EVOVLE 47 Report

“Hot Sauce” Tracy Williams w/Catch Point (Drew Gulak & Gulak’s students) def Biff Busick via submission
Winner: Williams after he slipped out of Biff’s Rear Naked Choke takeover and driving his head into the mat with a Implant DDT and covering for a 2, immediately transitioning into a Crossface, forcing Busick to Tap Out. (Really Good)
Busick walks away from Williams’ handshake offer. Rich Swann walks out, cutting a rhyme on Drew Gulak, challenging him to a match.
Drew Gulak w/Catch Point def Rich Swann
Winner: Gulak after Swann connected with a Jumping Enziguri, staggering Gulak on the top and following with a No Hands Jumping Frankensteiner, before setting up for the Jumping 450, but as he jumped out, Drew connected with both boots into his face, knocking him silly and allowing Gulak to get the pin.
Johnny Gargano came to the ring to check on his friend, Swann, but Gulak cuts a promo on him, saying Catch Point is the new force and challenges them for a future match, but Gargano calls for it now and they go face to face, but Catch Point leaves. Gargano then talks about his Anything Goes match against Ethan Page tonight, until EVOLVE & Dragon Gate USA Open The Freedom Gate Champion Timothy Thatcher comes out, exchanging words with Gulak on his way to the ring. Thatcher cuts a promo on Gargano being the greatest DG-USA champion in the company’s history and CIMA might not even like him, saying he is a much more worthy holder of the DGUSA Title and hands it over to him, shakes his hand and leaves! Swann takes the title from Gargano and places it around his friend’s waist.

Chris Hero def “Speedball” Mike Bailey with the rolling elbow
Hero wearing fantastic Christian Laettner inspired Dream Team gear
Winner: Hero wins a classic contest after connecting with a SICK Rolling Elbow, but Bailey was able to answer with a LOUD Rolling Side Kick to the face, but Hero fired right back with a staggering elbow strike and then followed with a Rip Cord Knockout Elbow and the pin. (MOTN!)
Rey Horus & Trent Baretta got into the ring for their one on one match, but The Premier Athelete Brand (Anthony Nese, Caleb Konley & So Cal Val) came out and Val cut a promo on Trent. Insulting him and talking about Trent quitting the PAB, only for Trent to fire back and get over on Val before laying out a tag challenge, with his “new best friend” Horus as his partner and after some deliberation, Konley & Nese charge the ring.
The Premier Athlete Brand (Anthony Nese & Caleb Konley) w/So Cal Val def Trent Baretta & Rey Horus
Winners: The Brand after Nese charged and crotched Horus on the top, causing him to crash to the mat, as Konley took out Trent on the floor, just as Nese went to the top and scored with a 450 Splash, holding on for the 3 count.
Anything Goes: “All Ego” Ethan Page def Johnny Gargano
Page had Gargano down and held a chair over his head, when Rich Swann came out to stop him and save his best friend, only to blast Gargano with a Superkick! Swann stands over his friend, before letting Page destroy Gargano with multiple chair shots and then hold Gargano in place, as Swann connected with a Frog Splash and Page put a foot on Johnny’s chest for the 3 count.
Page cuts a promo on Gargano, telling him his mystery opponent for tomorrow night has been found and says Swann will be that man. Swann cuts a promo on his past with Gargano and says Thatcher giving him the title earlier, showed him what kind of guy Johnny truly is. Swann is holding the DG-USA Open The Freedom Gate title as he and Page hold Garagao down and Swann cuts a promo on how Johnny was a false idol. Swann then puts the title on Page and goes back after Gargano.
EVOLVE Championship match: “The British Messiah” Timothy Thatcher def Zack Sabre Jr. to retain
Winner and STILL EVOLVE Champion: Thatcher after catching Sabre’s foot, while exchanging submission counters, blasting him with slaps to the ears and then wrenching forward in a Hamstring Achilles Lock, forcing Sabre to Tap Out. (Physical, counter based piece of art)

Opinionated View- Ok this sounds like a good show for the most part but the stuff with the DGUSA title confuses me. Are they bringing it back or this was supposed to the retirement of belt/brand? If they are making it a separate title than man stupid way to introduce it again with Thatcher just handing it over. And if they aren't bring it back than it's stupid to make it a feature of a new feud? Why should we care if Gargano gets the deactivated title?
