Backstage Update on Shane McMahon’s WWE Status

Dave Meltzer reported an update on Shane McMahon’s WWE status in the latest edition of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter.  During last Monday’s edition of Raw, Vince McMahons aid that Shane McMahon will serve as the commissioner of Smackdown after the new brand split. According to the Observer, McMahon still does not have any type of front office position with the WWE, and he has told his friends he has no idea how much longer he will be appearing on WWE programming.

Opinionated View- This feels like the classic no real update from Dave. You know he claims its an update but not much if any real information is given. I guess the part about friends is new. I know many think Shane will some type of wrestling Jesus that will save the WWE (yet many of those same people also keep praising WWE nonstop.) I don't buy that until I actually see him run the company. From what I can tell he has a lot of respect for the wrestlers which would be a plus compared to how I think Stephanie and Triple H often act and think.

The problem is Vince has made it clear that Stephanie and Triple H are the ones that will run the WWE. So right now all we are getting rom Shane is he onscreen stuff. And that has been awful. Its a repeat of  the same stuff he did in like 2000 where he was "Trying to save the WWE from Vince." So I'll be glade he will leave soon.
