Update on TNA and Destination America

According to Pwinsider.com, here is the latest on TNA’s status with Destination America. At this time, the promotion is moving forward as if they will be on the network after the September. It had been reported (through an internal memo that circulated a month or so back) that Destination America could opt out of airing Impact in September, and that they would due to advertising issues with the show.
Destination America executives were at TNA’s tapings last week and were involved in the process of producing the TV. TNA executives will be meeting in New York this week to discuss future plans for the promotion. The company is operating under the philosophy that they have not been told they are canceled, and that things are business as usual.
The feeling is that while Destination America was looking to opt out of the deal in September, they may continue to air the show through December. ROH’s deal runs through December, so Destination America may give the new block of wrestling time to grow an audience.

TNA To Be Involved in Destination America's Fourth of July Special

Destination America announced that they are holding Fourth of July celebrations in Waveland, Mississippi and Oroville, California as part of their “Red, White and You Contest” and that TNA will be involved. Josh Mathews, Ethan Carter III, Madison Rayne, Jeremy Borash, James Storm, Chris Melendez and Taryn Terrell will each be present at one of the two events. You can see the full press release below.
Destination America Marks Fourth of July with Star-Spangled Celebrations
Destination America, part of Discovery Communications family of networks, and the only television channel dedicated to all-American entertainment, is bringing spectacular Independence Day celebrations to the two winning towns of its RED, WHITE AND YOU CONTEST – Waveland, Miss., and Oroville, Calif. The line-up of fun in each town will encompass all the elements of a quintessential patriotic party: all-American festival foods like hot dogs and ice cream; carnival activities including inflatable tee ball, a moon bounce, and face painting; a special appearance by some of the biggest names in professional wrestling; live performances by favorite local musicians; and a dazzling fireworks display to close out the night. The RED, WHITE AND YOU festivities will take place in both towns on Saturday, July 4.
“Independence Day represents the heart and soul of Destination America, and we can’t think of a better way to mark our nation’s birthday than with two very special small towns that are truly worthy of a day of fanfare and great company,” said Marc Etkind, general manager of Destination America. “We’re especially looking forward to creating an uplifting occasion for both towns by bringing Fourth of July fireworks to Waveland for the first time since before Hurricane Katrina and giving Oroville’s veteran community the patriotic celebration they deserve.”
Waveland, a town considered ground zero when Hurricane Katrina hit the Gulf Coast 10 years ago this August, will celebrate their remarkable recovery with its first Fourth of July fireworks display in a decade. Waveland and neighboring communities will come together for RED, WHITE AND YOU to kick off the 10th anniversary with an event that not only honors Waveland’s journey to rebuild, but pays tribute to the entire Gulf Coast region’s tenacious spirit. Memorable Independence Day festivities will range from carnival activities to local entertainment. In addition, Destination America will present a donation to the Where Angels Play Foundation to help fund the construction of a playground in Waveland dedicated to members of the Bane family who lost their lives during Katrina.
Oroville, nicknamed the City of Gold for its prominence during the California Gold Rush, will restore its tradition of fireworks at the nearby Oroville Dam – the tallest in the country at 770 feet high and the leading water source for the entire state of California – after drought and economic challenges have left the dam dark on Independence Day in recent years. The party will commence with family activities and local entertainment, followed by a spectacular fireworks show from a barge on Lake Oroville as residents watch from atop the Oroville Dam. Destination America will also partner with the Feather River Nature Center, a beloved nature park in Oroville, on Saturday, June 27 from 9am-1pm to organize a community cleanup of the park and offer a donation that will ensure a family-friendly place for locals visit.
Making a special appearance in both towns will be wrestlers from TNA’s IMPACT WRESTLING, which airs on Destination America Wednesday nights at 9/8c. America’s favorite wrestlers will meet-n-greet with fans, bringing together the patriotic pastimes of Independence Day and in-your-face wrestling entertainment.
IMPACT emcee Josh Mathews will host the festivities in Oroville, joined by wrestlers Ethan Carter III and Madison Rayne. In Waveland, Jeremy Borash will take his emceeing duties from the ring to the beach with wrestlers James Storm and Chris Melendez – an Army veteran for whom Independence Day has personal meaning – and Taryn Terrell, a wrestler from New Orleans with her own story of being impacted by Hurricane Katrina.
Destination America partnered with national multi-platform media outlet USA TODAY for the third-annual RED, WHITE AND YOU contest, awarding two deserving communities a one-of-a-kind Fourth of July celebration. The nationwide contest, which garnered more than 2,600 entries, asked Americans to put their patriotism on display and share moving stories of why their respective towns deserve an all-American Independence Day celebration.
RED, WHITE AND YOU’s official sponsors are Ball Park®brand and the Dairy Queen® brand, which are taking part in both grand-prize celebrations. There’s nothing more American than watching fireworks and enjoying juicy, great-tasting Ball Park® beef franks with all the toppings! Then for dessert, cool down with classic DQ® Dilly® Bars, a Dairy Queen fan favorite! Both towns will also delight in finger-licking barbecue specialties inspired by Destination America’s hit series BBQ PITMASTERS: ALL STARS, airing Thursdays at 9/8c. DIRECTV will also be on site to provide families with information on how to sign up with DIRECTV through one of their local authorized dealers.

