WWE Reportedly Trying to Lock Talent Into New Deals

WWE is reportedly trying to lock down talents into new contract deals following the Dean Ambrose choosing not to renew his contract. PWInsider reports that WWE officials were meeting with talent whose deals will expire in the next couple of years, seeking to get them to sign new five-year deals similar to the ones that Miz and Kevin Owens signed last year.

The site says it appears as if Ambrose’s departure — and the possibility of him going to AEW — was the impetus for the activity at Smackdown. PWInsider adds that several roster members “were in amazement” as they saw it all unfold. WWE confirmed publicly that Ambrose would be leaving after his contract expires post-WrestleMania.

Opinionated View- WWE has seen The Elite make themselves stars without them at all. They now have this new company with huge and major buzz starting up. Unhappy talent seems to be doing all they can leave. Its Panic Time!

ROH Signs Ian Riccaboni to New Multi-Year Deal After AEW & WWE Show Interest

– Announcer Ian Riccaboni has confirmed that he’s signed a new multi-year deal with Ring of Honor. Riccaboni posted to Twitter noting that he’s signed a multi-year with the company, confirming a report from PW Torch.

The Torch notes that Riccaboni’s old contract had an opt-out clause that would have allowed him to negotiate with other promotions, and both WWE and AEW had interest in him. However, Riccaboni preferred to stay with the company and signed his new deal

.@ringofhonor means the world to me; the wrestlers, the crew, and the fans. We're a family.

I approached our office and producers about staying. They shared the same sentiment.

I am excited to announce that I signed a mult-year deal to stay with ROH. Happy wrestling, indeed!

The WrestleMania 35 Main Event Is Reportedly Decided

According to a new report, WWE has decided on their main event match for WrestleMania 35. Sports Illustrated says that according to sources close to WWE, the current plan is to have Ronda Rousey vs. Becky Lynch be the main event of this year’s big PPV. The report does not mention anything about Charlotte Flair, who was the original plan for Rousey’s opponent and was recently named as a possible third person in a triple threat match for the event.

Lynch, of course, made her plans to challenge Rousey for her title clear on this week’s episode of Raw. There has been speculation for a while that this match would be the main event for the show, and that seems increasingly more likely.

WrestleMania 35 takes place on April 7th at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

Dream went for the same elbow finish, but misses and Gargano applies the Gargano Escape. Dream taps and Gargano celebrates with the belt on stage. So it’s possible they filmed two endings to throw off spoiler reports.

– All Elite Wrestling (AEW) announced today that the upcoming Ticket Announcement Party for the promotion’s first event, Double or Nothing, will be streamed live online next month. Update on Halftime Heat Getting Live Broadcast

– WWE did not tape the Halftime Heat show at last night’s NXT TV tapings in Orlando, Florida. That would seem to suggest that WWE’s plan is to air Halftime Heat live from the WWE Performance Center on Super Bowl Sunday. If this is the case, it will be the first time WWE broadcasts a live show from the Performance Center.

PWInsider reports that no mention was made of fans being able to attend Halftime Heat at the TV tapings. It seems due to issues with fans at the Performance Center in the past, WWE does not want to encourage fans to go to the Performance Center.

The Halftime Heat show is slated to feature a six-man tag team match with Ricochet, Aleister Black, and Velveteen Dream vs. Adam Cole, NXT champion Tommaso Ciampa, and North American champion Johnny Gargano.

Women’s Royal Rumble Match Went Through Changes Due to Spot Timing Issues

The Wrestling Observer (via Sportskeeda) reports that WWE had to make some changes for the women’s Royal Rumble match at last Sunday’s event due to some timing issues. Per the report, since some of the Superstars didn’t make their spots in time, so some of the spots had to be dragged out in accordance with the size of the entrance way.

This would apparently explain why some of the entrances for the women’s Rumble match took longer than the ones for the men. The women’s Royal Rumble match did end up going about 72 minutes. Meanwhile, the men’s Royal Rumble match went just over 57 minutes. So, this could be one explanation for why the women’s match ended up going so much longer this year.

Chris Jericho’s AEW Contract Value Reportedly Shocked People in WWE

– Word of the value on Chris Jericho’s All Elite Wrestling contract has reached WWE, and reportedly shocked them. Wrestling Observer Radio reports that people backstage in WWE learned about the numbers of Jericho’s AEW deal and were “stunned” by its size.

