5/14 WWE Smackdown Report

We open with a video from Bray Wyatt trashing Ryback before their match on Sunday.  Wyatt says he’s going to turn Ryback’s dreams into nightmares.
*Dean Ambrose kicks off our in-ring segments with a promo about what happened on Raw where he hit Roman Reigns with Dirty Deeds. He says he works best alone, fights alone, drinks alone and said it felt good to be standing all alone on Monday. He says he’s going to be standing all alone after the Payback title match. He runs down each guy in the match, and says he didn’t plan on hitting Reigns with Dirty Deeds. He says he has one thing to say to Roman before Sunday and here comes Reigns himself from the crowd. Dean says he’s not going to apologize to Roman, who gets up in Ambrose’s face. He said he wasn’t expecting one and said it was a one time thing. Roman says it’s his turn for Payback after what Rollins did to him. They go to shake hands but Kane comes out to the stage. They trade insults and Ambrose reminds Kane that if Rollins doesn’t win, he’s out of a job. Kane makes a match pitting Dean against Sheamus and that match is next.

*Dean Ambrose vs Sheamus
They lock up and start brawling into the corner and the ropes. They work some minor chain wrestling into the brawling which was done alright. Headlock takedown by Sheamus, whipped off the ropes by Ambrose who takes a shoulder block. Dean gets a drop toe hold…kind of…and takes down Sheamus and kicks him a few times in the back. Forearm across the face of Sheamus in the corner, but Sheamus reverses the second one and hits a few uppercuts on Ambrose followed by a scoop slam. Ambrose starts fighting back but Sheamus kicks him in the gut and knocks him into the corner. Ambrose hits a flying forearm and a few grounded punches before taking a boot in the corner by Sheamus. Ambrose dodges a charging Sheamus and hits his forearm/bulldog combo before tying Sheamus in the ropes. He misses his dropkick as Sheamus tosses him onto the apron and goes for the 10 beats of the Bodhran which Ambrose reverses. While Ambrose tried to get back into the ring, Sheamus hit a big knee lift that sends Dean to the floor. Sheamus tosses Ambrose into the barricade and possibly a cameraman before rolling back into the ring as we go to commercial.
Back from break Sheamus has Ambrose in a sleeper but he fights out briefly. Sheamus goes for the cloverleaf but Dean breaks out of it before Sheamus is able to lock it on. Ambrose manages to get to the ropes. White Noise attempt is reversed into a roll up for two, but Sheamus hits it after Ambrose hits the ropes. Sheamus calls for the Brogue Kick, but Ambrose rolls out of the ring. Sheamus chases him and rolls him back into the ring, but Ambrose swings himself around on the apron and hits a big lariat on the outside. Suicide dive by Ambrose is thwarted by a forearm, Sheamus goes in the ring and tries for the Brogue again but Ambrose moves. Clothesline over the rope and a suicide dive by Ambrose before he goes for the elbow drop from the top, Sheamus moves and Ambrose rolls through only to run into a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker for two. Ambrose hits the rebound lariat and goes up top. Sheamus stops him and climbs to the second rope. He goes for a powerslam with his back facing the ring, but Ambrose slips out and trips Sheamus face first into the ring post followed by a roll up for the three count.
Winner: Dean Ambrose
*Backstage with Kane, Rollins and J&J Security. Rollins asks Kane if he’s going to help him on Sunday. He says Kane needs to do the right thing, so Kane books him in a match with Ryback. Rollins does not look pleased as we go to commercial.
*Rusev and Lana are out next for a promo. She apologizes to Rusev for doing the Fandango dance on Raw and they trash talk John Cena before their I Quit match on Sunday. We also get a 15-20 second montage of Cena saying “I Quit” that is incredibly annoying.
*Ryback cuts a promo next. He talks about beating Rollins would be a huge win. He doesn’t care about Bray, and Ryback’s hungry.

