TNA Lockdown Viewership Sees Big Increase

Last Friday's first-run special Lockdown episode of Impact Wrestling averaged 525,000 viewers, a 22% increase from the week before, which drew 431,000 viewers.

The replay was up from last week as well, which drew 166,000 viewers, an 8% increase from last week's 153,000 viewers. Total viewers for the show on Friday was 691,000 viewers, up 18% from last week.

TNA Impact Wrestling Results (2/6) – Lockdown

TNA Tag Team Championship
The Hardys vs The Revolution (c)
The Hardys both hit corner clotheslines, then Jeff hits an elevated dropkick with an assist by Matt, then they prevent Manik from interfering with a suplex off the cage. Storm hits Matt in the corner after he handcuffs Manik to the cage, then Storm headbutts Jeff and hits Matt in the corner. After a few minutes of whipping the Hardys into the cage, we get back from a break to see Storm get a near fall but Matt breaks it up. Storm tries to escape the cage but he gets knocked down, then Jeff hits a Whisper in the Wind off the side of the cage. Both Hardys hit a Twist of Fate, then Matt goes for a moonsault but misses after Storm rolls away. Koya pulls Matt through the camera hole of the cage and attacks him, then Jeff hits a Twist of Fate on Abyss and tries to escape, but Sanada hits him with the mist and Storm superkicks him for the win.

Winners – The Revolution

The Revolution attacks Matt after the bell and puts him through a table on the floor, then they open the cage and bring another table in the ring. Manik is freed from his handcuffs, then they lay Jeff on a table but Jeff jumps back up and attacks everyone with some kicks. Jeff tries to climb the cage and kicks Sanada, then he climbs over the cage but Koya crotches him on the cage door, and Storm hits him with a cowbell, sending him crashing down onto the stairs. Storm taunts the crowd as Jeff is checked on by referees and trainers, and they load him onto a stretcher as Storm assembles on the ramp with the Revolution.

MVP comes out to the ring with Eric Young and Kenny King and talks some trash to Bobby Roode, and they try and tell Roode not to fight Eric Young tonight. MVP addresses Kurt Angle and says he has a proposition for him, then Kurt walks out with Austin Aries and Gunner and MVP runs him down. He says Kurt is broken and he talked to his doctor, so he should walk away before he gets hurt, or he will make sure he never walks again. Kurt says threats don’t mean anything, and they came to fight, so they aren’t leaving until they do that. Kurt leads his team into the ring and they attack the BDC, then Low Ki and Gunner run out and attack Gunner with a chair. They  close Gunner’s arm in the cage and smash it with a chair, then they clear the ring and leave Kurt and Aries to check on Gunner.

Havok vs Awesome Kong 
Havok rushes Kong on the ramp and hits him several times, then she tears the padding off the floor and tries to suplex Kong on the floor. Kong breaks it and slams Havok into the steps, then they slug it out in the ring and Kong tries to hit an Implant Buster, but Havok breaks it and throws a few elbows. Kong comes back with a chokeslam, then Havok tries to hit her but Kong shoves her off the ropes and splashes her for the win.
Winner – Awesome Kong

We see footage from two weeks ago where Velvet Sky tells Angelina Love that she got fired, and Angelina hugs her but secretly smiles. Angelina helps Velvet with her bags, and she tries to hold back her excitement and hugs Velvet before leaving her and saying ‘finally…”

Bobby Roode vs Eric Young 
Roode screams at Eric and slams him into the cage a few times, then Eric elbows him before Roode connects with a clothesline. Eric whips him headfirst into the cage and follows with a belly-to-belly suplex for two, then he applies a chinlock before Roode breaks with some elbows. He runs at Eric and gets caught with a powerslam for two, then Eric calls for some help and MVP makes his way out with a chair. MVP throws it in the ring and Eric swings it, but Roode ducks before he hits Eric and busts him open on the cage. Roode sets up for a superplex, but Eric slams his head off the cage and hits an elbow drop for two. Roode comes back with a slam, then he hits Eric with the chair, and Eric begs him to stop but Roode calls him a son of a bitch and hits a Roode Bomb on the chair for the win.
Winner – Bobby Roode

Rockstar Spud & Mark Andrews vs Tyrus (w/ Ethan Carter III)
Spud and Mark rush Tyrus at the bell, but Tyrus knocks them both down and slams Spud on the mat. He splashes Mark in the corner, then he goes for a powerbomb but Spud kicks him in the face a few times and tries to climb out. Spud turns and hits Tyrus with a front flip legdrop, then Ethan taunts Mark and opens the cage door. Mark tries to kick him but Ethan grabs his legs and slams his head on the cage, then he pulls him outside and slams him on the mat. Spud tries to crawl to the door, but Ethan slams it in his face, and Tyrus slams him down for the win. Ethan tries to plug in some clippers and shave Spud’s head, but Jeremy Borash cuts the clipper cord in half and runs for it.