Opinionated View- Well as we all know when you are getting rid of a show you involve them in a major event.... wait a second

Segment Cut Form ROH on Destination American

– Some noted last week that the “Inside ROH “ segment, hosted by Mandy Leon, was not a part of the Destination America version of ROH TV last week. The segment will not be part of the show going forward, simply due to a time issue. The syndicated show allows for 43-minutes of programming, while the Destination America version allows for 40-minutes of programming.

Opinionated View- On the one hand Leon is awful in her role as segment host. On the other hand Inside ROH can be a useful segment if used right and it would help new fans learn the roster and the feuds. So ROH is going to have to figure it out.

News From TNA Conferance Call

Source: TMZ
We noted before via F4Wonline.com that TNA officials said they couldn't address the Destination America reports during today's conference call with talents. However, TNA President Dixie Carter did tell the company that TNA has a good relationship with Destination America. This has also been confirmed by PWTorch.com.
Dixie added that they are planning for 2016 but would not comment on reports of Destination America having an "out clause" in September due to legal advice. Dixie did add that out clauses in TV deals are common.
The call reportedly went over 90 minutes with Dixie giving a 10 minute introduction. Talents spoke for about 30 minutes and needless to say, there were some angry talents on the call.

Opinionated View- As long as they have a TV deal I'm happy. But I'm pissed at DA I can't imagine how talent feels.

TNA Holding Talent Conferance Call

TNA is holding a conference call with talent today to address the TV situation with talent. Its being said that ROH's deal with Destination America caught TNA completely by surprise.

Opinionated View- I'll say again it's total bull shit DA is doing this. At the very least they should have let TNA know.

Discovery To Heavely Promote Impact Wrestling Move

There has been talk at TNA headquarters that Discovery, which is the parent company of Destination America, is planning to use their channels to give a big push to TNA Impact Wrestling moving to Wednesdays over the next several weeks.

Opinionated View- Once again how do you respond to this Dave? Because Dave and all his little sheep if they canceled a show they wouldn't promote a show they were cancelling.

Destination America Highlights Impact Wrestling In Press Release for Fall Lineup

(New York, N.Y.) - On the heels of its best year ever and ranking among cable's top five fastest growing networks , Destination America is taking its success on a cross-country road trip this 2015-16 upfront season in a programming slate packed with fun and all-American entertainment....
Destination America captures the best of all-American entertainment. More than four million people tuned into the first four weeks of IMPACT WRESTLING premieres earlier in 2015, leading the network to record its best January ever in Prime HH delivery. Considered one of the hottest, most action-packed entertainment events on television today, wrestling continues on Wednesday nights - featuring nonstop, in-your-face action with no filters, epic battles, and some of the biggest names in professional wrestling, including Jeff Hardy, Bobby Roode, Kurt Angle, Bobby Lashley and Gail Kim

Opinionated View- Let me guess IWC this is some type of desperate move to "save" the show. Or they are pretending they aren't cancelling it for some reason. Or maybe Dave was wrong and all the morons on the IWC refuse to face facts.

Update on TNA’s Status With Destination America

Here are the latest details on TNA’s situation with Destination America, courtesy of Pwinsider.com…
* Those within TNA were very upset with the cancellation reports going around and have denied that the network has told them anything. The same people were upset because Destination America had two representatives in Nashville all week working on creative plans with Billy Corgan, John Gaburick and the rest of the creative team. These plans reportedly are for the rest of 2015 and into early 2016.
* There was a plan yesterday to film an interview where Josh Mathews would sit down with Dixie Carter to respond to the reports. They dropped those plans and opted to release the statement that came out later in the day yesterday. The feeling is that the statement should have come from Destination America, due to fans expecting wrestling promotions to work them or not tell them the truth.