Dave Meltzer noted that the contract isn’t considered on par with John Cena or Brock Lesnar, but would be near the top of WWE’s paylist. AEW is being bankrolled by billionaire Shahid Khan, and the way Meltzer puts it makes it sound like the company isn’t sparing much expense to get talent on board.

Opinionated View- Well Jericho has said its the biggest deal of his career. And spending money sends the message they are serious. Plus it sends a message to all talent they are legit as an option to make a living.

https://www.facebook.com/RealWrestlingNewsAndOpinionatedViews/

New Details on How Plans Changed for Raw Women’s Title Match at WrestleMania 35

According to Meltzer, the ending for Flair vs. Rousey at Survivor Series was the same booking plan for the ending of the match when it was going to be Lynch vs. Rousey, with Flair going berserk with a kendo stick. The reaction to the match apparently caused WWE to change their plans once again.

At one point, WWE wanted to book Rousey vs. Flair at Royal Rumble and then Rousey vs. Lynch one-on-one at WrestleMania 35. These plans were then scrapped because WWE officials decided they wanted Flair, Rousey, and Lynch to all be part of the same match at WrestleMania.

Going by another report from the Observer Radio, WWE is planning to add Charlotte Flair to the match at some point, to make the Raw women’s title bout at Triple Threat match at WrestleMania 35.

Of course, Meltzer has noted in the past that “plans can change.” As of now, the announced Raw women’s title match is Ronda Rousey vs. Becky Lynch at WrestleMania 35.

Opinionated View- I have made it clear adding Charlotte would be an awful idea

Best Friends Reported To Be Leaving New Japan

In the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio (via Wrestling Inc, Dave Meltzer said that Beretta (Trent Baretta) and Chuckie T will be finishing up with NJPW once they appear at this week’s New Beginning USA tour. Beretta was offered a contract, a big push and guaranteed booking dates. He spoke with management and said he would agree to a new deal, but has since decided to back out of that deal. He will be leaving with Chuckie T.

There’s no word on where either wrestler goes from here, but Meltzer suggested that AEW is likely because of their relationships with The Elite.

Opinionated View- That is a hit for NJPW as it was clear they are behind Beretta. Plus they need tag teams and Best Friends are a good one.

Hideo Itami finishes up with WWE following 205 Live taping, Issues brief statement online

Fightful and PWInsider are reporting that Hideo Itami recently requested his release from WWE and it appears the company will be granting it.

Itami lost to Akira Tozawa in the main event of last night’s 205 Live episode that aired on the WWE Network, just days after taking part in another losing effort during the Royal Rumble Kickoff Show taking part in a Fatal Four Way for the Cruiserweight title.

Itami, 37, recently changed his Twitter handle back to his original KENTA name and issued a very brief statement on Tuesday evening.

KENTA

@HideoItami
 THANK YOU.

Itami was called up to be part of the main roster in late 2017 to be part of the 205 Live roster and had been featured prior as part of the Cruiserweight division.

He missed significant time with WWE after suffering a shoulder injury during his time in NXT, keeping him out of action from May of 2015 through June of 2016.

The report by Fightful stated Itami was “unsatisfied creatively” in the company.

Opinionated View- He got hurt early on and than got stuck on the crap show not helping was the fact he hurt Kendrick in a match. So does he stay in America or does he head back to Japan?

WWE Smackdown Preview

WWE Smackdown is live tonight from Phoenix, in what will be the final show from the city after four days straight of WWE events in the area for Royal Rumble weekend.

No matches have been announced for the show as of this afternoon. The only segment confirmed is Shane McMahon and The Miz holding a celebration after capturing the Smackdown Tag Team Championships on Sunday at the Royal Rumble.

Also being teased is the fallout of Becky Lynch choosing to challenge Ronda Rousey for the RAW Women’s Champioship at WrestleMania outside of her own brand, what is next for WWE Champion Daniel Bryan after retaining against AJ Styles, the next challenge for Smackdown Women’s Champion Asuka and if Rusev and Lana can rebound after Rusev lost the United States Title and Lana was “injured” this past weekend

WWE confirms reports about Dean Ambrose departure including when deal expires

Earlier today, we covered reports by the Pro Wrestling Torch and PWInsider about Dean Ambrose planning to depart the company when his deal expires after WrestleMania.

Wrestleview.com had reached out to WWE for an official comment early this morning and didn’t receive a reply immediately, all while reports started to go public.