Lethal LockdownBeat Down Clan vs Team Angle 
Gunner whips King into the cage and chokes him with a night stick, then Low Ki enters and Gunner slams him into the cage. King hits Gunner in the back with a trash can lid, then they choke him and attack him in the corner before Aries makes his entrance. Aries whips Ki into the cage and dropkicks him into the cage, then Gunner slams King on the mat and Aries grabs the night stick. Aries hits King as Gunner chokes Ki in the corner, then Joe enters and BDC gains the advantage. Joe takes a few swings before Kurt enters and and tees off on a few BDC members as we go to a break, then we get back to see Joe hit Gunner in the face with a kendo stick. King puts a trash can on Aries and enziguiris him, then Bobby Lashley shows up and calls for MVP and King to lower their weapons. They shake hands but Lashley ends up clotheslining MVP, then he drops Joe and slams King into the cage. MVP tackles Lashley after King chops his leg, then MVP chokes him and taunts Lashley in the corner. Joe tries to hit Kurt with a Muscle Buster but Kurt counters with an Angle Slam, then Gunner but King in a Torture Rack as Lashley comes back with a spear for the win.

Update on Jeff Hardy Nasty Bump From TNA Lockdown Spoillers

On Saturday described Jeff Hardy's nasty bump on Friday night as "unplanned" during the 1/9 Impact Wrestling "Lockdown" special taping in New York City. As suspected, it turns out the bump was indeed planned and wasn't an accident as it was a way for TNA to write Hardy off TNA television for the time being as he is unable to be part of the upcoming UK tour. Hardy's 2009 drug conviction prevents him from entering the UK.

TNA Impact Wrestling Spoilers For 2/6 Lockdown

JB announces Eric Young vs. Bobby Roode for tonight. Awesome Kong will also be in action.
* Rockstar Spud and Mark Andrews vs. Tyrus is up first. Ethan Carter III is at ringside. EC3 suckers Andrews out of the cage at one point and Andrews actually slipped getting out. It looked painful. EC3 hits Spud with the cage door, allowing Tyrus to hit his finisher for the win. EC3 goes to shave Spud’s head but Jeremy Borash makes the save by cutting the cord. EC3 charges JB but JB runs away.
* Havok vs. Awesome Kong is next. They start brawling on the ramp and around the ring. They go back in the cage and Earl Hebner accidentally gets knocked down by the door as Kong closes it. Kong no sells a chokeslam and hits Havok with one of her own. Kong wins after a splash from the top.
* The Hardys vs. James Storm and Abyss for the Tag Team Titles is next. The only way to win is pinfall or submission. Manik comes down and climbs over the cage. Matt Hardy pulls him over and Manik gets handcuffed to the cage. Storm climbed on top of Abyss at one point and jumped down with an elbow drop on Matt. Hardy got out of the cage somehow later on and was attacked by The Revolution. Jeff Hardy went for a splash off the top but got hit by mist from Sanada. Storm hit his finisher to retain. Koya slams Matt through a table. They put Jeff on a table in the ring for Manik to put him through but Manik misses. Jeff tries to escape the cage but ends up taking a nasty bump off the door onto the steel stairs. Storm assaults Jeff some more before they leave. Storm runs back out and hits Jeff on the ramp as referees are helping him to the back.
* MVP, Kenny King and Eric Young are out next. MVP says it’s going to be a bad time for anyone getting in the way of The BDC. MVP calls Kurt Angle out and he brings Austin Aries and Gunner with him. MVP rips their team and say they don’t want the match. MVP tells Angle to walk away or never wrestle again. Angle says they came to NYC to kick ass and they rush the ring. There is no match as Gunner gets trapped outside of the cage and attacked by Samoa Joe and Low Ki. They put his arm in the cage door and slam it with a chair. Security comes out as The BDC retreats.
* Robbie E calls Brooke Tessmacher to the ring and blames her for losing The Amazing Race. He challenges her to a race and he accepts. The race involves them spinning around with a baseball bat, running to the cage, climbing into it, back over it and back up the ramp. The judges are Jessie Godderz and DJ Zema Ion, who get involved and try to stop Brooke from leaving the cage. Robbie ends up pushing Brooke off the ramp. He poses before crossing the finish line. Brooke comes back and hits him with a low blow. She then crotches him with the bat. Brooke crosses over the line and wins. She goes back and takes a selfie with Robbie.
* Eric Young vs. Bobby Roode is next. EY ended up calling MVP to the cage, he slid a steel chair in. EY missed the chair shot and Roode sends him into the cage, causing EY to bleed. Roode unloads on EY and then hits him with chair shots. Roode wins clean with his finisher.
* Team Angle vs. The BDC in Lethal Lockdown is next. Team Angle is short a man as Lashley didn’t want to team. The match starts with Gunner vs. Kenny King. Low Ki comes in next and they double team Gunner with weapons. Austin Aries comes in next and unloads on the heels. Samoa Joe is next in. He takes out Aries and Gunner with trash can lids. Joe grabs a hockey stick and uses it on Aries. Kurt Angle is out next. Joe meets him with a hockey stick but Angle gets the upperhand. Low Ki hits a double stomp on Aries. MVP is out next. He beats on Aries and Gunner with a kendo stick. Angle hits a German on MVP. Joe hits Angle with a trash can lid. Lashley ends up coming out any way to make things even. MVP tries to attack him but Lashley wants to shake hands. MVP falls for it and Lashley cleans house. Angle had Joe in the Angle lock while Gunner had King in the rack but Aries won with a pin. Lashley unloads again and sends The BDC retreating. Aries grabs his briefcase and heads back in the ring to face off with Lashley. Angle gets in between and says not now. This ends the show.

