Flashback Reviews TNA Slammiversary 2007

During it's first five years TNA used the World Heavyweight and Tag Team Championships of the NWA. Using those titles allowed the company to give history to there championships and have the belts mean something. But by 2007 TNA didn't need the NWA anymore and it was time to crown the first ever TNA World Heavyweight Champion. Now all the belts got a new look the NWA belts had been returned to the NWA and figured why not update the X-Division title why we are at it. Team 3D who won the NWA tag belts a few weeks before were named TNA tag champions. The world title match at Sacrifice had ended with controversy. Christian was champing going into the three way match. Sting had been pinning Cage when Kurt Angle put Sting in a ankle lock. Sting tapped out just as one referee counted three. So the title was declared vacant the winner of the King of the Mountain would be the champion. This was a great idea. KOTM was one of TNA trademark matches so its like the Royal Rumble in 92. This show had a number of changes. Scott Steiner suffered a life threatening injury while working a show in Puerto Rico and they had to change the planned tag title match it was supped to be Team 3D vs the Steiner Brothers. Jeff Jarrett was going to be in the KOTM but pulled out of the show when his wife Jill died of cancer. Finally I believe Austin Starr (Austin Aries) was going to face Bob Backlund but than refused to come in on a day off and got let go. So you have  company crowning a new champion of a new title. A card that had been changed and there celebrating being in business for a five years.

In a really nice touch we get the old NWA TNA open from the very first show. We than get a video looking the state of Tennessee and moments from the early days of the company. It's a ice trip back in time we see Ken Shamrock and AJ Styles winning the NWA world title. Hogan attack Jarrett in Japan. We also get rinded of dumb shit like The Flying Elvis and the Midget Matches. We than change up to the modern TNA with guys like Joe, LAX and etc. For some reason the included a commercial for the PPV where Jeff Jarrett broke a guitar over a Tiger Woods look alike. Ok I like a little comedy but that's part of the PPV open? Than we get the band Lo Cash Cowboys performing the theme for Slaimiveary that year. I shtik it was called Get down. It's an ok song and it fits with them ring back in Nashville for this show plus the song wasn't that long.

LAX Homicide and Hernandez with Konnan vs Rhino and Senshi- with Hector Guerrero After LAX lost the tag titles Konnan blamed Hector who had gotten involved (Who had also replaced Konnan on Spanish Commentary) and gone after him Rhino had made the save. Senshi was included because he didn't really have anything else going on. Rhino and Homicide start us off. Homicide puts the bad mouth on the crowd who are really fired up. Headlock by Rhino than a shoulder tackle. Press slam by Rhino. Awful botch when Rhino goes to pick Homicide up for a power bomb but Homicide slips and wind sup getting flung over the top rope to the floor. Back in the ring Rhino hits a big suplex. Tag to Senshi Snapmare by Senshi than the Muta elbow. Bum rush by Homicide and he makes the tag to Hernandez. Leg kick by Senshi than another to keep the big man off him. Senshi goes for a shoulder block but Hernandez won't move and sends Senshi back. Hernandez nails Rhino on the apron but runs into the spin kick by Senshi than he gets kicked two more time. Big clothesline by Rhino who is in illegally. Cover by Senshi but Hernandez tosses him off. Palm strikes by Senshi and he nails Homicide. Hernandez catches Sesnhi's leg and than tosses him across the ring. Big toss using the shirt to choke  by Hernandez and tag to Homicide. Kick by Homicide as Hernandez holds Senshi. Tag to Hernandez after the Homicide uppercut. Catapult into a bear hug suplex by LAX. Tag to Homicide. Power slam by Hernandez  top rope elbow by Homicide get two. Bear hug by Hernandez. Senshi bites to get free. Cracker jack by Hernandez. Hernandez goes for a a power bomb. Series of Punches by Senshi and down goes Hernandez. Double foot stomp by Senshi on the landing. Tag to Homicide and hot tag to Rhino. Power slam by Rhino gets two. Shoulder tackle by Rhino in the corner. Belly to belly suplex by Rhino on Hernandez when he tries to get involved. Spin buster on Homicide. Hernandez breaks up the pin. Senshi spring off the ropes but gets caught by Hernandez who tosses him back. Hernandez charges but Senshi drops and pulls down the ropes and the big man goes to the floor. Spring board dive by Senshi takes out Hernandez. Ace crusher by Homicide on Rhino. Konnan hands off the slap jack  weeping to Homicide. Hector takes it and when than snaps Homicide's Jaw on the ropes. GORE by Rhino for the win. Really good hot opening tag match.  I do think LAX should have won since they were the regular tag team but I think was meant to be a one and done feud.

