Tommaso Ciampa Suffering From Neck Injury That Caused Raw Rewrite

WWE had to rewrite Raw due to the fact that Tommaso Ciampa is suffering from a neck injury that has him unable to compete. PWInsider reports that Ciampa and Johnny Gargano were originally set to be part of a four-way tag team match that would have included Zack Ryder & Curt Hawkins, Aleister Black & Ricochet and another team. The Revival would have been at ringside for the match. Once it was clear that Ciampa couldn’t be cleared, the match was changed to The Revival vs. Black and Ricochet.

The injury is said to be one that has been lingering for at least four to five weeks and possibly more. Ciampa is not on the road this week and it’s not clear when he is going to be cleared. However, and Gargano are part of the Dusty Rhodes Classic and of course Ciampa is the NXT Champion, so his being out could have a big impact on NXT storylines.

The site says that all options are currently on the table, but that as of Monday he was not medically cleared.

Opinionated View- Notice this happens a lot? They call a guy up who has been on the Indys and that put in NXT for a long time and than they get hurt. Why do they keep putting guys in NXT? Oh right to fed Triple H's ego of his third brand.

WWE Officials Reportedly Expect Fans To Boo Roman Reigns Again

Roman Reigns made his return on this Monday’s episode of RAW and outside of one obnoxious fan, the reaction was almost unanimously positive. He announced his leukemia was in remission to a huge ovation and later came out to save Dean Ambrose to cheers. However, WWE officials reportedly don’t expect this goodwill from fans to last. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (via Ringside News), it’s believed that once Roman is back to being pushed as the top babyface again, fans will once again start to boo him on television.

The report reads: “As far as what is next. Nobody can predict the future and many people feel things will eventually revert to being what they were before, with Reigns as the top babyface being constantly booed on television shoots.

Opinionated View- Here is the thing I am not a Roman Reigns fan. But I do think there are way to limit people booing him. You have to book correctly. Don't go back to forcing him into the top spot simply because he's Vince's chosen one. Let his return to the main event make sense and get built to. Don't just make him super man that can over come it all have him "struggle" and be real because when over comes said struggle it will make him more popular. And don't sacrifice everyone use just to build up Roman.

WWE Superstars Rumored to No Longer be Scared About Being Vocal Toward Management

Speaking on The Wrestling Observer Radio  this week, Dave Meltzer discussed how WWE Superstars are less scared about being vocal to management and complaining than they apparently were before. There’s reportedly an idea now in the WWE locker room that Superstars who complain more will be given some type of push on TV.

One example of this idea could possibly be The Revival. As previously reported, the team was rumored to be unhappy with their booking on Raw, and the duo requested their releases. However, just a few weeks later, The Revival won the Raw tag team titles, giving them their first titles on the main roster.

It should also be noted that WWE producer Adam Pearce wrote in a series of tweets this month about the “squeaky wheel” getting replaced. However, he reacted defensively when it was asked if the tweets were wrestling related.

Opinionated View- WWE you reap what you sow. You wanted this world where everyone under contract to you one way or another. Yet at the same time you destroyed the tag divsion, the mid card and pretty much have made it clear unless you are golden child pre chosen by the company you have almost no chance of moving up. Instead of building long term stories and talent up you go for a cheap nostalgia pop when ever possible.

Well now there the the option of AEW, Impact is back on solid ground and if you listen to Jericho and see what they are doing they are willing to spend and give you the option to take indy dates. ROH is trying to grow, MLW is doing well. New Japan is going to need and want well known American talent especially with the G1 show in Dallas looming. The tipping point is here people.

Madison Rayne parts ways with Ring of Honor and is officially a free agent

PWInsider is reporting that Madison Rayne is parting ways with Ring of Honor after receiving a contractual release from the company.

Rayne, a former four-time TNA/Impact Knockouts Champion, had just signed an exclusive deal with ROH last September to be part of the company’s women’s division. She had just priored wrestled for Impact in 2018 and also was part of the ALL IN event in Chicago.

