My last review I looked at a card that had an injury to a top level talent cause some changes and to day I look at card that had an injury to top level talent cause some major changes. Sacrifice was the first PPV Samoa Joe would main event as world champion. The main event was set to be Joe vs Scott Steiner cashing in his feast or fired case vs Kurt Angle who had been screwed out of his rematch with Joe when Steiner infected int it. But than Angle suffered a neck injury and was pulled. And it must have been a pretty serious injury given Kurt's usually willingness to wrestle no matter how hurt he is. TNA could have just done a one on one match but I'm glade they didn't' Why Steiner had shown he was better than his WWE run he still had limits plus this gave TNA a chance to test out a younger talent in the main event Kazarian.
This PPV was very gimmick heavy not only did we have a three way main event but the debut Terrodome/Steel Asylum cage match for the X-Division winner getting a title shot at Petey Williams who had the belt from Black Machismo post Lockdown, The Infamous Knockouts Makeover Match witch I'll talk about more when when we got to it. And the Deuces Wild Tag Team Tournament. The TNA tag team title had been vacated when Super Eric and Kaz beat AJ Styles and Tomko for the belts but since the match had been signed as Eric Young and Kaz and EY/Super Eric refused to confirm his identity (What do you think Clark Kent would admit to be Superman?) the belts were vacated. I like the concept of the Deuces Wild it was four regular TNA tag teams vs four teams made up of random partners. I remember this begin a fairly fun night of wrestling so am I a right or should I make a Sacrifice to the wrestling gods and be forgiveness.
Sadly the pre-show is not included in this although by this point I think TNA had changed to the pre-tapped video style. We open on a video of Angle, Steiner and Joe talking about what it means to be world champion. Again Kurt's injury was really last second. Steiner talks about his power, Kurt brags about his submission ability and Joe says no one wants it more than him. I guess they could have edited the open out or change it to feature Kaz but given on the show it self is where Kaz earns his spot in the main event I get why they did it this way. Backstage Jeremy Borash greets Kurt Angle as he arrives. JB asks Kurt what the doctor said after the injury during the match in South Korea. Kurt says he doctor made it clear he can't wrestle. Kurt says as much as he wants to wrestle he has to listen to the doctor. Kurt says another neck injury could end his career. Kurt talks about winning the olympic medal, main eventing WrestleMania, and winning the world title with a broken neck but right now he can't afford it. It's a decent promo by Kurt . We than see Scott Steiner arriving with Rhakah Khan and Petey Williams. Lauren Thompson asks Steiner for his comments on Kurt. Scott says this is the first he is hearing about. Scott says maybe he is getting his one on one match. We than see Rick Steiner and Joe's than mentor Kevin Nash getting out of the limo. We than see Samoa Joe arrive. JB asks Joe about Kurt's injury. Joe says it's is a shame to see Kurt go down especially since he didn't put him there. JB asks about Nash arriving with Steiner and Joe is stunned. Good opening segment. The idea with Joe and Nash was we were never sure if Joe could trust him or not.
