ROH TV Report


We have three more matches until we get to the SemiFinals and Finals of the Ring of Honor World Heavyweight Tournament.
We are in New York, New York and your announcers are Kevin Kelly and Prince Nana.

Match Number One: Michael Bennett versus Tommaso Ciampa in a Second Round Match (from Manhattan Mayhem)

Bennett goes the floor shortly after the bell rings and then when he gets back on the apron, he returns to the floor when Ciampa gets close. When Ciampa goes to the floor, Bennett returns to the ring. Ciampa goes back into the ring and Bennett goes to the floor. Ciampa goes to the floor again and he grabs Bennett by the legs and he swings him into the guardrails.

Ciampa sends Bennett nto the turnbuckles and follows with an Irish whip and a flying forearm. Ciampa with a snap mare and then he drops down to his knees in front of Bennett and pops up for a drop kick and he gets a near fall. Bennett with a kick and he works on the knee but Ciampa with a slap. Ciampa with a shoulder tackle and then Bennett drops down but Ciampa with a back splash onto Bennett for a near fall.

Ciampa with kicks to the hamstring and then Ciampa with a KneeDT as he works on Bennett’s knee. Ciampa with forearms but Bennett with a kick to the thigh. Ciampa floats over and Ciampa falls to the mat, appearing to have injured his leg, but since Bennett did not see it, Ciampa is only playing with Bennett to sucker him into doing something stupid.

Bennett thinks he has things under control but Ciampa with an inside cradle for a near fall followed by a knee. Bennett with a drop toe hold that sends Ciampa into the ropes. Bennett goes to the floor and hits a drop kick.

They go to the floor and Bennett with forearms to Ciampa. Bennett with a running boot to Ciampa. Bennett puts Ciampa against the guardrail on the other side of the ring. Bennett misses the Yakuza kick when Ciampa moves.

Ciampa with a running knee to the head and then he puts Bennett against the guardrails and Ciampa with another knee to the head. Ciampa sends Bennett into the other corner of the ringside area and Bennett gets up but Ciampa with a German suplex into the guardrails. Ciampa with a running knee that sends Ciampa into the crowd due to the momentum.

They return to the ring and Ciampa sets for Project Ciampa but Bennett runs Ciampa into the turnbuckles. Ciampa gets a boot up and Ciampa goes to the turnbuckles but Bennett with a super kick and Ciampa’s leg gets caught on the top rope as he hangs from the turnbuckles. Bennett works on the knee while Ciampa tries to get free.

Ciampa finally gets back to the mat and Bennett tries to hyperextend the knee. Bennett continues to work on Ciampa’s knee and then he connects with a knee to the head. Bennett with elbows to the knee. Ciampa with forearms to escape. Ciampa struggles to get back to his feet but Bennett returns to the knee. Ciampa with a boot to the head. Bennett catches the leg and he drops down with a knee breaker. Bennett with a KneeDT followed by a slam that has Ciampa’s leg bounce off the ropes. Bennett blows a kiss to Ciampa but he misses a splash into the corner when Ciampa moves.

Bennett and Ciampa exchange forearms on their knees. They get back to their feet and they continue the exchange. Ciampa blocks a punch and he connects with a discus clothesline. Bennett with a super kick. Ciampa with a lariat to Bennett and both men are down. Ciampa gets a near fall.

Ciampa with a Cobra Stretch on Bennett but Bennett is able to get to the ropes. Ciampa releases the hold and he hobbles when he gets back to his feet. Ciampa cannot even come off the ropes for the running knee. Bennett with a spear for a near fall. Bennett tries for a piledriver but Ciampa escapes the hold.

Ciampa misses a knee and Bennett applies a Cloverleaf with his knee in the back. Ciampa grabs the leg and he gets a near fall with an inside cradle. Bennett pulls down the knee brace and he hits a knee to the face and then Bennett with a bulldog and he sits in the ring as if he was someone who knew Maria at some time.

Bennett suggests that someone is going to sleep and he get Ciampa on his shoulder. Ciampa blocks it and Ciampa with Go to Sleep and he gets a near fall. Bennett and Ciampa go to the apron. Ciampa and Bennett exchange punches and cops. Bennett with a kick to the knee and he tries for a piledriver on the apron but Ciampa holds the ropes. Ciampa gets Bennett on his shoulders for an Air Raid Crash on the apron. Ciampa with a knee to the head and Bennett falls off the apron to the floor.

