If you were surprised by the the debuts of Ricochet, Aleister Black, Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano during last night’s episode of RAW, you weren’t the only one. Ringside News reports that no one backstage knew about the call-ups in advance and no one knew it was going to happen until the announcement was made on RAW. There was no discussion or long-term planning, even the night before at Elimination Chamber. Some of the stars who were most surprised included the NXT stars that just debuted in January, but haven’t been used consistently.
Ringside News also reports that this has caused some trepidation for some on the roster, as they are worried that they’ll lose their spot with so many new names coming up from NXT. That includes recently called-up talents and some of the more long-term mid-card superstars. Some are worried that they’ll be passed over by creative and have someone coming for their spot. However, there wasn’t said to be any resentment over the situation, just concern as the superstars pay closer attention to their spot on the roster.