Mike Tenay says tonight new tag champions will be crowned and tells us a knockout will get there head shaved in the make over match. Don talks about the main event. Mike run downs who the tag belts were vacated
Deuces Wild Quater Final
Team 3D Brother Ray and Brother Devon vs - James Storm with Jacqueline and Sting- Sting and Storm were a heel and a face team. Don mentions String even tried to put Storm through a table with a Stinger Splash on the last Impact before the PPV. Storm insists on starting for his team and reluctant Sting agree. Devon in for 3D. Lockup and a go behind by Storm. Slap to the head. Devon charges and punches. Storm goes to the eyes and hits a punch. Devon with a shoulder tackle knocks down storm. Running corner splash by Devon followed by the power slam. Elbow drop by Devon gets two. Tag to Ray. Vertical Suplex by Ray than a headlock. Shoulder tackle by Ray and he shoves Sting. Ray gets kick don back body drop. Over hand slap by Ray. Jackie jumps in the ring and gets the ring and shoves Ray. Ray gets her to down around and gives a smack to the ass. Sting tags in. Mike says Sting is reluctant to trust Storm. Headlock by Ray than a shoulder tackle. Hip toss by Sting followed by the power slam than the clothesline. Ray to the floor. Storm starts yelling at Sting to follow him. Sting doesn't. Tag to Devon. Lock up and Devon gets the headlock. Sting powers free and gets a shoulder tackle knocking Devon down. Storm keeps yelling at Sting this allows Ray to come in and nail Sting from behind. Double team beat down by 3D. Elbows by Devon. Storm has gotten out of the corner to drink a beer. Chin lock by Devon. Power slam by Devon and he goes to the second rope for a falling head butt that gets two. A second head butt misses when Sting moves. Chops by Sting and the Stinger splash. Ray in the ring but Sting sees him coming and attacks. Ray whipped in the same corner as Devon. Stinger Splash but Ray moves and pulls Devon with him. Whats UP by Team 3D. Devon gets the table. Storm still drinking a beer. Double clothesline by Sting. Storm in and yells at 3D something. 3D walk away and let Sting press slam Storm through the table. Devon covers for the win. Ok opening match. I do like the idea of having a team just blow up right away showing the other random teams had to get along or they could never win.
Backstage Lauren with Kurt Angle's buddy Frank Trigg. Trigg recaps Kurt was hurt during mach overseas. Trigg says he's worried but Kurt doesn't pull out with injures. Trigg says Kurt wanted to wrestle and even tried today but he can't take the risk. Lauren asks who Trigg is picking in the main event. Trigg puts over how great Joe looked at Lockdown but Stenier's great amateur background. Trigg picks Joe saying he's on a rolls as champion. Decent segment Trigg was a good commentator and made some valid points.
Robert Roode and Booker T vs Rhino and Christian Cage - Roode and Booker had been feuding since Booker's TNA debut. Cage and Rhino had teamed different times over the years and had a long friendship. The idea of the tournament was none of the wild card teams knew who they were feuding with. We see Roode screaming at Earl Hebner as Booker makes his entrance. Booker and Roode get in a shoving match with Roode going none his ass. Roode grabs a chair and security has to separate them. Roode and Booker even argue about witch corner they are supposed to be in. Roode and Rhino start us off. Headlock by Rhino and a big shoulder tackle. Roode hip toss blocked and Rhino hits a clothesline that gets two. Roode rammed into the turnbuckle. Tag to Christian and a double team hip toss. Leap front a back elbow by Christian the diving upper cut by Christian off the second rope. Christian sets for the unprettier but Roode peers free. Christian goes to the second rope but Roode rakes the eyes and pulls Christian off. Roode refuses the tag and pounds on on Cage and than puts the boots to him. Chops by Christian. Roode revers the whip and hits a clothesline into the corner. Rolling neck snap by Roode. Booker gain offers the hand but Roode won't tag. Double R Spine Buster by Roode. Roode locks in a front chancery. Roode runs into a mule kick. Tornado DDT by Cage and both men are down. Booker tags himself in and cuts off the Christian tag to Rhino. Clothesline by Booker and some chops. Big back body drop by Booker. Ax kick misses and Christian hits the inverted DDT. Tag to Rhino. Shoulder block to the gut by the War Machine. Leg lariat by Booker who than sets up for the ax kick but Roode tags in. Rhino ducks the Roode lariat and and hits Booker with one that sends him to the floor. Rhino runs into a knee. Pay off is block and spear out of no where by Rhino for the win. Decent match to show Christian and Rhino were a good pick to win.
Post match Booker comes in and shake hands with Cage and Rhino. Booker raises the hands of the winners. Suddenly Booker grabs a chair and smacks Christian with it and than nails Rhino. Referees stop Booker from doing more damage. Booker walks out as we see both Christian are still down. Decent segment they had been hinting at a Booker T heel turn for a few weeks as he was pissed about TNA booking a mixed tag match that put Sharmel in danger and he has also gotten in a confrontation with Sting. Plus this gives Rhino and Christian a face saving excuse when they didn't win the tournament.