Mike and Don brag about being TNA originals as they welcome us to the show. They start talking about the injury to Scot Steiner and how he won't be able to be at the show. We than get the run down on the rest of the card. We than get a video package hyping the main event seems kind of early to air this one. But they are making a big deal out of who will be the final one in the match. JB is outside of Cornette's office. He says he's there to get update on who will be in KOTM and what will happen to the tag title match. Eric Young pops up in the shot. EY asks if there alone and JB points to the camera. JB says it's do or die time for Eric. Miss Brooks comes up to Eric and start hitting on him. Telling Eric he doesn't have to go through with this match tonight. JB and Gail Kim both warn Eric not to do it. Gail finally gives EY a kiss from a real woman. It's an ok segment that plays into the history of Eric Young's story. Plus LLEY

X-Division Championship Chris Sabin © vs Black Machismo Jay Lethal - Kevin Nash who on screen had becomes a supporter of the X-Division and was given the credit for the Black Machismo gimmick comes out this match and will do commentary. "Guru" Sonjay Dutt comes as well and spreads rose petals. They play his match up as Sabin being the guy with title match experience based off four title reigns while Lethal was the upstart. Big jab by Lethal than another one. Arm drag off the second rope than a hip toss by Lethal. Elbow to the head and jabs by Lethal rocks Sabin. Lock up in the corner and the referee forces the break letting Sabin land a cheap shot. Double ax by Sabin. Head scissors takedown by Lethal and Sabin goes to the floor. Suicide dive by Lethal whips out Sabin. Double sledge off the top by Lethal. Running back elbow by Lethal gets two. Back to the jabs. Sabin spits in the face and than lands jumping knee. Bulldog by Sabin gets two. Sabin uses the ropes to choke Machismo. Garvin stomp by Sabin than a back senton gets two. Sabin ties up Lethal's head and knees. Knee to the gut by Sabin. Running lariat by Lethal than the dropkick to retake momentum. Sabin goes for a low blow but Lethal catches the leg. Thumb to the eye by Sabin Sabin with the series of jabs and slaps to the head. Flying back elbow by Sabin and than pain brushes. Arm drags by Lethal. Flying for arm by Lethal than the second rope moonsault press. Twisting suplex by Lethal gets two. Running Mafia kick by Sabin in the corner. Lethal gets sat on the top rope. Sabin with the rana but Lethal holds onto the ropes. Wheel borrow suplex like move by Lethal gets two. Lethal to the top rope. Sabin cut him off but Lethal knocks Sabin down. Lethal dives into a back kick Series of Kicks by Sabin gets two. Cradle shock is blocked. Lethal goes for the dragon sleeper but Sabin back him into the corner to break the full nelson. Side roll by Sabin gets two. Lethal combo is blocked. Lethal escapes the cradle shock again and hits an enziquri. Superkick by Lethal. Lethal combination by Lethal. Machismo to the top for the big elbow and the win. Decent match it never got to that epic felling. You had a feeling going back in 07 that Lethal was wining because he got so over in the gimmick right way. It's not a bad match but it never really gets out of second gear. Post match Nash comes in the ring and celebrates the big win.

Backstage Leticia Cline tries to ask James Storm about spitting beer in the face of Frank Wycheck. Storm cuts her off and rants about Wycheck  breaking guitar on his head. Storm points Wycheck and the Titans lost there Super Bowl Storm than says he will give Wycheck the last concussion he will ever get. Whychecks NFL career hand ended due to repeated concussions and it's a good line to end the promo on.

