7/1 WWE Raw Report


Vickie Guerrero is in her office to kick off RAW. She puts over the prestige of the World Championships. Tonight a historic match will take place, as John Cena will battle Alberto Del Rio tonight in a Champion vs. Champion match.
Daniel Bryan’s music hits and he pumps the crowd up as the join in with his chants of yes. Bryan is sporting a new shirt that says, ‘Respect the Beard’. Bryan slides into the ring and grabs a microphone. There is a ladder set up in the ring and the Money in the Bank briefcase hangs from the ceiling.
Bryan states that an important question was answered last week. Bryan has proven that he is not the weak link. Bryan says that the question now is whether or not he can ride this wave of success and win the Money in the Bank match. He says he wishes that there were a three-letter word that could answer that question. The crowd chants yes. Bryan says he wants to be WWE Champion and follow in the footsteps of the great stars of the past.
Bryan reminds the audience that he has won the Money in the Bank match before and it is high time for history to repeat itself. He proclaims that he will be Champion.
Sheamus comes out and reminds Bryan that he defeated him for the Title in 18 seconds. Sheamus says that maybe history should repeat itself. Bryan asks if he can call 1-800-FELLA and have Sheamus kick his own face off.
Randy walks down to the ring with a microphone and says that it has been nearly two years since he was last the Champion. Orton is not just hungry he is starving. Orton claims that he needs the Title. Daniel points out that he made Orton tap out just last week on RAW. Sheamus looks amused as Orton breathes for a moment. Orton says he will let slide but if Bryan mentions it again he will drop him. Orton says that he is desperate so at Money in the Bank no one will be safe.
Kane’s fire erupts and he walks out onto the entrance ramp with a mic. Kane says he agrees that no one is safe. Kane says that no one in the history of the WWE has been more ruthless than Kane when the WWE Championship is involved. Kane claims that he has no problems using such tactics on even his friends.
Bryan thinks that Kane is still upset about not being able to beat Randy Orton on Smackdown. Kane retorts that he is excited for the match because it will be everyman for himself. Bryan and Kane get into an argument over who will be Champion.
Christian comes out and interrupts. He reminds the participants that he has had more experience and success in ladder matches than anyone in the history of the WWE. Despite being gone for a decent chunk of time he is interested in one more match for the WWE Championship. Christian says he isn’t the scariest, strongest or hairiest guy in the match, but he is without a doubt the best.
CM Punk comes out and says that he promised himself that he wouldn’t get involved in this quarrel. However he couldn’t go sit back as Christian claimed to be the best. Punk is the only competitor who can say that he has won it twice. Punk doesn’t want anyone to misunderstand what he is saying. Punk says that bottom-line is no one can touch him in the ring. No matter how strong the competition is he will come out on top.
Punk turns to the camera and addresses Rob Van Dam. Punk puts him over for a moment, and then runs down the other competitors. Bryan yells enough and says that he is tired of this. He says he will make Punk tap faster than Orton did last week. Kane stands between Bryan and Orton to protect his former partner. Bryan says he doesn’t need Kane’s help and ends up pushing him into an RKO. The rest of the competitors look around the ring but decide not to attack.

A promo airs for the Wyatt family.
Six-Man Tag Match
The Shield v. The Usos and Christian
Seth and one of the Usos start the match. Uso hits a spinning wheel kick and then tags in his brother. Uso tries for a cover but Rollins kicks out. Ambrose gets the tag and takes over for his team. Uso maintains control and tags in Christian. Ambrose thwarts his offense and knees him in the gut. Christian tries to set up a punch but Ambrose slides out of the ring and joins his team at ringside. The Usos fly through the ropes for a suicide dive to outside. Christian springboards over the top for a cross body to the outside. They roll back into the ring to high five like bros as RAW goes to commercial.