Tonight's TNA Lockdown Taping Sold Out

Tonight's 1/9 "Lockdown" Impact Wrestling TV taping at the Manhattan Center in New York City is said to be sold out. However, it is said that some tickets once the production is setup inside the building for tonight's tapings may become available at the Manhattan Center box office prior to the start of the tapings.

TNA Lockdown To Air on Free TV Instead of PPV

Lockdown, TNA's annual all steel-cage themed PPV event dating back to 2005, will instead be broadcast as a special on Destination America in 2015. The event will be taped on 1/9 in New York City at the Manhattan Center next week.
Also announced for the 1/8 taping is The Hardys vs. The Wolves.

Opinionated View- Well I am hopeful this still means there will be a PPV in April of some kind and I don't mean a 1 night only a 3 hour feature. Look I've been a fan of TNA's booking and feel they were in a great place when they left Spike so I'm excited to see the build to Lockdown.

Backstage TNA News and Notes From Lockdown

- TNA will be taping Impact Wrestling episodes this Thursday, Friday and Saturday at Universal Studios in Orlando, FL.

- Bobby Lashley's TNA return was kept quiet, and only a small circle of people knew about the angle. At this time, he is figured into the company's plans going forward, but it has not been confirmed if he signed a deal with the company. 

- Tommy Dreamer was at Lockdown working as an agent.

- Abyss spent hours waiting under the ring at Lockdown to do his angle in the world title match.

TNA Lockdown 2014 Results

We are live and we see a shot of TNA Champion Magnus arriving to the arena and his challenger Samoa Joe arriving as well.

A graphic opening hits welcoming us to Lockdown. We go live to the BankUnited Center. Doesn't appear to be commentary at the moment. Out first is Bad Influence (Christopher Daniels and Kazarian) to kick off the show.

Steel Cage - Six Man Tag Team Match
Christopher Daniels, Kazarian and Chris Sabin vs. The Great Muta, TNA X Division Champion Sanada and Yasu (Nakanoue)

We start with Chris Sabin and Sanada. Sanada with an abdominal stretch and then rolls around with Sabin. Sanada with a quick arm drag and Sabin recovers pushing him to the corner with some shoulder charges. Tags to Kazarian and Yasu. They both attempt shoulder blocks. Kazarian with a big elbow that drops Yasu. Yasu with a big hip toss and tags in The Great Muta. Muta with a big elbow drop on Kazarian. Daniels breaks up a submission and takes a dropkick from Muta. Muta sprays the green mist. Tag to Yasu who drops an elbow over Kazarian. Triple team on Yasu with Daniels getting the tag and keeping him grounded. Sabin gets the tag, holds Yasu down and Kazarian tags himself in dropping a leg. Kazarian and Daniels with repeated moonsaults over Yasu resulting in a two count. Yasu with elbows to Daniels, Kazarian and Sabin. Daniels breaks it up, tags in Sabin and all three triple team Yasu again for another two count. Tag to Sanada who takes out Daniels with a big huricanrana. Sanada busts out two big dropkicks and then a big cutter on Daniels for a two count. More triple teaming by Daniels, Kazarian and Sabin on Sanada. Muta with a submission on Daniels. Muta with a mist to Kazarian. Sanada with a moonsault on Daniels for the win.

Rockstar Spud is out next. He introduces TNA President Dixie Carter. Dixie said she has a little insurance policy from New York to make sure her team wins tonight. She warns Jeff Hardy that he won't be allowed to compete tonight and has security at all entrances to keep him out.

Backstage, Jeremy Borash is with Velvet Sky who is taking fan questions tonight. Eric Young talks Team MVP vs. Team Dixie. He said everything changes after this match tonight.

Steel Cage Match
Mr. Anderson vs. Samuel Shaw

Before the match, Samuel Shaw walks around the ringside area and is looking for Christy Hemme. He grabs a mic and climbs to the top of the cage yelling, "Christy where are you? Somebody's not keeping it professional. If Christy Hemme doesn't get out here right now, I'm going to professionally end it all," says Shaw. Shaw starts to stand up on top of the cage when Mr. Anderson's music hits to cut him off. Anderson introduces himself on his microphone and says the cage isn't high enough for Shaw anyway. He calls Shaw a creepy bastard and the crowd in Miami chants along.

Mike Tenay and Taz note the winner must escape the cage in order to win.

Anderson with a clothesline on Shaw early. We see a shot of Christy Hemme walking down to the ringside area. Anderson with right hands to Shaw. Shaw catches Anderson with a boot in the corner. Shaw blocks a Mic Check attempt. Anderson responds with a gutwrench powerbomb. Shaw gets up on the top turnbuckle and tries to escape when Anderson cuts him off. Shaw with big right hands and sends Anderson face first into the cage. Shaw knocks Anderson off the top turnbuckle to the mat below. Shaw continues to climb and Anderson is able to cut him off again. Anderson sends Shaw face first into the cage. Anderson grabs Shaw and connects with a back suplex off the top turnbuckle to the ring below. Shaw wants the cage door opened. He spots Christy at ringside. Referee Earl Hebner goes to open it up when Anderson sends Shaw into the door. Hebner goes flying to the floor. Anderson with a Mic Check on Shaw. Anderson with a second Mic Check on Shaw face first into the second turnbuckle. Anderson calls Shaw a "freaking weirdo" and starts climbing up the cage. Christy is cheering him on at ringside.