The report cited “unhappiness” in regards to creative direction for her departure from ROH. Both sides reportedly met and a decision was made to part aways.

Rayne is now officially a free agent.

Opinionated View- ROH in my opinion didn't use her well at all. She mostly was used a fill in to 3 or 4 ways and than her team with Britt Baker vs. the Twisted Sister. And just over all WOH has been so poorly run it feels more like it's ROH trying do do Joshi. I hope she winds up back in Impact or AEW.

WWE Changed Plans For Roman Reigns During Last Night’s Raw

Plans on how to use Roman Reigns on last night’s episode of Raw changed during the show, according to a new report. Ringside News reports that Reigns was originally not planned to get physical with anyone during this week’s show, but that after the opening segment, Vince McMahon decided to have him get physically involved in the run-in save for Dean Ambrose while Ambrose was getting attacked by Baron Corbin, Bobby Lashley, Drew McIntyre and Elias.

According to the site, the decision to have Reigns get directly involved came after Dean Ambrose chose not to come out during the opening segment when Reigns said he was cancer-free. Ambrose was very emotional backstage and McMahon decided to use this to fuel the tease for the Shield reunion.

The Shield are expected to appear at Fastlane in some capacity after last night’s tease.

Jeff Jarrett and GFE file second lawsuit over Impact deleting 16 hours of GFW footage

PWInsider is reporting that Jeff Jarrett and Global Force Entertainment have filed a second amended lawsuit against Anthem and Impact Wrestling over Anthem’s recent admission that they had deleted 16 hours of Global Force Wrestling Amped footage.

The 33-page lawsuit alleges Anthem prevented Jarrett and GFE from filing copyrights on the GFW Amped television footage adding, “The last remaining step in the registration process is submission of deposit copies, which GFE cannot provide to the Copyright Office due to Defendants’ unlawful possession and/or deletion of the only master recordings of the 16 one-hour GFW Amped videos.  Defendants admit that the master recordings were deleted while in their custody and no longer exist.”

As part of the amended lawsuit, a response from Anthem (filed on November 30, 2018) revealed that the footage has now been deleted when answering a previous request from Jarrett and GFE to produce specific documents and information.

“The sixteen one-hour Episodes of Global Force Wrestling Amped content sought in this question no longer exist.  It was deleted in the normal course of business, long prior to the onset of this litigation, in order to free up storage space on Anthem Wrestling’s systems.”

The amended lawsuit values the GFW Amped TV footage as being worth $300,000 per episode, alleging a loss of nearly $4.8 million in connection with the master tapes being deleted by Anthem Wrestling (the parent company of Impact Wrestling).

The Honky Tonk Man is the second inductee into Class of 2019 WWE Hall of Fame

A second inductee is now confirmed for this year’s WWE Hall of Fame.

WWE announced on Tuesday morning that one of the longest-reigning Intercontinental Champions in company history, The Honky Tonk Man, will be inducted into the Class of 2019 WWE Hall of Fame during WrestleMania 35 weekend this April.

Excerpt from WWE’s write up about Honky Tonk Man’s career:

With slicked-back hair and long sideburns reminiscent of a certain rock ‘n’ roll icon, The Honky Tonk Man first arrived on the scene in WWE in 1986 with a wide-eyed smile on his face, trying to earn the adulation of the WWE Universe. But WWE fans didn’t quite take to the Elvis lookalike, despite the stamp of approval from Hulk Hogan, as they jeered the newcomer relentlessly. A frustrated Honky Tonk Man called for a vote of confidence from the WWE Universe, and when the results came back overwhelmingly negative, the rockabilly wrestler snapped.

By hook or by crook, The Honky Tonk Man held onto the Intercontinental Championship for nearly 13 months before his reign ended in lightning-quick fashion at the hands of Ultimate Warrior at SummerSlam 1988. His record-breaking 454 days as Intercontinental Champion is a feat that has stood the test of time, as no Superstar has come close to eclipsing his unprecedented championship reign.

