8/19 WWE Main Event Report

United States Champion Sheamus starts the show. Michael Cole is making a rare appearance on commentary with Byron Saxton. As we get ready for the first match, Cesaro makes his way out in a suit and tie, and takes a seat at commentary.
SHEAMUS vs. CURTIS AXEL
Cesaro puts over the WWE Network in over 170 countries, as Sheamus starts beating the heck out of Axel. Curtis battles back with a few right hands in the corner, but Sheamus hits the Irish Curse for a two-count. He tries for his Ten Beats move on the apron, but Axel drops down over the ropes. Axel continues his attack for several minutes with some pretty standard offense, as we go into a commercial. Sheamus recovers after the break and tries for the battering ram over the ropes, but Axel hits him with an uppercut, followed by the Perfect Plex for a nearfall. He starts slapping the crap out of Sheamus, who no-sells it and comes back fired up with clotheslines and running high knee strikes. Sheamus with a vertical suplex, followed by a shoulder tackle from the top turnbuckle. The Brogue Kick connects for the 1-2-3.
Winner: SHEAMUS
After the match, Cesaro gets up and takes the US Championship. He looks it over, throws it to Sheamus, and walks off without looking at him.

Michael Cole has “breaking news” and throws it back to Triple H. He says that John Cena submitted his rematch clause, and he has accepted it, and announces that the rematch will take place at WWE Night of Champions.
NIKKI BELLA vs. EMMA
They lock up with Emma taking the first advantage, but Nikki comes off the second rope with a shining wizard. She locks in a side headlock, and Emma backs her into the corner, but Nikki comes back with a running knee strike to the head. The crowd chants “you sold out” as she slaps on a reverse headlock. Emma gets her boots up in the corner and dodges a splash, then locks in the Tarantula for a four-count until the ref makes her break it. She goes up to the top rope, but misses a crossbody, and Bella hits her with a right hand. Nikki with the Rack Attack for the win.
Winner: NIKKI BELLA
Backstage, Big Show and Mark Henry are together with Renee Young. Show talks about Erick Rowan being a big guy with a lot of strength, and tonight’s match won’t be a pretty one. He asks Mark if he should throw in some Lucha moves, and Henry tells him to just win, so they can go eat.
They show the Lesnar/Cena announcement once more time. John Cena will be on Raw next Monday to address the beating at SummerSlam, and his Night of Champions match.

Los Matadores come out with El Torito…and Hornswoggle in a cow costume. I’m not kidding. Looks like Fernando is back in action tonight!
LOS MATADORES vs. SLATER GATOR
Slater starts off with headlocks and right hands, but Diego hits a headscissors takedown. He goes to the second rope, but Slater takes him out with a clothesline and tags in Titus O’Neil. Titus bullies Diego around the ring as Michael Cole is making “mooing” noises on commentary. Slater is back in with a side headlock, and Diego batttles back with rights and lefts. He hits a flapjack and makes the hot tag to Fernando, who comes off the top rope with an elbow. He hits a few corkscrew splashes and follows it up with a standing senton headbutt (yup). Titus comes in to clean house, but Fernando rolls up Slater with a small package for a close two count. Slater comes back and hits a huge DDT for the win!
Winners: SLATER GATOR
After the match, Heath grabs El Torito buy the head. Hornswoggle makes the “save” and hits him with his utters – I wish I was joking – and the minis throw him off the apron, taking out Titus. Slater Gator rushes the ring, but they bail to safety with Los Matadores.
We get a video package of the Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose rivalry, including the brutal match from Monday Night Raw this week. Cole says that Ambrose suffered some head and spinal trauma, but he got up and left, and nobody has seen or heard from him.

Backstage, Renee Young asks Seth Rollins if he has an explanation for putting Dean Ambrosethrough a bunch of concrete bricks. Rollins says he’s not the one who chose the stipulation. It’s not his fault there were no rules, and blames the WWE Universe, and puts the blood on their hands. He continues talking about all the heroes in WWE – like John Cena and Ambrose – getting beaten and running away. Jack Swagger shows up and Rollins asks him what it was like to take a nap for his country. The match is booked on Smackdown this week.
BIG SHOW vs. ERICK ROWAN
Rowan tries to over-power Show as the match starts, and it doesn’t do much, as Show dumps him to the floor. They brawl around ringside, but Rowan ends up throwing the big guy into the steel post. Mark Henry and Luke Harper both come down and stand at ringside. Rowan takes advantage of Show on the floor, beating on his knee and keeping him down. They roll back in the ring and he continues dominating Show with splashes in the corner, right hands and continuing to work over the knee. The crowd and Mark Henry wills the crowd back into the match as they go into a rest hold, and Big Show powers out of the nerve press. He runs into a big boot in the corner, and Rowan responds with a rolling elbow off the second rope to take him down. He hoists up the 500-pounder and hits him with a huge body slam. Out of nowhere, Show hits a half-hearted KO Punch for the win.
Winner: BIG SHOW
After the match, Henry hits the ring and the two super-heavyweights celebrate together. Rowan and Harper stare them down from the outside to go off the air.