Opinionated View- Well part of me think the report of people being "Upset" would have more to do with Dave being a dumb ass. I think anyone who would use a brain would go "they are moving with a better night. They had a long meeting setting up long term plans. I don't think they are getting cancelled."

TNA Issues Statement on Cacellation Rumors

Statement from TNA Regarding IMPACT WRESTLING
It has come to our attention that several internet news sources have falsely attributed statements to TNA, its executives and broadcasting partner. These false statements constitute defamation and if necessary we will seek all legal remedies available to us.

Opinionated View- What's sad is I already see people going "TNA is lying." Pretty said people would rather believe a story with no sources or facts over the actual company. And I hope they do sue him. For far to long the wrestling media gets away with stories that are false. You don't see that with the NBA or NFL or UFC.

IMPACT WRESTLING Moving To Wednesday Nights At 9/8C On Destination America Beginning Wednesday, June 3

IMPACT WRESTLING MOVING TO WEDNESDAY NIGHTS AT 9/8C ON DESTINATION AMERICA BEGINNING WEDNESDAY, JUNE 3

Destination America’s IMPACT WRESTLING, will make a permanent move to Wednesday nights at 9/8c beginning Wednesday, June 3rd.  The mid-week knockout premiere will kick off with stellar matches showcasing America’s favorite wrestlers.

The tag teams will head to epic battles with The Wolves and the Dirty Heels competing in match three of the Best of 5 Series on their quest to capture the vacated TNA Tag Team Title, and The Rising and the BDC are at war battling it out in a six-man tag team matchup. TNA World Champion Kurt Angle will compete in the main event and the Knockouts will be in action featuring the Dollhouse and Brooke.

Tonight, IMPACT WRESTLING continues its premieres with Hardcore War at 9/8c on Destination America.

While Kurt Angle defeated Eric Young to retain the TNA World Title last week, the feud continues as Young and Angle form teams to compete in a 10-man tag match where each participant can bring a weapon of choice to the ring. Austin Aries and Bobby Roode, the Dirty Heels, will face The Wolves, and a returning Eddie Edwards, in the first of a Best of 5 Series for the TNA Tag Team Titles.  The Dollhouse, Marti Bell and Jade, take on Brooke and Rebel in tag team Knockouts action.  Ethan Carter III also continues his “EC3 for Champ” campaign and the BroMans return to find out what the future has in store for Jessie, Robbie E and DJ Z.

IMPACT WRESTLING premieres Hardcore War tonight at 9/8c with the permanent switch to Wednesday nights starting June 3rd only on Destination America!

Opinionated View- Great news for the company. They have done well on Friday's but Friday has always been a tough TV night. Wednesday is more of a stay in and watch TV night. On my side though it's tough because my Muay Thai runs up against this. But hey thank god for the DVR.

Once again though this show Dave Metzler knows Jack and Shit. Since Dave was clamming Destination America had "Buyer's Remorse" if they had buyer's remorse they wouldn't move Impact to a better night.

Former World Champion To Guest Referee TNA World Title Match

TNA has announced a former world champion will serve as special guest referee for this week's TNA World Title Match between Kurt Angle and Eric Young. This week's episode will be a live telecast on Destination American. You can read the full story here

http://www.impactwrestling.com/news/item/6415

Opinionated View- If I had to venture a guess based on the storyline it would be Austin Aries. Reading the story it seems to be implying someone who has been gone will return. Of course Aries could be returning from injury based on what Young did to him.

Report Says TNA Could Run Live Impacts in the Summer

TNA’s situation since moving to Destination America has seen them taping 6-8 weeks of TV over a 4 or 5 day period. While that is very cost effective for the company, spoilers obviously leak out and it’s a tough few days for the wrestlers and all the crew involved in making those shows happen.

As it stands at the moment, TNA will be back at the Impact Zone in Orlando sometime in both May and June, and they plan to broadcast 4 shows live during that period.

No exact dates are currently in place, but at least we will be getting some live broadcasts which will solve the spoiler issues and hopefully produce some great TV.

Opinionated View- If this winds up happening it would be great. There is just an energy that you can recapture on a taped show.

Destination America Wants Kurt Angle in Promienent TNA Role

Destination America has pushed for Kurt Angle to be put into a prominent position for TNA moving forward. The network reportedly likes the notion of an Olympic gold medalist representing their show.

Opinionated View- I have some reservations about this. Kurt's older he's easily injured and TNA has a lot of great talent. That said Kurt has looked great since coming back. He's still one of the very best in the world.

How Long is TNA's Deal With Deatination America