James Storm with Jackie Moore and Ron Killings vs Jerry Lynn and Frank Wycheck with Kyle Vanden Bosch- Wycheck is a former NFL player for the Tennessee Titans. Vaden Bosch was still active player so this was about TNA getting some local press. It was originally going to be a one on one match with Wycheck and Storm but TNA changed it to a tag match. Smart move because that allows Wycheck to still limited in the ring. But sadly they picked Killings to be in this match. Lynn and Killings start. Lynn mocks Killings dancing. Punches by Killings. Back heel kick by Killings. Jumping back elbow by Lynn than an arm drag. Tag to Storm who works over the arm. Lynn tags in Wycheck. Don points out while Wycheck may not be a wrestler he is a very large guy who had a great NFL career. Head lock by Storm than a shoulder tackle. Wycheck goes down and grabs his head. WEll Wycheck is already a better wrestler than a lot of guys since he was smart enough to sell. Killings and Storm take some time to mock The Titans. Headlock again by Storm. Wycheck tries to power him off but Storm holds onto the hair.Second time Wycheck gets free but another shoulder block by Storm sends him down. Storm shoves Wycheck. Shoulder tackles and  drop kick by Wycheck. Storm to the floor. Killings in and tries for kick but Wycheck moves and Killings crotches himself. Killings to the floor. Wycheck picks up Lynn and tosses hi onto Killings and Storm. Atom drop by Wycheck. Storm skins the cat but Lynn with a drop kick. Wycheck chase after Killings but Storm nails him with a clothesline. Storm puts the football player back in the ring. Storm with a running kick to the head. Killings gives Storm a chair. Since this isn't ROH where the refer just ignores weapon Rudy Charles takes it form Storm. Tag to Lynn. Head scissors by Lynn. Killings trips Lynn on the apron. Eye of the storm by James Storm on Lynn.  Storm has the beer bottle. He goes to nail Wycheck who drops off the apron. Storm spits the beer onto Vanden Bosch. Vaden Bosch tires to jumping the ring and the referee stops him. Killings in no tag. Double flying cross bodies and both men are down. Tag to Storm and tag to Wycheck.  Power slam for Killings and one for Storm. Dropkicks by Wycheck. Double noggin knocker by Wycheck. Clothesline to Killings. Superkick (not yet the last call) by Storm. Vaden Bosch pulls Storm out of the ring. Jackie attack Vaden Bosch. Lynn stomps from from hitting Wycheck with the beer bottle and takes out Storm. Cradle pile driver by Wycheck for the win. You have to grade a match like this different than normal wrestling match. Wycheck falls in the middle of the celebrity wrestlers I have seen. He wasn't great but it cold have been much worse. Ok match and the crowed was fired up to see the local heroes on the show.

Alex Shelley vs Mr. Bob Backlund- Yes that Bob Backlund. TNA had brought him in as a comedy gimmick using the fact the guy appears to be legit nuts. I could get having him come in once but he appeared on TNA for months and would wrestle a few times for them. Backlund is in great shape but the guy was 58 years old here. There wasn't anyone else you could give this spot to? Backlund wants to shake hands. SIngle legs by Backlund keep putting Shelley on the back. Shelley to the floor. Shoulder block by Shelley. Superkick by Shelley than chops. Chop exchange. Hip toss by Shelley and into a key lock. Backlund rolls through for a pin. Shelley rolls back over. Backlund rolls over and picks Shelley up. Slap to the face and than butterfly suplex by Backlund. Atomic drop by Backlund. Chris Sabin runs out as Shelley distracts the referee. Sabin to the top but Backlund shakes the ropes. Drop toe hold on Shelley sends him in Sabin's nuts. Oklahoma roll by Backlund for the win. Well that sucked. It was better than I thought it was going to be based on Backlund being in there. But still it wasn't a good match.

