* Welcome. Tonight’s Smackdown takes place at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas. We have a few segments announced for tonight’s episode which include a MizTV segment, Bray Wyatt’s first match since his loss to The Undertaker at Wrestlemania, Adrian Neville (or just “Neville”) in another match, as well as New Day vs Kidd and Cesaro and Sheamus & Bad News Barrett vs Dolph Ziggler and the WWE Intercontinental Champion, Daniel Bryan. Keep your eyes here for live updates, and join in on the conversation in the comments below!
* Smackdown opens with Daniel Bryan coming to the ring with a big pop. He talks about Sheamus attacking him and Ziggler on Raw a week ago and Wade Barrett costing him his match last week against Sheamus, before he can finish, Bad News Barrett himself interrupts him. He says Bryan’s “magical week” turned into a nightmare when he dropped him with a bullhammer, and out comes Sheamus with his cool new theme, who says “…and then I kicked your head off with a brogue kick” and tells Bryan not to pick a fight with someone bigger than him. “You look stupid” chant breaks out pretty loudly. He calls Bryan a munchkin while putting over Barrett, and threatens that he and Barrett will kick his ass because they can. Ziggler’s music hit and he comes out. He says Sheamus looks like Carrot Top and Jack Sparrow had a baby. All four are ready to fight when Big Show comes out, He agrees with Sheamus and calls himself the greatest giant of all time thanks to winning the battle royal at Wrestlemania. He wants in on the fun of beating Ziggler and Bryan and then from the crowd comes Roman Reigns. Reigns gets in and he, Ziggler and Bryan clear the ring.
*The announcers put over the MizTV segment later, as well as Neville’s Smackdown debut. We also see Tyson Kidd, Cesaro and Natalya heading towards the ring. They’re in action after the commercial break.
*A 6-man tag team match is announced as the main event pitting Ziggler, Bryan and Reigns against Sheamus, Barrett and Big Show.
* New Day (Kofi Kingston and Big E) vs Tyson Kidd and Antonio Cesaro
New day cuts a promo before the match, basically demanding the crowd to like and love them. They’re fed up with the “New Day Sucks” chants. It’s not a bad promo, just basically a repeat of what they said on Raw. Kofi and Kidd start the match, and Kofi seems distracted by the “New Day Sucks” chants as he and Kidd start with chain wrestling. Kidd and Kofi have a stare down after Kofi reversed a leg lock by Kidd. Kidd gets Kofi in the corner and hits some forearms before going for a monkey flip which Kofi landed on his feet. Cesaro tags in and hits a nice uppercut on Kofi and starts clapping to induce the “new day sucks” chants again. Kidd tags back in and hits a spin kick before hitting the ropes, but Kofi slides under the ropes and pulls Kidd out. Cesaro comes in and charges, but Kofi sends him out as well. He tags in Big E and then hits a suicide dive over the top rope as we go to commercial. Back from commercial, Big E hits a belly to belly for two on Tyson Kidd. Both men are down as Cesaro gets the tag and hits a nice gutwrench suplex on Big E. His strength is unreal. Cesaro gets a two and locks on a side headlock and hits some vicious strikes in it. Kidd takes in and hits a slingshot legdrop to Big E on the apron before tagging Cesaro back in who hits a slingshot double stomp for a one count. Cesaro locks in a front face lock. Cesaro side steps a charging Big E and E goes crashing shoulder first into the turnbuckle, Cesaro follows with a roll up for two and a big swing for two as well as Kofi breaks it up. Big E gets to his feet in the corner as Cesaro charges and Big E catches him with a Rock Bottom-type slam. Hot tag to Kofi as Cesaro tags Kidd and Kofi hits his dropkicks and clotheslines before connecting with a boom drop. He calls for the Trouble in Paradise, but is distracted by the chants. Cesaro runs in, but Big E runs him off. Kidd tosses Kofi towards the middle rope as Cesaro hits a sick uppercut followed by Kidd’s spinning fisherman’s suplex for the win in a pretty solid match.
Official Result: Tyson Kidd and Cesaro via pinfall @ 10:24
*We get a recap of Seth Rollins’ promo from Raw and Randy Orton’s number one contenders match win and subsequent Rollins’ Crub Stomp to Orton.
*WWE is running another free month of the WWE Network for new subscribers in April, which includes Extreme Rules. King points out the Attitude Era and Jericho’s latest podcast as selling points, before they hype up Wyatt’s match. Neville’s match is up next as we go to commercial.
*Back from commercial and Curtis Axel is in the ring and refers to Extreme Rules as Axe-treme Rules. I chuckled at it. He says #Axelmania will live forever and calls out Neville. He rips his shirt to end the promo.
