Alexa Bliss is Training at The WWE Performance Center

Alexa Bliss has been out of in ring action for a while, and has missed the WWE Evolution PPV. There were reports that Bliss was dealing with multiple concussions, but Bliss has repeatedly denied she was retiring. The speculation picked up more momentum when Bliss was put in charge of the Raw Women’s division on Monday.

She posted the following today from the WWE Performance Center, in the ring with one of WWE’s trainers, as she looks to be beginning the process to get cleared.

Report: European talent WALTER signs deal with WWE to be part of NXT UK brand

PWInsider is reporting that European wrestler WALTER has come to terms on a deal with WWE that will see him become part of the emerging NXT UK brand.

It was reported back in March by The Wrestling Observer Newsletter that WWE had interest in signing WALTER to a deal with the company. WALTER, who is from Austria, currently holds the World Title for PROGRESS Wrestling and OTT Wrestling.

Back in September, WALTER told The Mirror he didn’t want to live in the United States.

“I don’t know if I mentioned this but being a part of the Raw or SmackDown roster is nothing I am interested in. I don’t want to live in the US. I really like NXT though, I think it’s a great product, filled with the best talent in the world and is focused on competition in the ring, which is something I enjoy. I don’t want to say it will never happen because in wrestling things change so quick.”

During the latest set of NXT UK tapings in Liverpool over the weekend, WWE approached talent with new deals that restricts them from working for other promotions that the company isn’t currently affiliated with. PROGRESS and OTT are WWE affiliates.

WWE Rumored to be Extending Contracts on Superstars and Signing Other Free Agents to Keep Them Away from All Elite Wrestling, Young Bucks and Cody Rhodes Reportedly Offered ‘Main Event Money’ to Go to WWE

– As previously reported, there have been a number of rumors this week regarding a new wrestling promotion, dubbed All Elite Wrestling (AEW). The promotion would prospectively involve The Young Bucks and Cody Rhodes, Chris Jericho, Jim Ross and Tony Khan (son of Jacksonville Jaguars owner Shahid Khan), with WWE superstars reportedly interested in signing on if the promotion actually gets off the ground. During a recent edition of The Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer addressed the topic.

During the show, Meltzer addressed how WWE is definitely taking notice of AEW and that it is on Vince McMahon’s radar. He stated the following (transcript via Ringside News):

“If you look at that [WWE] roster there’s a lot of guys WWE’s gonna really try to double down and try and make sure that they extend people’s contracts. You know I expect a lot of change from the WWE from three days ago. You know?”

“It’s on [Vince McMahon’s] radar, don’t kid yourself. Once the MSG show happened and [WWE] blocked it and [ROH] got it and it got unblocked, everything’s been on his radar. That’s why ACH and these guys that they’ve known about for ten years all of a sudden they’re signed now that weren’t being signed before.”

“I’m sure they had a hint of some of this. I don’t know what they knew and didn’t know but I’m sure that they had enough of a — I mean look, they’ve been courting Cody and The Young Bucks hard, hard, hard and those guys haven’t committed and said ‘We’re coming’ and they’ve gotta be sitting there going, ‘Why won’t they come?!’”

It was also indicated on the show that WWE was offering Rhodes and The Young Bucks “main event money” to go to the organization. How the new All Elite Wrestling venture pans out still remains to be seen.

Opinionated View- Well this is Dave talking so a large amount of it likely came out of his ass. That call me crazy this time feel different. We always hear about these so called big companies that will start with money and talent and they never seem to pan out. But than you look at Elite and what they have already done getting into Hot Topic, The Funco Deal, ALL IN. This is Vince's worst nightmare Superstars that prove they can do it without his machine.

Update on Braun Strowman, Scheduled for surgery this Monday in Birmingham

WWE star Braun Strowman is currently scheduled to undergo surgery this Monday in Birmingham, Alabama according to a report by PWInsider.

As reported earlier, WWE confirmed Strowman would be requiring surgery on his elbow. While the company is pushing the storyline on RAW that Strowman’s “attack” caused the injury, it was reported later that Strowman is suffering from bone spurs in his elbow.