Backstage JB is with Steniers group and Kevin Nash. Scott says if they work this out they both benefit while Nash insist Joe had been his meal ticket for months. Steiner says every knows Nash is using Joe and offers to give him the first shot when he wins. Steiner tells Nash to think about it. Nash agrees and shakes hands before leaving. Another good segment to set up the idea that Joe was going to have a big problem in the main event.
Kip James and Matt Morgan vs LAX Homicide and Hernandez with Hector Gurrerro- James had started referring to himself "Mega Star" and I think TNA only allowed that so Don and Mike could mock his ego. He and Morgan were also having problems the idea being the old Rookie vs Veteran story. When LAX turned face they paired them up with Hector to serve as a face mentor compared to Konnan the jackass heel. West mentions that unlike the first two teams Morgan and James had been talking during the entrance for the other team. I really like that point as it sold the idea that any of the wild card teams had to get along in order to advance. James and Homicide start us off. James mocks Homicide's height. Homicide goes to the eye and gets a head lock. James picks Homicide up and sits him on the top ropes. Homicide comes off and nails a drop kicks. Kip gets to close and gets shoulder tackled over the ropes by Hernandez. Morgan in illegally but Homicide ducks and lariat and hits a Topa Con Helio on James who is on the floor. The referee blocks Hernandez from doing air mexico. Morgan to the floor picks up Homicide and slams him back into the ring. Tag to Morgan and a double team kick. Morgan walks the ropes holding the hand of Homicide and hits a shot coming down. Tag to James. Punches in the corner by James. Kip goes for a jumping splash in the corner and misses. Tag to Hernandez. Big shoulder tackle by Super Mex. Splash in the corner by Hernandez. Cracker jack sends James flying. Morgan comes in and the big men square off. Hernandez finally gets Morgan down after hitting a flying shoulder tackle. Kip attacks form behind. Miscue and Morgan hits the carbon footprint on Kip. Drop kick by Hernandez sends Morgan to the floor. Cover and the win for LAX. Ok match pretty short but do you really want a long Kip James match. This was meant to give a LAX a strong win going foreword.
Backstage JB is with AJ Styles. JB says this is the most unique match of AJ career as he teams with Super Eric to take on BG James and Awesome Kong. AJ says you can't prepare to face Kong. She's a lady he thinks. Suddenly Kurt Angle comes in and shoves AJ asking if he seeing Karen. AJ says refuses to answer that question. The Angles had separated on screen a while back. They had done some segment earlier in the year implying AJ had feeling for Karen (Witch actually were pretty funny) and this was meant to set up for the eventual Styles vs Angle feud.
Super Eric an AJ Styles vs BG James and Awesome Kong with Raisha Saeed Ok this takes some explaining. Super Eric was a gimmick Eric Young would use to not be afraid. AJ and Tomko were tag team champions and defend against Kaz and Eric Young during the match EY made the switch to Super Eric. When the titles changed hands AJ argued the fall shouldn't stand unless it could be proven for sure Super Eric and EY were the same person. Since he refused/was crazy titles were vacated. EY and Kaz lost there match to qualify for the tournament when Kaz insisted Super Eric needed to not show up. AJ was supped to team with Tomko but things changes. They claim Tomko was injured over seas but it was about this time he had a falling out with the company and left. So AJ was now teaming with Super Eric for this show. AJ was turning face and dropping his heel comedy gimmick but still did parts of it. Kong had been put in the tournament as the real wild card plus it was an interesting idea given Kong was more powerful and bigger than a lot of the guys on the roster. Super Eric and BG start us off. Cheap shot by BG. Drop kick by Super Eric. Tag to AJ who comes in with a punch to the ribs. AJ with a drop kick of his own. Tag to Kong. Don says AJ in conflicted about doing this. AJ power Kong into the corner and she shoves him off. Roll up by AJ gets two. Sunset flip by AJ. Big chop by Kong. AJ goes to punch but stops himself. Spinning back fist by Kong but AJ blocks it. Kick to the gut by AJ. Crotch Claw by Kong tag to BG who hits a atomic drop. Bear hug by BG. AJ gets free but runs into a big boot. Tag to Kong. Awesome bomb set up AJ goes over top and tries for a sunset flip Kong squash him and gets two. Tag to BG who gets a chin lock. Jabs by BG. AJ ducks one and hits the pelle. Both men are down. Tag to Super Eric and comes in with a lariat. Summer fault senton off the top by Super Eric. Kong with the save. Kong tries to power slam Super Eric he escapes and slams her onto BG. Tag to AJ. Super Eric with a suicide dive takes out Kong on the floor. AJ goes for a spring board move but he slips and eats the mat. AJ gets a small package for the win. Surprisingly entreating match they played put he kind of ridicules situation with a Super Hero and a Lady in the match. Not to often AJ botches like that.