*We get some Tough Enough audition tapes.
*Rollins cuts a promo before his match with Ryback about how he’s going to pick up the pieces on Sunday after Orton, Reigns and Ambrose tear each other apart.
*Ryback vs Seth Rollins
This match is seemingly over before it’s started as Wyatt attacks Ryback during his entrance as we go to commercial.
Back from break, Rollins thinks he’s gonna win via forfeit, but nope. Rollins stomps away at Ryback and takes control early on until Ryback tries to suplex Rollins but it’s reversed into a reverse STO into the corner. A knee sends Ryback to the outside and J&J Security attack while Rollins distracted the ref. Ryback barely beats a 10 count and comes back in to more kicks from Rollins. DDT by Rollins gets a two count. Ryback starts to fight back with a Lou Thesz, but Rollins comes back with a neckbreaker for two. Ryback fights out of a front facelook and back body drops Rollins. He goes into the corner and dodges a splash by Rollins, but eats a boot. Rollins goes for a crossbody but Ryback catches him and hits a powerslam for a double down. Shoulder blocks by Ryback followed by a spinebuster for two. Ryback calls for the meathook clothesline but is distracted by Mercury. Rollins goes for a roll up but eats the meathook anyway. Rollins reverses a Shellshocked and hits a knee off the top. Avada Kedavra is hit twice by Rollins for the win.
Winner: Seth Rollins
*We get hype for Axel and Mandow vs The Ascension and Bellas vs Naomi and Tamina for Payback. Followed by a promo by Naomi and Tamina Snuka. Naomi continues to prove why she should never be near a microphone. They run down the Bellas and even insult Renee. Jerks.
*Tyson Kidd w/Cesaro & Natalya vs Kofi Kingston w/Xavier Woods & Big E
Before the match, New Day call Tyson Kidd and Cesaro cheaters. Big E says they double dip, they don’t recycle and they pay for one movie ticket and see two movies, like bad people.
We start with a lock up and Kofi taking control early. Kofi hits a reverse suplex and rolls back into a chin lock for a nice spot. Kofi slides outside and Kidd hits a dropkick through the ropes and a suicide dive. Kick out by Kofi in the ring. Kidd goes for the sharpshooter early but Big E gets on the apron. Cesaro takes out Big E but then Woods gets on the apron. Kidd kicks him off the apron and Kofi rolls him up for two. Sharpshooter is locked in off a caught kick by Kidd and Kofi taps in quick fashion.
Winner: Tyson Kidd
*They hype an update on Daniel Bryan’s health after the break
*We’re get a recap of Daniel Bryan’s health update from Raw
*Bo Dallas is out next to cut a promo on Daniel Bryan. He says there are five stages of grief and he’ll help the fans through them all. He goes through each stage and blasts Bryan through each one. Out comes Neville and we have a match after the break.
Bo Dallas vs Neville
Back from break and Barrett is on commentary. We see Neville sending Bo to the outside and Bo ripping Neville off the apron and beating on him a bit before rolling him back into the ring. Two count for Bo as he locks on a grounded cravate. Neville fights back with his kick combo and ends it with a forearm. Enziguri by Neville followed by a Red Arrow to finish it.
Winner: Neville
*Barrett gets on the announce table after the match and cuts a promo on Neville. He says he doesn’t have the time to deal with peasants like Neville. He insults Neville’s entrance attire and suggest punishment at Payback and says it will be a Royal Bullhammer.
*Backstage segment with Rosa and Adam Rose. The guy in a hot dog suit wonders when he’s getting paid and Rose said he’s not getting paid. He compares the hot dog guy to The Bunny and Rosa shoves him down as the other rosebuds look on. Rosa and Adam Rose kiss as we go to break.

Kane vs Roman Reigns
Kane tries to attack Roman before he can get over the barricade and we start on the outside. They exchange strikes for a bit until Roman is thrown over the table into a hug with Jerry Lawler. Roman tries to fight back but he’s tossed into the steel steps as Kane rolls into the ring and Roman soon after and we officially begin the match. Kane goes to work in the corner before tosses Roman outside again. Roman is against the post and Kane tries to hit him with the steps but Roman moves and drives Kane head first into the post. He goes under the apron and grabs a kendo stick and beats the crap out of Kane with it. Apparently this match is No Disqualification. Kane rolls into the ring and Roman tries to follow but is thwarted by a Kane boot. Kane grabs the kendo stick and swings away at Roman’s back and mid section. Kane covers but barely gets a two count as we go to commercial.
Back from break as Roman hits a big boot in the corner on Kane but then takes a regular big boot from Kane for two. Kane throws Roman outside yet again as Kane starts to dismantle the announce table. Kane signals for a chokeslam, but Roman reverses it back jumping onto the announce table and comes off with a big clothesline as both men are down. Roman hits his apron dropkick on the announce table and that looks like it hurt Roman more than Kane. Reigns has the steps now and hits Kane in the face with them. No update on how much the stairs weigh tonight. Reigns gets a table from under the ring now and then another table before sliding into the ring. He sets up one table in the corner as Kane slides back into the ring. Roman tries to whip Kane into the table, but Kane reverses and hits a running DDT for two. Kane sets up the second table near the middle of the ring and tries to chokeslam Roman through it. Reigns fights back and goes for a Superman Punch, but he gets caught and Kane chokeslams him through the table. Somehow, Roman kicks out at two. Kane calls for the Tombstone, but Roman reverses and hits the Superman Punch and the Spear through the corner table for the three.
Winner: Roman Reigns
*We close the show with Rollins backstage saying that it’s going to take a lot more than that to take his championship. Ambrose is behind him eating some cookies and says “anybody want a cookie?” before fighting J&J and Rollins. Reigns comes in as he and Ambrose clear the set to close the show with both men staring down at the WWE Championship. Ambrose picks it up, puts it on Roman’s shoulder and says “I’ll take it on Sunday.”