Back from the break Seth and a Uso are in the ring. Rollins stomps and then brings in Ambrose. They double team Uso with a suplex and Ambrose goes for a pin. Uso kicks out. Ambrose attacks his midsection and then applies a modified Metropolis STF. Reigns gets the tag and keeps the momentum for his team. Ambrose is brought back in but is met with a hard superkick from Uso. Rollins gets the tag and blocks Uso from making a tag. He tries to counter a kick but it only ends up sending both competitors to the mat. Christian charges in off a tag and knocks Rollins to the mat. He flies from the second rope for a missile dropkick and a cover. Seth kicks out. Christina pushes Rollins into the corner and applies a few punches. A back body drop leads to Christian knocking Reigns off the apron.
Ambrose gets the tag and is hit with a tornado DDT. Ambrose is able to kick out. Ambrose counters a Killswitch. Rollins provides a bit of a distraction and pulls Christians’ neck down on the rope which allows Dean to roll Christian up and end the match.
Winners: The Shield
Daniel Bryan is in the back with Kane and says he talked to Vickie and wants to make it up to him. Kane is upset that Bryan cost him his Smackdown match against Randy Orton. Bryan smiles and says that he set up a rematch between Kane and Orton. Kane says that he actually is happy to hear that. Bryan then sheepishly adds that he has been named special guest referee. Kane shakes his head in disbelief.

Dolph Ziggler v. Jinder Mahal
It is safe to say that Jinder does not stand a chance in this match against the #1 Competitor for the World Title.
Jinder is able to mount a bit of an offense that includes a few counters and a copious amount of stomps. Ziggler kicks out of yet another pin as the stomping continues.
A bored crowd starts to chant for JBL.
Ziggler mounts a comeback that is momentarily halted by a scoop slam and cover from Jinder. Ziggler kicks out. Ziggler counters a Camel Clutch into a Zig Zag and mercifully ends this encounter.
Winner: Dolph Ziggler
After the match the members of 3MB try and attack Ziggler in what proves to be a foolish decision. Dolph decimates the Band and then jumps on the commentators’ booth to celebrate.

Team Brickie is in the office. Maddox doesn’t understand why Vickie is so stressed out since things are going well so far today. Vickie looks to mock the McMahon family. HHH walks into the shot and stops her. He says he is impressed with Vickie’s decisions for RAW tonight. He praises the Champion versus Champion match and the Orton versus Kane match. Vickie says that she is under a lot of stress because she doesn’t know who to listen to with all the McMahons in her ear. HHH tells her to listen to him above all others.

Special Guest Referee: Daniel Bryan 
Randy Orton v. Kane
They brawl back and forth to start the match. Bryan looks to fairly call the match at the start. A couple pin attempts are exchanged. Kane backs Punk into a corner and punches him a few times, which sends him out of the ring. Orton gets back in and pushes Kane into the corner and begins a ten-count punch. Bryan pulls Orton away. Orton responds by shoving Bryan.
Bryan calls for the bell and declares that Kane wins the match.
Winner: Kane
Kane pleads that Bryan restart the match and he complies.

Kane vs. Randy Orton v2.0
Back from the break the match is underway. Orton is splashed in the corner and then hit with a Sidewalk Slam. Kane climbs to the top rope and leaps for a lariat. Orton counters with a dropkick. Orton looks to finish off his opponent. Kane is on the apron so Orton looks for the DDT. Kane blocks and looks for a choke slam. Orton counters into a neck breaker. Kane is again on the apron and this time Orton is able to connect this time with the DDT. Michael Cole calls it “classic”. Lawler and JBL both call him out on saying classic instead of vintage.
The crowd is pumped up as Orton falls the mat and starts to pound. Bryan gets between the two men and keeps Orton from being able to hit his finisher. Kane responds with a boot to the head of Orton. Kane covers and Bryan quickly counts to three.
Winner: Kane
After the match Kane is upset that Bryan counted fast. Bryan responds by trying to reassure Kane with the fact that he won. Kane grabs the neck of Bryan and chokes him. Kane releases Bryan and walks to the back. Orton appears from behind and hits Bryan with an RKO.

CM Punk is in the locker room with Curtis Axel and Paul Heyman. Punk says that all Curtis has to do in their match against The Primetime Players tonight is sit on the apron and let Punk take care of it. Heyman appreciates the strategy but doesn’t understand the hesitance of Punk to accept Axel. Punk says he trusts Heyman but he doesn’t trust Curtis. Heyman says that if Punk can trust him then he should also trust Curtis. Heyman gives Punk his word that Curtis can be trusted. That usually ends well.