Shaw grabs Christy through a hole in the cage for the cameras. Anderson hits the floor. The referee is still out and can't declare him the winner. Shaw pulls Christy in the cage. Anderson grabs the cage door key and starts to open the lock. Christy slaps Shaw. Anderson is in and drops Shaw with right hands. Anderson helps Christy out of the cage. Shaw with a low blow on Anderson. Shaw applies a standing choke on Anderson. Anderson tries to fight out, but falls to his knees and is out. Shaw exits the cage with referee Earl Hebner back up.

Winner: Samuel Shaw

After the match, Christy Hemme heads to the back. Hebner raises Samuel Shaw's arm.

Backstage, Bobby Roode is talking with TNA Tag Team Champions The BroMans. Austin Aries walks up and is concerned about this "insurance policy" Dixie Carter was talking about. Roode said he takes the 10% stake in TNA if they win. They all argue. Roode says he is the captain and he gets to decide.

Footage is shown of Ethan Carter III attacking Kurt Angle preventing him from wrestling tonight at Lockdown. Angle was originally scheduled to face EC3.

Ethan Carter III is out next. He talks about the accomplishments of Kurt Angle calling him one of the greatest wrestlers of all time. Carter adds that he is as well saying, "I am wrestling! I am wrestling!" He finds it odd that Angle scheduled surgery before Lockdown tonight and how he was deprived of his dream match. Carter promotes his open challenge tonight.

Former WWE star Bobby Lashley answers the challenge. EC3 screams on the mic that he isn't part of the roster. He said he knows for a fact that Lashley doesn't have a contract with TNA. Carter tells Lashley to leave. Carter goes for a right hand, Lashley ducks and connects with a big running powerslam on Carter. Lashley takes out Carter with a big spear.

Tenay and Taz wonder if Lashley is officially back with TNA. Lashley walks around the ringside area slapping hands with fans.

Manik vs. Tigre Uno

Both attempt dropkicks at the same time early on. Uno is able to catch Manik next with a dropkick. Manik with a snap head scissors from a head stand in the corner on Uno. Uno catches Manik with a big moonsault from the top rope for a two count. Manik dropkicks Uno into the side of the cage opening the door to the cage. The referee quickly closes it. Manik is sent into the ropes, hangs from them, Uno charges, Manik moves and Uno crashes into the side of the cage. Manik with a suplex into a back suplex on Uno. Manik applies a surfboard submission on Uno. Manik with some quick uppercuts on Uno. Manik with a backbreaker on Uno. Uno with a snap huricanrana off all three ropes. Manik catches Uno with a big boot. Uno fires back with a quick DDT. Manik with a big sitdown powerbomb on Uno for a two count. Uno with a high cradle facebuster on Manik. Uno with a twisting splash from the top turnbuckle and connects on Manik for the win.

James Storm vs. Gunner

James Storm and Gunner started brawling right away as Gunner made his entrance. Storm busts a beer bottle over the head of Gunner at ringside. Gunner with a suplex on Storm to the floor around the ring. Gunner sends Storm shoulder first into the steel ring steps at ringside. Gunner grabs two steel chairs and gets in a right on Storm. Storm sends Gunner face first into the steel steps. Gunner responds with right hands. Storm shuts the door on Gunner. Storm opens the door, enters the ring and the match officially starts.

Storm is yelling at the referee to start the 10 count. Gunner is up around 4. Gunner catches Storm with an elbow. Storm catches Gunner with a quick DDT from the second turnbuckle and then starts choking him with the tag rope from the corner. Storm starts choking Gunner again with the rope. Storm with a low blow on Gunner. Storm starts laughing. Gunner with a quick chop to Storm. Storm tosses Gunner face first into the corner and Gunner gets fired up. Gunner with a knee to the gut of Storm in the corner. Gunner catches Storm with a high knee, but Storm cuts him off with a knee and knee to the face. Gunner grabs a piece bottom piece of the steel steps that was tossed in earlier and Gunner catches Storm in the face with it. The referee starts the count. Storm is up at 8. Gunner with rights yelling at Storm to stay down. Gunner blocks a Last Call, but Storm catches him with double knees to the face and then sends Gunner face first into the corner where a steel chair was. The referee starts the count. Gunner is up at 9. Storm with elbows and cracks a steel chair over the back of Gunner. The referee counts. Gunner is up at 5. Gunner catches Storm with a quick spear/tackle. Gunner with a modified F5 on Storm. Referee starts the count.