Post match Backlund offers the hand again to Shelley. Sabin goes to lock in the chicken win on Backlund but he reverses. Shelley tires to help but he gets put in the chicken wing wing. Kevin Nash limps out and pulls Backlund off. Jerry Lynn comes out and Nash kicks him. Sabin and Shelley double team Backlund and than Lynn. Jay Lethal out and he goes after Sabin and Shelley. Nash bails out. Lethal asks what is going on? I wish I could say this led to some awesome Shelley and Sabin vs Lethal and Lynn matches. Instead it led to more Backlund BS.

Christopher Daniels appears in the crowd. Daniels talks about the last few weeks with Sting. And says Sting made the mistake in telling him to be true to himself. Daniels says he Sting life as a template and his relationship with "Our Father." Daniels says he always been an Angels sent to be his bidding but his god says an eye for an eye a life for a life. His god has no tolerance for those that wronged him. Daniels promises to win the TNA World Heavyweight Championship. Daniels says in the ring His Will Be Done. Its a great promo by Daniels. At this time he had changed his gimmick growing a beard and adding a a symbol i pain to his face. He came off more as a cult leader like figure. And his feud with Sting was a great starting point.

Voodoo Kin Mafia BG James and Kip James with Lance Hoyt vs Basham and Damaja with Christy Hemme- VKM is renamed James Gang as TNA tried to breath new life into the Old in Age Outlaws. There feud with Hemme started with Kip making some comments about women. And originally I think Christy was supposed to be the face but the fans cheered VKM. Basham and Damaja are the former Doug and Danny Basham from the WWE. They were the latest in a series of Teams Christy brought out to go after VKM and had laid out BG at Sacrifice. All four men brawl at the start. Double team Back body drop by VKM sends Basham into Damaja. Kip goes out to chase Christy and runs her into the ring where BG is waiting. Basham and Damaja recover and go after VKM. Bell rings and the referee takes control. BG and Damaja start. Christy tries to trip BJ as he hits the ropes. Leg lariat by Damaja. Tag to Basham and double team stomps than grinding in the face. Jabs by Basham and he goes to the eyes. Tag to Basham. Drop toe hold by Basham and a knee drop to the face by Damaja. Tag to Basham who hits a side Russian leg sweep. Tag to Damaja but he misses a falling head butt off the top rope.  Tag to Basham and hot tag to Kip. House of fire by Kip. Tilt whirl slam on Basham gets two. Double team suplex attempt by Damaja and Basham but BG spear Damaja. Small package Kip for the win. Short match. I would have given the heels the win to build the heat. Sadly something went down where Basham and Damaja didn't show up for a show. They claim they were told they weren't being used. But they got fired for now showing.

Post match Kip tosses Basham out of the ring and goes after Christy. Kip follower her up the ramp but Big Lance Hoyt comes out to catch her. Hoyt carries Christy back to the ring. Kip acts like he is about to choke slam her and the fans cheer. Lance with a big boot knock out Kip. Damaja and Basham hold BG for Lance to boot him. Christy and Hoyt kiss in the ring (Lucky bastard not Eric Young lucky but still). Hoyt had been an alley of VKM. So this was a story line heel turn for him. I have to wonder if sone of the earlier matches rang long and they had to cut time from this segment.

Backstage Leticia is with Jim Cornette and Rick Steiner. Cornette asks Rick to listen to reason. He apologies for what happened to Scott but tell Rick he has no partner he has to fore fit the match . Rick says no way. Cornette says he can't fight them by himself. Rick says he has a partner he pushes the microphone away and whispers to Cornette. Cornette is shocked but says he's got the match. Leticia asks who is it but Cornball won't tell her. It's a pretty effective segment it would have worked better on a pre show or on Impact.

Back in the arena LAX have jumped Hector Guerrero. In a nice touch they explain that Rhino and Senshi would be on the other side of the building. I think was more of a getting heat back for LAX who had lost some big matches lately. Although by this time I think Konnan was leaving TNA so anything they did have planned was tossed out.

