Impact Wrestling Reportedly Looking to Make Scarlett Bordeaux a Sable Like Character

According to a recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Live  plans to portray Scarlett Bordeaux as a Sable-like character in Impact Wrestling have reportedly been discussed. The company was reportedly taking a shot at WWE with Bordeaux’s debut promo as a spoof of Stephanie McMahon’s recent promos on the Women’s Evolution movement in pro-wrestling.

Opinionated View- I like this idea. Scarlett should be able to play it. And the crap Stephanie does needs to be spoofed.

WWE Hall of Famer Nikolai Volkoff Passes As Does Former WWE Star Brian Christopher

WWE Hall of Famer Nikolai Volkoff passed away on Sunday at the age of 70 after undergoing a hospital stay just days earlier for dehydration and other issues.

Volkoff is most known for his time in the WWE from the 1970s to the 1990s, winning the WWE Tag Team Titles on multiple occasions, notably with fellow Hall of Famer The Iron Sheik at the first WrestleMania in 1985.

Volkoff will go down as one of the most famous foreign villains in pro wrestling history with his Russian persona, although Volkoff (real name Josip Nikolai Peruzovi) wasn’t actually Russian and was Croatian.

Volkoff was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2005 and last appeared for WWE in a backstage vignette with Rusev and Lana in 2014, singing the Russian National Anthem as he would famously do before his matches.

Former WWE star Brian “Christopher” Lawler passed away on Sunday at the age of 46 after reportedly hanging himself while he was currently in jail for a DUI charge.
The news was confirmed by Memphis Wrestling News’s Facebook page, who issued a statement from the Lawler family and notably Brian Lawler’s father, WWE Hall of Famer Jerry “The King” Lawler.
Lawler is most known for his time in WWE in the late-1990s to the early-2000s as the Grandmaster Sexay character in the Too Cool team with Scotty 2 Hotty and Rikishi, winning the WWE Tag Team Titles in 2000.
Lawler also worked for the USWA promotion in the mid-1990s, with several major rivalries with the likes of Jeff Jarrett and others.
Lawler’s last big role for WWE was in 2011 as part of the build to the Jerry Lawler vs. Michael Cole at that year’s Wrestlemania in Atlanta, then went on to make sporadic reunion appearances with Scotty 2 Hotty and Rikishi in the years that followed.
Opinionated View-  My concordances to the families of both.

Four WWE Contracts Expire in Early 2019

– WWE’s contracts with AJ Styles, Shinsuke Nakamura, Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson’s contracts will expire early next year. Wrestling Observer Radio reports that all four stars signed three-year deals with the company when they came on board in 2016, and that Styles and Nakamura’s deals will expire in January. Anderson and Gallows’ contracts will expire a short time later; they had their last match with NJPW in February of 2016, with Anderson having confirmed he was WWE-bound that month.
The show added that NJPW has “absolute interest” in bringing Nakamura back, noting that Nakamura’s name value is much higher since he debuted with WWE. Styles said in March that he would be interested in re-signing with WWE when his contract is up, noting, “I don’t see why not if I can do what I do. Like, if I can still be AJ Styles, then I would like to keep working in the WWE in a talent form. So as long as I can keep going, then I would like to keep working there.

WWE NXT Preview

Set for tonight is Aleister Black vs. Tommaso Ciampa for the NXT Championship. Plus, the build continues for NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn IV on August 18

Updated WWE SummerSlam Card

WWE Universal Championship: Brock Lesnar (c) vs. Roman Reigns
WWE Championship: AJ Styles (c) vs. Samoa Joe
WWE Intercontinental Championship: Dolph Ziggler (c) vs. Seth Rollins
RAW Women’s Championship: Alexa Bliss (c) vs. Ronda Rousey
Smackdown Women’s Championship: Carmella (c) vs. Becky Lynch
Smackdown Tag Team Championships: The Bludgeon Brothers (c’s) vs. Winners of the new Smackdown Live Tag Team Title Tournament
* Braun Strowman vs. Kevin Owens (If Strowman loses in any way, Owens wins Strowman’s Money in the Bank briefcase)
Opinionated View- Roman vs Brock again it's sucked every other time they have done it yet WWE will keep doing it. AJ and Joe are both past there prime and this match will be an after thought. Oh god Seth vs. Dolph again what was the point of the Iron Man match if you were going to do it again? Bliss and Ronda could be good. Ronda seems to get it and doesn't seem to have some huge ego where is going "Oh I'm legit I can't..." and Bliss is awesome.
Please wrestling gods for once let the WWE be smart and just let WWE book the SD women's title as Becky beat Carmella in like 10 seconds. So it's Bludgeon Brothers vs. the bar who suck or new day who suck or the usos who suck. And poor Owens have to job to fucking Strowman again.

Ring of Honor and New Japan running Madison Square Garden during WrestleMania weekend

Ring of Honor and New Japan issued the following on Thursday, announcing that they will be running a co-branded event entitled “G-1 Supercard” on April 6 at Madison Square Garden in New York City during Wrestlemania 35 weekend.

ROH/NJPW Present “G1 Supercard” – LIVE FROM MADISON SQUARE GARDEN!