Storm is up around 8. Gunner steps on his hand and plants him with a modified chokeslam. Referee again starts the count. Gunner is going up to the top turnbuckle as the referee is counting. Gunner jumps attempting a flying headbutt when Storm tosses a steel chair in his face. Gunner is out. The referee starts the count on Gunner as Storm gets to his feet. Gunner is up at 9 right as Storm cracks a steel chair over his back. Storm yells at the referee to count. Storm sets up two steel chairs facing each other. Gunner is up around 6 when Storm looks to be hitting a powerbomb. Gunner counters and takes a forearm to the back from Storm. Gunner with an elbow and Storm with a big uppercut to Gunner who is now sitting on the top turnbuckle. Storm jumps up with him, grabs Gunner by the head, pushes Gunner back first into the cage, Gunner sends Storm face first into the cage two times and Gunner now with headbutts to Storm. Gunner looks over his shoulder at the steel chairs below. Gunner with a superplex on Storm over the two steel chairs! The referee starts the count. Gunner is up at 9. Storm is trying to fight up and can't answer the count.

Winner: Gunner

After the match, we see highlights leading to the finish. Back live, Gunner celebrates his win.

We see footage from earlier tonight of Dixie Carter wanting to keep Jeff Hardy out tonight.

Backstage, The Wolves are fired up for tonight. MVP walks up trying to calm them down saying they need to be very careful tonight. He said they have a plan and need to stick to it. MVP wants them to be in control tonight and not to make any mistakes.

Gail Kim with right hands and Madison Rayne responds with a few elbows early on. Kim with forearm shots to the back. Rayne catches Kim with another elbow in the corner and gets a close two count. Rayne with uppercuts, Kim fakes her out with a cross body and starts climbing up the cage. Rayne jumps up to cut her off. Kim has Rayne on her shoulders. Rayne locks the head of Kim and drives her head into the side of the cage. Rayne misses a flying cross body to Kim back in the ring when Kim moves. Kim tosses Rayne back first into the steel cage, pulls her up to the second rope and then drives her down face first into the mat for a two count. Kim with forearm shots to the back. Kim catches Rayne with a running corner clothesline. Kim with a backbreaker on Rayne. Rayne catches Kim with kicks to the face. Kim fires back in with a kick to the head. Kim charges at Rayne in the corner, Rayne moves and Kim hits the side of the cage really hard. That looked nasty. Rayne misses a boot to Kim when Kim goes up top. Kim continues climbing up the side of the cage. Kim hooks the head of Rayne and they go flying off the top rope to the ring below with Kim connecting with a neckbreaker on Rayne. Rayne somehow gets a shoulder up after two when Kim covers her.

Kim is trying to crawl out of the cage with Tapa opening the cage door. Kim is able to toss Rayne face first into the steel cage when Kim drops down being sent into the ropes by Rayne. Kim is now climbing up the cage on the other side and Rayne is right behind her. Kim is looking to hit Eat Defeat on Rayne. Rayne counters and drops Kim off the top rope. Rayne kicks Tapa off the side of the cage who jumped on from the outside. Rayne is now near the corner on the top turnbuckle and catches Kim with a big spear. Rayne gets the win.

Winner and still TNA Knockouts Champion: Madison Rayne

Backstage, Samoa Joe calls Magnus a paper champion and tonight he reclaims his title.

Magnus (c) vs. Samoa Joe

Jeremy Borash handled the ring introductions for the champion Magnus and challenger Samoa Joe. The match will consist under "Joe Rules" aka no holds barred where you can only win the match by pinfall, knockout or submission.

The bell rings and here we go. Samoa Joe with a quick kick to the leg of Magnus. Joe with more kicks and Magnus responds with some rights and a headlock takedown. Joe works over the left arm/wrist of Magnus. Joe with headbutts to the wrist of Magnus. Magnus gets another headlock applied on Joe slowing things down. Joe breaks free and catches Magnus with an elbow. Joe with big jabs to and more strikes to Magnus in the corner. Joe with a running boot to the face of Magnus down in the corner. Joe with jabs, atomic drop, big boot and misses a back splash attempt over Magnus when Magnus moves. Magnus mounts Joe and drops some rights. Magnus with chops to Joe in the corner. Joe with more jabs backing Magnus to the corner. Joe misses a shot on Magnus in the corner. Magnus drops a quick elbow to the lower back of Joe. Joe fires back sending Magnus face first into the side of the cage. Joe does this a second time. Joe grabs Magnus' head and sends it into the cage 10 times as the crowd in Miami chants along. Joe with an elbow and kick to the back of the head on Magnus against the cage. Magnus is now busted open as we see a shot of him smiling. Joe with big right hands to Magnus in the corner over the cut. Joe bites the head of Magnus with the blood on his face.

Joe with a snapmare, chop, kick and knee drop over Magnus. Magnus dodges another charge from Joe and Joe hits the cage with force. Magnus then grabs Joe and sends him face first into the side of the cage. Joe is now busted open. Magnus gets the Figure Four applied on Joe. Joe gets the Figure Four turned over on Magnus. Magnus with a drop toe hold and then gets a Camel Clutch applied on Joe. Joe with a big overhead belly to belly suplex on Magnus. Both men are down as the referee starts the count. Magnus catches Joe with a big boot. Joe with an atomic drop, big boot and back splash combo all connects. Magnus rakes the eyes of Joe. Joe immediately responds with a powerslam. Joe gets an armbar applied on Magnus. Magnus gets his foot on the bottom rope to break the submission. Magnus catches Joe with a flying elbow off the top turnbuckle. Magnus with rights. Joe is firing himself up. Joe with huge open hand slaps to Magnus. Joe puts Magnus up on the top turnbuckle, busts out a huge chop, Magnus is trying to climb out of the cage, Joe is hanging on and crotches Magnus on the top turnbuckle. Joe has Magnus up for the Muscle Buster and connects. Joe picks up Magnus and gets the rear naked choke applied. A hand pops up from the ring and breaks it up.