Robert Roode with Ms Brooks vs Eric Young if Young wins he is free from his contract with Robert Roode Inc if Young loses he is gone from TNA.- Robert Roode had undergone a gimmick change while Eric had went full face after Team Canada ended. Roode was upset the comedy gimmick was so loved by the fans so he had Ms (Traci) Brooks seduce Eric into singing a contract for RRI. Roode slaps YOung int he face and than the back of the head. EY blocks one and chokes Roode. The referee breaks it and Rode hits him in the throat. Side step by Young sends Roode to the floor. EY to the top rope but Ms Brooks blocks Roode. EY dives over Brooks to nails Roode. Back in the EY covers and gets two. During the replay Roode has gained control and sends Young to the floor. I get wanting to show a replay of a cool move like that but sometimes its best to just wait until after the match. Roode drops Young on the guard rail and than rams him into it. Cover by Roode gets two. Roode chokes Young on the rips and Brooks hits him tie the rolled up contract. Cover by Roode gets two. Young fires back with punches. Running back elbow by Roode and he covers for two. Roode chokes Young. Snap mare by Roode followed by the rolling neck snap. Chops by Roode. Neck breaker by Roode gets two. Chin lock by Roode. Young power up to the electric chair and hits it. Right hands by Young. Back body drop by Young and a clothing gets two for Young. Up over over to the apron by Young. Ms. Brooks tries for a trip but he jumps over and than pants her. Roode to outside and this lets Young hits a suicide dive. Back to the ring and Young to the top . Top rope elbow gets two for Young. Jaw breaker and short clothesline by Roode. Roode to the second rope and drops his knee pad. Young gets the foot up and kicks Roode under the chin. Roode gets sat on the tope rope. Ms. Brooks into the ring. Young ducks her shot and he gets her up on his shoulders and than rams her head into Roode's gut. Two Person Death Valley Driver by Eric Young. Roode kicks at two. The referee is checking on Ms. Brooks. Roode has a chair. Chair shot to the head of Young. Roode covers and Roode wins. Roode gets a microphone and mocks Young. Jim Cornette comes out from the back. Cornette reminds Roode he was keeping an eye on this match and restarts the match. Roode pounds on Young. EY still isn't moving. Ms Brooks goes to hand Roode the chair. Gail Kim runs out and takes out Brooks and chases her to the back. Young is still down  and Roode toys with him. Roode screams at Cornette this is on his hands. Small package by Eric Young for the win. Pretty good match. The finish isn't' that good. It came off as two mid 70's I also think they should have had Young bleeding after the chair shot.

Backstage JB is with Team 3D. Ray talks about how this is an historic night and this was supposed be a historic night for tag team wrestling as Team 3D and The Steiner Brothers were supposed to meet. Ray says Steiner's real problem is he talked to much crap and says Scott punked out. Ray says he respected the Steiner Brothers until they disrespected Team 3D. Its a good promo by 3D setting the stage for there up coming heel turn that summer. After the graphic for the title match 3D makes there entrance. Ric Steiner comes out alone. Tenay talks about how this was supposed to be a dream match between two great tag teams and again they recap the injury to Scott Steiner. Music starts to play and Road Warrior Animal appears. My first instinct on something like this is to say "Get some young guy or a guy on the roster." But this was supposed to be about legendary tag teams. By adding Animal you get that still. But the fans popped big time and 3D admit they are LOD marks. Hell Devon was doing a little happy dance.

TNA World Tag Team Championship Team 3D Brother Ray and Brother Devon vs Rick Steiner and Road Warrior Animal- Devon and Steiner start us off. Lock up and Steiner drives Devon in the corner. Lock up again and Steiner goes to the eyes and than clubs the back. Devon ducks the clothesline and hits a diving upper cut. Power slam and an elbow drop by Devon gets two. Back body drop by Steiner. Steiner hesitates to tag Animal and this lets Devon gets control and tag in Ray. Weak looking double team shoulder block by 3D. Knee to the gut by Steiner and tag to Animal. Face to face and Animal grabs a head lock. Shoulder block by Animal. Shoulder tackle by Ray. Pile driver by Ray but Animal pops right up. Double clothesline. Really bad moment where they go for the pop right up and face off again thing but are really slow at it Tag to Devon who clubs the back. Devon sets to soon on the back body drop. Tag to Steiner. Ray snaps Steiner's jaw on the top rope. Clothesline by Devon. Club to the back by Devon. Punches int he corner by Devon and than he uses his knee to choke Steiner. Tag to Ray. Neck breaker by Ray gets two. Tag to Devon and a body slam. Devon to the second rope and goes of a head butt. Rick moves. Tag to Animal. Big boot on Devon. Power slam on Ray. Back body drop for both members of 3D. Big punches by Animal on Devon. Ray jumps Animal from behind. Double clotheslines by Animal takes out 3D. Tag to Steiner. Double clothesline by Animal and Steiner. They set for the Dooms day. Double team neck breaker by 3D on Animal. Diving doublet clothesline by Rick on 3D. 3D by 3D on Rick for the win. Bad match. IT sounds cool having so many legends. The problem is by this team 3D was really going down in there work. Rick Steiner had wrestled in years and Animal was a last second replacement who was washed up by this point.