WWE just issued the following statement to Wrestleview confirming the reports and revealing that Ambrose’s deal expires in April.

“Dean Ambrose (Jonathan Good) will not be renewing his contract with WWE when it expires in April.  We are grateful and appreciative of all that Dean has given to WWE and our fans.  We wish him well and hope that one day Dean will return to WWE.”

The reports earlier today indicated that Ambrose was offered a new five-year deal and turned it down. It was speculated that WWE could potentially come back with another offer, but the above statement would seem to indicate that isn’t in the plans as of now.

WWE Reportedly Has No Plans For Horsewomen vs. Horsewomen Feud

– Despite constantly teasing a type of MMA Horsewomen vs. WWE Horsewomen rivalry, WWE reportedly has no plans to go forward with such a feud or match for the time being. Ronda Rousey and Sasha Banks appeared to be teasing such a feud after their match at Sunday’s Royal Rumble. However, according to Dave Meltzer on The Wrestling Observer Radio (via RingsideNews), there are “no plans” for having a match that would see the MMA Four Horsewomen (Rousey, Marina Shafir, Shayna Baszler, and Jessamyn Duke) vs. the WWE Four Horsewomen (Sasha Banks, Becky Lynch, Bayley, and Charlotte Flair).

Meltzer stated: “Ronda actually cut a promo about the Horsewomen vs Horsewomen match. It was actually a good promo too. Right now as far as between now and WrestleMania there is no plans for that. It can change, but there’s nothing now you know so I had asked specifically. I said, ‘it looks like they’re going that direction’ and Sasha really, really wants that especially and Ronda’s not opposed to it. You know those are her real friends, but it’s not in the cards the next two pay-per-views right now. It can change, but anyway.”

As always, take the news with a grain of salt, and of course, “plans can change.” WWE has teased a Horsewomen feud since before Rousey even made her official WWE debut. Going all the way back to September 2017 during the first Mae Young Classic, there was a confrontation between the groups

Opinionated View- Please let this be one of the times Dave is right. People this feud would suck, the have really taken away any aura Ronda had, Shayna can be very hit and miss, Shafir and Duke have almost not experience. Bayle, Sasha, and Charlotte always suck.

Dean Ambrose gives notice to WWE, Expected to finish up following WrestleMania

In a story first reported by Pro Wrestling Torch, Dean Ambrose informed WWE officials this weekend he would be leaving when his current deal expires in a few months.

Ambrose, a former WWE Champion, was said to have informed both WWE officials and Vince McMahon directly of his decision. PWInsider reports that Ambrose was offered a new five-year deal and turned it down. His current deal expires shortly after WrestleMania.

Ambrose has been under contract with WWE since 2011, where he first started out in the company’s Florida Championship Wrestling developmental territory and later transitioned to NXT. He was brought up to the main roster in 2012 at the Survivor Series PPV as a member of The Shield, along with Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins.

He recently returned to WWE full-time last August after experiencing a very serious triceps tear back in 2017 that ended up requiring multiple surgeries. Ambrose revealed last September that he “nearly died” as a result of a serious staph infection after recovering from surgery. He would go on to reunite with The Shield and then later capture the Intercontinental Championship in December. Ambrose was involved in a high profile feud with Seth Rollins in recent months after Roman Reigns was written off television.

The same report by PWInsider noted that his current deal, which either expires some time in April or May, could see WWE attempt to come back with an even bigger offer to keep him with the company and prevent him from signing with AEW, New Japan, ROH, Impact or any other wrestling promotions that would be interested in his services. The report by the Pro Wrestling Torch stated that Ambrose has been frustrated with the creative direction of his character in WWE and that he simply reached a “breaking point” recently.

Ambrose did appear on RAW last night, losing to Seth Rollins in the opening match of the night and later getting into a confrontation in the ring with Nia Jax.

Opinionated View- This actually doesn't surprise me. You got the sense Dean hasn't like the way the way the took all the edge out of his character when he was a face and than they blow his heel turn badly. Meanwhile he likely sees what Impact is doing with Killer Kross and he has to think "Why can I do shit like that." He is by all accounts a student of the game and knows the crazy American Brawler still sell well in Japan. Than he sees a guy like Cody who was reborn after leaving. Plus AEW is said to be paying good money and you hear Cody and The Bucks making it clear it wont' be the WWE system of writers controlling all.

