2013 Year End Awards

With 2013 Ending its time to look back at the year that was. Who was the best? What moments stood out? What events left us buzzing for weeks on end? What fell flat? What made us so mad we we demanded out money back?

In Ring Worker of the Year CM Punk- Punk didn't have it easy this year he found push decreased. But he managed to get good matches out of people like Ryback, Curtis Axel, Brock Lesnar and managed to pull the broken down Undertaker to a match that should be actually be parsed as great and now just give a "two legends" bump. Time and again Punk managed to do the most with the least and was able to keep fans interested even as he was shoved aside in favor of Cena and the Rock earlier in the year. Hopefully 2014 will see the Best in the World get some ring time with guys like Ambrose, Rollins, Bryan and Ziggler so we can see him at his very best.

Talker of the year Bully Ray- In an era where so many heels want to be cool Bully knows you need to be hated. Time and again even though you know this is all planned out and he is playing a role Bully bad people truly hate him just to watch is heel turn at Lockdown when have you seen that kind of true hate in modern wrestling. Plus earlier in the years he managed to save a number of segment with Brooke Hogan that with anyone else could have really stunk instead Bully made them worth watching just to see what he was doing. A lot of young wrestlers could learn a lot by studying Bully.

Tag Team of the Year- reDragon Kyle O'Riley and Bobby Fish- O'Riley and Fish managed to find a real chemistry with each other. The two had two reigns of the ROH Tag Titles. And stole several ROH shows working with The American Wolves and the Forever Hooligans. Even when they lost the belts you couldn't help but wait for them to get them back. With the Wolves on the way out of ROH I reDragon keeping the spots as the best working team in ROH for a while.

Most Improved Wrestler Garrett Bischoff- Garrett started in ring career in a tough spot he was a baby face most thought only got his job because of his father and he only had a few moves. I thought he actually showed a great deal of raw talent for his experience level but in 2013 the guy really took it to the next level. A lot of it I think had to do with his heel turn witch allowed him to brawl more he also showed a nice improvement in his selling and the promo work when he got the chance. While Garrett is still a ways away from being one of the best if he keeps improving and rounding out his game he could show he's not just there because of who his father is.

Comeback of the year Chris Sabin- In 2011 Chris Sabin tore his ACL during a match he went through the long rehab process and returned in 2012 only to tear the ACL in his other leg in his first match back. Fans wondered could he come back again? Would he ever be the same in the ring? Would TNA have the faith to push him? YES YES AND YES! His return saw him quickly regain the X-Division title and have great matches with Manik, Kenny King and Austin Aries. But his biggest moment came during the summer. At TNA's Destination X event Sabin would win the TNA World Title from Bully Ray. Although his title run was short Sabin showed he could hang with the main event level and was more than just An X-Division Guy. His recent heel turn reminded us he could more than just feel good face he also had an awesome match with Jeff Hardy during the TNA Title Tournament.

Gimmick of The Year AJ Styles Lone Wolf- 2012 wasn't the best year for AJ Styles he was locked in a long over done feud with Daniels and Kaz. He took part in the infamous Clair Lynch angel. He was also booked to take a number of key losses. It all led to a very smart move The Phenomenal One was Gone The One was here. AJ's wrestling was always great but he was very smart in changing up his move set a bit to fit the gimmick. If there was one area AJ lacked it was in promos but suddenly his new gimmick made him one of the better talkers. The fans got behind AJ quickly enjoying moments like his refusal to join the Aces and Eights being thrilled by amazing matches with Austin Aries and Bully Ray. And eating out of his hand when he started to bring elements of the old AJ back and told off Dixie Carter.

Female Talent of the Year AJ Lee- AJ was one of the few things I enjoyed about the WWE in 2012 and she kept that going this year. Finally she got a chance to show off what she could do in the ring along with her great crazy girl gimmick. And her feud with Kaitlyn was the best women's feud I have seen in a long time. Its just to bad WWE would rather push Total Divas. AJ your a bright star in a dim world my dear. And Katilyn your awesome to0 just AJ's a little better.

Match of the year Bully Ray vs AJ Styles TNA Bound For Glory- Bully Ray had been the top heel since April AJ was once again the top face. Adding to the story was the real fact AJ's contract had expired. Fans had no idea what to expect both guys went all out taking massive bumps doing all the could to sell the match. It was example of good booking allowing two great talents to do there thing and the right finish AJ pinning Bully to regain the world title and end the biggest TNA show of the year on high note the fans could enjoy.