As of now, the hope internally within WWE is that Strowman will have enough time to recover from surgery to wrestle at the TLC PPV on December 16. However, until the surgery is actually performed, a return date hasn’t been confirmed just yet.

Should the match with Corbin go forth, it carries an interesting stipulation. If Strowman wins, he earns a shot at the Universal Championship against Brock Lesnar at the Royal Rumble.  If Corbin wins, he gets to be the permanent General Manager of RAW.

WWE Not Planning To End Brand Split Before FOX Deal Begins

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter (via Wrestling Inc) reports that while there are rumors that WWE will go back to having just one brand when Smackdown moves to FOX next year, this is actually not going to happen. There had been rumors that WWE needed all of their top stars on Smackdown due to the importance of network primetime numbers.

However, FOX reportedly doesn’t want to cross-promote the same wrestlers that are seen on NBCUniversal’s RAW on the USA Network. That makes it more likely that the rosters will stay separate. It’s also believed that RAW and Smackdown will have different production teams, with more live events for the WWE Network. It’s believed that Smackdown will have the live TV show on Friday, followed by whatever Saturday live events they have airing on the WWE Network. RAW, meanwhile, will work Sundays for live events or PPV events, followed by RAW on Monday.

Smackdown premieres on FOX on October 4, 2019. We reported last month that FOX wants the show to have less comedy and more of a sports-oriented feel. They plan to include it as part of their sports block of programming, which runs from Thursday to Sunday. Vince McMahon, however, seems to prefer the comedy approach with parts of his shows. FOX also wants to do cross-promoting with the other shows they have, including FOX Sports stars and personalities appearing on different shows to promote the block (including Smackdown). They want to give them something with a more athletic presentation to promote.

RUMOR: Two WWE Superstars Have Reportedly Agreed To Join All Elite Wrestling

While the rumors of the All Elite Wrestling promotion have yet to be confirmed, we reported yesterday that several trademarks have been filed for the company. AEW is reportedly set to involve Young Bucks and Cody Rhodes, Chris Jericho, Jim Ross and Tony Khan (son of Jacksonville Jaguars owner Shahid Khan), with WWE superstars reportedly interested in signing on if the promotion actually gets off the ground.

WrestleTalk reports that it goes a little beyond “interest”, however, claiming that two main roster stars have been “informally approached” about signing with the company and have “provisionally” agreed to sign once their WWE contracts expire. It’s believed both wrestlers will leave WWE at April at the latest.

The deal is said to hinge on the promotion getting a “financially worthwhile” TV or streaming deal, so it should be considered “50/50” at this point.

Opinionated View- Well this like a good way to get sued if WWE wants to claim they are interfering with contracted talented. Get ready for a lot of reports like this until something come out officially

Update on Trademarks Filed for All Elite Wrestling, WWE Superstars Rumored to Have Interest in New Promotion

– As previously reported, an applicant by the title of All Elite Wrestling filed for a “good and services” trademark on a number of phrases that included “All Elite Wrestling,” “AEW,” “AEW Double Or Nothing,” and “AEW All Out.” The Wrestling Observer Radio (via WrestlingInc.com) had more details on what could be happening with this new wrestling promotion.

Speaking about the potential new wrestling promotion, Dave Meltzer stated that The Young Bucks (Matt and Nick Jackson) were essential to making sure this promotion starts. Basically, if the Bucks are not part of the deal, then it will cease to exist. Also, The Young Bucks are still under contract with ROH until the end of 2018, so they aren’t free yet to negotiate a new deal. Additionally, if they decide to sign with WWE or re-up with ROH after the first of January 2019, then the whole deal would be “scrapped.”

It was noted that Chris Jericho, Cody Rhodes and Brandi Rhodes are currently free agents and not under contract with anyone, so they are open to conduct negotiations with a potential new wrestling organization. The applicant All Elite Wrestling attempted to file for two trademarks for AEW: a standard character mark for the letters “AEW” and also a mark for an AEW logo, which is said to be similar to military stenciling.

Also, it was reported by WrestlingInc. that the trademark files for AEW Double or Nothing and AEW All Out were accompanied by logos. The other trademarks that were filed were merely standard character marks for the wording only. The application filing for AEW Double or Nothing reportedly featured a logo of a poker chip with the words “AEW Double or Nothing” written on it. It’s rumored that Double or Nothing could be the title of the follow-up pay-per-view to All In.