Bea Priestley Turns Down WWE Offer, AEW Reportedly Interested

It was reported earlier this month that Bea Priestley was one of three World of Sport stars offered deals from WWE, along with Viper and Kay Lee Ray. According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio (via Wrestling Inc), Priestley turned down the offer and AEW is interested in adding her to their roster. If a deal is signed, she could be one of the “newly signed women” that Brandi Rhodes is promising to bring with her to the Double Or Nothing Ticket Announcement Party.

Footage of Fan Being Forced to Remove AEW Shirt At Royal Rumble

WWE security forced a fan seated at ringside at Royal Rumble tonight to change out of the AEW shirt he was wearing. This prompted the Young Bucks to respond and say that fans are welcome to wear WWE shirts at AEW events.

Opinionated View- And WWE sheep keep telling me "WWE doesn't care about AEW at all. AEW isn't even real yet."

Reports on Kenny Omega's New Japan Contract

– There have been several conflicting reports on when Kenny Omega’s contract with NJPW will end, but they all agree that it is not until the end of the month. We’ve reported January 31 but PWInsider claims it will be either February 1 or 4. Either way, he will be free from his NJPW deal soon and free to sign with anyone. It is believed, however, that he will be bound for AEW.

Opinionated View- AEW has a event called Talent Pool on 2/7 I expect that is when Kenny finds his phone.

No segments or matches have been announced for the show as of this afternoon, in an episode that will feature the fallout from last night’s Royal Rumble PPV.

WWE is teasing what the winners of the Royal Rumble matches will do and what championships they will decide to challenge for at WrestleMania 35 this year. This includes Seth Rollins choosing between the WWE or Universal Championship, while Becky Lynch has to decide if she will challenge Ronda Rousey for the RAW Women’s Championship or attempt another rematch against Smackdown Women’s Champion Asuka.

WWE Telling Talent That New Contracts Will Include Pay Increases

WWE is reportedly telling talent that new contracts will include substantial pay increases after the new TV deals start later this year. The WON reports that talent is being told that the new contracts will be “way up” once Smackdown moves to Fox and the new Raw/USA Network deal begins in October.

The reason for the increase is that with the business changing from a house show and PPV-driven business to a TV rights-driven profit model, the old ways no longer make sense. There has been discussion of the contracts being more of a typical sports-style contract where you are signed for a regular figure and anything you earn above that is a bonus or contracted merchandise percentage.

Opinionated View- Plus that whole AEW thing. No matter what people in WWE want to admit for unhappy poorly pushed talent or even guys just in general think they can do better there is an option

The series will focus on the search for the “next female Superstar.”
“Casting is underway for a forthcoming reality show that will document the search for the next great female competitor.”
Opinionated View- So The Diva Search is back?

Ronda Rousey Comments On Reports Of Post-WrestleMania Break From WWE

Whether or not Ronda Rousey is taking a break from WWE after WrestleMania to start a family is her business, and her business alone — so says the Raw Women’s Champion.
Speaking with ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne, Rousey said, “I honestly don’t know why [anyone] feels like [they’re] an authority to speak on the plans for my uterus.”
“If I responded every single time the world speculated what I was doing with my womb I would not have a free moment in the day,” she continued. “I really don’t feel like I should have to respond to that kind of thing. It’s my vagina, my life, keep the speculations to yourself. Leave me and my reproductive organs alone.”
As we previously reported … Ronda informed WWE that she might be taking a break from the company after Mania, but nothing is set in stone quite yet and her contract lasts until 2021.
Shelburne notes in the article that one source told them there are “plenty of ways for her to stay involved” should Rousey have any children.
The article also concludes with a longer quote from Ronda saying:
“I’ve not kept it a secret that I would definitely want to start a family.”
“But how do you go about doing that? I love this way more than I thought that I would. So do you just keep going until you just happen to get pregnant? Or should you stop and go try and get pregnant? Or is going and trying to get pregnant putting yourself on the spot and then you’re less likely to get pregnant? I’ve never had a baby before, I don’t know these kinds of things.
“It would be kind of cool to just keep acting and then one day, ‘Hey, surprise twist, I’m pregnant.’ That would be fun. There’s a lot of things up in the air. A lot of decisions that we’ve gotta make as a family. I’m trying to figure it out as I go along.”

Royal Rumble 2019 Review

Time won't be exact. So please watch the channel Rumble and NXT Takeover

Goverment Shutdown Prevent New Japan Talent From Making US Show

Regarding THE NEW BEGINNING in USA
It is with great disappointment that we must announce that due to the ongoing 2018–19 United States federal government shutdown, we were unable to obtain visas for our Japanese talent who were looking forward to seeing our US fans at the New Beginning in USA.