Baltimore, MD [07/12/18] – For 16 years, Ring of Honor Wrestling has created some of the top stars in professional wrestling, and for nearly 50 years, New Japan Pro-Wrestling has brought Japanese Strong Style to the world. Together, these two companies have delivered world class shows such as “War of the Worlds,” “Strong Style Evolved,” “Global Wars,” “Honor Rising,” and the “G1 Special,” which NJPW has launched as a special kickoff in the United States to their annual “G1 Climax,” known as one of the most elite tournaments in professional wrestling.

ROH and NJPW are proud to announce that on April 6th, 2019, the companies will join forces to present the ultimate wrestling event, “G1 Supercard,” to fans from around the world, LIVE from Madison Square Garden in New York City!

“Three years ago, one of our best fans told me in confidence that Supercard of Honor just didn’t feel “super” anymore, said Greg Gilleland, ROH General Manager. “He was right and we took that to heart with the huge events we delivered in Lakeland, FL in 2017, and New Orleans, LA just a few months ago. With consecutive record breaking attendances, the question became, how can we top that in 2019? More importantly, how can we give the fans more of what they want and what they deserve? The G1 Supercard is an event that can only represent the absolute best possible matches with both NJPW and ROH stars, and Madison Square Garden is the perfect venue for them.”

“This is a historic initiative for ROH and New Japan Pro-Wrestling,” Harold Meij, President of NJPW proudly commented. “This gives us a great chance to expose fans to NJPW in the building which housed so many memorable and compelling matches.”

Already confirmed for this show from NJPW are Kazuchika Okada, Hiroshi Tanahashi, and Tetsuya Naito, in addition to all of the top ROH Stars. This show is set to be massive in magnitude including many matches to be announced with championships from both companies defended. Fans will not want to miss this marquee event at a venue with such an amazing storied history of wrestling.

“We are thrilled to welcome Ring of Honor Wrestling and New Japan Pro-Wrestling to Madison Square Garden for the much anticipated G1 Supercard,” said Joel Fisher, Executive Vice President, MSG Marquee Events. “We expect April 6th to be another memorable night of wrestling at The World’s Most Famous Arena.”

ROH Chief Operating Officer Joe Koff is equally proud. “This is destined to join a long list of historical wrestling moments and where better to hold it than at Madison Square Garden. I am extremely proud of what we have been able to achieve as a company and am very appreciative of how great our relationship with New Japan Pro-Wrestling has become. However, none of this would be possible without our fans, who are truly the best in the world. Madison Square Garden would not be possible without them and for that I am most grateful.”

G1 Supercard is sure to be a historical event in New York City that promises to exceed all expectations.

Tickets will go on-sale on Wednesday, August 8th at 10:00 AM ET for HonorClub members and Friday, August 10th for the General Public.

Stay tuned to ROHWrestling.com for more information on G1 Supercard and other important Ring of Honor Wrestling news. Visit NJPW1972.com to follow your favorite NJPW wrestlers and for any other NJPW news or event information.

Ring of Honor had previously announced last month that they had a hold on a date for MSG in 2019, before coming out to say the date was pulled due to WWE’s long-time deal with Madison Square Garden. The co-promotion with New Japan now seems to have changed that opinion from Madison Square Garden.

This will be the first non-WWE wrestling event held in MSG in over 50 years. AAA also has a potential date for MSG for later this year, but have said it will more likely be in 2019.

Backstage Update on Raw Not Mentioning Brock Lesnar

    – The Wrestling Observer Newsletter (via WrestlingInc.com) this week had an update on WWE not mentioning Brock Lesnar at all this Monday on Raw. As previously reported, Brock Lesnar made an appearance at UFC 226 last Saturday, challenging new UFC heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier. Additionally, Lesnar has re-entered the USADA drug-testing pool in order to become eligible to fight again in the UFC due to his previous failed drug tests in 2016.

According to the Observer report, Vince McMahon personally made the decision not to mention Lesnar on Raw last Monday in order to focus on the build for Extreme Rules this weekend. Also, the report states that McMahon informed those backstage at a production meeting ahead of Raw that Lesnar’s name would not be mentioned during the show, and WWE could start talking about Lesnar again, “When he’s being offered to our audience and we can capitalize on it.”

Additionally, McMahon is said to be “adamant” about creating the idea that Lesnar is turning his back on WWE fans and leaving the organization for the UFC. WWE wants to push the idea that Lesnar is trying to leave without losing the WWE Universal title in the hopes that fans will support Roman Reigns when they possibly face each other again.

Opinionated View- So it sounds like Vince got pissed and than later came up with a reason.

AJ Styles vs. Shinsuke Nakamura set for Smackdown Live

WWE.com has announced WWE Champion AJ Styles will face Shinsuke Nakamura on tomorrow night’s edition of Smackdown Live from Manchester, New Hampshire.
This will be Nakamura’s first match back in the ring for WWE after he suffered a dog bite to his leg backstage at a WWE live event in Bakersfield a few weeks ago.
The Wrestling Observer/Figure Four Online reports that Nakamura was scheduled to be evaluated today by WWE staff. So it would appear he was given the green light to return to the ring after missing the last two weeks, including a tour of Japan and Taiwan.
Styles and Nakamura had been feuding since WrestleMania 34 and appeared to wrap things up at the Money in the Bank PPV last month. Styles will defend the WWE Championship against Rusev at Extreme Rules this Sunday, while Nakamura will challenge Jeff Hardy for the WWE United States Championship. Also announced for tomorrow night’s Smackdown Live from Manchester is Asuka vs. James Ellsworth in a Lumberjack match.
Opinionated View- Haven't we seen enough of those crappy matches?
