9/6 WWE Smackdown Report

The Smackdown openings hits. We go live to Lincoln where Mauro Ranallo welcomes us to the show. Inside the ring, we see Smackdown General Manager Daniel Bryan starting up a “YES” chant. The Smackdown Women’s Championship is on a table by him.
Bryan says in five days at Backlash we will see the first ever Women’s Six Pack Elimination Challenge to crown the first ever Smackdown Women’s Champion. He announces a six women’s tag team match will take place later tonight, but first a forum takes place.
He introduces Becky Lynch. Bryan picks up Lynch being the first women’s draft pick. He asks her what it would be like to win the title this Sunday. Lynch said it would make all the sacrifice worth it and feels everything she has fought for has brought her to this moment.
Natalya is out next to interrupt her. She yells out, “Boring!” Natalya is upset she is stuck on Smackdown with Becky and is tortured by her unnatural hair color. Alexa Bliss appears literally out of no where with a mic and calls them both whiners. She also refers to Bryan as a Bella trophy husband. Carmella suddenly appears in the ring and introduces herself. She brings up what she did to Nikki Bella last week. Alexa and Carmella start arguing. Bryan grabs the title off the table as Natalya, Carmella and Alexa Bliss approach. Naomi hits the ring. Here comes Nikki Bella to even things up. A brawl breaks out.
Backstage, Dean Ambrose is enjoying catering and runs into a backstage person. He pours extra sugar in a coffee for the staff member.
-Commercial Break-
Backstage, Daniel Bryan tells Shane McMahon that maybe next time he can handle the Smackdown women’s crew. Shane thinks the six women’s tag match will be explosive. The Miz walks up with Maryse. He’s not happy about being forced to defend his title against a “loser” like Dolph Ziggler at Backlash. Miz said Bryan still can’t get over what he said to him a few weeks ago. Bryan said unlike Miz, the girls actually fight and brings up how Miz was the one that walked away from Ziggler. He tells Miz he can hand over his title if he doesn’t want the match at Backlash. Miz’s music hits and he walks off inside the arena.
Dolph Ziggler is at ringside on commentary for the next match.
Non-title Match
WWE Intercontinental Champion The Miz w/ Maryse vs. Apollo Crews
Crews with a quick shoulder tackle early on Miz. Crews with two quick takedowns. Miz with kicks and punches to Crews in the corner. Crews blocks a headlock takedown. Crews with a series of counters and a big dropkick on Miz. Miz bails. Crews with a moonsault off the ring apron catching Miz on the outside as we head to a commercial break.
-Commercial Break-
We are back live as Miz is eating right hands from Crews. Crews with a close roll up for a two count. Miz responds with a backbreaker over the leg and neckbreaker combo for a two count. Series of sunset flips attempts between Miz and Crews. Miz drops Crews with a big boot. Miz with a clothesline in the corner on Crews. Crews with an overhead belly-to-belly release suplex on Miz after Miz jumped off the corner. Crews with clotheslines, kick to the jaw and splash in the corner. Crews with a flying clothesline. Miz appears to rake the eyes of Crews as Miz rolls out of the ring. Miz slaps Ziggler at ringside. Crews goes for a baseball slide. Crews nearly hits Ziggler. Miz shoves Crews into Ziggler and then pushes Crews into the ring post. Back inside the ring, Miz hits the Skull Crushing Finale and gets the pinfall.
Winner: The Miz
After the match, Dolph Ziggler grabs the WWE Intercontinental Championship and throws it on the mat daring Miz to get inside the ring. Miz whispers something to Maryse. Maryse gets inside the ring and grabs the title. Ziggler yells at Miz calling him a coward. He tells Miz that Maryse won’t help him this Sunday. Miz grabs the title and holds it up.
Backstage, Renee Young is with AJ Styles. Footage from last week’s main event is shown where Dean Ambrose crotched Styles on the top rope. Styles slaps the table and calls over a WWE production assistant asking if he was the one that played that footage. He suggests breaking his headset and blaming it on the production guy to get him fired.
-Commercial Break-
A video package runs looking at American Alpha.
