Update on Mistico/Sin Cara’s New AAA Identity

AAA held a press conference today at the Hard Rock Hotel in Puerto Vallarta where they announced that the former Mistico/Sin Cara is now known as Myzteziz, which sounds out as "Mizztizz." Myzteziz appeared on the TV taping last night in Celaya wearing his new gear, which is a hybrid of his old Mistico colors with the Sin Cara type mask. AAA announced that they trademarked this name on 5/8 but Myzteziz went on to say that he would work under his old name of Sin Cara on non-AAA shows so the confusion will still be there.

Opinionated View- I would have gone with Sintico or Misti Cara.

The Original Mistico/Sin Cara Working With AAA

This week AAA confirmed the card for their big 06/07 “Verano de Escandalo” card and it will feature the official in-ring return of the original Mistico/Sin Cara. The most shocking this is that AAA is advertising him under the “Mistico” name which is owned by CMLL, AAA’s main rival in Mexico. CMLL even currently has a new version of the “Mistico” character though he is out with a severe leg injury at the moment.
Mistico originally debuted in AAA back in February at a TV taping but he simply appeared in the shadows wearing a hood while his original Mistico music played. Then earlier this month he once again returned wearing all white to attack his old CMLL rival Averno, who is also still using the CMLL owned “Averno” name (in fact AAA recently debuted veteran wrestler Ricky Marvin under a new character called “Bengala” which is also a name CMLL owns as they have had an undercard luchador working with that name for years). Mistico then again appeared last week at a TV Taping wearing his old Mistico gear. He then took off his mask to reveal a new all white, with gold eye holes, mask, but now AAA is advertising him on the poster for the event in the old Mistico mask so it seems that he is just going to revert back to his old name and look rather than coming up with something new.
Mistico will team with AAA’s Cibernetico and La Parka Jr. in the Main Event against Averno, Perro Aguayo Jr., and Chessman. Both Perro and Averno are considered the biggest rivals in Mistico’s career and he is also very good friends with Averno. Mistico really made a name for himself in feuds against Perro, Averno, and Black Warrior, who too is in AAA right now, back in CMLL.
There have been tons of controversies in Mexico over the use of names. When the original La Parka left AAA he fought to continue using the name but eventually a court order stopped him from doing so now he goes by the name L.A. Park. When the original Psicosis left AAA he was forced to change his name to Nicho el Millionario before recently reverting back to the Psicosis name in AAA. When Psicosis II and Histeria II left AAA they continued to use those names for years following their AAA departure before finally CMLL officially changed their names to Ripper and Morphosis. It would be hard to believe that CMLL will not attempt to fight AAA using both the “Averno” and “Mistico” names at some point though AAA doesn’t seem too worried about it at the moment.

Mistico Drops Sin Cara Name

The original Sin Cara is no longer using the name for his Mexico bookings. The man, formerly known in the country as Mistico, has gone to using the name El Misterioso. He had claimed after he left WWE that he was retaining the Sin Cara name.

Update on the Alleged Altercation Between Sheamus and Sin Cara

- Last night it was reported that Sheamus and Sin Cara (Hunico) had some kind of altercation backstage at this week's TV tapings.

According to wrestlezone.com , the fight did not take pace at this week's TV tapings. The altercation reportedly took place a few weeks ago, and news just got out this week. Sources within WWE have stated that the altercation did take place, and that if the fight had not been broken up, it could have "gotten really bad" for Sheamus.

Sheamus and Sin Cara Get in Altercation at TV Tapings

- A new report says that a scuffle went down backstage between Sheamus and Sin Cara. Few details are available as to the cause or whether it was at the Raw or Smackdown tapings, but one source noted that Sin Cara got the better of Sheamus in the altercation.

Opinionated View- You know what is ironic back when the first Sin Cara was around he would reportedly claim his matches in Mexico has been shoots. Now the second Sin Cara has reportedly won a real shoot with Sheamus. Or it could be Sin Cara pulled a Jericho and slapped Sheamus in the back of the head when he wasn't looking.

The Original Sin Cara Comments On Reports That He Will Wrestle As Mistico

- Sin Cara posted the following on Twitter yesterday….

"Y el chisme de siempre, yo jamás dije q volvería a luchar como mistico, ese personaje es del cmll no mío. Yo le dige a mi amigo Arath de la torre q ya no como mistico q ahora como sin cara estaré en México, gente chismosa. De un momento a otro llega mi liberación de wwe, y ahora si a trabajar en mi México con toda la actitud y ganas del mundo."

The translation is: "The Gossip continues, I never said I would wrestle as Mistico. That character is cmll, not mine. I told my friend I will not be Mistico, I will be Sin Cara in Mexico. People Gossip. Any moment now, I will get my liberation from WWE and now I will be working in Mexico with all the attitude and enthusiasm in the world."

He was officially released by WWE yesterday.