Ciampa with an Air Raid Crash on the floor and he rolls Bennett into the ring and he gets the three count.

Winner: Tommaso Ciampa (Advances to face Adam Cole in the Semifinals at Death Before Dishonor)

Match Number Two: Kevin Steen versus Roderick Strong in a Second Round Match (from Manhattan Mayhem)

We have the Code of Honor before the match starts and Strong with a jumping knee to the head followed by Death by Roderick for a near fall. Steen gets to the apron but Strong with a knee and he sends Steen to the floor. Strong goes for a baseball slide but Steen catches Strong and hits a power bomb on the apron. Steen with a swanton for a near fall.

Steen sets for F-Cinq but Strong gets to the apron. Strong with a shoulder from the apron and Strong tries for a second one but Steen catches Strong and hits a hanging DDT for a near fall. Steen slows things down a little and he calls for a side head lock and he applies it. Steen with a forearm and then he celebrates.

Steen kicks Strong and then he hits a corkscrew elbow to the back followed by a back senton. Steen stands on Strong’s chest and then he has some fun with the fans and referee. Strong with a chop but Steen with a rake of the eyes and a chop.

Strong with a chop but Steen with a forearm and they go back and forth until Steen connects with a knee. Steen with kicks to Strong. Steen sets for a slam but Strong escapes and Strong with a knee in the corner followed by an Olympic Slam. Both men are down. Strong with kicks to Steen’s head.

Strong chokes Steen in the ropes. Strong with a chop in the corner. Steen blocks a chop but Strong with a kick. Strong chokes Steen in the corner. Steen with punches but Strong punches back. Steen with forearms but Strong with a knee to the midsection and a bulldog for a near fall. Strong with a seated abdominal stretch but Steen bites the leg to get Strong to release the hold.

Strong with a forearm to the back. Strong with a chop in the corner followed by a standing drop kick and Strong applauds his work. Strong gets a near fall. Strong sets for a Gibson Driver but Steen runs Strong into the turnbuckles.

Steen runs into a boot from Strong in the corner. Steen with a forearm to Strong but Strong with a knee to Steen. Strong with a kick but Steen blocks it. Strong hits an enzuigiri. Strong tries for a discus forearm but Steen with a clothesline to stop Strong. Both men are down.

Both men get to their feet and Steen with a forearm followed by a fisherman’s neck breaker for a near fall. Steen misses a charge into the corner and Strong with a shoulder and forearms. Strong follows with a chop and he puts Steen on the turnbuckles. Strong sets for a superplex but Steen with forearms to the back. Strong with forearms as the battle continues on the turnbuckles. Strong with a superplex.

Strong rolls Steen over and gets a near fall. Strong applies the Strong Hold but Steen gets to the ropes. Strong sets for a half nelson back breaker but Steen bites Strong’s hand. Steen with a pop up power bomb for a near fall and then Steen tries for the Sharpshooter but Strong kicks his way out of the hold.

Strong tries for Death by Roderick again but Steen blocks it and he locks in the Sharpshooter. Strong makes his way to the ropes and Steen has to release the hold. Steen collapses to the mat. Strong with a leaping knee and he hits Death By Roderick followed by the Sick Kick but Steen kicks out at two.

Strong with forearms and he puts Steen back on the turnbuckles. Strong climbs the turnbuckles and he sets for another superplex but Steen with forearms to the back. STen with a super fisherman’s buster for a near fall. Steen tries for the package piledriver but Strong fights out of it and he connects with forearms.

Strong tries for a suplex but Steen escapes and he hits a sleeper suplex followed by a package piledriver for the three count.

Winner: Kevin Steen (Advances to face winner of Karl Anderson versus Michael Elgin in the Semifinals at Death Before Dishonor)

Match Number Three: Michael Elgin versus Karl Anderson in a Second Round Match (from Manhattan Mayhem)

They shake hands so the Code of Honor will be followed.

Elgin with a boot to the head as the bell rings. Anderson and Elgin exchange forearms and boots. Anderson with forearms and Elgin fires back. Anderson with a side head lock and shoulder tackle but Elgin does not move. Anderson tries again and he tells Elgin to try. Elgin blocks a hip toss. Anderson blocks a power bomb and then he tries for an Ace Crusher but Elgin escapes. Elgin with a rollup for a near fall.