Promo airs for Total Divas on E!
Summer Rae comes out onto the entrance ramp and begins to dance. Fandango appears and joins her for a dance. They make their way down to the ring. A handful of audience members do a jig.
Fandango w/ Summer Rae v. Sheamus
Fandango dances his way into a few counters to start the match. Summer Rae cheers him on. Sheamus laughs and then clubs Fandango in the head. Sheamus tosses him towards the corner and takes him to pound town. Sheamus hits a strong clothesline and follows with a shoulder thrust and high knee combo. Sheamus follows Fandango out of the ring and tosses him head first into the barricade. Sheamus rolls his opponent back into the ring, but Fandango tries to roll out again. Sheamus grabs him by the hair but Fandango counters and kicks him in the head.
Fandango gets back in the ring but is punched in the gut. Fandango connects with another kick and a pin attempt. Sheamus kicks out. Fandango knees Sheamus in the back and begins to work his neck region. Fandango grabs the arm of Sheamus and drops him to the mat for a submission. Sheamus is too strong and gets back to his feet. Fandango fights him back down to the mat. Sheamus powers up and pushes Fandango into the corner. The referee has to pull him away as Sheamus is unrelenting with his attack.
Fandango rolls onto the apron, which allows Sheamus to connect with a series of clubbing blows. Fandango jumps to the outside instead of getting back into the ring. The referee begins to count him out. Summer Rae is by his side to help him up the ramp.

Chris Jericho joins in on commentary for the next match. Jericho wishes everyone a happy Canada Day.
Ryback v. The Miz
Ryback knocks Miz down and then repeats to shove Miz’s head into the mat repeatedly. Ryback kicks Miz while he is down and then mounts him to attack with a few forearms to the face. Miz kicks at Ryback and makes it back to his feet. He charges but Ryback shoves him down to the mat. Ryback stands on the head of Miz and pushes it into the mat. Ryback continues his attack every time that Miz tries to get to his feet.
Miz connects with a few punches but they are for naught as Ryback is toying with him at this point. Ryback shoves Miz back into the corner. Miz attempts another bout of offense and attacks the leg of Ryback to knock him to the mat. Miz charges across the ring and hits a strong splash. Miz takes the top rope but Ryback ducks the axe handle. Miz attacks the knee of Ryback and gets him on the ground. Miz looks for a Figure Four but Ryback kicks him away. Miz says on the attack as Ryback is in the corner. He dropkicks the knee of Ryback as it is placed against the ropes.
The Ryback tells the referee to stop the match because he can’t continue.
Winner: The Miz
After the match Miz looks confused. Jericho slides into the ring from behind Ryback and hits a Codebreaker.

Mark Henry walks out onto ramp and declares that he is the World’s Strongest Man. He says he didn’t get that name out of a Cracker Jack box, he earned it. Henry says that he has legitimately retained that status since he joined the WWE 17 years ago. Henry says that ‘they’ never gave him a legitimate opportunity to contest for the Title. Henry obeyed and did everything that he was told over the years. Henry says that his strategy has never paid off. He claims that with all the time he has given the company and all of the things that he has down for the fans means that he deserves the Title. Henry refers to the audience as a troupe of puppets. Henry says that when he fights for the Title at Money in the Bank nobody will be able to keep him down. Henry smiles and says that after he beats John Cena no one in the world will be able to deny that henry is great. People will say that Henry earned his Championship. Henry addresses Cena as he says that at Money in the Bank he is going to beat his ass.
In the back Vince joins Team Brickie in the office. Vince scolds Vickie on her usage of Daniel Bryan tonight. Vince reminds Vickie that Bryan is small and has issues. He is upset that Vickie is not listening to him. Vince is a fan of tonight’s main event. Vince says that what Vickie and the other McMahons don’t understand that they should not give great matches away for free. The Champion v. Champion match should be on a PPV. Vince says that Vickie needs to think of wrestling as a business. Vickie apologizes. Vince reminds Vickie that countless others have been fired for not listening to his edicts.

