WWE Reportedly Looking Into Weekly Cruiserweight Classic TV Series for the Network

During a recent edition of Wrestling Observer Radio Dave Meltzer addressed the rumor of WWE creating a weekly Cruiserweight Classic series that would air on WWE Network. The idea for this show is not for it to be a traditional tournament similar to the original. Instead, it would be more an episodic NXT type of show, featuring cruiserweight talents from all across the globe. Additionally, cruiserweights already signed by WWE would appear on the show.

The plan for this show is still reportedly only in the discussion phase. WWE has not revealed any official plans for a weekly Cruiserweight Classic TV series. It’s unknown how this could potentially affect the cruiserweight division currently featured on Raw, or who would work the show.

Opinionated View- This might be for the best. On Raw the division just feels like such an after thought. The problem is it still could come off like a second rate NXT in this format.