We are excited to still be able to share a great line-up with our US fans, regardless of visa issues. The IWGP US Champion, Juice Robinson, is defending his title against Barretta and The Great O-Kharn, who is flying in from England, will be debuting in New Japan! What’s more, this show will highlight the talent and potential of our Young Lions, who have been working hard in the NJPW LA dojo. We are looking forward to being able to celebrate the abilities of the exciting new generation of young NJPW wrestlers.

Opinionated View- Yeah looking at the cards it's a real let down as it comes off as very American Indy with some New Japan talent from the US on it. And it's really to bad because the first 2 shows sold out and than they added a third show. So it seemed like this would be a big deal for the US expansion. Instead it seems like it will hurt things.

Update on John Cena’s Status for the Royal Rumble

An update on John Cena after he suffered an ankle injury on last week’s Raw. This has led to people questioning if he will make it to his previously announced spot in the Royal Rumble this weekend. Per the report, it is believed that Cena was never actually going to be in the match at the event. Apparently, if this move is the case, it was done to help boost ticket sales similar to WWE promoting Brock Lesnar vs. Braun Stromwan when the plans on the match had already changed.

The Observer states that the original plan would’ve had Lars Sullivan injure Cena on Raw to take him out of the Royal Rumble match. An earlier rumor suggested WWE was going to set up a match between Sullivan and Cena at WrestleMania this year, but Sullivan did not appear on TV for allegedly suffering from mental anxiety.

WWE has not yet officially announced that Cena is out of the Royal Rumble match. Additionally, John Cena is not expected to start filming his next film project, Playing With Fire, until February 4 in Vancouver. With that time frame, he could still technically make it to the Royal Rumble on Sunday.

The 2019 Royal Rumble event is set for Sunday, January 27. The card will be held at Chase Field in Phoenix, Arizona. The event will be broadcast live on the WWE Network.

WWE Rumored to Have No Plans for The Undertaker at WrestleMania 35

According to the latest edition of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter (via WrestlingInc.com) there are currently no plans or a match set for The Undertaker for WrestleMania 35 at this time.

It appeared that The Undertaker had possibly wrestled his last match against Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 33, where he left his gear in the ring. However, he ultimately returned to face and defeat John Cena at WrestleMania 34 last year. One caveat to this news, of course, is that “plans could change.”

Opinionated View- Good sick of the Undertaker's yearly ego trip.

WWE Comments on Rousey’s Contract Status

ProWrestlingSheet has released its own report on Ronda Rousey and the rumors that she will be finishing up with WWE after WrestleMania 35. According to the report, sources indicated that WWE agreed when they signed Rousey that she’d be allowed to step away for a while if she wanted to start a family. Additionally, Rousey is said to have told WWE that she was going to take a break from the company after WrestleMania 35.

The report goes on to state that Rousey’s apparent break or exit is “not set in stone.” It indicates that things might change around the time of WrestleMania 35 or afterwards. Also, she still has time left on her multi-year contract.

Last Novembr, she said in a video on a YouTube channel, “I can’t wrestle forever because I feel like I’m failing my family. I wouldn’t be leaving home unless it was to do the most fantastic things ever and I really really do enjoy it and love it.” She added, “But all that energy I spend on the WWE is energy I don’t spend on my family.”

Also, a WWE rep informed TMZ Sports on the rumor, “Ronda Rousey is under contract with WWE until April 10, 2021. Whether she wants to start a family is a private matter.”

Update on WWE Pushing Unhappy Talent

As previously reported, the WWE tag team The Revival have been the subject of numerous rumors as of late. They reportedly requested a release from their WWE contracts recently. According to the latest edition of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter (via Wrestlezone.com), WWE was not willing to grant the release. Instead, the report notes that WWE will try to push the team of Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder as “top guys” and the face of the tag team division.

It’s been previously noted that the contracts for The Revival are set to run through April 2020. They reportedly requested their releases because they want to be able to do their best work, and they think WWE’s lack of focus on a tag team is a hindrance to that. Their recent feeling was that they weren’t getting a chance to show what they can do based on how they were being booked in the current Raw tag team division.

