Hulk Hogan’s problems could be getting worse and worse. Following the scandal regarding his racial tirade, Hogan is now being accused of lying under oath in his current lawsuit against Gawker. The source for this is the National Enquirer, which may be questionable as a rule but is noteworthy for having broken the story about the racial scandal, which had come from a deposition in the case.
According to the site, the transcript for a July 2nd hearing in the case — in which Hogan is suing Gawker for $100 million over posting a brief bit of his sex tape online as news — sees Gawker attorney Seth Berlin tell the judge that he had learned Hogan made statements under oath in a deposition that was “directly at odds” with what he had told the FBI.
Berlin said during the hearing, “So we have a situation… where the key participant, the plaintiff, is telling us one thing under oath and telling the FBI something else.”
This is a potentially serious issue for Hogan, as if he lied to one of the two he could be facing legal problems either way. If he lied in the deposition than he could be charged with perjury, and if he lied to the FBI he could be liable on obstruction of justice charges. Either of those offenses potentially carry jail time.
