Smackdown Commissioner Shane McMahon took to Twitter on Monday morning to make an announcement regarding the WWE Championship and the upcoming Money in the Bank PPV that takes place in five weeks in Chicago.
McMahon noted that a “definitive winner” and “clear victor” is needed between current champion AJ Styles and Shinsuke Nakamura following a series of rematches between the two at the Greatest Royal Rumble and Backlash last Sunday.
While no stipulation was announced, McMahon has officially booked Styles defending the WWE Championship against Nakamura at the Money in the Bank PPV on June 17.
WWE.com has announced that Ronda Rousey will be challenging Nia Jax for the RAW Women’s Championship at the upcoming Money in the Bank PPV on June 17.
Jax made the announcement during the NBC Universal upfronts today at Radio City Music Hall in New York City, which has a big WWE presence today.
E! Online News has already picked up the story, including a quote from Rousey.
“We are very civil and professional ladies, so Nia did just challenge me for Money in the Bank to come after her title. I happily oblige respectfully, so I can sit next to her. We’re professionals, so when we get in there, there’s a job to be done. When we’re outside of the ring, then we can still be respectful to each other. We all have the same goals. We’re all trying to lift the women’s division and to show people that we have more to offer than they’ve given us credit for in the past.”
Jax was also quoted in the article during her appearance.
“We can still get along for now, but once we get in the ring, it’s over. All bets are off, right? I’ve never been in a ring with somebody like Ronda. She’s one of a kind, so there definitely has to be an alternation to my regimen and I’m looking forward to it.”
Rousey is scheduled to join the current WWE European Tour for events starting this week in Switzerland (May 16), Austria (May 17), Italy (May 18) and France (May 19). Rousey is advertised to wrestle Mickie James during the May 19 event in Paris.
Opinionated View- Oh god this is going to be a disaster. AJ and Nakamora have never and will never have a good match together. Hell Nakmaora may never have a good match in WWE. And Nia vs. Rousey is just a terrible idea. First Ronda getting a title shot should be saved for a major show. Second Nia is just awful and Ronda is still super green. This will likely be an awful match. But WWE once again hot shooting something in hopes of getting press.
