EC3’s Still No. 1
Ethan Carter III blazes into the Impact Zone as Christy Hemme announces the first TNA World Heavyweight Championship match.
EC3 wants an explanation for not being involved in either World Heavyweight Title match despite being the number the one contender. He demands a chair and says he’ll have an old-fashioned sit-in until he gets one. He’s met with silence beyond a chorus of boos. EC3 regretfully informs the crowd that Destination X has been cancelled.
EC3 challenges anyone to interrupt his sit-in. Kurt Angle makes his way to the ring. He and EC3 have a heated and censored exchange. EC3 threatens to end Angle’s career before leaving the ring.
Spud enters the arena as EC3 leaves.
TNA World Heavyweight Championship | Kurt Angle (c) vs. Rockstar Spud
Josh Mathews calls Spud’s match against Angle a publicity stunt by Impact Wrestling. Mathews declares it impossible for Spud to defeat 6-time champion and TNA Hall of Famer Kurt Angle. Jeremy Borash introduces Brian Hebner as the official, before announcing the combatants.
Spud and Angle lock up in the center of the ring. Angle powers spud to the mat before wrenching in a headlock. Using the ropes, Spud forces a break – but Angle’s right back on him. Spud breaks free and takes down Angle with a drop toe hold that he follows up with a missile dropkick and headscissors!
Angle rolls from the ring and Spud leaps from the apron. Angle catches him with a release belly-to-belly suplex! Angle reasserts his dominance with a follow-up suplex in the center of the ring. He locks in another headlock that Spud counters with a chin breaker.
Spud’s off the ropes but he’s caught with a backbreaker. Angle goes for the Angle Slam, but Spud counters and catches him with an enziguri! Spud ducks a clothesline from Angle before landing a series of jabs. Angle’s sent outside. Spud knocks him from the apron and flies from the turnbuckle with a senton-like assault that catches the Angle’s neck!
Spud scales the turnbuckle again. He flies, but Angle catches him with a huge overhead belly-to-belly suplex! Angle makes the cover; Spud’s out at two! He slips out of a second Angle Slam and attempts an enziguri but Angle counters, turning it into an Ankle Lock!
Spud rolls through, sending Kurt into the corner. He attempts an Underdog, but Angle powers out and motions for a third Angle Slam! Spud again slips out – and when Angle charges, Spud moves, sending the champion shoulder-first into the ring post!
Spud connects with the Underdog! He makes the cover – and Angle just kicks out before three!
Angle grabs Spud’s ankle and applies his famed submission maneuver! Spud tries rolling through again, but Angle increases his leverage by sitting down. Spud taps and Angle retains!
Winner: Kurt Angle
A “Knockout” Challenge
Knockouts’ Champion Taryn Terrell enters with her Dollhouse playmates, Marti Bell and Jade. She says she promised something special for Destination X – and that the Dollhouse will never disappoint.
Taryn says Kong can wrestle her for the title, but that they’ll have to bare all to see who the toughest and sexiest Knockout is. She announces the stipulation: a lingerie pillow fight!
Taryn instructs Marti Bell to hold up a garment. She says Kong must wear it; otherwise her title shot is revoked.
X-Division Championship Qualifier | Low Ki vs. Manik vs. Crazzy Steve
Low Ki lands a kick to the midsection of Crazzy Steve, before being taken down by Manik. Crazzy Steve sends Low Ki out of the ring before being sent out himself by Manik. Manik appears poised for a suicide dive but Low Ki keeps him at bay with an overhead kick.
Manik and Low Ki collide in the ring. Manik cinches in a headscissor armbar that he rolls through into a pin attempt. Low Ki kicks out and Crazzy Steve reenters the fray. Manik alternates his offense between Low Ki and Steve. Steve leaps onto Manik’s shoulders, but Low Ki sprinboards off the ropes and catches Steve with a kick to the face!
Manik catches Low Ki with a stiff kick to the face. Crazzy Steve breaks up the count before three. Manik ascends the turnbuckle, but Steve is there to give him a shove. Manik crashes to the mat. Crazzy Steve climbs the ropes. He misses a crossbody to Low Ki and then Manik grabs him. Low Ki delivers a running dropkick that sends Steve into Manik and Manik into the turnbuckle.
Low Ki drops the Warrior’s Way on Manik for the win!
Winner: Low Ki
Backstage: Grado is exercising, in preparation for his X-Division qualifying opportunity. He says he needs to drop a few pounds to compete in the X-Division.