Mistico Not Happy With WWE's Use Of Sin Cara

Mistico (real name Luis Alvirde), the original Sin Cara, wasn't happy with WWE tweeting photos of the Sin Cara character (played by Hunico) next to Scooby-Doo. Mistico wrote "FRAUDE FRAUDE" on Twitter and sent the tweet to Vince McMahon, Stephanie McMahon and Triple H. He later deleted the tweet.

Mistico is still in a legal battle with WWE over the Sin Cara character, which he claims he owns the rights to.

WWE Threatening Legal Action Against Sin Cara

The first Sin Cara has told people this weekend that the reason why he was a dark shadowy figure on the AAA TV taping last Friday night was because WWE has threatened legal action against AAA if he uses the Sin Cara gimmick on their TV. Sin Cara said that he fully expects by May to be able to use the gimmick.

Original Sin Cara Still Using His Name

- The original Sin Cara (real name Luis Urive) will be competing for AAA in Mexico this weekend. He will be using the Sin Cara name when competing. At this time there is some confusion over who has the actual rights to the Sin Cara gimmick. Urive claims he owns the rights to the name, and plans to use it in Mexico going forward. WWE still uses the Sin Cara character on TV, with Hunico under the mask

WWE Merchandise Sales Update – Cena and Punk Lead The Way

- At this time, John Cena is the top merchandise mover in the company, while the recently departed CM Punk is second. Punk actually outsells Cena in online orders, while Cena's sales thrive at live events. Daniel Bryan is reportedly fourth on the list.

Sin Cara and the Ultimate Warrior are also high up on the list. Both are selling well online and at live events.

Former Sin Cara Signs With World Wrestling League

- The World Wrestling Leage in Puerto Rico has announced that the original Sin Cara (Mistico) has signed with the promotion. Cara's WWE contract expired this month and was not renewed. WWL's president Richard Negrin said in the announcement, "it is an honor and a priviledge to present our newest World Wrestling League's talent, one of the most exciting Mexican "lucha libre" performers around the world: the original SIN CARA! Welcome to your home, the WWL."

Update on the former Sin Cara (Luis Urive) and WWE

Luis Urive, the former Sin Cara in WWE, has stated that WWE will not return his phone calls and claimed he didn't know if he was still employed. Earlier reports had stated that his former WWE contract had already expired. WWE plans to continue using the character going forward, played currently by WWE star Hunico.

Opinionated View- I would hope he would know when his contract expires and I would assume if they aren't taking your calls that's a pretty good sign don't work there anymore.

Another Reason the WWE Still Uses the Sin Cara Gimmick

- The reason that WWE is continuing with the Sin Cara character is due to the Scooby-Doo animated movie. The Sin Cara character is part of the film as well as the toy line related to the film. WWE felt if the Sin Cara character disappeared that the project would feel too dated.

Over the weekend the original Sin Cara was in Mexico and claimed he owns the gimmick so if he does I wonder if he will step in and try to stop the WWE.

Original Sin Cara Says He Owns the Gimmick

The original Sin Cara appeared on the new edition of Mexican wrestling show Tercera Caída. I watched the show and translated the interview from Spanish to English.

The hosts asked him why there is a new Sin Cara wrestling and he responded that he wasn't sure. He said that he was still under contract with WWE when they started using the new Sin Cara.

Cara stated that he owns the character of Sin Cara and that perhaps his lawyers would be taking a look into it, since he has proof he owns Sin Cara.

Cara then stated that he doesn't have anything against the new Sin Cara, Alberto Del Rio or anyone in WWE.

While talking about his run in the company, Cara said that WWE told him he couldn't wrestle the way he did in Mexico. He said that psychologically that had an effect his work since he was limited in what he could do in the ring.

Cara said that he never understood it because they brought him from Mexico knowing the style of wrestling he did, but then told him he couldn't do it in WWE.

He said that led to him not working as hard, gained weight, etc. but now he's once again focused and looking forward to wrestling again in Mexico.

Opinionated View- Well this could get interesting.

Update on the Future of Sin Cara

- As previously reported, when Sin Cara's (the former Mistico) WWE contract ends, he is not expected to be re-signed by the company. Cara is now expected to sign with AAA in Mexico. This is due to the fact that his relationship with CMLL ended badly, and also because CMLL has created a new Mistico.

The Original Sin Cara Returning To The Ring In Mexico

According to Kris Zellner and Pwinsider.com, Sin Cara (Mistico) has announced that he will wrestle on February 1st at the 1st Anniversary of his Sin Cara Gym in Mexico City where he will promote a card to celebrate. With WWE replacing him on TV with Hunico and this announcement, the feeling that the earlier reports of WWE not renewing his contract are confirmed.

Opinionated View- The interesting thing will be how long he will be allowed to use the name Sin Cara since I assume WWE has the rights to it. I do hope this guy can get his career going again prior to the WWE he was a amazing talent.

Another Update on The Original Sin Cara

Mistico's contract is reportedly finished with in January. WWE has the option to renew it if they wish to, though as previously reported he may be done with the company and someone else like Hunico may continue to work as Sin Cara as he did on Monday

Opinionated View- Biggest bust in WWE history? If I had to bet money CMLL or AAA will pick him up once his a free agent.