Backstage, The Usos are warming up and talk about facing American Alpha tonight. They have respect for them, but will let them know The Usos still run this division.
Backstage, Bray Wyatt is on a rocking chair cutting a promo. He talks about being a predator and brings up survival of the fittest. Wyatt says Randy Orton is no longer the great predator he once was and he represents the evolution of man. “I’m a God, Randy.”
Nikki Bella is out next for the next match.
-Commercial Break-
Nikki Bella, Becky Lynch and Naomi vs. Natalya, Alexa Bliss and Carmella
We start with Naomi and Alexa Bliss. Naomi with a series of kicks and then a big kick that drops Bliss. Tag to Carmella quickly. Naomi with a waist lock takedown on Carmella and starts spanking her. Tag to Becky Lynch who works over the left arm of Carmella. Becky with a backslide pinfall for a two count. Tag to Nikki Bella. Carmella quickly jumps out.
-Commercial Break-
We return as Becky takes out Carmella with a clothesline and dropkick combo. Becky with a corner elbow and overhead suplex on Carmella for a two count. Natalya gets the tag and gets Becky down in a headlock to keep the action grounded. Becky fights to her feet and tosses Natalya away. Natalya drives Becky to the corner and tags in Bliss. Bliss with a few shots and tag back to Natalya who snapmares Becky down. Natalya with a shot on Nikki and connects with a sitdown suplex for a two count on Becky. Becky with a small package for a two count. Natalya quickly takes out Becky with a clothesline. Tag back to Bliss. Bliss misses an elbow. Hot tag to Nikki. Nikki with clotheslines and a dropkick to Bliss. Nikki misses a corner shot, connects with an elbow and then a springboard kick from the corner. Bliss with a jawbreaker to cut off Nikki and tags in Carmella. Nikki has Carmella up in a fireman’s carry and drops her down. Bliss breaks up the pinfall. Natalya with a spinning clothesline on Nikki. Naomi with a shot on Natalya. Bliss dumps Naomi out. Bliss with a shot on Nikki using her knees and Becky tackles Bliss out of the ring. Carmella with her Code of Silence submission around the neck of Nikki. Nikki tries to hold out, but is forced to tap out.
Winners: Natalya, Alexa Bliss and Carmella
Later tonight, WWE World Champion Dean Ambrose and AJ Styles will face off.
The Smackdown Tag Team Title Tournament continues tonight featuring Heath Slater and Rhyno vs. The Hype Bros. The Usos vs. American Alpha is up next.

Smackdown Tag Team Title Tournament – Semifinals Match
The Usos vs. American Alpha
The Usos extend hands. American Alpha shakes back. The bell rings and The Usos attack Chad Gable and Jason Jordan immediately. Jordan eats a quick samoan drop. The finish literally happened so fast I nearly missed it as Gable and Jordan hit the Grand Amplitude on Jimmy (after dumping Jey out) and get the quick pinfall. Jordan can’t believe it.
Winners and advancing to the finals at Backlash: American Alpha
After the match, The Usos attack Gable and Jordan. The Usos launch Jordan right into the steel ring post. Jey Uso with a jumping kick to the lower ankle of Gable. Jimmy goes up top as Jey holds Gable. Jimmy drops down over the leg/ankle of Gable. The Usos jump out of the ring and stare down American Alpha. Jordan checks on Gable.
-Commercial Break-
Back live, JBL said he is embarrassed by what The Usos have just done.
Backstage, Randy Orton reacts to comments by Bray Wyatt earlier tonight. Orton has a story for Wyatt. It’s about a snake waiting patiently and then striking at the right moment.
Inside the ring, Fandango has a mic and quiets the crowd. He says his tag team partner Tyler Breeze is not available tonight. Fandango brings an older woman with tattoos in the ring. Some music plays and Fandango starts dancing with the woman. She said her hips are the truth and Fandango can’t handle the truth. The woman leaves the ring. Kane’s pyro goes off and he heads to the ring. Kane with a chokeslam on Fandango.
Backstage, we see AJ Styles walk by some WWE staff. He asks if they were trying to take a picture of him. A man says no and that he is looking at a picture of his family. Styles grabs the phone and smashes it off a wall. He says he is the face that runs this place.