Additionally, the AEW All Out logo reportedly looks similar to the logo for the “All In” event with a line striking through “IN” and the word “OUT” written over it. This implies the the same parties responsible for All In are also involved with All Elite Wrestling

Another aspect of this is Killing The Business, Inc. This company trademarked the Being The Elite YouTube show for the stable of of The Young Bucks, Cody Rhodes, Hangman Page, Marty Scurll, and Kenny Omega. Killing The Business, Inc. reportedly has not yet gained the trademark of “The Elite” ahead of the formation of All Elite Wrestling, LLC.

Meltzer also indicated that he knows Superstars in WWE that are said to be very interested in the potential AEW promotion. While pointed out that it doesn’t mean any of the WWE names he has spoken with will leave, but they are open to the idea of exploring the option if AEW gets off the ground, making a potential new destination for wrestling talent.

Opinionated View- Again it's all speculation until something is actually announced. This weekend full video on my thoughts on this.

Adidas Challenging Logo and Trademark for Vince McMahon’s Alpha Entertainment

– PWInsider reports that clothing and sneaker company Adidas is challenging Vince McMahon’s trademark for Alpha Entertainment, the new entity he’s using to relaunch the XFL that was announced last year. According to the report, a number of Adidas’ subsidiary companies have requested time from the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) to oppose Alpha Entertainment trademarking its logo.

Adidas is reportedly arguing that Alpha’s logo is infringing on the one for Adidas. Currently, Adidas will have until March 6, 2019 to file an opposite or request another question.

It was previously reported in April 2018 that all six of the XFL trademarks that Alpha Entertainment applied to register for were given an initial refusal by USPTO. That refusal was due to the likelihood of confusing from similar XFL trademarks being held by World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE).

WWE Planning Big Push For Lars Sullivan on Main Roster

WWE has plans to give Lars Sullivan a major push once he hits the main roster, according to a new report. The WON reports that Sullivan, who was announced as coming soon to the main roster during Survivor Series, will get a big push once he makes his debut.

At this time, according to the outlet, there is no specific plan for his first program. Sullivan will next be seen on next week’s NXT in a match against Keith Lee. That match was taped last week in San Jose and could be Sullivan’s last appearance for the brand.

Update on Brock Lesnar’s Possible WrestleMania 35 Opponent

– The Wrestling Observer Newsletter (via WrestlingInc.com) has a new update on the current booking plan for Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 35 in April 2019. Per the report, the alleged current plan is for WWE Universal champion Brock Lesnar to face Seth Rollins at the event.

Lesnar is currently slated to next appear at Royal Rumble 2019, where he will reportedly face Braun Strowman. As previously reported, Braun Strowman is out of action to get elbow surgery, but he’s expected to be back and ready to go by January.

The feud would reportedly play off of Roman Reigns, who is currently off TV to battle his reoccurrence of leukemia, in some fashion. Obviously, the Observer has been off in the past regarding WrestleMania matchups, so this news should be taken with a grain of salt. Additionally, it was also reported that WWE has major plans for Drew McIntyre in 2019 as well.

WrestleMania 35 is currently scheduled for April 7, 2019 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. The event will be broadcast live on the WWE Network.

Opinionated View- Rollins is great but how much can he possibly get out of lazy Lesnar.

Are the Elite Starting There Own Promotion

A thread over on Reddit recently revealed that a series of new trademarks have been filed in the state of Florida (specifically Jacksonville) for what could be start of a new wrestling promotion featuring high profile non-contracted WWE talent.

The Wrestling Observer/Figure Four Online reports that trademarks were filed by All Elite Wrestling, LLC on November 5 by the same addresses as the NFL’s Jacksonville Jaguars. This is relevant as Tony Khan has been rumored in recent weeks as backing a new wrestling venture. The Khan family are the owners of the Jaguars.

