Yesterday, the UK launch of the WWE Network was delayed until futher notice only twenty minutes before it was set to happen. Many people have blamed Sky Sports, which currently carries WWE programs and PPV in the UK. Dave Meltzer said on The Wrestling Observer Radio that Sky wasn’t happy that WWE was giving Survivor Series away for free on the Network. Sky Box Office was selling it for £14.95.
However, the Sky.com community manager seems to deny this with the following statement: “Hi all, Please be advised that the the delay on the WWE Network is in no way related to Sky. As previously advised, this is an independent service which Sky will not be providing.”
On Twitter, @SkyHelpTeam replied to a WWE fan about the situation. They wrote: “@jordanwwe19 Good afternoon, Jordan. Thanks for the tweetWe understand that the WWE Network release date has been delayed and this isn’t a decision that we have made and instead it was made by the WWE. You can get some confirmation on this here on our Community Forum. I appreciate that the delay is frustrating and would suggest directing any questions about it to the WWE themselves. If there is anything else I can do for you today, please let me know.”
WWE hasn’t commented on why the Network was delayed.
