We started off the night with a match taped for Xplosion with Tigre Uno beat Jessie Godderz. The crowd liked Uno, who won with a backflip splash at 6:00. Next up was Impact (that aired on Thursday). There may have been 300-400 fans in attendance, but it's a small venue so it looked full.
1. Taryn Terrell and Gail Kim beat Angelina Love and Velvet Sky. Taryn and Gail won in 8:00 with a Gail Kim roundhouse kick to Velvet Sky.
2. Sanada defeated Manik, D.J. Z, and Crazy Steve in a four-way to retain the X Division Title. Sanada retained in 7:00. Manik was very impressive and they would do better with just Sanada vs. Manik.
Next up was the celebration of Bobby Lashley becoming the new TNA champ. There was champagne on tables and out came MVP and Kenny King wearing suits and with ladies on their arms. They introduced Lashley, who has a suit and a woman (the brunette women with MVP and King looked like rejects from the Kardashian reality show and Lashley's woman looked like Doris Day years ago).
As any in-ring festivities go, it didn't go without a hitch. Eric Young and Bobby Roode came down to interrupt they tossed them from the ring and drank some of the champagne. A TNA Board of Directors representative came out to relieve MVP of his executive duties.
3. James Storm beat Mr. Anderson in 4:00. Storm countered a Mic Check with a super kick. The continuation of the booze theme and the match made me thirsty so I got an overpriced beer.
Dixie Carter came out to celebrate MVP being demoted and figured she was getting the job. The Board of Directors rep said the new Director of Wrestling Operations was not Dixie. He said he would reveal that man later. Bully Ray came out he threatened violence on Dixie. As he had her in the air ready to put her through a table, EC3 made the save (although he got no blows in of his own). Bully Ray celebrated with leftover champagne from the MVP celebration.
It was announced by Jeremy Borash that today celebrates the 12 year anniversary of the first TNA taping in Huntsville, Alabama.
4. Magnus and Bram defeated Willow and Abyss in a Monster's Ball match. The cool spots included Willow caught on top turnbuckle sent into a table outside the ring and Abyss chokeslamming Magnus on tacks in the ring. Bram, as Gordon Solie would say, was wearing the crimson mask. After a barbed wire shot from Bram, he and Magnus won in ten minutes.
The board opt directors rep announced the new executive in charge of wrestling operations is Kurt Angle, who said it's real, its damn real now that he's in charge. MVP came out with King and Lashley. Roode and EY come out to clear the ring. As MVP, King, and Lashley retreated, Angle announced that Roode is back active in TNA and Young will get his rematch against Lashley for the title.
To close out the Impact taping, we got a five minute hardcore fight between EC3 and Tommy Dreamer, which wasn't won by anybody.
In a match taped for Xplosion, Madison Rayne beat Brittany. Madison Rayne won with a spear in five minutes.
