WWE issues statement confirming change to WrestleMania 35 schedule

WWE issued a statement to the media on Saturday confirming some changes to events during WrestleMania 35 weekend next April.

The biggest chance is that the NXT TakeOver: New York special has been shifted to air live on Friday (April 5) from the Barclays Center, while the Hall of Fame ceremony will now take place the night before WrestleMania on Saturday.

This is a change from many years now where the NXT special would be held live on a Saturday night and the Hall of Fame special would take place on a Friday. The change also means the Hall of Fame will now go head-to-head with a joint Ring of Honor/New Japan Pro Wrestling event at Madison Square Garden instead of NXT.

The rest of the schedule will remain as usual with WrestleMania 35 taking place on Sunday (April 7) from Metlife Stadium and RAW (April 8) and Smackdown Live (April 9) tapings taking place the following Monday and Tuesday airing live from the Barclays Center. Smackdown shifting to Friday’s next October means another change in 2020.

WWE issued this statement to the media today:

“WWE will be going back to its previous WrestleMania Week schedule with NXT TakeOver on Friday, April 5 and the Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on Saturday, April 6. We believe this better serves our fans.”

Opinionated View- They moved it around due the ROH and New Japan show. They can fill the HOF just with there own people having to attend the event. ROH/NJPW already sold out MSG. WWE doesn't want TakeOver to not have a full house because they need to keep the myth of it as 3rd brand going.