The arm grabs Samoa Joe and pulls him down under the ring. A lifeless Magnus is rolling around trying to recover. The crowd in Miami starts a loud "BULLSH*T" chant. We can seen an open hole in the ring map as Magnus crawls over to it. Joe starts to crawl out of the hole as Magnus backs up. We can see Joe kicking whoever is below the ring. Joe walks over to Magnus and chokes him lifting him to the top turnbuckle. Abyss then shows up with his board covered in spikes. Abyss hits Joe in the gut with it and tosses it aside. Abyss with a Black Hole Slam on Joe. Magnus looks at Abyss and starts to smile. Abyss nods his head. Magnus picks up a lifeless Joe, applies the rear naked choke, the referee raises the arm of Joe three times and Joe is out. Magnus gets the win.

After the match, we see highlights leading to the finish. Back live, we see Magnus holding up the TNA Championship and celebrating with Abyss.

Backstage, we can see Eric Young yelling at Magnus and Abyss.

Backstage, Dixie Carter is with Rockstar Spud talking with someone. He calls her brilliant and Carter is sending Spud to get her big surprise tonight. Bobby Roode walks in and wants to know what the big secret is tonight. He feels he needs to know as the captain. Carter said certain things are better left unsaid. She wants Roode to trust her. Roode said she doesn't have the best track record. Carter said she already made this a handicap match tonight keeping Jeff Hardy out of it.

Lethal Lockdown - Steel Cage Match
Team MVP (MVP, Willow, Davey Richards and Eddie Edwards) vs. Team Dixie (Bobby Roode, Austin Aries and The BroMans)

Austin Aries (Team Dixie) and MVP (Team MVP) are out first to start the match. Aries with a quick bulldog on MVP and then floats over into a submission. Aries takes a break sitting on top of the top turnbuckle. MVP dodges a missile dropkick and connects with a T-Bone suplex on Aries. MVP with a cross chop, knee to the face and Aries recovers with a big elbow to the face. Aries eats a boot from MVP when he charges in. MVP with a running knee to the face on Aries in the corner. MVP with a scoop slam on Aries and drops a knee. MVP with big forearms across the face of Aries from a mounting position. Aries with a big dropkick to the face of MVP.

Time expires. Out next is Robbie E (Team Dixie). Robbie eats a big boot from MVP right away. Robbie and Aries begin the double team on MVP. Aries with a flying elbow to the back of MVP and Robbie follows with a knee drop from the second rope. Robbie starts to choke MVP with his boot in the corner. Aries jumps in and also starts to choke MVP with his boot as well.

Time expires. Out next is Eddie Edwards (Team MVP). Edwards with shots on Aries and Robbie. Edwards with big jabs and chops to Robbie in the corner. Edwards a huge flipping facebuster on Aries. Edwards sends Robbie into DJ Z (Zema Ion) who was climbing up the side of the cage. We see a shot of MVP choking Aries with his boot in the corner. Edwards with an elbow to Robbie. MVP and Edwards both launch Aries to the corner and Aries bounces off with force. They do the same to Robbie E in the other corner.

Time expires. Out next is Jessie Godderz (Team Dixie). MVP with a huge hip toss on Jessie right away. Jessie fires back with a big elbow to Edwards. The BroMans double team Edwards driving him down to the mat face first. More shots to Edwards in the corner by The BroMans including double knees from the ring apron area against the steel cage. Jessie with big kicks to Edwards in the corner including a big right hand. Jessie starts to choke Edwards with his boot. Aries chops the head of MVP.

Time expires. Out next is Davey Richards (Team MVP). Richards with a dropkick to Robbie E who pulls Jessie down with him in a DDT combo by accident. Edwards with a drop toe hold to Robbie and Richards follows it up with a kick to the face. MVP with shots to Aries in the corner. The Wolves double team Aries with MVP looking on setting it up. Jessie with shots to Edwards in the corner. The Wolves get single leg Boston Crab submissions applied on The BroMans. Aries breaks it up.

Time expires. Out next is Bobby Roode (Team Dixie). Roode and MVP get nose to nose and start to exchange shots. Roode plants MVP with a big spinebuster. Roode with a spinebuster to Edwards. Roode with a spinebuster to Richards. Roode yells, "My company!" Roode removes the wraps around the shoulder of Richards and kicks the shoulder of Richards in the corner. Crowd is chanting for Jeff Hardy who Dixie Carter said she would be keeping out of the match tonight. Time still counts down.

Time expires. Willow's music hits (Team Dixie). The arena goes black. When the lights return, we can see Willow standing on top of the steel cage and he jumps off taking out Team Dixie! Willow pokes his head through the opening in the cage as the Lethal Lockdown ceiling begins to lower with weapons attached. The ceiling lowers and Dixie Carter's music hits. She would like to introduce the special guest referee for tonight's main event. Bully Ray comes out. He was the insurance policy that Dixie was talking about earlier in the night.

