- The Wrestling Observer reports that there was strong interest from at least one sports channel in making a TV deal with WWE before the company later announced their new deal with NBCUniversal last week. When the channel apparently heard what WWE wanted in return, they immediately lost interest. According to the report, WWE greatly overplayed their hand in negotiations from the word "go," which resulted in a lack of legitimate bids from other networks.
The report goes on to say that there is a perception within the TV industry that WWE is "cheap programming" that will help a station with ratings.
Opinionated View- Well Cheap Programming to Get a Rating is how wrestling has always been seen. I mean dating back to when Georges George, Lou Thez, and Buddy Rogers were running around. I have to wonder if WWE over played there eland thinking the WWE Network would give them more leverage.
