- According to Wrestling Observer Radio (via WrestleZone), WWE and Triple H are looking to sign NFL players, specifically ones with more name value than those the company has previously signed. The feeling is that to secure the bigger names that the company will have to make them much higher money offers than those of other developmental talents.
On last week's WWE conference call, Triple H noted that he and the WWE will take talent wherever it came from (NFL, Independents, Internationally) because talent is talent, and good is good.
Opinionated View- Where to even start? High profile NFL players can make a living in the NFL! And if they have retired or been cut and can't get signed that means its someone who is older and has had years of wear on tear on the body meaning they won't be able to last long in wrestling. Also from what I have seen a lot of NFL players stay in football after there career is over some become broadcasters other coaches or work in front office.
And yes there have been football players that made the transition to pro wrestling but not all of them have been that good. Talent is talent but football talent is not wrestling talent! Using that same argument why don't they sign a great musician since talent is talent. I'm not against brining in a NFL players but for the most part the best talent are people that started off as wrestlers