Bully Ray opens the cage door and exchanges words with MVP. Ray pulls out a table as we see brawling in the ring with weapons. Roode hits Willow over the chest with a steel chair. We see a shot of Rockstar Spud setting up a chair for Dixie Carter to sit on from the top of the entrance ramp. Aries hits Edwards with a garbage can lid. He also gets in a shot on the bad shoulder of Richards. The BroMans hold up the lid and Aries dropkicks the lid into the bad shoulder of Richards. Roode gets a Crossface applied on Richards. Team MVP breaks up the Crossface. Willow tosses Aries face first into the side of the cage. Roode has a hockey stick and hits Willow with it. Edwards catches Jessie with a big boot and gets Robbie in a tree of woe in the corner. Richards with a kick to the chest of Jessie. The Wolves put a trash can over Jessie against Robbie in the tree of woe. The Wolves climb to opposite sides of the ring, jump at the same time and connect with a double dropkick (coast to coast) on The BroMans! Richards with big kicks to the chest of Aries. Aries with a Brainbuster on Richards over a steel chair! Aries misses a 450 and hits a trash can instead. Willow with a Twist of Fate on Aries. Willow goes up top and connects with a Swanton over Aries. Roode breaks up the pinfall and sends Willow crashing into the cage. Roode has MVP up on his shoulders when Bully Ray gets in his face. Roode drops MVP and argues with Ray. Ray with a Rock Bottom planting Roode in the middle of the ring. Dixie and Spud are upset. MVP kicks Roode in the face, covers and gets the pinfall.

Winners: Team MVP

After the match, MVP and Bully Ray have a stare down. Ray holds up the arm of MVP. Team MVP celebrates the win. We see a shot of an upset Dixie Carter and Rockstar Spud at the top of the entrance area. MVP continues to celebrate at ringside as he walks up the ramp. He gets in Dixie's face doing the throat cut motion. Dixie walks down the ramp and starts yelling at Bully Ray. Carter yells, "I own your ass!" Tenay and Taz talk about the ultimate double cross by Bully Ray tonight.

Bully Ray then grabs Bobby Roode, kicks him in the gut and powerbombs him through the table in the ring. The PPV goes off the air with Ray looking out to the crowd in Miami as Mike Tenay adds, "It's a new day in TNA!"

Kurt Angle Pulled From TNA Lockdown

The following was issued on Impactwrestling.com today:

"TNA Wrestling officials have been informed that Kurt Angle has a torn MCL in his knee as a result of the attack by Ethan Carter on Thursday on IMPACT. Angle is scheduled to undergo surgery to repair his MCL today (Friday). As a result of this unfortunate injury, Kurt Angle will be unable to compete at Sunday's Lockdown Pay-Per-View event against EC3. Stay tuned to ImpactWrestling.com for more updates on Kurt Angle."

Opinionated View- Well it had been known Kurt needed surgery for a while and was putting it off. I wonder if he did something to aggravate it or he just could't put it off anymore as the pain got to bad. We will see what TNA does now with EC3.

TNA Lockdown 2014 Preview

Its time for one of the bigger TNA events all year Lockdown. This year the event is back to its roots as an all steel cage match event. Now since TNA's last major PPV the company has undergone some major changes. Some talents have left and new ones have debuted others have found new life. We have spent months building up the reign off Magnus and the reign of terror by Dixie Carter. And the team of Gunner and James Storm has fallen apart. Lets take a took at this card and debate if it's worth the money. Quick note there will be spoilers for this upcoming week's Impact Wrestling so stop reading if you don't want spoiled. 

TNA World Heavyweight Championship Magnus © vs Samoa Joe- Magnus has become the heel champion. He turned his back on the fans joined up with Dixie won the world title. Every time he has defend the world title it's been outside interference from various heels to keep it and both AJ Styles and Sting lost there TNA careers because of it. Joe a man that was stable mates with Magnus in the Main Event Mafia has been on the victims of the attacks. He also been willing to stand up and face down Dixie Land. He beat Magnus cleanly in a tag match. I think this match has great potential one these two have had some very good matches in the past. Also the cage match stipulation fits perfectly given every one of Magnus title matches has involved outside interference. Magnus has really come into his own over the years and he makes a great champion. Joe has found that fire that he needs to be great you get the sense of his renewed push and the need for a locker room leader has motivated him. My pick for a winner is kind of hard it kind of depends. See I cold see TNA trying to send the fans home happy so if this main events I could see Joe winning if its a Semi Main Event I cold see Magnus winning.

Lethal Lockdown For Control of TNA if Team Dixie wins Bobby Roode and Austin Aries each get 5% of the company Team Dixie Bobby Roode, Austin Aries, Jessie, and Robbie vs Team MVP MVP, Davey Richards, Eddie Edwards, and Jeff Hardy- Since Dixie Carter has turned heel she has made life heel for all the faces. MVP came in as an investor its the story of a one of the boys getting power and now wanting to make things better for the boys. Roode l wanted to quit in storyline after not getting his promised title shot but agreed to come back after Dixie promised his 10% and Aries cut a deal to get 5% for himself. The Wolves beat the BroMans for the TNA tag titles.Than the BroMans regained them. Hardy was driven off by Dixie's actions and is make his return now. There is so much talent in this match there is almost no chance it could be bad. We are going to see some blood. There is a chance Jeff Hardy won't' show up instead we might get Willow. I do expect an awful lot of blood and some big spots. My pick for a winner I think team VMP wins because they are getting ready to end Dixie being in charge. 