This year’s Hall of Fame ceremony will be held on Saturday (April 6) at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, with NXT TakeOver: New York taking place the day before.

D-Generation X (Triple H, Shawn Michaels, Billy Gunn, “Road Dogg” Jesse James, X-Pac and Chyna) were announced as the first inductees last week.

Rumor on Return of Roman Reigns and Fastlane Event (POSSIBLE SPOILERS)

– As previously reported, former WWE Universal champion Roman Reigns is slated to make a return tonight on Raw with a big announcement. The announcement is being kept a secret. However, a report from Fightful.com says that a source has claimed that all the members of The Shield will be present at WWE Fastlane next month. The source didn’t explain the significance of such a statement or if this means WWE is planning another Shield reunion.

The Shield last broke up some months back when Roman Reigns announced his hiatus to get treatment for leukemia. However, booking for Dean Ambrose appears to have shifted in recent weeks, and he appears to be acting like a face character again.

As previously noted, WWE recently confirmed that Dean Ambrose intends to leave the promotion after his current deal expires in April after WrestleMania 35.

Details on Argument That Led to Arn Anderson’s Release and Its Impact on Roster

Fightful has a new report with details on the disagreement with Vince McMahon that caused Arn Anderson’s release from WWE. Anderson was announced as being released from the company on Friday, and Fightful backs up the report yesterday claiming that it was over an incident with McMahon.

According to the site, a source said that McMahon spoke with Anderson during the disagreement in such a way that most have never seen before. Triple H has been serving as a peacekeeper between Anderson and McMahon for some time, as there has been bad blood between the two for a while now. As noted yesterday, Anderson is well-liked by Triple H, John Cena and other key people backstage.

The release of Anderson is expected to cause a blow to the company’s morale, and several producers have been taking sides over the incident. Several members of the roster are upset about the situation. That said, some believe that once things calm down, Anderson will be brought back on.

Anderson had been with WWE for eighteen years as a producer and road agent.

WWE’s Producer Hirings Part of Performance Center Expansion Plans

WWE’s recent spate of hiring producers is part of the company’s plans to expand their Performance Centers on a global level. A report by Fightful.com says that the hiring of Shane Helms, Chris “Abyss” Parks, Jeff Jarrett, Shawn Daivari, and Sonjay Dutt is driven heavily by the company’s goals of establishing Performance Centers on a global basis.

Triple H has not been shy about mentioning plans to turn the NXT brand into a global brand, and Performance Centers are becoming a big part of that. Part of those expansion plans include India and Jarrett, Dutt and Abyss all have experience working there due to their involvement in TNA’s production of Ring Ka King in 2011 and 2012. With more producers on the company’s payroll, it cuts down on their need to bring them in as “guest trainers.”

The site also notes that there have been shifts in production, human resources and marketing research over the last several months. Those moves are relasted to the global expansion plans and mean that some people behind the scenes are relocating as they take on roles in NXT.

SPOILER: Names backstage at tonight’s Monday Night RAW taping in Atlanta

PWInsider is reporting that a number of names are backstage for tonight’s Monday Night RAW from Atlanta, Georgia, airing live in a little over two hours.

Sting, Shawn Michaels and Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat are all backstage at RAW tonight and are expected to take part in a segment for Ric Flair’s 70th birthday.

Charlotte Flair, who may take part in the segment with her father, is also backstage along with Becky Lynch meaning a potential segment is possible between the two.

It should be noted that Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is currently in Atlanta filming the sequel to “Jumanji.” As reported earlier, Johnson surprised fans in Atlanta over the weekend during a screening for “Fighting With My Family.” As of now, Johnson is not backstage at the RAW taping despite being local.

The same report noted that Dave Bautista is also in Atlanta filming a movie. It was reported a few weeks ago that Batista is back in talks with WWE about a potential return to the company, including a potential match at WrestleMania this year.