A variety of names were trademarked (image above) including:

All Elite Wrestling
AEW All Out
All Out
AEW
Double or Nothing
Tuesday Night Dynamite
AEW Double Or Nothing

The “goods and services” section of the trademarks noted these items would be used for merchandise, live streaming PPV content and more.

The Young Bucks, Cody Rhodes, Kenny Omega, Chris Jericho and Jim Ross were all heavily rumored to be part of this venture, more so the Bucks, Rhodes and Omega with their current ROH and New Japan Pro Wrestling deals set to expire shortly.

Jericho and Ross have denied any involvement when asked about the rumors not long ago, while The Elite has expressed publicly that they would be sticking together when current contracts with Ring of Honor and New Japan finish up shortly.

Opiniotnead View- If I had a dollar for every time I heard about some new wrestling company that was supposed to have big money behind it with big name talent being involved, I would have enough money to start own new wrestling company with big name talent involved. Until we for sure see something concrete it all just fun speculation.

Updated WWE TLC Card

WWE also confirmed another championship match for the event on Monday featuring Ronda Rousey defending the RAW Women’s Championship against Nia Jax.

Here is the updated card for TLC as of Tuesday night.

WWE Championship
Daniel Bryan (c) vs. AJ Styles

RAW Women’s Championship
Ronda Rousey (c) vs. Nia Jax

TLC Match
If Strowman wins, he gets a shot at the Universal Title
If Corbin wins, he becomes the permanent GM of RAW
Braun Strowman vs. Baron Corbin

WWE Intercontinental Championship
Seth Rollins (c) vs. Dean Ambrose

Opinionated View- Yikes. Heel Bryan is fun but he's going to have to deal with AJ. Ronda pulled off a miracle and had only good Nia Jax match earlier this year but it will take a miracle to get another one. Why are you putting the 2 big guys in a TLC? Ambrose vs. Rollins is so far the only match that look great.

Report: Braun Strowman suffering from bone spurs in elbow, TLC status is in doubt

We reported yesterday that WWE was pushing a storyline coming out of RAW that Braun Strowman had “sustained serious injuries” following an attack by Drew McIntyre, Bobby Lashley and Baron Corbin last night.

It turns out the storyline was a cover for a legitimate injury in Strowman’s elbow at the moment. The Wrestling Observer/Figure Four Online reports that Strowman has bone spurs in his elbow and is scheduled to undergo surgery as a result.

The same report indicated that while the injury isn’t considered to be serious to the extent of Strowman missing months at time a time, his status for the TLC PPV in four weeks, where he is scheduled to wrestle Baron Corbin, is touch and go.

As reported earlier, the stipulation for Strowman vs. Corbin at TLC is that if Strowman wins, Corbin loses all authority as Acting General Manager of RAW and Strowman would go on to face Brock Lesnar at the Royal Rumble in January for the Universal Championship. If Corbin wins, he gets to be the permanent General Manager of RAW going forward.

Impact Wrestling Reportedly in Talks With Several Networks

During the PWTorch Livecast (via Wrestlezone.com), Mike Mcmahon and Andrew Soucek discussed the future of Impact Wrestling and how Impact is potentially looking to secure a new TV deal with another network. According to a source at Anthem Sports, Impact Wrestling is looking to get a spot back on primetime, but Pop TV was not looking to grant it to the promotion. Additionally, the source also claimed that Impact Wrestling is currently in talks with other networks, including TruTV, WGN, and SyFy.

The report states that if Impact is unable to make the move to another network, the promotion will stay in its current late night time slot on Pop TV. The current Impact deal with Pop TV is set to expire at the end of this year (2018). Impact is currently expected to stay on Pop TV throughout the first part of next year.

Also, Pop TV is reportedly looking into airing Aro Lucha. Some promos for Aro Lucha aired during Impact recently.

Opinionated View- Well screw Pop if they want to replace Impact with some crappy Lucha show. I would love to see WGN. Tru I feel will be like Des America not really into it long term. SYFY just wouldn't fit.

Cody Rhodes to undergo surgery for torn meniscus following NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 13

Cody Rhodes revealed on Friday the MRI results for his knee is one vertical and one horizontal tear on the medial meniscus, which put him out of in-ring action for at least six weeks.

