The AAA lucha libre promotion is said to be in talks with Madison Square Garden in New York City to run an event this September per a new report by Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com on Tuesday.
It is unclear if AAA is looking to run the smaller Madison Square Garden theater that holds 4,500 fans, or Madison Square Garden itself.
AAA did run and sellout an event at the Madison Square Garden theater back in July 1994, which was during the peak era of the company, that featured WWE Hall of Famers Jake Roberts and Eddie Guerrero as part of the main event.
The Young Bucks and Cody has also teased during the ROH TV tapings at Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City this past weekend that a second “ALL IN” event might take place in 2019 at a “building a couple blocks away” which would imply Madison Square Garden.
AAA recently saw the return of WWE Hall of Famer and TNA/Impact Founder Jeff Jarrett this past weekend to the company, appearing as the newest member of the MADD heel faction led by Konnan, where Jarrett won the AAA Mega Championship once again in a Triple Threat Match over Dr. Wagner Jr. and Rey Mysterio.
Konnan has also recently returned to the company, after having a fallout with owner Dorian Roldan back in 2015 that led him to leave both AAA and Lucha Underground and begin projects with The CRASH in Tijuana and AroLucha out in Nashville with Ron and Don Harris.
Should either the AAA event, or a second “ALL IN” event take place at Madison Square Garden itself, it would be the first time a non-WWE pro wrestling event would be held at Madison Square Garden in well over 50 years, as the venue has historically been exclusive to WWE events.
