Jim Ross made comments last week at a Q&A in Scotland that he had no plans to retire and wanted to continue his work in developmental. He said that he would "never" retire and would always be there when WWE needed him. He said the day he retired is the day they would bury him.
There are many who feel that the "retirement" angle of Ross' departure is WWE trying to spin the story to the media.
Opinionated View- Lets call a spade a spade WWE for what ever reason wanted to get rid of him but knowing him being fired again would be a bad thing is calling it a retirement. Wouldn't shock me if JR took the retirement in hopes of coming back someday.