Christopher Daniels vs Sting- After Daniels had undergone a gimmick change he had approached Sting for help. But Daniels twisted Sting's words. Daniels had attacked Sting several times and even cost him a chance to be in the KOTM match. Sting does a rare drop from the rafters entrance. Knee to the gut by Daniels and a head lock. Sting won't' move on a shoulder tackle. Headlock by Sting and a shoulder block. Hip toss by Daniels is blocked. Sting with the hip toss. Another hip toss by Sting and a drop kick. Kick to the leg by Sting. Sting goes for the scorpion death lock but Daniels gets the ropes. Daniels to the floor. Diving clothesline by Sting off the apron. Daniels uses the ring ropes to send Sting flying off the apron and into the guard rail. Daniels tries Sting stomach first into the guard rail. Cover by Daniels in the ring gets two. Gut buster by Daniels. Jumping knee in the corner by Daniels. Sting first back with chops. Daniels dives under and lands some body shots. Elbow drop by Daniels. Sting back to chops. Hip toss by Daniels is blocked. Sting goes for one but Daniels goes to the eyes. Abdominal stretch by Daniels. The referee forces Daniels to break because of the eye attack. Daniels best in Hebner's face. Power slam by Daniels than the split legged moonsault. More shoulder blocks by Daniels. Stinger splash by Daniels. Sting no sells its. Sting fires up and no sells shots by Daniels. Flex by Sting and than his shots. Atomic drop and a clot lies line series by Sting. Face plant by Sting gets two. Leg lariat by Daniels when Sting sets for the stinger splash. Angles wins is countered into a back body drop. Stinger splash but Daniels gets the knees up. Last rights is counted into the Scorpion Death Drop for the win by Sting. This a a pretty short short but it's really good. I compare to a MMA fight where the guys come out throwing big shots early the odds are the fights doesn't last long. And Daniels does a lot of little things here like doing the splash or using Sting series of strikes. Sadly this was one and done feud. I have always thought Sting might have had it called off due to the fact he didn't' want his religion used for a story especially with Daniels coming off as a religious fanatic. Had this feud gone on it could really helped Sting as he was facing a totally new foe and for Daniels he was facing a legend.

Backstage Leticia is with the Christian Collation of Christian Cage, AJ Styles, and Tomko. Cage gets upset when he's called the former champion. Cage says after tonight he no one can call him former again. AJ points out his in the match to. Cage thanks AJ for sacrificing himself for him and hugs him. AJ buys it. Cage tells Tomko to take Abyss out because if he doesn't "he will come after me." Tomko sarcastically tells Christian he will get right on that. I actually forgot how funny AJ, Christian and Tomko were together.