Vince McMahon Said To Be Looking For A ‘Yes Man’ Backstage

Over the weekend, we reported that WWE hired back Bruce Prichard in a top creative team role and he’ll begin his new job at tonight’s RAW taping in Atlanta. It was speculated that Prichard was hired back because he was part of the creative team during WWE’s most popular period and Vince McMahon is hoping to recapture the company’s former glory. However, Bryan Alvarez of Wrestling Observer Live (via Ringside News) said that McMahon is actually just looking for a “yes man” backstage.

He said: “I do know that I have heard from people who have concluded that what Vince really wants right now is a ‘yes man’ who is just going to tell him yes to all of his ideas.”

Triple H went against McMahon last week when he fought to get the script changed so Finn Balor vs. Ricochet didn’t happen. His reasons at the time were that Ricochet was making his debut and Balor just won the Intercontinental title, so a loss would have hurt both guys. McMahon is looking for someone to take his side and reportedly believes Prichard will be that person.

Details On Why WWE Granted Tye Dillinger His Release

It was reported over the weekend that WWE had granted Tye Dillinger his release after he requested it publicly with a post on social media. Dillinger’s release was announced along with TJP and Hideo Itami. WWE has reportedly been trying to lock talent into new deals, but it seems they were fine with Dillinger leaving. According to Rajah, Dillinger was not considered a “make or break” talent in WWE and was considered disposable by WWE officials.

Dillinger’s contract will likely have a ninety-day non-compete clause, which would make him available for AEW’s Double or Nothing event in May. He is reportedly friends with Cody Rhodes, who actually commented that any company would benefit from having Dillinger on their roster.

Bruce Prichard Started Working for WWE Again Last Month

– As previously reported, Bruce Prichard is set to return to the WWE in a full-time creative role as part of the creative team. However, it appears Prichard actually started working with WWE again much earlier. According to Dave Meltzer on The Wrestling Observer Radio (via WrestlingInc.com), Bruce Prichard had actually started traveling with WWE again and working as a backstage consultant since January.

Additionally, the deal to bring back Prichard in a significant, full-time creative role in WWE was reportedly finalized last Friday (Feb. 22). The idea to have Prichard take on a full-time creative position in the company again was first mentioned early last week. Per the Observer, the idea was said to be “well received.” It got to the point that Prichard is reportedly going to work as the right-hand man for Vince McMahon and work as a “very key guy” in a creative capacity for WWE.

Vince McMahon Reason for Reviving XFL Revealed in Lawsuit Filing

Sports reporter Darren Rovell in a series of tweets today hinted at the catalyst for what potentially motivated Vince McMahon to relaunch the XFL, which is slated to make its return in 2020. Some new information on the XFL was revealed in a lawsuit filed against the Alliance of American Football (AAF) and Charlie Ebersol by Robert Vanech. Vanech is saying it was his idea to come up with the AAF and is entitled to 50 percent ownership. Vanech is claiming that many of his ideas for the league are being credited to others.

The lawsuit filing stated that the original plan for the AAF was to use the XFL name and purchase all the XFL assets from WWE and NBC for $50 million. The AAF officials met with Vince McMahon, and then he simply decided to ultimately restart the XFL on his own rather than take the deal.

Charlie Ebersol is the son of former NBC Sports Executive Dick Ebersol, and he also directed the ESPN 30 for 30 documentary on the XFL.

Arn Anderson Reportedly Had Incident With Vince McMahon Prior To Release

Arn Anderson was released from the WWE on Friday, after eighteen years as a road agent and producer for the company. However, this was not due to WWE’s recent hiring of new producers or Anderson retiring or anything like that. In fact, Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio (via Ringside News) says that AA was fired after an incident over a house show with Vince McMahon.

