Details on Plans For New GFW Series Format

– As reported earlier this week, GFW has partnered with the team behind American Ninja Warrior for a new series that will create a “revamped wrestling format.” Wrestling Inc has some details on the series, noting that the show will run for thirteen weeks.

The plan as of right now is to produce the show in thirteen-week seasons each year, similar to the scripted “limited series” format that has become popular with networks lately. If the show becomes more successful that could expand, and PPV has also been discussed. The company will tape matches over several events, which will narrow a group of indie talent down to 16 by way of a panel of three “industry expert” judges. It’s possible that Jim Cornette may be one of the judges.

The final sixteen will be featured at a TV taping in Las Vegas later in the year to determine a winner. The company is in talks with a major cable network and plan to make announcements in May.

Opinionated View- So much about this makes me want to yell and scream about how stupid this is. I mean it sounds like Tough Enough. I sure as hell don't want to watch Tough Enough espically with Cornette as a judge. Since Cornette has shown he knows jack and shit about talent in this era. Than again I can't to upset after all still no debut date set, no TV network announced.

But man this worries me. I mean come on Jarrett I get taking your time but it sounds like you restarted all of a sudden like the shows you already tapped are being ejected in favor trying to reinvent the wheel.