However, WWE management has apparently changed their outlook and are now apparently ready to push tag teams. The report states that officials have even gone as far as saying The Revival would be made to be the new faces of the division. Believe it or not, but this idea was reportedly pushed forward in order to counter the upcoming new wrestling promotion All Elite Wrestling (AEW), as that promotion would likely have tag teams as a major focus.

This latest bit of news comes off the heels of another report by The Observer from earlier this week that stated that WWE is planning to give pushes to unhappy talent as a way to prevent them from leaving and heading to AEW when their contracts expire. Whether WWE follows through with this news of an apparent huge push for The Revival or not, remains to be seen.

The same report also notes that there are long-term plans that could see Rey Mysterio and Andrade getting paired up as a team on Smackdown. However, there were apparent plans in the last week that would see the two become a type of babyface duo. It’s not yet clear how Zelina Vega might fit into those plans.

Earlier today, it was reported by PWInsider that WWE was rumored to be planning a face turn with Andrade and pair him up with Mysterio and Sin Cara on Smackdown.

Opinionated View- Well if I am Andrade getting paired up with stale Rey and career long jobber Sin Cara would make me ask for a release. The Revival just got jobbed again to reunite a team that hasn't been together in like 10 years and were all that popular to start.

Report: Current WWE Women’s Champion expected to finish after WrestleMania 35

A report by Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter has indicated that current RAW Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey could be finishing up with WWE soon.

The report indicated there was a “very good chance” Rousey would finish up with the company following WrestleMania 35 this April.

The idea that Rousey could be done isn’t incredibly far-fetched. Last June, Hall of Famer Ric Flair told Chris Van Vliet that Rousey’s current deal with WWE would be expiring by the time WrestleMania 35 rolls around and was hopeful of a match between Rousey and his daughter, WWE star Charlotte Flair, could be part of the card.

A few months later, Rousey told ESPN that she had a “set timeline” when coming to terms with WWE on a contract last year. However, Rousey indicated in the same interview that she was already rethinking that previous commitment and seemed to suggest that she was enjoying her time in the ring more than she expected.

“I love this way more than I ever thought I would. We had a set timeline set, and now we aren’t so sure about it because I love it so much. I guess that’s the best thing that could’ve happened, that I would love it so much it would be so hard to stop. I can see why people have a hard time leaving this industry because it’s such a joy to be a part of every day.”

Rousey has stated publicly she wants to start a family, although at the time of her WWE signing last January, she described it as a commitment for “several years.”

Rousey will defend the RAW Women’s Championship against Sasha Banks at the Royal Rumble PPV this Sunday night in Phoenix.

Opinionated View- Well if she does leave it would be a huge loss for WWE is she leaves given how much they have put behind her. But you also have to remember WWE is desperate and odds would given Ronda anything she wants.

Abyss & Sonjay Dutt Exit Impact Wrestling, Reportedly WWE-Bound

– Two of Impact Wrestling’s stars have departed the company in Abyss and Sonjay Dutt, with both said to be headed to WWE. PWInsider reports that an email was sent to the Impact roster informing them of both exits and wishing them well. The belief among multiple people is that they are headed to WWE and will be working there soon. The word is that both exits were amicable and that Impact didn’t want to hold them back from the opportunities they received.

Abyss was one of Impact’s longest-tenured performers, having worked there since 2002, and was inducted into the TNA Hall of Fame last year. He has been working as a producer backstage for the company. Dutt had been involved in the creative aspect of Impact for a while, working alongside Don Callis, Scott D’Amore and Jimmy Jacobs.

Konnan and Tommy Dreamer will replace Dutt on the creative team of Impact.

Opinionated View- I don't feel like these are big losses. I mean in ring wise (Which I doubt WWE is hiring them for) both are pretty much done. Abyss has pretty much been used as a special occasion guy to get other's over. Its sad losing the last time from 02 but its bound to happen as a company goes on and on. Loss creative wise they have guys that come in and fill those roles. Plus it's good to change up the creative staff so things do get stale.

JoJo Reportedly Off the Road for Personal Reasons, Notes on Her WWE Status

PWInsider (via WrestlingInc.com) reports that JoJo Offerman is off the road for WWE right now for “personal reasons.” There has recently been some speculation on her WWE status, but she’s said to still be employed with the company.

Offerman last appeared as a ring announcer for Raw with the New Year’s Eve episode of the show, which was taped last month. Also, the reports states that there is no apparently no issues and no heat backstage with JoJo. As of now, there’s no word as to when she might return to TV.