We get the brackets it will Team 3D vs Rhino and Cage in one match. LAX vs AJ and Super Eric in the other. Don and Mike hype up the other matches on the card as the set up for the terror dome. Mike breaks the news that Jim Cornette has an announcement for the main event later tonight. Lauren interview Rick Steiner. Lauren says a lot of people were surprised he showed up. Rick says he is here to support his brother on the biggest night of his career. Lauren asks what his definition of support is. Rick avoids the question and instead does his barks. The idea here was to show Scott Steiner was stacking the deck. He would have his brother, Petey Williams, Rhakah Khan all there to support him even if Nash stayed loyal to Joe. After the entrances for the Terror Dome are made Cornette comes to announcer the winner will get to replace Kurt Angle in the main event.
Terror Dome Winner Gets a Shot at the X-Division Champion Curry Man vs Shark Boy vs Kaz vs Consequence Creed vs Black Machismo Jay Lethal vs Jimmy Rave vs Sonjay Dutt vs Chris Sabin vs Alex Shelley vs Johnny Devine- The Terror dome was meant to combine the Six Sides of Steel and Ultimate X. I twas a cage with a curved roof with a single hole first one to climb out and escape won. The next two times it was used TNA used the name Steel Asylum. Several guys try to climb up at the start and the rest pull them down. Flipping Lariat by Creed on Curry Man. Rave sends Sonjay Dutt into the cage wall. Kaz with the fade to black on Devine. Guns double team on Shark Boy. Chest buster, neck breaking combo by the guns on Lethal. We see Creed has made it up the curve potion. Kaz cuts him off and Creed hangs via his legs. Kaz uses Creed's arms as a swing and hits a leg drop on Lethal. Creed with a twisting cross body on Kaz. Double round kick by the Guns on Curry Man. Sonjay takes out both Guns. Tower of Doom nearly has a disasters as Devine almost lands on his head but uses his arms to save himself. Move the Rocked the world by Rave on Lethal. Creed with the Creed DDT on Rave. Guns with the assisted sliced bread on Creed. Chummier by Shark Boy on Shelley. Sabin stops Shark Boy from going up. Super Chummier by Shark Boy on Sabin. Wave of the Future by Kaz on Shark Boy. Curry Man climbs up and knocks Kaz off of the ropes.Kaz back up and hits reveres flux capacitor on Curry Man. Kaz in the only man standing. Devine gets up and cuts off Kaz. Knees into the gut off the top by Devine. Creed is up but walks right into the Devein Intervention. Devine climbs up but Kaz gives chase. Kaz pulls Devine down and he takes out everyone else in the match. Kaz makes his way to the hole and and escapes for the win. You know what this match has got a bad rep on the IWC. This match was a pretty awesome spot fest. It does have an issue as your going to only have a few guys able to wrestle it and than climb out but if they could find the right guys I would mind seeing this return. Kaz winning was a great pick he was a TNA guy. The fans wanted to see him get a big chance and he could work some cool stuff on the fly in the main event.