Video: A recap of Storm’s “accidental” assault on Mickie James is shown. (Josh Mathews and Pope say Magnus will be on Impact next week to address the assault. They provide an update saying Mickie James was not physically harmed).
X-Division Championship Qualifier | DJ Z vs. Mandrews vs. Tigre Uno
DJ Z clubs Tigre Uno at the opening bell. Mandrews comes from behind, but DJ Z locks in a headlock. Tigre Uno locks in a headlock of his own on DJ Z. The holds break and Mandrews is sent outside.
DJ Z and Tigre Uno exchange blows until DJ Z lands a dropkick. Mandrews flies in over the top rope with a bulldog attempt on DJ Z. Instead, DJ Z counters, launching Mandrews toward Tigre Uno. Mandrews connects with a tilt-a-whirl headscissor.
DJ Z makes a clothesline attempt, but Mandrews ducks and takes him down to that mat. He scores a standing moonsault and a pin attempt. DJ Z is out at two. Mandrews misses a kick and receives an atomic drop for his efforts. DJ Z follows up with a double kick to the chin.
Tigre Uno collides with both of his opponents using a missile dropkick! Tigre Uno positions DJ Z on the top rope and Mandrews charges Tigre Uno. Uno pops him up over his head and DJ Z connects with a mid-air spear!
DJ Z makes a cover that Tigre Uno interrupts with a dropkick. The pace quickens and Tigre Uno connects with a leg drop to DJ Z. This time, Mandrews interrupts the pin and catches Tigre Uno with a springboard tornado DDT.
Tigre Uno rolls outside, but Mandrews leaps over the top rope with a hurricanrana! DJ Z somersaults out of the ring to ground both of his opponents. He rolls Mandrews into the ring and comes off the ropes with a tornado DDT of his own. DJ Z heads up top, but he’s shoved to the arena floor by Tigre Uno.
Tigre Uno pulls Mandrews into the center of the ring and connects with a corkscrew 450 splash!
Winner: Tigre Uno
Post-match: Jessie Godderz assaults DJ Z! Godderz powerbombs DJ Z into the turnbuckle before press slamming him over the top rope.
Backstage: Grado exercises while wrapped in a black trash bag.
Lingerie Pillow Fight for the Knockouts Championship?
The Dollhouse enters the Impact Zone as Christy Hemme announces a “lingerie pillow fight” for the Knockouts Championship. Taryn lies across the bed set up in the ring. She promises her lingerie will get blood pumping in a whole new way. Taryn invites Kong to the ring.
Kong’s music fills the arena and she emerges – sans lingerie. Taryn screams that Kong’s ruining playtime! Taryn backs away as Marti Bell and Jade meet Kong at the ropes. Marti tells Kong to turn around “like a nice little monster” and to go put on the lingerie they picked out in her size.
Kong rips Marti Bell and Jade from the ring. She destroys them and takes them out of the Impact Zone.
On the mic. Taryn says, “Well oops! I guess you all don’t get to see me in my lingerie. What a tease I am,” before demanding to be announced the winner of the match.
Brooke emerges, calling the idea of a lingerie pillow fight for the title a disgrace to the entire division. Taryn disregards Brooke and demands to be declared the winner by Christy Hemme. Christy refuses. Brooke tells Taryn to stop – that she promised to defend her title while showing off a little lingerie.
Brooke issues an open challenge to Taryn. Taryn says she hasn’t challenged Brooke. She cautions Brooke by saying that she’s destroyed Gail Kim and embarrassed Awesome Kong. Brooke assaults and disrobes Taryn! Taryn screams and covers up with a pillow as Brooke vows to take the title.
Backstage: Bobby Roode says he’ll have Austin Aries’ back in his match against Kurt Angle, if he needs it.
Backstage: Grado steps onto a scale to see if he’s made weight for the X-Division. Jeremy Borash tells him there’s no weight limit for the X-Division.
X-Division Championship Qualifier | Kenny King vs. Cruz vs. Grado
Grado works the crowd while dancing around the ring. He climbs between the ropes and the fun ends as Kenny King takes a cheap shot! Cruz unleashes a flurry of offense, but he’s thwarted to the mat by Kenny King.
Grado crawls between King’s legs, but King catches him with an enziguri! King unloads a series of chops before shifting his focus toward Cruz. King mounts Cruz in the corner and connects with a running dropkick. King makes a pin attempt; Grado interrupts. King locks Grado in a chokehold.
Cruz attempts to break the hold, but King releases Grado and powers through Cruz with a powerful clothesline! Grado dodges King and sends him into the turnbuckle. Cruz attempts to deliver a German suplex to Grado, but he can’t lift him. Grado sweeps the leg and attempts a figure four to Cruz. Cruz counters and Kenny King pummels Grado with a big boot!