Earlier this month we reported that Cody had stated on his Twitter that during the ROH Global Wars show in Buffalo while he was teasing tossing a shirt into the crowd he “heard a loud pop” in his knee.

We also previously reported that Cody stated following a doctor visit that his MCL/PCL/ACL appeared to be “structurally sound” but his knee appeared to be damaged and would require a scope.

Rhodes is planning on having the surgery following a match he still plans to wrestle at New Japan’s Wrestle Kingdom 13 event at the Tokyo Dome on January 4, 2019 that has yet to be announced.

Rhodes will be rehabbing his knee leading up to his match at Ring of Honor’s Final battle on December 14 in New York where he is still scheduled to face Jay Lethal for the the ROH World Championship.

Rhodes also said he will be at all of his advertised bookings, including an Australian tour later this month for World Series Wrestling for meet and greets only, and that he won’t be wrestling.

Brock Lesnar and Nia Jax Reportedly Have Heat Backstage

Dave Meltzer reported in the latest The Wrestling Observer (via Wrestling Inc) that both Brock Lesnar and Nia Jax have heat on them backstage in the WWE.

Nia’s is due to the injuries received by Becky Lynch after this past Monday’s RAW. Nia punched her right in the face full force and she suffered a broken nose and a concussion. This ruined the Survivor Series match between Lynch and Ronda Rousey, with Charlotte Flair taking her place. This isn’t the first time Jax has caused an injury, which led to the feeling that she’s unsafe in the ring.

However, more wrestlers have been reportedly complaining about Lesnar than Jax. They pointed to the German suplexes he gave Sunil Singh on RAW, although Singh wasn’t injured. Wrestlers are reportedly upset that Lesnar is “bulletproof”. It’s believed the heat on Lesnar is from the wrestlers while the heat on Jax is from the officials and agents.

Opinionated View- For once I full buy this. Remember we heard reports Nia having issues with Alexa after there feud and well how can anyone like lazy fucking Brock.

Becky Lynch Reportedly To Miss Survivor Series

According to Fightful, Becky Lynch reportedly suffered a broken nose and concussion during the show-closing brawl on last night’s WWE Raw. Due to the injuries, Lynch has been pulled from this Sunday’s Survivor Series event, and her match with Ronda Rousey canceled.

Lynch was checked by doctors after the end of Raw and she did not immediately travel with Team Smackdown to Tuesday’s event in St. Louis. She suffered the injury following being hit by Nia Jax during the big brawl. WWE hasn’t officially announced the change at this time.

Update on Becky Lynch getting busted open during RAW and how it likely happened

As reported on last night, Smackdown Women’s Champion Becky Lynch was busted open during the final segment of RAW and remained bloody until the close of the show.

The segment, which featured members of the Smackdown women’s roster “invading” RAW, also saw Ronda Rousey get involved and later attacked by Lynch with a steel chair.

It wasn’t apparent at the time how Lynch got busted open as the camera movement was all over the place during the brawl. It now appears an elbow from Nia Jax was the culprit, as Lynch was spotted falling down and immediately grabbing her face.

Opinionated View- The fact it was Jax least shocking news of the year given how sloppy she is.

Impact Reportedly Seeking New TV Partner For 2019

– Impact Wrestling is reportedly looking for a new TV partner for next year. PWInsider reports that the company, who has been airing its weekly show on Pop TV, is looking for a potential new network to air on.

Update: WWE RAW overrun will be ending starting this Monday on USA Network

To follow up on our earlier report today, Wrestleview.com has confirmed with WWE that the overrun for RAW will be ending starting this Monday night (November 12).

This ends a long running practice by the company, which generally saw the show run five to 15 minutes over in the final hour leading into other programming on the USA Network.

Starting this Monday, the show will have a firm ending at 11:00 p.m. Eastern/10:00 CT. This move was reportedly made after RAW drew its second lowest hour in the shows history this year. The first hour has traditionally drawn the strongest audience for the show on cable in recent years, a dramatic shift from the Monday Night War era.

Opinionated View- Again why don't end the third hour! That would be better than ending an extra 15 mins.