Backstage JB is with Samoa Joe and asks the champion about Kaz getting the shot. Joe says Kaz deserves it but he will retain the title. JB says he doesn't stir things up but than asks about Nash. Joe snaps and grabs JB by the throat. Joe says he doesn't care about Scott, Rick, and even Nash. Joe says if Nash crosses him he will regret it. Great promo by Joe.
Tenay and West talk about the main event. Don says Joe is losing focus because of the stuff with Nash. Mike says Kaz makes the main event unpredictable
Deuces Wild Semi Final Round
Team 3D vs Christian Cage and Rhino- Rhino walks to the ring holding his neck instead of his usual charge to the ring selling the attack by Booker T. Cage also walks slow to the ring. Cage and Ray start us off. Devon jumps Cage from behind in the back of the head. Ray chokes Cage on the ropes and pounds on the head. Neck breaker by Brother Ray. Tag to Devon another shot to the head. Cage with a few kicks but Devon goes to the eyes. Devine hands Ray the Kendo stick. Power slam by Rhino on Devon gets two. Gore by Rhino. Devine jumps in the ring and keeps the referee from making the count. Ray nails Rhino with the kendo stick. Devon covers and 3D wins. Decent match Rhino and cage did a great job of selling there injury.
Post match we see Ray pick up the TNA tag belts as they celebrate like they have already won the whole thing. JB is with Kevin Nash. JB says Joe is not pleased. Nash says he just got a job from the airport. JB says Joe says will choke Nash out. Nash asks JB to follow him.

LAX had the edge to there gimmick where they could get away with being faces and doing heel moves. Don talks about the previous history with LAX and Team 3D.
Backstage Lauren is members of Samoa Joe's family. One of the guys says the entire Samoa Nation is behind Joe. The tease Joe's family was willing to get involved if Joe needed them to. We see Billy Corgan is in the crowd. Hey Metzler I'm still waiting for him to buy TNA like you said he was.
TNA Knockouts Makeover Match Winner gets a Knockouts Title Match Runner Up Gets there Head Shaved Gail Kim vs ODB vs Angelina Love vs Velvet Sky vs Rhakah Kahn vs Roxxi Laveaux vs Jacqueline vs Christy Hemme vs Salinas vs Traci Brooks- Match starts under battle royal rules when they are down to two Knockouts it becomes a ladder match. The winner gets a title shot the loser is shaved. Now Gail Kim had won a match on Impact that meant she was exempt from getting her head shaved so if she was the runner up the last girl eliminated from the battle royal got shaved. Now a lot of people with matches go "Why would they risk it." First they were ordered into the match by Cornette in storyline and second wrestlers are supposed to be like fighters they take risk every time they go out anyway just like the next woman to fight Ronda Rousey is risking a broken arm. Wild brawling to start. We see the Beautiful People double teaming Hemme. Roxxi blocks the Salinas Tornado DDT and eliminates her. Khan with awful looking punches on Jacqueline. Traci tries to eliminate Velvet but Sky lands on the apron. Big shot by Traci and Velvet is out. Traci eliminated by Angelina Love right after that. Khan catches Hemme on a cross body and eliminates her. ODB and Jackie double team Khan. Roxxi and Gail Kim square off. ODB holds Khan and Jackie hits a middle rope drop kick. Gail tries to get rid of Love but she stays on the apron. Angelina helps Jackie and ODB get rid of Khan. Gail gets rid of Jackie and Roxxi takes out ODB and than back body drops Angelina out of the match. Love takes a pretty impressive bump over the top all the way to the floor. Down to Gail and Roxxi meaning if Roxxi wins Angelina is shaved. Angelina starts freaking out and tries to leave. The referees order Angelina to sit in the barbers chair. Roxxi tosses Gail down. Roxxi gets a ladder. Angelina tries to grab the ladder but gets hit by it. Baseball drop kick by Gail into the ladder. Gail gets her own ladder. and takes it into the ring. Gail climbs but Roxxi cuts her off. Gail with a rana and than she shoves the ladder into Roxxi's head. Sadly Roxxi didn't block the shot correctly and actually got busted open by the ladder and no tho wasn't her balding this was her getting hurt. Gail sets the ladder in the corner. Roxie gets up and whips Gail into the ladder. Hip check by Roxxi. We see Angelina on the outside cheering on Gail and unlike like WWE randomly cutting to Vickie I get this since Angelina had a stake in what was going on. Monkey flip by Gail sends Roxxi into the ladder. Angelina tosses another into the ring and gives it to Gail. Both girls climb and trading of blows on the top Sunset bomb by Gail. Angelina grabs onto Roxxi's leg. Roxxi kicks free. Spine buster onto a ladder by Roxxi. Velvet Sky hits the ring but Roxxi kicks her. The referee is getting rid of Velvet. Angelina back in and she knock off the ladder as Roxxi climbs. Roxxi hits the ropes. Gail recovers and starts to climb and pulls down the contract. Very good match. Another example of the the Knockouts Division is so different than the Divas division.