Additionally, she’s expected to be gone past this weekend’s Royal Rumble event. Offerman was not seen in the listing for ring announcers and commentators set for the Royal Rumble weekend. Mike Rome is set to handle the ring announcing for Raw until JoJo returns.

Chris Sabin Suffers Complete ACL Tear, Forced to Miss 8-12 Months

– As previously reported, former Impact Wrestling/TNA world champion Chris Sabin suffered torn ACL injury in his right knee at the ROH TV taping in Atlanta, Georgia. Earlier today, Chris Sabin released an update on his injury on his Twitter account.

According to Sabin, he suffered a complete ACL tear. As a result, he will be out of action for 8-12 months. As previously noted, his current ROH deal is set to expire soon, so it’s unknown what that could mean for his future in-ring prospects. You can check out Sabin’s tweet that he shared below.

Sabin has wrestled all over the world for TNA/Impact Wrestling, NJPW, and Ring of Honor. In TNA, he has held the tag team, X-Division, and world titles. He and his former tag team partner Alex Shelley held tag titles in multiple promotions.

Flip Gordon Confirmed To Have Torn MCL In His Right Knee

We reported earlier this month that Flip Gordon suffered an injury at ROH Honor Reigns Supreme when he hit a running dropkick in the corner. It was believed at the time to be an MCL sprain that would only keep him out for four weeks. However, after getting an MRI last week, ROH has confirmed that Gordon has a full MCL tear in his right knee.

It’s believed that Gordon should be able to compete at ROH and NJPW’s G1 Supercard show at Madison Square Garden on April 6.

John Cena Announced as Injured, Royal Rumble Status In Doubt

– WWE has announced that John Cena has suffered an injury and may not be part of the Royal Rumble match as planned. The company announced the news on WWE.com on Monday afternoon, noting that the injury is to Cena’s ankle and was suffered during the main event of last week’s Raw. The story is that McIntyre injured Cena in his ankle lock. Cena was favoring the ankle after the spot.

The WWE.com article adds that “The injury was exacerbated earlier today as Cena was training his legs at the gym.” His status for the Rumble is said to be “questionable.”

Of course, this could all be a work. It is worth noting that per PWInsider, sources backstage say Cena is not at tonight’s Raw taping.

WWE Reportedly Planning To Push Unhappy Talent To Prevent AEW Jump

In the latest edition of The Wrestling Observe, Dave Meltzer suggested that WWE is planning to give pushes to unhappy talent to prevent them from jumping ship to All Elite Wrestling when their contracts expire. We’ve reported that The Revival recently asked for their release due to their unhappiness with the tag team division. Meanwhile, Sasha Banks also seemed to hint at wanting out of her contract.

Meltzer said that WWE doesn’t want news about their talent wanting out of the company to get out, and they don’t want fans to know that the unhappy talent wants to go to AEW. WWE is now trying to keep talent happy by giving pushes to talent that may be looking to leave. WWE creative believes that by pushing talent like The Revival, Banks and Andrade, they could keep from losing them.

Opinionated View- First screw Sasha Banks she is going to botch her way into retirement soon enough. This doesn't shock me because WWE will know dominoes will fall if they start letting guys leave. But how long will they keep this up and hell how long can they.

Impact producer makes headlines, Stuck on United flight in “frigid weather” for 14 hours

CNN is featuring a story about a United flight from New Jersey to Hong Kong that was stuck on the runway in “frigid weather” for over 14 hours.
Impact Wrestling producer Sonjay Dutt was featured in the story, noting that Dutt was tweeting about the ordeal the whole time it was taking place.
The article notes the flight was diverted to Goose Bay Airport in Newfoundland, Canada due to a medical emergency. However, the flight experienced a mechanical issue when it attempted to leave. All passengers were forced to remain on board due to a customs officer not being on duty during overnight hours when the flight landed.

Matt Hardy says he isn’t retiring anytime soon, “Greenlit” for a physical return

It doesn’t appear Matt Hardy is done with his in-ring career just yet.

Hardy, who remains under contract with WWE, responded to a question from a fan on Twitter this weekend reiterating that he hasn’t retired from the ring and that he was recently “greenlit” for a potential return to the ring.

The BROKEN One, Matt Hardy

@MATTHARDYBRAND
No, I am not retired & not going to be retiring anytime soon. I’ve worked my ass off to rehabilitate & have physically been greenlit. My body is in the best shape it’s been in in years & I’m the lightest I’ve been in 20 years.

