel event in three weeks despite pressure to cancel the event based on comments over the weekend. A majority of the preview for RAW tonight is centered around the event still taking place.

At one point over the weekend, WWE had removed Crown Jewel from the company’s live event schedule. The show is now once again being listed online for November 2, but any references to Saudi Arabia or King Saud University Stadium has been removed.

Update on WWE Crown Jewel PPV event taking place in Saudi Arabia on November 2

In an update from our earlier report on Sunday, a number of sources within WWE has indicated to PWInsider that the company is still planning to hold the Crown Jewel event on November 2 in Saudi Arabia from King Saud University Stadium in Riyadh.

Despite an earlier report stating the show was removed from WWE’s live event calendar online, the show is now being listed, but without any details on a specific location. So it would appear WWE is doing it all it can avoid any references to Saudi Arabia.

John Oliver reportedly did a segment about WWE’s partnership with the Saudi Arabian government on his “Last Week Tonight” HBO show on Sunday night.

Report: Crown Jewel Pay Per View removed from WWE’s website calendar of events

According to a new report from PWInsider WWE has removed from their website calendar of events all references to the Crown Jewel event that was scheduled to take on November 2 in Saudi Arabia.

We reported last week after many media outlets reported of the sudden disappearance and murder of Saudi national and United States resident Jamal Khashoggi, a journalist for the Washington Post, there was increased pressure on WWE not to hold the event in that country.

As of this report, no official decision or statement has been made by WWE as to whether they will pull out of Saudi Arabia, move the show or cancel it all together.

Senators Want WWE To Hold Off On Crown Jewel

As we previously reported, WWE is receiving criticism for their deal with Saudi Arabia and the upcoming Crown Jewel show, particularly after the disappearance of Washington Post reporter Jamal Khashoggi, who is rumored to have been murdered in a plot from Saudi officials. WWE released a simple statement that they were “monitoring the situation.”

IJR spoke with several US Senators, who have urged WWE not to go forward with the show, or at least hold back until more facts are revealed.

Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) said: “This is a brazen assault on the freedom of the press and a slap in the face to the United States, if this murder occurred as it seems it did. I’d hope that they would be rethinking their relationship with the kingdom especially with respect to events coming up in the next weeks like [WWE Crown Jewel].”

Sen. Chris Coons (D-Del) said that WWE “should be taking a hard look” at its relationship Saudi Arabia in light of recent events, while Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) said “there should be a pause” in regards to the event.

Sen. Bob Menendez (D-NJ) added: “Private enterprise is private enterprise, different than a governmental entity, but because [Linda McMahon] is part of the president’s cabinet, it falls into the grey area where the administration really should give it some thought and maybe even prevail upon them not doing it.“

Opinionated View- Its the WWE as long as the oil money check clears they won't care. And I'm sure they will find some charity to tie up with and thus get some good coverage.

Updated on Lashley's Heel Turn

– The Wrestling Observer Newsletter has some details regarding Bobby Lashley, Lio Rush and their heel turn last Monday. Per the report, WWE officials had only decided earlier that day to turn them heel.

There was said to be a long discussion over whether Lashley would be better off right now as a heel or babyface, especially since the roster had just lost a top heel in Kevin Owens, who is currently out of action due to a knee injury. Owens is likely going to be out for around four months if his injury only requires a minor operation, but that time frame could be longer if he needs a major surgery.

Ultimately, WWE officials made the call to turn Lashley heel believing he’d be better off as a heel since the roster needs more of them. As a result, the turn happened very quickly, and WWE needed Lashley to “injure” Owens to write him off of TV.

Additionally, Lio Rush was said to have had an ear piece with Vince McMahon feeding him lines to deliver after the match.

Opinionated View- Well the real reason is they booked him so poorly as a face no fan would ever want to cheer him.

Missing Journalist Could Put WWE’s Deal With Saudi Arabia In Jeopardy

CNN reported that Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi, who criticized the Saudi regime, has been missing for over a week and Turkish officials believe he was killed at the consulate. The US has acquired conversations of Saudi officials talking about luring him into the consulate. It’s currently unknown if Khashoggi, a columnist for the Washington Post, is alive or dead.

Pro Wrestling Torch editor Wade Keller noted that this could be bad for WWE’s deal with Saudi Arabia. One of the congressman who spoke out against a relationship with the Saudis if the rumors are true is Senator Chris Murphy of Connecticut, WWE’s home state.

WWE held Greatest Royal Rumble in the country and is set to bring the Crown Jewel event there in November

Opinionated View- Vince already showed he was willing to toss aside the "women's revolution" for that Saudi money. I'm sure he Trips, and Steph will find a way to justify still do this show as long as the check clears.

NJPW Wrestlers Rumored To Be Unhappy With Management

In the latest Wrestling Observer, Dave Meltzer said that wrestlers in NJPW may be unhappy with management for making the work atmosphere less fun and more like a factory.