Post match Gail attacks Angelina but the BP's double team her. Roxxi saves Gail. Gail keeps trying get Angelina into the chair. Finally thins settle down and the referee tells Roxxi she has to get shaved. The barber starts cutting and shaving. In what really done moment we actually see the other knockouts looking on as Roxxi gets shave. Angelina and Velvet Roxxi. Fans start to chant Fire Russo. Angelina and Velvet grab the hair and walk off with it like trophy. Now the IWC crapped on this match but you know what this was a big heat getting moment. The fans chanted Fire Russo because they were mad Roxxi got screwed. How could you not hate the Beautiful People after this how could not admire Roxxi for this. Hell there was a massive Roxxi chant after this. Also I should note a few things Roxxi was paid a bonus as they do in matches like this. TNA asked for volunteers before the match was announced and Roxxi was willing to do it because as part of gimmick she had been dying her hair witch actually damaged it pretty badly. From what I hear by shaving it that allowed new healthy hair to grow in.
Backstage JB asks Nash if this is a good idea. Nash goes into the Joe dressing room. Joe says he knows how Kevin works. Joe says he will break Nash if he tries something. Nash says he was picking Steiner's brain. Nash says Joe needs to start using his brain. Joe says he doesn't need Nash. Nash says fine and says he will stay in the back. Joe warns Nash if he shows up at ringside he's on the wrong team. Good segment to build the ongoing Joe and Nash story.

West and Tenay try to set up for the main event. Eric Young comes out to hype the next PPV Slammivesary takes place in Memphis. Eric says he is going to find Elvis and and bring him to Slammivesary. West with the line of the night "He's not right." I really loved what TNA did for main events back than. We see the guys walking to the entrances ramp for Joe and Steiner we get video's hyping them up. It's one of those little touches you can add to make a match seem like an even bigger deal.

Flux Capacitor attempt but they can't get flip so they smartly play if off like Steiner blocked it and used it as a chance to hurt Kaz. Steiner covers and gets two. Kaz fire back and and goes for the FC again. Steiner toss Kaz off the ropes to the floor below. Joe up nails a kick. Muscle Buster for the win by Joe. Damn good three way. All there guys had some cool spots. They covered the one botch well. Even the one guy is down so it's a one on one stuff was handled in a believable way. Trigg says he can't believe it and admits he's amazed by Joe. Don says timing was everything there. We close as Joe Stand tall in the middle of the ring holding his championship belt.
Sacrifice is a mixed bag. The tournament does have some good matches mainly the finals but it doesn't age well. I think it would have been a good idea to reggae things and have Sting and Storm go to the second round having beating AJ and Super Eric. They do a great job working around Angles injury and Kaz more than rises to occasion with the chance he had been given. The Knockout stuff works and I see this as the moment the Beautiful People truly became the most hated heels in the division. The main event works as does the terror dome. I can recommend picking this up but make it an on sale item.