He said: “Arn got fired. It’s an incident, I mean everyone is pretty much keeping quiet about what it was, but it was an incident with Vince. I know people who are siding with Arn. I know people who are siding with Vince. I don’t know the whole details of the incident other than it was something at a house show that evidently wasn’t handled well and Arn took the blame for that. Arn and Vince were not really on the best of terms. There had been a lot of situations over the years and another one not too long ago. You know the thing with Arn is he’s well-liked by key people — Triple H, John Cena, you know he’s John Cena’s agent.“

Bruce Prichard returning to WWE as a member of the creative team starting Monday

PWInsider is reporting that Bruce Prichard has agreed on terms for a full-time return to WWE as part of the company’s creative team.

Prichard is expected to start as early as this the RAW taping this Monday night in Atlanta. He was let go back in 2008 after spending 16 years with WWE, in a role where he reported directly to Vince McMahon and was described as one of his “top lieutenants.”

He transitioned to a backstage role with TNA Wrestling in 2010, later parting ways in 2013. Prichard briefly returned to the company in 2017 after it was purchased by Anthem following the success of his “Something to Wrestle with Bruce Prichard” podcast.

Prichard’s podcast, along with Conrad Thompson, would go on to become of the most popular wrestling podcasts out today. WWE ended up creating a spin off version of the podcast for the WWE Network, supported by exclusive WWE footage.

What this means for his podcast going forward remains to be seen.

Steve Corino Transitions Into WWE Producer Role

Former ECW World champion Steve Corino has updated his official Twitter profile to show that he is now a part of WWE in a producer role. Previously, he has worked as a coach for NXT. According to PWInsider, Steve Corino is producing for the main roster and made the transition about several weeks ago.

It appears he only changed his social media profile in the last few days since the switch. Corino’s tasks include working on the booking and production for both Raw and Smackdown live events. Per the report, he replaced Jamie Noble on the team that works the live events, which also includes Michael Hayes and Joey Maloney. Jamie Noble is reportedly still with WWE, but the change gives him more time to work on other WWE responsibilities.

Previously, Corino worked on the production side of live events for NXT in Florida. His new role as a WWE producer is said to be similar, just on a larger scale with the Smackdown and Raw house shows. Other wrestling talents who have joined WWE in producer roles include WWE Hall of Famer Jeff Jarrett, Abyss, Sonjay Dutt, and Hurricane Helms.

Numerous Releases By WWE Today

F4WOnline is reporting that Arn Anderson is no longer with WWE.

In a story first reported by Pro Wrestling Sheet, Anderson was let go after spending time with WWE for nearly 18 years, signing shortly after the closing of WCW in 2001.

No details are known at this time as to why Anderson was let go. He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame back in 2012 with The Four Horsemen.

The company did sign a number of new backstage producers, something WWE profiled in a new video featuring Jeff Jarrett, Chris Parks (Abyss), Sonjay Dutt, Shawn Daivari and Shane “Hurricane” Helms. So it’s possible WWE decided to move in a new direction.

In items both reported over the last few weeks, WWE confirmed the releases of Hideo Itami and Tye Dillinger from the roster on Friday afternoon.Earlier this week, Dillinger issued a statement on Twitter announcing he had requested his release from the company after nearly six years with WWE.

In late January, news broke that Hideo Itami had also requested a release from WWE and would be granted it. An episode of #205Life profiled his final weeks in WWE.

After confirming the already public departures of Hideo Itami and Tye Dillinger earlier today, WWE announced the release of former Cruiserweight Champion TJP. TJP, who won the Cruiserweight Classic back in 2016 and captured the vacant Cruiserweight Championship, signed with the company that same year. He remained an active member of the company’s weekly 205 Live program. He previously spent time as part of the TNA roster (as Manik), along with working for EVOLVE, GFW, ROH, PWG, New Japan Pro Wrestling and various other promotions. Just earlier this week, TJP had answered a tweet from a fan asking “how soon” we would see him with AEW. Perkins expressed zero interest in signing with the upstart wrestling promotion, although that could always change now that he is a free agent.