*Curtis Axel vs Neville
Neville comes out to a big pop. They lock up and go into the corner and Axel goes to toss Neville over the top, but Neville handsprings against the rope. He evades a few more attacks and his a spinning back kick to knock Axel down. Axel takes control though and beats on Neville in the corner. He whips Neville into the opposite corner but Neville does hits handsprings and a big boot. He knocks Axel out of the ring and hits the ropes for a beautiful moonsault plancha. Scoop slam to Axel followed by an awesome Red Arrow ends the match.
Official Result: Neville via pinfall @ 2:14
*Renee Young is backstage with Natalya, Cameron and Alicia Fox. She asks them about manipulating Kane into making a battle royal for the number one contenders spot on next week’s Raw. They argue about their accomplishments. Natalya and Alicia start pushing each other, as Cameron tries to break them up.
*We get more hype for the six man tag team match main event as we go to commercial.
*Natalya vs Alica Fox: Special Referee: Cameron
Back from commercial all the girls are in the ring. They go right at it and start shoving and slapping each other before Natalyla takes Alicia down and they start rolling around until Cameron breaks it up. Big forearm by Alicia followed by a missed senton. Dropkick by Nattie gets a two. Whip into the corner and a big boot by Alicia as she taunts Natalya. She covers for a two count. Northern lights suplex gets a two for Alicia as she tells Cameron to shut up. Reverse chin lock by Alicia, Natayla breaks the hold, but Alicia throws her down by her hair and covers for barely a two count and goes back to the reverse chin lock, this time grabbing the nose. Nattie breaks out and hits the ropes, ducks a clothesline and reverses a tilt-a-whirl into a crossbody for two, but Alicia hits a forearm to end Nattie’s offense. They exchange strikes before Alicia goes for a sunset flip. Natalya rolls through and locks on a Sharpshooter for the win.
Official Result: Natalya via submission @ 3:40
*After the match, Cameron lays out both divas and screams for her mirror before posing to end the segment.
*Tom Philips announces Bray Wyatt vs Erick Rowan for tonight, as we get a recap of the history between the two competitors. That match is up next. We go to commercial.
*Bray comes out first for his match and cuts a promo about Erick Rowan. He says Rowan was looked at as a creature and a plague. He said when everyone saw all of his flaws, he saw his possibilities. He said he showed Rowan what it was like to love and have a family, and was proud to call Rowan his brother. He said he had to choice but to set him free so that Rowan can see what a horrible world we live in with nothing more than people that want nothing more but to tear him apart. He calls Rowan broken as he was before and blames the WWE Universe. He wants to teach Rowan one last lesson: No matter what, you can’t trust anyone and there is evil in us all. He vows to destroy Erick Rowan tonight. He says imagine if he can do that to somebody he loves, imagine what he “can do to you.” He doesn’t refer to who the “you” is.
*Bray Wyatt vs Erick Rowan
We start with Bray sitting in the corner smiling and laughing before they go to lock up, but Rowan tosses Bray into the corner instead, but Bray takes control with some strikes. Rowan fights back with some headbutts and rams Bray into the turnbuckle before knocking him outside the ring. Wyatt goes back in and starts hammering away at Rowan and even grabs him by the beard. This pisses off Rowan who throws Bray into the corner and hits him with a bunch of headbutts. He goes for a corner spear, but Bray moves and he goes into the turnbuckle and out of the ring. He gets onto the apron, but Bray hits the ropes and knocks him off into the barricade as we go to commercial.
Back from commercial and Rowan escapes a reverse chin lock before Bray hits a big DDT for a two count. Bray goes for his senton, but Rowan gets his knees up and both men are slow to get up. Rowan hits a few clotheslines before hitting a few corner splashes and big spinning kick for a two count. Rowan goes up top, but Bray moves and rolls out of the ring. Rowan follows and charges, but Bray catches him with a giant forearm and then hits his senton on the outside. Back inside, Rowan goes for a full nelson slam, but Bray hits his flying forearm move. Both men are down until Bray starts spider walking and goes for Sister Abigail. Bray connects with the move and gets the three.
Official Result: Bray Wyatt via pinfall @ 8:29
*We see Miz walking towards the ring backstage, and MizTV is next as we go to commercial.