The Prime Time Players v. CM Punk & Curtis Axel w/ Paul Heyman
Punk looks to start the match but Curtis tags himself in. Punk is not pleased but heads to the apron. He tells Curtis not to screw up. Axel flips Young over as Punk pleads for the tag. Young is hit with a flurry of punches. Axel chops him across the chest before following with a few more punches. Axel counters an Irish whip and hits a clothesline.
Titus gets the tag but Curtis decides not to tag in Punk. Punk yells at Heyman to tell Curtis to tag him. Axel connects with a dropkick. Punk is still demanding a tag. Titus drops Curtis with a slam and then tags in Young. Darren hits an uppercut before Titus is brought back in. Titus locks on an abdominal stretch. If this were ‘Kayfabe the Movie’ this match would be over.
Titus taunts Punk before resuming the attack on Curtis. Titus charges but Axel gets up a boot. Punk gets the hot tag and goes on the attack. Young also gets a tag and is flattened. Punk climbs to the top turnbuckle and leaps for an elbow. The move connects as Punk looks for the finish. Punk lifts Darren Young up into the air and hits a GTS. Titus runs into the ring but is tossed right out. Curtis tags himself into the match and covers Young for the win.
Winners: CM Punk & Curtis Axel
After the match Punk is visibly annoyed that Axel stole the pinfall. Heyman gets into the ring to celebrate the victory. Instead of joining in Punk looks to leave the ring. He gets into an argument with Heyman and walks to the back.

Kaitlyn w/ Layla v. Alicia Fox
It’s been quite some time since Alicia Fox has had a match on RAW. I enjoyed that time.
Winner via Spear: Kaitlyn
AJ Lee comes out onto the ramp with a dapper looking Big E. Langston. AJ says that Kaitlyn is just trash. AJ says that she has a collection of pictures from Kaitlyn’s early days. They are from a time when Kaitlyn was young and broke. AJ shows the picture and it shows a very large looking and clearly manipulated picture of Kaitlyn. AJ reassures the crowd the she will defeat Kaitlyn at the Money in the Bank PPV.
Team Brickie is in the office as Stephanie McMahon walks into the shot. Stephanie is upset about what just happened with AJ. Vickie says that she wasn’t watching. Stephanie is upset because she told Vickie to take care of the AJ situation two weeks ago and she didn’t. She also told Vickie to announce the Money in the Bank competitors but she had to end up doing it herself. Vickie says with everyone yelling her ear her head is about to explode. Stephanie says that she understands and asks what she can do to help. Vickie says as a woman in a male dominated industry it makes things more difficult. Vickie says that HHH and Vince are crazy. Stephanie is not pleased with Vickie’s comments about her family. Stephanie says that next week on RAW Vickie will have a job evaluation. Vickie might be named the official GM and not an interim GM, or Vickie may be fired.

A promo airs for Rob Van Dam’s return at Money in the Bank.
Damien Sandow makes his way to the ring with Cody Rhodes. They cut a promo in which they discuss being in the Money in the Bank ladder match for the World Heavyweight Championship briefcase. Sandow claims that they will still remain friends despite competing against each other. Rhodes confirms that there is no competition that can tear them apart.
Cody Rhodes w/ Damien Sandow v. Antonio Cesaro w/ Zeb Colter & Jack Swagger
Zeb has a microphone and cuts a promo as they make their way down to the ring. He tells America to wake up. He tells the audience that their country was stolen from them in their sleep. He claims that someone needs to stand up. He announces the return of the Real American Jack Swagger. Swagger comes out to join them on the entrance ramp. Zeb continues the promo as Cesaro gets into the ring.
Cesaro grabs Cody and tosses him overhead and to the side. Rhodes gets back on his feet and looks to lock up. They run the ropes and Rhodes drops down for a punch. Roll up but Cesaro kicks out. Cody kicks Cesaro in the face and looks for a cover. Cesar responds by stomping on his foe. Rhodes blocks a splash and uses the ropes for a cover. Cesaro kicks out. Cesaro hits a stellar uppercut that knocks Cody out of the ring. They get back on the inside and look to square off. Cesaro lifts him up for the Neutralizer and picks up the victory.
Winner: Antonio Cesaro

The Bellas are in the back and say hello Eva Marie and Jojo. They appear to be new Divas. The twins say the Total Divas show is only happening because of them. The newcomers say that it is an ensemble show. The twins say that it is cute when the newbies come out of the Divas factory. Natalya and the Funkadactyls appear and are not pleased with what is occurring. The girls bicker back and forth for a bit. Watch Total Divas is essentially the message of this Mensa gathering.