He said: “Let’s just say that the next few months are going to be very interesting. Some early contract offers made have raised some concern to go along with the issues mentioned in last week’s issue. While there is a lot of pride here for the quality of the matches stemming from the Kobe and Long Beach shows during what is usually the post-G-1 down period, and the great reaction to G-1 and its business success, but the new regime (Harold Meij and new General Manager Michael Craven) is very different and not experienced in dealing with wrestlers. There may be economics that we’re not aware of, but there was a lot about the U.S. expansion with enthusiasm, between the new dojo and running a regular California and West Coast second circuit (which I don’t think would have been a good idea) and the pull back from there, and other changes. But it feels like a lot has changed in the last 30 days. Craven, who is believed to be the head of talent relations as well as international expansion, may be the most unpopular guy among the wrestlers with the new regime. Craven I believe was the Tech Business Director at Hays Japan, managing technology recruitment for a company and had worked in IT recruitment for 20 years. He has lived in Japan since 1998, coming from the U.K. and has been involved in developing many of the top senior level technology executives in Asia. The initial reaction was that the feeling was that he talks down to the wrestlers and made strange comments and they know he has no background in wrestling, which is a very unique industry. Morale with the company was very high as you could tell by any interviews with the talent, particularly during G-1 where the level of work had led to high pride across the board with the feeling they were doing the best matches in the world and producing the best overall product. Now the morale is more weird than anything, with more uncertainty about what will happen next and less confidence than with the old administration. Another person noted that the new team has gotten off to a rough start and that all the wrestlers, both Japanese and American, are talking about how they feel like they are seen as workers in a factory assembly line as opposed to high level athletes or entertainers. The excitement so many had for working here has taken a hit. It’s really a bad time for that with the goal of international expansion and that fun vs. WWE money was a key to a lot of people, but if you lower the fun aspect, that changes the equation, and basically we’re coming in on the single most interesting and important contract season since New Japan started garnering some international growth. There are people who in the past had never even considered WWE who are thinking about it, and others who were completely committed to staying who are probably still leaning that way, but are considering the WWE option.

New Speculation on Stephanie McMahon’s Role at WWE Evolution

Joe Peisich and Barnburner’s No Holds Barred podcast (via Ringside News), shared same potentially big news regarding Stephanie McMahon’s role at WWE Evolution…

Stephanie will be a part of history in the making she’ll debut Tag Team Titles. Again, this could change but from what I hear Stephanie will be a big part of debuting the Tag Team Ladies Title at Evolution.”

Report: Kevin Owens scheduled to take time off from WWE due to an upcoming surgery

The angle on RAW this past Monday night in Chicago involving Bobby Lashley attacking Kevin Owens appears to have been done for a very good reason.

John Pollock of POST Wrestling is reporting that Owens is scheduled to under surgery on his knee and will be requiring time off from WWE’s schedule as a result.

While the initial report described the injury as minor, details on an evaluation of the knee still were not fully known and how much time Owens will be out of action for.

Backstage Details on What Happened With Liv Morgan’s Concussion on Raw

According to The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the referee didn’t realize that Liv Morgan was injured when Brie Bella kicked her in the face on last week’s Raw. Morgan kicked out of a pin attempt on instinct, and Brie thought that she was ok, which is why she tried to drag her to the corner, where Morgan’s legs went out from under her and it was then that everyone in the match realized she was injured.

Morgan did return for a six-person suplex spot, but referee warned her not to get in the ring but she said she was fine and did the spot. She got rocked during that spot and was dizzy. WWE officials backstage at the Gorilla Position also didn’t realize how badly she was hurt. Dr. Christopher Amann and other backstage medics came to the ring to check on Morgan while the match continued, distracting the ref, who missed a pin attempt, leading to Brie Bella yelling for his attention. Ruby Riott went to ringside to talk with Morgan and Amann as soon as the match ended.

Former WWE star Neville returns to wrestling at Dragon Gate event today in Tokyo

Former WWE star Neville (Benjamin Satterley) made his return to wrestling earlier today in Tokyo, Japan at a Dragon Gate event at Korakuen Hall.

Neville, going under his former ring name of PAC, joined the R.E.D. stable teaming with Eita to defeat Shingo Takagi and BxB Hulk during the main event.

The former NXT and two-time WWE Cruiserweight Champion spent nearly a year away from wrestling after quietly departing WWE last year.

Back in August, it was reported that Neville was no longer under contract with WWE. Paul “Triple H” Levesque didn’t have an answer during an NXT media call a week earlier regarding Neville’s current status with the company going forward.

After the main event concluded at today’s Dragon Gate event, Neville said he was back and asked if the fans remembered him. He said that while he may resemble someone they once knew, he is now a very different man and that was bad news for Takagi.

Dragon Gate has already announced that he will be back on November 6 at Korakuen Hall. Working under his ring name of PAC, he debuted for Dragon Gate back in 2007. He would go on to sign with WWE in 2012 where he remained under a deal until last year.