A video package runs focusing on Connor’s Cure.
The Hype Bros vs. Heath Slater and Rhyno is up next.

Smackdown Tag Team Title Tournament – Semifinals Match
The Hype Bros vs. Heath Slater and Rhyno
We see a slew of Heath Slater’s kids sitting front row including plenty of red heads.
The bell rings and we start with Heath Slater and Zack Ryder. Slater with a shoulder block early on Ryder. Slater with an atomic drop and clothesline combo. Ryder catches Slater with knees in the corner and follows that up with a quick missile dropkick. Ryder sends Slater to the corner and tags in Mojo Rawley. Mojo with a takedown on Slater and then connects with a high back body drop. Mojo clotheslines Slater over the top rope. Tag to Ryder who dropkicks Slater through the ropes. On the outside, Mojo takes out Rhyno with a clothesline.
-Commercial Break-
We return live with Mojo sending Slater to the corner. Mojo misses a corner splash. Hot tag to Rhyno who gets a huge reaction. Rhyno with shots on Ryder including a spear in the corner. Rhyno with a huge spinebuster on Ryder and Mojo breaks up the pinfall attempt. Slater tags himself in and dumps Mojo over the top rope. Rhyno levels Mojo on the outside with a clothesline. Ryder with a close roll up on Slater for a two count. Ryder with a drop toe hold on Slater to the second turnbuckle. Rhyno pulls Slater out of the way to avoid the Broski Boot. Rhyno tags himself in and fires himself up for the Gore. Rhyno with a Gore that connects on Ryder. Rhyno hooks the leg and gets the pinfall.
Winners: Heath Slater and Rhyno
After the match, Heath Slater celebrates with his “kids” at ringside. The finals at Backlash this Sunday night will be American Alpha vs. Heath Slater and Rhyno to crown the first ever WWE Smackdown Tag Team Champions.
Backstage, Renee Young says Shane McMahon will join Talking Smack later tonight with an update on American Alpha and the injury status of Chad Gable. The Usos walk up and talk about the fans turning their backs on them in favor of American Alpha. They said they are done with that and throw down the mics leaving.
Backstage, a WWE hairdresser is getting Dean Ambrose ready. Ambrose will go face-to-face with AJ Styles next before Backlash this Sunday.

Dean Ambrose and AJ Styles face-to-face before Backlash
WWE World Champion Dean Ambrose is out first and heads to the ring with a mic.
AJ Styles is out next and grabs a mic.
Charly Caruso is in the middle of both introducing Ambrose and Styles. Ambrose suggests that Caruso leaves the ring because he has a feeling things could turn out bad tonight. He said he has a gift for Styles. Ambrose hands Styles a bag. Styles opens the bag and inside is an old participation bowling trophy. Ambrose said that is the only trophy he is ever going to get from him. Styles tells Ambrose he has no idea who he is dealing with.
Ambrose has footage played from last week when he crotched Styles on the top rope. He said that is why they call this high risk. Styles asks Ambrose if he thinks that is funny. Ambrose said everyone thought that was funny. He said he was just trying to give him a high pitched voice to go with his “soccer mom haircut.” The crowd in Lincoln starts up a “SOCCER MOM” chant. Styles tells Ambrose to shut up along with the crowd.
Styles points out a trophy he collected at SummerSlam by defeating John Cena showing off Cena’s sweatband. He said he is going to take the WWE World Championship from Ambrose just like how he took the sweatband from Cena. Styles is begging Ambrose to take him as a joke. “John Cena took me very, very seriously. And I beat him clean right here in the middle of a WWE ring.” Styles said Ambrose is no John Cena. Ambrose says you are damn right he isn’t John Cena. He said when you face him, it’s a battlefield and he drags guys to places where they have never been before. Ambrose brings up beating Styles before and how he will do it again this Sunday at Backlash. He refers to Styles as the “face that comes in second place.” Styles with a low blow kick to Ambrose who goes down fast. Styles breaks the trophy over his knee and starts yelling down at Ambrose. Mauro Ranallo hypes the title match this Sunday at Backlash.