Hardy made one of his final scheduled appearances for WWE back in September, noting then that it was time for him to “go home” and get well. Reby Hardy, Matt’s wife, revealed publicly back in August that Matt’s current deal with WWE expires this March.

In early August, Matt revealed he was a battling a serious lower back issue and was hinting on Twitter that his days in the ring could be numbered for WWE. It would appear resting his body and dropping weight has allowed him for a potential return to the ring.

Latest On When The Revival’s WWE Contracts Expire & Backstage Note On When They Requested Their Release

Dave Meltzer reported on the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio that the Revival wanted to request their release from WWE prior to their match on RAW this past Monday, but didn’t because both Vince McMahon and Triple H were busy all day preparing for the RAW Braun Strowman segment. The two then waited until after their match to discuss the topic.

Meltzer also noted that The Revival’s contracts expire in April of 2020, and they have not been granted their release yet, thus they worked the WWE live event in San Antonio on Friday. Their match was praised by fans and Sasha Banks who tweeted some things that caused speculation about her WWE future.

Meltzer continued that Dash Wilder’s decision to trademark #FTR on January 1st was no accident. The trademark claims that #FTR refers to “Forever The Revival” but the hashtag has been used in the past by the Young Bucks when they were in a Twitter feud with the Revival in 2017 and they meant it to mean “Fix The Revival” and “F*ck The Revival” at different times.

More On WWE’s Decision To Use Riskier Sexual Content on RAW and Smackdown

We previously reported that the segment featuring Alexa Bliss changing on RAW got big Youtube numbers, as did a segment with Mandy Rose in lingerie. It was said that this was done in order to “re-insert sexuality into their shows, similar to how they’d push the envelope in the Attitude Era.”

In the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio (via Ringside News), Dave Meltzer elaborated that WWE is attempting to win back a teenage audience.

He said: “That’s the direction they want to go. Look, it’s the direction that will help ratings, yeah it will. That kind of stuff always works like in the long run, not the short run. Like it won’t help at week one, but that direction will help. It will draw more teenage boys and stuff.“

Opinionated View- I have this before I have no problem with it if it serves a storyline purpose. Mandy is developing a story that gives her character the cruel bent same as Scarlett being a manipulator in Impact. But with Alexa it was just "Oh's she not wearing a shirt I can almost see her boobs." Its didn't lead to anything other than I think Vince thought it would be funny for the "assistant" to be shy.

The Revival Reportedly Want Out Of WWE Due To Tag Team Division Booking

We previously reported that the Revival have asked for a release from WWE after their match at RAW last week. A follow-up story revealed that WWE allegedly asked for three months to change before granting a release to the Top Guys.

According to Pro Wrestling Sheet, Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder were not thinking of themselves when they asked for their release, but the entire tag team division. The division’s lack of direction, promos and attention frustrated the two. The frustration boiled over when RAW Tag Team Champions Bobby Roode and Chad Gable weren’t even featured on Monday’s episode of RAW. Gallows and Anderson (who were initially considered big signings) and the Authors of Pain are other examples of tag teams not getting a lot of TV time. Meanwhile, The Revival’s own match with the Lucha House Party on RAW was used as filler while the feed cut backstage for vignettes.

The Revival’s request to get out of their contracts has been denied, and according to a source, they have a “decent amount of time” left with the company.

Opinionated View- You gotta be careful with a report like this because this seems to make some assumptions but I very easily can buy anyone in the tag division be pissed off. Especially if you are The Revival. They were the team that was supposed to be the rebirth of great tag wrestling. And yeah that lets cut to the back and ignore the match would piss almost anyone off. Meanwhile you see all the Stuff the Bucks are doing you see the Lucha Bros taking off you see LAX and OVE outside of WWE. Hell and I bet they don't get paid that much given they are so slow on the card

Reason Why KUSHIDA Left NJPW For WWE

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that the reason that KUSHIDA left NJPW was due to creative differences with NJPW officials. KUSHIDA reportedly wanted to turn heel and join the Bullet Club, but Gedo turned him down as he felt NJPW needed a babyface junior heavyweight. KUSHIDA’s last match will be against Hiroshi Tanahashi on January 29. He is then expected to go to WWE and be part of the NXT brand.

Opinionated View- I can see both sides. KUSHIDA felt pretty stale in his role as Back to the Future loving face but they just got Ishimori into the company and put him with Bullet Club.
