According to Dave Meltzer on Sunday’s Wrestling Observer Radio, Roman Reigns was originally planned to win the WWE World Title at Survivor Series against Seth Rollins. Meltzer reports that this was the plan, but that Reigns may not win the tournament to crown a new champion because of the imbalance between heels and babyfaces on the roster.
With Rollins currently out until after WrestleMania, WWE is lacking in a strong heel that Reigns could defend against. Randy Orton, John Cena and Daniel Bryan are all of course out as well right now, meaning that the company is hurting for star power all around and that a strong heel is not currently available.
Reigns is almost a sure thing to be included in the tournament, but whether he will win is still up in the air.
Opinionated View- As always you gotta be real careful with anything Meltzer says. WWE doesn't just like strong heels they lack strong faces. ITs because they don't new guys up and far to often they go for the lame basic story telling to protect guys like Cena and force everyone into his mold.