NO DQ Abyss vs Tomko- The Christian Collation had laid out Abyss in a bloody beat down even using a barb wire bat which Gave Abyss some of those scars on his arms. This was just afar Abyss had turned face and broken off with James Mitchell but hadn't started talking yet. The two monsters go noise to noise stiff forearms exchange. Knee to the gut by Tomko and big punches. Abyss ducks a clothesline and than clothesline Tomko over the top to the floor. Tomko pulls Abyss to the floor. Tomko's head rammed into the guard rail than into the steps. Tomko reveres a whip and sends Abyss into the guard rail. Big boot by Tomko knocks Abyss down. Abyss' head rammed into the guard rail and than the steps. Punches to the face by Tomko. Back into the ring. Tomko goes for another big boot but Abyss grabs the throat and goes for a choke slam. Tomko elbows free but runs into the Abyss big boot. Avalanche splash by Abyss  than a hip attack in the corner. Abyss runs into an elbow. Choke slam by Abyss gets two. Abyss pulls out a black bag from under the ring and pours out the thumb tacks. Abyss singles for another chokes slam. Tomko gets free and power bombs Abyss into the tack and covers to get two. Tomko runs into the black hole slam but kicks at two. Yeah I fee it's a little early to do that spot. You gotta protect a fisher better than that. Abyss back under the ring and gets a second bag. We gets a few nasty shots of the tacks still being in Abyss' bare arm. Second bag is filed with broken glass. Tomko with a big running clothesline knocks Abyss down. Tomko picks ups  pice of glass and jabs a Abyss with it. Tomko stomp Abyss' head into the glass. Damn that is hardcore. Tomko picks up a blood cover piece of glass and paints himself with the blood. Both men to the floor. Tomko has the bar wire bat. Shot to the stomach of Abyss and than on the back as they head up the ramp. Another shot to the back. Abyss starts to climbs up the entrance scaffold. Tomko beat him up it and waits on Abyss. The shot with the bat misses and Abyss him off the scaffold. They jump to when Tomko was out and stumbling around on the DVD. On the live show it show Tomko had landed in a pile of boxes and a stunt air mattress. I wish they had left it untouched or just added an extra replay because I feel that edit hurts the huge spot. They head back for the ring both men crawl selling the damage from the match. Tomko up and stomps on Abyss. Tomko runs into the black hole and this time he is slammed into the glass . Abyss covers. Damn good hardcore match. I dislike the editing but other wise it's a damn good match.

Backstage JB is with Kurt Angle and Samoa Joe. Angle says lets do what we got to do. Joe agrees but says he will break Angle. Kurt does the its' damn real line. Good quick promo by the two rivals.

Mike Tenay is in the ring. Tenay talks about the history of wrestling in Nashville and how important Jeff Jarrett has been to it. We than cut to a pre-tapped interview with Jeff Jarrett. Jarrett talks about the history of TNA. Jarrett tells the story of Toby Keith turning down a white house appearance be at the first show. We see some of the early days of TNA including Jarrett's fight with the Titans and him attacking Hulk Hogan in Japan. Jarrett starts talking about this passion for wrestling and than brings up his wife Jill. Jeff starts to break up as talk about how Jill is the on the encouraged him and believed in him. Jeff talks about his wife's passion for life and he battle with cancer. Jarrett explains that he is prepared to wrestle and right now being in a ring is the worst place for him. Jarrett thanks the fans for there support and thanks them on behalf of Jill. This segment is so hard to watch even all these years latter. This isn't a story line or a angle this TNA explaining an very real and tragic situation.

After the video the fans chant for Jeff. Jim Cornette is ring with Tenay. Even Cornette is choked up. Cornette says it's up to him to name the fifth man. Cornette says there were only two options in his mind. He says both men started in Nashville both were with TNA since day one. The first one was Jeff Jarrett who Cornette says insisted this chance go the second man. Cornette introduces Chris Harris. Harris was a perfect choice as he was a TNA original and had had so many great matches in TNA.

The King of the Mountain was always a lot of fun and the format allowed for some unique spots. This was defiantly one of the better ones. Post match Angle celebrates Joe has finally gotten up and stares Kurt down but extends the hand. Kurt kicks Joe and hits the slam.

Over all this is good show but not great. The KOTM is tons of fun and we get a very good NO DQ match. There is some solid stuff in other matches like Young vs Roode but than we crap like Backlund vs Shelley. Production seems off on this show like the director jumped to soon on going to replay a few times missing in ring action. It also felt like Don West and Mike Tenay were a little off missing little calls they normally got. IT's not a bad show but there are other better Slammiversary's out there.