Champion v. Champion Match
Alberto Del Rio v. John Cena
Ricardo Rodriguez is not accompanying Del Rio tonight after the attack by Dolph Ziggler that sent him through a table on Friday.
Del Rio grabs Cena for a headlock. Cena leapfrogs as Rio runs the ropes and then takes Rio down with an arm drag. Rio leapfrogs Cena this time and hits an arm drag of his own. They competitors back up for a moment and regain their bearings. Cena tries to lift Alberto up for an AA, but Rio rolls out of the ring. Alberto looks like he is going to head up the ramp. Instead, he ultimately decides to fight and walks back towards the ring.
Rio attacks Cena with some punches and knocks Cena down to the mat for some punches. Rio runs at Cena and kicks him hard in the thigh. Cover, but Cena kicks out. Rio gets Cena back to his feet and looks for a suplex. Cena counters into a suplex of his own. Cena lands a few blows and whips Rio into the corner. He follows with a running bulldog. Cena runs at Rio but Rio moves and Cena crashes into the steel post shoulder first and falls out of the ring. Rio heads out to meet Cena and swings him into the barricade. Rio rolls his foe back into the ring and climbs to the top turnbuckle. Rio leaps for an axe handle. Cover, but Cena kicks out. Rio runs towards Cena for a slide but Cena moves out of the way and Rio flies out of the ring.

Back from the break Cena is caught in a headlock. Rio knees Cena in the gut and then tosses him to the mat. Rio drags his boot across Cena’s face. Alberto climbs to the top turnbuckle and jumps but this time Cena hits a dropkick to counter. Both men are down as the ref begins to count. Cena is on his feet and looks for a shoulder block but misses. Rio kicks Cena out of the ring. Alberto taunts Cena and tells him to come back inside. As Cena climbs up the apron Rio walks over but finds his head pulled down on the rope.
Cena is fired up and looks to start the doom sequence. Instead Rio hits a backstabber and a cover. Cena kicks out. Rio gets to his feet first and signals the cross arm breaker. Cena counters into a side slam. Cena throws his hand up into the air and the crowd joins him as he says You Can’t See Me. The Five Knuckle Shuffle connects. Rio counters an AA and looks for a pin. Cena kicks out.
Cena lifts Del Rio up and connects with a belly-to-belly suplex. Cover, but Rio kicks out. Cena climbs up the ropes but is hit with an enziguiri. Cover, but Cena kicks out. Rio whiffs on another enziguiri and Cena looks to capitalize. Instead Rio catches him with a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker. Alberto is the first to his feet. Rio lifts Cena up in the corner and locks him into the tree of woe. Rio walks to the other side of the ring before charging for a shoulder thrust. Cena lifts himself up with his legs to avoid as Rio crashes into the post.
Cena climbs to the top for a crossbody. It connects and Cena looks for the pin but Alberto kicks out. Cena lifts Del Rio up for an AA but Alberto counters into a cross-arm breaker. Cena immediately counters into an STF. Alberto struggles to break free.
Mark Henry decides it is time to saunter his way down to the ring. Rio tries to pick up a cheap cover but Cena kicks out. Alberto hits a strong kick that knocks Cena down for another cover. Cena kicks out.
Ziggler makes his way down to the ring and climbs up the turnbuckle. Del Rio is distracted by the emergence of his Money in the Bank opponent. Cena takes advantage with an Attitude Adjustment and picks up the win.
Winner: John Cena
After the match Mark Henry walks over to the timekeeper and takes the WWE Championship. Henry walks into the ring with the Title. Henry tosses the Title on the ground in the middle of the ring as he stares at Cena. Henry heads out of the ring and points to his wrist indicating that it is only a matter of time until he takes the Title. Henry does not need to steal the Title because at Money in the Bank he will earn it.
At the end of RAW one last promo airs for the Wyatt Family. They will debut live next week on RAW.
