WATE.com is reporting that WWE star Glenn Jacobs (aka Kane) won a very close Knox County Mayor Republican Primary on Tuesday by a margin of only 17 votes.
The Knox County Election Commission did announce that a “few provisional ballots” remain, so the official results of the primary won’t be revealed until next week.
“Forty-three provisional ballots still need to be counted. A provisional ballot is used when there are questions about a voter’s eligibility. Thirty-eight of them had no record of voter registration, four had no photo ID, and one had to vote by paper ballot due to an issue with the electronic system. Election officials say it’s likely that not all of the provisional ballots will be valid. They will be counted on Thursday.”
Jacobs was interviewed about his win on Tuesday, calling it a hard fought race.
“People showed up. Together we won tonight. Together we are going to see how great Knox County can be working together.”
No official word at this time what it means for Jacobs and his contractual status with WWE. He had been working live events in recent months for the company.