*Back from commercial, we get a recap of Miz beating Mizdow on Raw using the tights as Miz is in the ring for MizTV. Miz says it’s a movie edition, as apparently Marine 4: Moving Target is coming out tomorrow on DVD and Blu-Ray. They show a trailer for it, and it looks about as bad as you’d expect. Summer Rae interrupts Miz, and says it’s THEIR movie. Miz says she’s lucky to even be in the movie and tells her to sit in the chair and speak when spoken to. They argue over who the real star of the movie is. He says the only reason she’s on the movie cover is because he allowed it. Miz says he made Summer Rae a star just like he made Mizdow a star. Summer agrees, and reminds him that Mizdow eliminated him from the battle royal at Wrestlemania. Mizdow mentions are getting big pops. He said he doesn’t blame Mizdow for what he’s done, but rather the WWE Universe. He said the WWE Universe made Mizdow believe he’s something that he’s not. A big “we want Mizdow” chant starts. Miz says that in three months, Mizdow will be nobody. He gives a brief history on Sandow being released twice before Miz gave him an opportunity. Out comes Mizdow to a big pop. Miz offers to give Mizdow his job back, and says the fans can’t get his life on track, but that Miz can. If Mizdow says “I’m sorry” and Miz will forgive him. Miz keeps begging, then yells and this goes on a bit too long before Mizdow shakes his hand and says “I’m sorry” over and over. “I’m sorry I didn’t do this sooner.” And then assaults The Miz, driving him out of the ring to a big pop. Mizdow kisses Summer Rae to end the segment.
*We cut to footage of Wrestlemania Week. It seemed like a lot of fun. Not much to note here before we cut to commercial. Our main event is next.
*Back from commercial we get a recap of last week’s main event with Sheamus defeating Daniel Bryan after Bad News Barrett’s Bullhammer.
*Sheamus, Big Show and Bad News Barrett vs Roman Reigns, Dolph Ziggler and Daniel Bryan
Everyone makes their entrances as we head to another commercial.
Back from commercial, Sheamus and Ziggler are starting things off. They lock up and Sheamus keeps shoving Ziggler into the corner. They get into a slap fight before Ziggler backs Sheamus against the ropes. Sheamus quickly breaks that up and tags in Big Show who hits a big right hand to the guy of Ziggler. He throws Ziggler into the corner and hits a big chop as we get that nifty new camera angle from in the turnbuckle. Whip and a splash into the corner by Show. He goes for another, but Dolph hits a drop kick to the knee followed by a huge (literally) DDT for a two count. Show’s in the corner and Dolph goes for a splash, but Show hits a big chop to knock him down and tag in Barrett. Barrett hits a neckbreaker for two and locks in a side headlock. Ziggler fights out and hits the ropes and kicks Barrett in the face. He hits the ropes again and jumps right into a Winds of Change for two. Sheamus tags in now and stomps the hand of Ziggler. Uppercut from Sheamus knocks down Ziggler and Sheamus chokes him against the bottom rope. In the corner now, Sheamus is slapping and taunting Ziggler with some great heel work. Dolph explodes out of the corner with some strikes and reverses a tilt-a-whirl and gets a tag to Bryan. Bryan hits a drop kick that knocks Barrett off the apron and hits his back flip to the ducking a clothesline to the flying elbow combo. A few kicks to the chest of Sheamus, but he does the head kick and charges at Bryan. Bryan dumps him on the outside and hits a suicide dive before rolling him back into the ring. As Bryan does that, Barrett hits a big boot that floors Bryan as we go to our last commercial.
Back from commercial and Big Show has Bryan in a bear hug, which he turns into a big scoop slam and an elbow drop for two. Show tags in Barrett and tosses him into the corner and lays him across the top rope. He hits a few forearms to the back and follows it up with a big kick to the gut. He covers and gets another two count. Barrett locks in a sleeper as a big “We Want Roman” chant erupts, yes, they want Roman. Barrett misses a big boot in the corner and Barrett tags Show in to stop Bryan’s quest for a hot tag. By the way, the We Want Roman chants were clearly by women and children, mostly children. Show hits a headbutt on Bryan. Show knocks Dolph off the apron and signals for the Chokeslam, but Bryan reverses it into the Yes Lock! Show rolls through and tosses Bryan to the outside. Sheamus tags in and goes right after Bryan on the outside before rolling him in. Sheamus has Bryan in the corner and sets him up top and hits a few knees. Bryan starts to fall off, and Sheamus climbs to the second rope and taunts the fans. Bryan fights back and knocks Sheamus off the ropes. Bryan goes for a crossbody, but Sheamus catches him and goes for the White Noise, but Bryan reverses it into a DDT! Sheamus gets the tag to Barrett but Bryan gets the hot tag! Reigns gets Barrett in the corner and starts hitting him with a bunch of short clotheslines before taking him down and hitting a Superman Punch on Show. Superman Punch to Wade Barrett, but Sheamus breaks it up. Dolph takes Sheamus out of the ring, Bryan takes out Big Show. Barrett goes for the Bullhammer, but Reigns counters with the Spear for the win!