UFC Could Cause Lesnar To Miss Royal Rumble and WrestleMania

The Wrestling Observer (via Wrestling Inc) reports that UFC wants Brock Lesnar to fight at their March 2 show in Las Vegas against Daniel Cormier.

This could cause schedule conflicts with WWE, as it is in the middle of two major shows for the company. Lesnar’s current contract allows him to make appearances in the UFC. The first is the Royal Rumble in January, which would be in the middle of Lesnar’s training camp for Cormier. It’s also possible that if WWE wants him in a match, he might refuse as he wouldn’t want to get injured before the UFC bout. Lesnar is not currently scheduled for December’s TLC PPV. Meanwhile, it would be five weeks before Wrestlemania 35, where he is expected to have a match. So likewise, if he’s hurt fighting Cormier, it could affect his match there.

Meanwhile, there is reportedly a big angle planned that will include WWE stars other than Braun Strowman. It’s unknown who will be involved, but WWE is planning a big push for Drew McIntyre in 2019, while Seth Rollins recently mentioned Lesnar in a promo as possible groundwork for a match.

Finally, the match between Lesnar and Strowman was actually not designed for Strowman to get buried. WWE’s line of thought was that Lesnar took advantage of Baron Corbin’s attack to quickly hit several F5s to win. Even then, Strowman kicked out of multiple finishers from the Beast. WWE is said to be planning another match between the two before Wrestlemania, with the Crown Jewel match serving as a way to get fans behind Strowman finally getting his hands on Lesnar.

Update on Brock Lesnar and when he agreed to terms on his new deal with WWE

Newly crowned Universal Champion Brock Lesnar agreed to terms on a new deal with WWE shortly before the Crown Jewel PPV in Saudi Arabia, as noted in a report by Dave Meltzer over on MMAFighting.com yesterday.

A new report by Meltzer in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter indicates the short-term deal Lesnar signed back in April following WrestleMania was set to expire at Crown Jewel, explaining Lesnar’s booking for the event.

Roman Reigns, who was forced to vacate the Universal Championship a few weeks ago after revealing a renewed battle with leukemia, was scheduled to win the previously booked triple threat against Lesnar and Braun Strowman in Saudi Arabia. At that point, it was assumed Lesnar would go on to focus on his UFC comeback in 2019.

Those plans changed with the Reigns announcement and, per the report, Vince McMahon made plans around October 18 to secure Lesnar to a new deal. This means McMahon was among a very small circle of people made aware of Reigns’ leukemia diagnosis. A decision was then made for Lesnar to win back the championship and beat Strowman.

While the actual terms of the deal remain secretive, it is believed to be another short-term deal that could take him through WrestleMania next year in New York/New Jersey. How many dates Lesnar agreed to on this deal isn’t known. Lesnar is booked in a Champion vs. Champion match against WWE Champion AJ Styles at Survivor Series in two weeks.

Unless plans change, Lesnar is not scheduled for the TLC PPV in December and it isn’t known if he will be booked for the Royal Rumble. As reported on yesterday, the new deal with WWE allows him to work for the UFC. Lesnar has been tested six times by USADA and UFC President Dana White indicated that he remains the planned opponent for Daniel Cormier in a UFC Heavyweight Championship fight, in what will be Cormier’s final contracted fight with the UFC before retiring. That fight is planned for March 2. Cormier addressed the potential fight with Lesnar last Saturday at UFC 230.

Report: WWE will be ending overrun for Monday Night RAW on the USA Network

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful.com is reporting that WWE will be ending its overrun for RAW on Monday night beginning with the show this week on November 12.
In a practice that dates back to the 1990s during the Monday Night War era, RAW would normally run anywhere from five to 15 minutes over in the final hour of the show.
That appears to be ending starting with this Monday night as the show will have a “hard out” at 11:00 p.m. Eastern/10:00 CT. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports this move was made after RAW drew its second lowest hour in the shows history this year.
Historically, the overrun had a pattern of being the most watch segment. That has changed drastically over the years for RAW on cable, especially during the era of the show moving to three hours and with the first hour typically now drawing the strongest audience.
Opinionated View- What they really need to do is get rid of the third hour

Opinionated View- So since they are airing two episodes at a time are they just trying to burn through the series? Also call me old fashioned but Andrews is wrestling on 205 Live as well and it not supposed to be the same venue. I just don't like stuff like that. If you are going to act like what is happening is happening at the moment don't air the same guy in a match some where else later on.