King unloads a hard right on Cruz. Cruz comes back with a crossbody and a headscissor takedown. King powers Cruz to the mat. Grado catches King with a series of rights and alternating forearm and elbow shots. King charges toward Grado; Grado sends King over the top rope.
Grado nails Cruz with the Roll ‘N Slice to pick up the win.
Winner: Grado
Backstage: Bram has taken out a cameraman and says he’ll make history.
Bram’s Challenge
Bram says there’s a lot of talk about how the X-Division helped build TNA – and how there’s a celebration of TNA’s history, known as Slammiversary. Bram says he “absolutely” hates history – and the past. He calls out any past TNA star for a fight.
Bram declares that he will rewrite the past, present and future – as Crimson answers his challenge.
Singles Match | Bram vs. Crimson
Crimson takes down Bram in the early part of the match. He connects with a suplex and a back body drop. Bram rolls to the outside and invites Crimson out. Despite his efforts, Crimson counters Bram’s every move, frustrating the unstable competitor.
Crimson pursues Bram outside the ring once more and Bram sends him into the guardrail. His railed assault continues until finally the action returns to the ring. Bram taunts Crimson after nailing a couple of rights. Crimson battles back, ultimately applying the Rings of Saturn!
Bram forces the break when his foot reaches the bottom rope. Crimson attempts the Rings of Saturn once more, but Bram bites his hand before delivering the Brighter Side of Suffering.
Winner: Bram
Backstage: Kurt Angle vows to defeat Austin Aries to retain his championship
Backstage: EC3 says he’s enraged and that when he’s done, Kurt Angle won’t be getting up.
TNA World Heavyweight Championship | Austin Aries vs. Kurt Angle (c)
Angle takes Aries to the mat. Aries counters; he and Angle reach their feet. They exchange holds and Aries misses a dropkick. The miss creates and opportunity for Angle to take advantage.
Angle whips Aries into the corner. Aries leaps over Angle as he rushes in for a shoulder block. Aries drops the champion with a running clothesline and a few rights of his own. Angle counters a shot from Aries and sends him across the ring. Aries hops onto the ropes, but Angle has him well scouted and catches Aries with a belly-to-back suplex. Aries flips out!
Aries goes over the top rope with a rolling senton that he follows up with a diving uppercut to the back of Angle’s neck. Isolating the neck, Aries applies a rear chin lock. Angle refuses to tap. Angle attempts a counter, but Aries gets him in position for a brainbuster. Angle counters!
Angle catches Aries with a belly-to-belly suplex and series of German suplexes! Aries stumbles to his feet as Angle stalks him for an Angle Slam! Aries counters the Angle Slam into a DDT. Aries rolls into the Last Chancery! Angle refuses to tap. Aries flips out of the hold only to be caught in an Ankle Lock!
Aries rolls through, sending Angle into the turnbuckle. He charges toward Angle; Angle sends him over the top rope to the apron. Aries hangs Angle on the top rope and connects with a missile dropkick. Angle stumbles back into the corner and Aries flies with a running missile dropkick. Angle counters and locks in a second Ankle Lock!
Aries struggles, but he makes it to the ropes forcing a break. Angle attempts a German suplex, but Aries uses the top rope for leverage. Aries counters with an elbow shot to the face. Angle surprises Aries with an Angle Slam, but Aries kicks out of the pin at two!
With Aries down, Angle attempts a moonsault. He misses and Aries rolls into the Last Chancery! Angle digs deep and crawls successfully to the bottom rope! Aries heads to the top rope; Angle meets him. He shoves Angle to the mat twice before connecting with a 450 splash! Aries makes the cover; Angle just manages to get his shoulder up!
Aries and Angle trade punches and chops! Angle attempts another Angle Slam, but Aries counters and connects with two discuss forearms and a brainbuster! Aries makes the cover; Angle manages to get his foot on the ropes!
Aries applies an Ankle Lock of his own; Angle reverses! Aries rolls through, sending the champion outside. Aries flies with a suicide dive, but Angle moves, leaving his challenger to collide with the guardrail! He rolls Aries into the ring and lifts him for an Angle Slam. Aries rolls through and gets a two-count!
Angle applies another Ankle Lock. This time Angle sits, as he did with Rockstar Spud. Aries taps.
Winner: Kurt Angle
Post-match: EC3 takes a cheap shot on Angle. EC3 holds up the World Heavyweight Championship
