Update on WWE Pushing Unhappy Talent

As previously reported, the WWE tag team The Revival have been the subject of numerous rumors as of late. They reportedly requested a release from their WWE contracts recently. According to the latest edition of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter (via Wrestlezone.com), WWE was not willing to grant the release. Instead, the report notes that WWE will try to push the team of Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder as “top guys” and the face of the tag team division.

It’s been previously noted that the contracts for The Revival are set to run through April 2020. They reportedly requested their releases because they want to be able to do their best work, and they think WWE’s lack of focus on a tag team is a hindrance to that. Their recent feeling was that they weren’t getting a chance to show what they can do based on how they were being booked in the current Raw tag team division.

However, WWE management has apparently changed their outlook and are now apparently ready to push tag teams. The report states that officials have even gone as far as saying The Revival would be made to be the new faces of the division. Believe it or not, but this idea was reportedly pushed forward in order to counter the upcoming new wrestling promotion All Elite Wrestling (AEW), as that promotion would likely have tag teams as a major focus.

This latest bit of news comes off the heels of another report by The Observer from earlier this week that stated that WWE is planning to give pushes to unhappy talent as a way to prevent them from leaving and heading to AEW when their contracts expire. Whether WWE follows through with this news of an apparent huge push for The Revival or not, remains to be seen.

The same report also notes that there are long-term plans that could see Rey Mysterio and Andrade getting paired up as a team on Smackdown. However, there were apparent plans in the last week that would see the two become a type of babyface duo. It’s not yet clear how Zelina Vega might fit into those plans.

Earlier today, it was reported by PWInsider that WWE was rumored to be planning a face turn with Andrade and pair him up with Mysterio and Sin Cara on Smackdown.

Opinionated View- Well if I am Andrade getting paired up with stale Rey and career long jobber Sin Cara would make me ask for a release. The Revival just got jobbed again to reunite a team that hasn't been together in like 10 years and were all that popular to start.
