It only matters that he will beat whoever is put in front of him. Even though Nigel says it is a non-title match, he will put the title on the line. He says that he will walk out with the belt and he wants back what is his.
Nigel McGuinness is in the ring and he has an announcement about tonight’s main event. The match between Michael Elgin and Hanson will be a number one contender’s match for the Ring of Honor World Title.
Now he has to talk about Tommaso Ciampa. Nigel asks for Tommaso to come out to the ring so he can tell Tommaso what he has to tell him in front of everyone.
Ciampa makes his way to the ring and he is dressed to wrestle even though his wrestling future is in doubt due to the zero tolerance policy only he has to follow.
Tommaso wants to shake Nigel’s hand and Nigel obliges. Nigel mentions that when they came up with the zero tolerance policy, they did not come up with every contingency. At Final Battle, while you hit a referee, it was by accident. Therefore it would seem disingenuous to fire you and cost your living within this sport for something out of your control. The problem was how to explain it to the higher ups in Ring of Honor. They only heard about a zero tolerance policy and you hit a referee.
Nigel says that he showed the footage to the higher ups and he put his neck on the line. Tommaso is not fired, but the zero tolerance policy is still in effect. Nigel tells Tommaso he owes him one.
Ciampa says if it helps Nigel to sleep at night, then he owes him one. Ciampa says Jay Briscoe owes him one. Nigel says he wants to talk about what happened and what is going to happen. Nigel says Hanson had an impeccable year in 2014 and he won his match at Final Battle so he is deserving. Another person who won at Final Battle is Michael Elgin and he beat you . . .
Ciampa says that Michael Elgin did not beat Tommaso Ciampa at Final Battle, Tommaso Ciampa beat Tommaso Ciampa at Final Battle due to the zero tolerance policy. Tommaso tells Nigel that will never happen again.
Michael Elgin comes out and he calls Tommaso a liar. Michael says real men don’t make excuses and that is what you are doing in the ring. At Final Battle, you didn’t beat yourself, he beat you.
Ciampa asks Michael Elgin what does it feel like that seven months ago in this building, you won the Ring of Honor World Title and you were on top of the world. Seven months later and nobody wants you here.
Elgin tells Tommaso that as he gets into the ring, he wants to know what doesn’t fit and it is Ciampa because him and Nigel are former World Champions. It doesn’t matter what they think, it matters what you do in the ring. He has proven three times that you cannot beat Michael Elgin. If you say Michael Elgin is a shell of his former self, you still couldn’t beat him last month>
Michael says that he doesn’t see any reason why he cannot beat Ciampa, Hanson, or anyone else on the roster. He can beat both of them tonight and we can see who is the best.
Nigel says that they just made his job easy. If everyone wants it, the main event will be Tommaso Ciampa versus Michael Elgin versus Hanson.