Elgin wants a test of strength but Anderson with a kick to the midsection followed by an elbow to the back of the neck. Anderson with a forearm and side head lock. Elgin with a shoulder tackle and Anderson goes down. Elgin gets a near fall. Elgin with a forearm in the corner but Anderson with a chop. Elgin chops back.

Elgin with a hard Irish whip and he looks around before getting Anderson up for a delayed vertical suplex and holds Anderson up for more than half a minute and Elgin gets a near fall. Anderson rolls to the floor to regroup and gets his bearings back.

Elgin tries for a splash off the apron but Anderson catches him and Anderson sends Elgin into the guardrails. Anderson puts Elgin in a seat at the corner of the guardrails. Anderson with a bicycle kick and he returns to the ring. Anderson tells the referee to start the count.

Elgin struggles to get back into the ring but he does before the twenty count. Anderson with kicks to the head. Anderson with a kick to the back of the knee and the front of the knee. Anderson puts the leg in the ropes and then he hits a drop kick to the left knee.

Anderson starts to work on the right knee as well. Elgin with kicks but Anderson grabs the left leg and he connects with an elbow to the knee. Anderson chokes Elgin in the ropes. Anderson with a cravate into a snap mare and rear chin lock. Elgin with elbows and punches. Elgin runs into a leg lariat and he gets a near fall. Anderson climbs on top of Elgin and he punches Michael in the head. Anderson with a boot to the head. Anderson with a slam and he misses a back senton.

Elgin gets his second wind as he gets back to his feet. Elgin with clotheslines to the front and back of the neck. Elgin with a running clothesline into the corner and then he sends Anderson across the ring and does the same. Elgin with an Oklahoma Stampede for a near fall. Elgin tries for a dead lift German but Anderson with elbows to escape.

Anderson holds on to the ropes when Elgin tries for an O’Connor Roll. Elgin catches Anderson and hits a spinning Bossman Slam and a near fall. Elgin points to the turnbuckles so it appears to be Buckle Bomb time. Anderson blocks the set up and Anderson gets Elgin on his shoulders. Elgin with elbows to gets out of the hold.

Anderson blocks a lariat but Elgin with a clothesline against the ropes and Elgin with Neverending Story against the ropes. Elgin winds up for a lariat but Anderson with a spinebuster for a near fall. Anderson runs into the corner an Elgin with an uranage. Elgin goes up top for a corkscrew moonsault but Anderson moves.

Elgin gets to his feet after Anderson has Elgin up. Elgin with a forearm to the back of the neck and then Elgin with a deadlift German suplex and bridge for a near fall. Elgin goes up top again but he takes too long and Anderson with a flying Yakuza Kick. Anderson gets Elgin on his shoulders while on the turnbuckles and he hits a super TKO for a near fall. Anderson picks up Elgin and he hits Emerald Frosion for a near fall.

Anderson signals that it is over and he waits for Elgin to get up. Anderson tries for an Ace Crusher but Elgin counters with a backslide for a near fall. Elgin applies the Crossface but Anderson gets to the ropes and the referee calls for the break.

They go to the apron and Elgin picks up Anderson. Anderson with a boot to Elgin that staggers Elgin. The referee checks on Elgin but Elgin wants to continue. Anderson goes up top and Elgin with a forearm to stop Anderson. Elgin climbs the turnbuckles and Anderson bites the head. Elgin with an enzuigiri that knocks Anderson off the turnbuckles and onto the apron. Elgin goes to the turnbuckles for the dead lift superplex and he gets a near fall.

Elgin pounds on the turnbuckle to suggest the buckle bomb is coming? Elgin with the buckle bomb but Anderson with a flying Yakuza Kick. Elgin with a super kick. Anderson with a bicycle kick. Elgin with a bicycle kick of his own. Elgin misses a back fist and Anderson tries for an Ace Crusher but Elgin blocks it.

Elgin with a back elbow and forearm. Elgin sets for a suplex and turns it into a sit out spinebuster for a near fall. Elgin tries for another buckle bomb but Anderson escapes. Anderson cannot hit the Ace Crusher and Elgin sends Anderson into the corner. Elgin with a charge into the corner but Anderson moves. Anderson misses a Yakuza kick in the corner. Elgin with a back fist. Elgin with another back fist followed by the Buckle Bomb and sit out power bomb for the three count.