Jose Lothario, best known for his role as Shawn Michaels’ trainer, passes away at 83

WWE has confirmed the passing of Jose Lothario, who at one point was one of the biggest stars in the history of pro wrestling in Texas. Lothario was 83 years old.

Lothario is best known to WWF/WWE fans as the trainer of Shawn Michaels and was featured on programming back around the time of WrestleMania 12 when Michaels was preparing for his Iron Man Match against Bret Hart for the WWE Championship.

F4WOnline reports that Lothario was a regular challenger to former World Champions such as Dory Funk Jr., Harley Race, Jack Brisco and Terry Funk in Texas, along with a long-standing feud with Gino Hernandez in the Houston area.

Lothario worked closely with Michaels when he opened a wrestling school in San Antonio, which is where Daniel Bryan and Brian Kendrick were trained early in their careers.

WWE issued the following statement:

Lothario became an effective mentor only after establishing his well-traveled reputation as a gritty grappler. As an NWA mainstay, he helped usher in popular Mexican wrestling styles to the sports-entertainment scene in the United States. His fans knew him best as “Super Sock,” a nickname recognizing the punches Lothario used to dole out during his past experiences in boxing.

Lothario even briefly displayed his considerable talents before the WWE Universe, most notably by humbling Jim Cornette in a match at In Your House 10: Mind Games.

Anthem Sports Seeks Dismissal of Jeff Jarrett's Lawsuit

Impact Wrestling, is in the midst of a lawsuit from Jeff Jarrett and Global Force Entertainment. PWInsider published a new lengthy report with the latest on the lawsuit today, including the response by Anthem Sports to the lawsuit.

Previously, Jarrett and GFE filed a copyright infringement lawsuit against Anthem and Anthem Wrestling Exhibitions, LLC. The suit was filed on August 10 in the United States District Court of Tennessee. Jarrett and Global Force want a jury trial and an injunction that would prevent Anthem from copying, distributing, selling, offering for sale and displaying the GFW Amped content. Amped was the TV show that was previously filmed GFW in its earliest days.

Additionally, the injunction would prevent Anthem from using Global Force Wrestling and GFW names, the logo and anything that is similar to it, including “but not limited to, Global Wrestling Network, GWN, and the GWN logo.” On November 1, Anthem Sports filed a motion to the court to have the lawsuit dismissed.

Anthem responded to the lawsuit stating that Jarrett’s legal team failed “to state an adequate claim of copyright infringement” over the Global Force Wrestling Amped shows that Impact aired as pay-per-view shows. Additionally, Anthem also claims no official copyrights were filed on the material before the lawsuit was filed. The report indicates that is why Jarrett and his team tried to have a court order filed that would see Impact Wrestling hand over the Amped master tapes. That way they could file the copyrights on the 16 hours of GFW Amped content in question.

Another part of the lawsuit is that Jarrett is alleging that Anthem “violated Jeff Jarrett’s exclusive property rights to his own name, photograph, and other likeness.” To that, Anthem Sports responded, “Jeff Jarrett has previously authorized the use of his name and likeness as a trademark and Defendants own that trademark.” That means that Anthem is legally stating that after the company acquired TNA/Impact from Dixie Carter’s Impact Ventures, LLC, that included Jarrett’s likeness. The company’s legal response also reportedly had a statement from Jarrett giving consent to TNA Entertainment, LLC back in 2006.

The legal response by Anthem Sports contests that they can’t be sued in the state of Tennessee since Anthem is based in Canada out of Toronto. Anthem Sports wants to be dismissed as a defendant in the case, noting that Anthem Sports and Anthem Wrestling Exhibitions are two separate companies, and Anthem Sports is cited as a “holding company” that does not have “any day-to-day operations of any kind.”

Magistrate Judge Joe Brown reportedly ordered all discovery for the lawsuit be completed by July 1, 2019. If the lawsuit is not dismissed, it could go further into next year before it’s settled or tried in a court of law.
