Austin Aries made his TNA debut at Sacrifice 2005 after winning a fan vote to face Christopher Daniels in a match. The match was impressive he earned a full time TNA contract. Eventually his ROH tag partner Roderick Strong joined the roster and they were paired up with each other and Alex Shelly giving TNA a take on the Generation Next stable from ROH. Just as they were starting to get a push Aries made (In my opinion anyway) a really stupid move. Deciding to work an ROH show even with a major snowstorm coming down and TNA PPV he was supped to open taking place the next day. Aries and Strong were yanked off TV and Strong was released. Aries was eventually repackaged as Austin Starr a gimmick the was in the same vein as Superstar Billy Graham and Jessie Ventura. He was placed in a feud with Bob Backlund and refused to come in on to tape stuff for the feud on his day off. Aries has also picked up nuclear heat backstage with reports of a bad attitude. When ROH went on PPV TNA yanked all talent under contract. Aries not making much money again off TV in TNA and now unable to work for ROH with a contract asked for his release and it was granted. He returned to ROH eventually turning heel chaining his Austin Aries gimmick to be more like the Austin Starr one and became the only two time ROH champion ever. And I pretty much gave up on the idea of Austin Aries in TNA. I thought the guy was a great talent no doubt but he wasn't worth the trouble and he was to drunk on the ROH Kook-Aid as one of big issues seemed to be anger over not being treated like a main eventer as he was in ROH. Than Jim "The NWA Was Perfect" Cornett took over ROH and eventually Aries was let go from the company as part of a budget cut/ creative shake up/ Cornett's just stupid. (Remember they cut Aries who wrestles and cut great promos and held onto The Bricoes and Roderick Strong.)
Aries did start working some date with DGUSA and EVOLVE but it never caught on. He tried out for the return of Tough Enough and was passed on. Yep WWE thought Big Andy Levine was going to be a big star but didn't' think Austin Aries was good enough to even get on the show. Aries actually was going to give up wrestling after that. Than a call came in from TNA. They wanted him back. At Des X 2012 he won a match to earn a contract. And when Dixie Carter went up to congratulate him he said, "I should be congratulating you." Yep still had the ego but this time it worked. Aries quickly became one of the highlights of any show he was on. The fans dug his matches, his gimmick, his promos by the summer of 2012 he was the hottest act in the whole company. Having won the X-Division title and setting a record for the longest single reign. TNA was ready to put him in the main event. Option C was created and a success so was the event that feared the first ever Option C a success or was it like Aries first stint TNA kind of rough and really and a disappointment.

Christy Hemme who takes over for JB as backstage interviewer is with Samoa Joe. Joe is asked who he thinks will win the world title match. Joe puts over Aries beating him earlier in the year and picks him. I like having other wrestler comment on the world title match as it just makes it seem bigger. We tan move to the Bound for Glory Series where Joe is number two in the standing. Joe says the year before he goal was to hurt mame and kill. Joe says this year he sees the light. Kurt says to him Kurt is ten points to him. Joe says Angle is an ends to a means. Good promo by Joe. I loved having them bring up the previous BFGS where Joe had gone done awful and him talking about learning from it. Because that is what would happen in a real sport.

Jesse promises he will be champion by Destination X 2013 and he will cash in to go win the title. Zema Ion's music plays and he comes out to the rams. Ion mocks Sorenson's injury. This really was a great moment. I have to remind everyone there was a legit fear Sorenson may never walk again. So just seeing him walking is a great moment. Sadly there is no happy ending. Jesse wanted to come back but TNA's doctors said his neck wasn't healing enough to clear him. For a while he did have a job backstage but he never really happy with it form what I hear. When the budget started getting tight in TNA he was let go. It sounds cruel but its the kind of stuff you have to deal with in business. Do you cut Jesse who your doctors say shouldn't wrestle or do you cut someone like Kenny King who can? Having Zema come out was all about heel heat and JB even mention Zema had never even called to check on Jesse.

It wasn't as intense as many of there past matches but I think that was a conscious decision given they weren't feuding at this point and they weren't in a main event spot. I like some of the sequences they pulled off and I enjoy the finish with Joe using his body to prevent the breaks.
Last Man Standing Match AJ Styles vs Christopher Daniels- These two were feuding because they were AJ and Daniels they either were best friends or bitter enemies. They feud had restarted at Des X 2012 and had been going ever since. At this time we staring smack dab in the middle of the worse period of this feud. My buddy Patrick Kelly pointed out that because these two had wrestled each other so many times by the time it restarted we had seen it all from them. And than they feuded non stop for a year plus and to make it worse we got two awful story lines form it. First Daniels and Kazarian accusing AJ of having an affair with Dixie Carter and than Claire Lynch. I assume this was all meant to inject some new life into the feud but it backfired and just dragged it down. Hell I love AJ and Daniels but even I was sick of them by now. Daniels comes out with his TNA tag title. Daniels basil to the floor at the start. He gets back in to climb right back out. Finally AJ has hand enough and gives chase. Daniels spits in AJ's face. Daniels goes under the ring and gets a table and drags it back to over by the ramp and stage. Daniels sets i up. Daniels puts AJ back on the ramps. Daniels gets ready for the Angles Wings. AJ rushes Daniels back into Kazarian knocking him over. Pelle by AJ. Styles Clash off the ramp though the table. Both men are down (Three if you count Kaz.) Styles uses the guard rail and gets up to get the win. This is a very good match. Of course it is its AJ and Daniels they never had bad ones. The stipulation does help to make it different from previous matches. The issues though remains the feud was at that point it should have stopped already and if you are re-watching the 2011/2012 PPVs in order you have seen this so many times in a row your going to be sick of it. Had this been the end of the feud it would have been a good capper but it wasn't they just kept going.

Roode side steps the suicide dive and Aries smacks the guard rails. I love how both times Aries has gone for something big out of his usual high flying spots Roode has had it scouted. This was the match of the year in 2012 I don't' care what over rated match Undertaker had that year it wasn't as good as this. Its starts off slow and builds on almost every little spot. The technical wrestling is great the high spots are done well sold correctly and never rushed. I also love how when the match starts Roode is cocky than he can't put Aries the guy "Not even in his league" away so he goes to the bag of tricks. The heel moves fail and than he gets desperate like a boxer or MMA fighter going for a knockout blow only to open himself up to get caught. This is a hard match to review because I just want to watch it not review it. I get caught up in all the match.
The fans pop huge time for the title change. Tenay and JB put over what a great match it is. Confetti falls from the sky as Aries celebrates his title win. We close as Tenay tells us Destination X will go down in the record books as the night Austin Aries became world heavyweight champion. The title change legit stunned me. Roode had won the world title by cheating his long time tag partner James Storm out of it. With Storm leading the BFGS it looked like the big blow would be the main event for the world title. But Roode vs Storm didn't need the world title. Instead we got the great Roode vs Storm death match and the awesome Hardy vs Aries world title match. Plus by having a fan favorite world champion it allowed the Aces and Eights to target him.
Overall this show is awesome the main event alone is worth the price of admission. The tournament is pretty good and give us a nice look at different talents and no match feels the same or a repeat of what we had just seen. Even the worst match on the card isn't that bad its just comes off as filing. Defiantly pick this one up sometime. Its one of the stronger TNA shows from Hogan Era.
