According to Pwinsider.com, Daniel Bryan is scheduled to go to Pittsburgh, PA this week. This is where Dr. Joseph Maroon (who oversees the company’s Wellness Policy) is based. This suggests that Bryan is headed in for some medical testing, and the results could lead to a resolution of his status with the company. Bryan has been out since just after WrestleMania 31, where he suffered a concussion and the WWE and Dr. Maroon would not clear him for an in ring return. Bryan previously stated that he has been cleared by other doctors, but not by the WWE doctor. During a promotional tour of Singapore, Bryan had the following to say about his status…
“Because of my history with concussions, the WWE medical doctor wouldn’t clear me. We’re in the process of trying to figure out some compromise. They keep sending me to do more tests, brain MRIs, brain EKGs and all my tests have come back great to the point where my brain is better than someone my age with no concussion.”
There is a lot at play here; if Dr. Maroon clears him, the question would then be when to bring him back into the fold. But if he is not cleared again, what will WWE do with him? He is still under a contract, and could be offered other positions in the company. But Bryan has repeatedly stated that he feels he can still wrestle and that he would continue wrestling outside of WWE. TNA is starting to spend money on talent again, and Bryan would bring a lot of attention to their show. The same goes for ROH, who would likely present Bryan as a returning legend. Finally, Bryan has strong ties with Gabe Sapolsky, this is due to their time in ROH and the fact that Bryan was to be a big part of Evolve at the launch and did go back there during his brief release from WWE in 2010.
More on the story as it develops.
Opinionated View- I assume from big Impact (pun intended) TNA would love to get him. But remember TNA also had medical testing that is why Jessie Sorenson never worked for them. Now that said I don't think WWE is letting him go so long as he has a contract with them. Now the key issue should be the guy's long term health.