James Storm vs Gunner- These two teamed together and held the tag team titles. Gunner won a world title shot in the feast or fired match but to it he took it from Storm. It was one of those cases where neither guy was in the wrong Storm was Gunner's parter but it was a match where it was everyone man for themselves. They appeared to patch things up but when Gunner caused in his feast or fired case for a world title shot Storm cost him the match. This match has so much potential you got two old school throws back style wresters. Now TNA spent a few months building to the feud so I don't think this will be a one and one feud so I predict Storm some how stealing a win and the feud keeps on going. I also think this could wind up being match of the night.

Kurt Angle vs Ethan Carter The Third- Its the legend one of the all time best vs the young upstart. EC3 attacked Kurt a few weeks ago on Impact. There have been a lot of rumors about if Kurt is leaving TNA and going back to the WWE. EC3 has really impressed me he came into TNA got a major push and has shown he can hang with the top guys. He's still got his winning streak going on but in a lot of ways this will be the biggest match of his career. Now Kurt is said to be hurt and in need of surgery and if he is leaving this well could be his write off. This should be a good match Kurt is always looking to steal the show and will push himself even hurt. EC3 needs to rise to the occasion here but expect EC3 to get the win.

Knockouts Championship Madison Rayne © vs Gail Kim- These two were allies and tag parters. Madison returned to TNA late last year as a face. Madison won the Knockouts title during Genesis special. A few weeks ago Gail won a non title street fight. I can't wait to see this match. Gail been in a number of cage matches over years hell it was even her match with Jackie Moore that kicked off the Knockouts Division. We know Gail can fly and wold be willing to go off the top of the cage. Madison has never lacked in the ring either. I think Gail regains the championship here maybe after Lady Tapi somehow gets involved.

Mr. Anderson vs Samuel Shaw- Shaw re-debuted a few months ago with a complete overhall of his gimmick, look, and wrestling style. He started a storyline with Christy Hemme where he became obsessed with her. He jumped Anderson when he saw Anderson and Hemme talking backstage. Now the real issue that might hurt this match is Shaw hasn't had many matches on TV so how will he do in a longer match. Also Anderson had been feuding with Bully Ray we have only had a few segments to build this match up. Anderson can have a very good match and he should be able to cover for any issues Shaw might have. Plus Shaw has a great gimmick. Winner I saw Anderson but a post match attack by Shaw. 

Bad Influence and Chris Sabin vs The Great Muta, Sanada, and Tigre Uno- This match is all about promoting the upcoming TNA Outbreak One Night Only Show. And debuting Tigre Uno. The only real concern I have is Muta who is very far past his prime. Hopefully though the other five guys can cover for him. I see Muta and company going over.

Flashback Reviews Lockdown 2008

Samoa Joe debuted for TNA in 2005 he would embark on a  seventeen month unbeaten streak. In 2006 Kurt Angle debuted for TNA and became the man to finally beat Joe. Thus kicking off one of TNA's best feuds. Fast foreword to 2008 and TNA is ready to put the belt on Joe. They decided to it at the one of biggest events Lockdown. Now in 2014 with Joe once again challenging for the world title at Lockdown makes sense to look back at Lockdown 2008. An interesting thing about this match was several "news" sites reported with would be the start of TNA going for more an MMA based style of wrestling. Now I like MMA and while some things do cross over (mainly fans no matter how much some idiots claim they don't) Pro Wrestling is Pro Wrestling and MMA is MMA. Now Kurt Angle did come out in MMA trunks and shoeless so I think it was more of the sites hearing Kurt's plans for an MMA style match and running with. Also Joe did some stuff with MMA fighter Marcus Davis but Joe has trained MMA in the past. Of course if you have seen TNA post 2008 you know it's not MMA based. 

We open with Mike Tenay in the empty arena inside the cage. Mike talks about how tonight there is more on the line than just a title if Samoa Joe can't win he must leave wrestling behind. Tenay is great here he's very serious and has a perfect delivery and I like chaining it up from the normal music video style open. This actually makes the big stipulation seem more important because it just Tenay laying out the facts for us. Than we go to the usual PPV opening. We have the "Steel Cage" flaming it's has no soul and it will hurt the men that step into it. Kind of a gimmick but it works here. We get various clips of the action leading up the PPV and past six sides of steel matches in TNA. Our final line is someone saying "May God have mercy on there souls." Another  pretty effective open to get over how dangerous this PPV will be. We our out of Lowell Massachusetts for this PPV and I always love when TNA is out on the road. Don West in in the crowd he asks who will win Joe or Angle. West tosses to JB who is up in stands both men ask fans who will win. This feels more like something for a PPV pre show not a pay portion of the show. Mike Tenay takes over and talks about nothing is bigger than putting your career on the line.

Xscape Match For the X-Division Championship Black Machismo Jay Lethal © vs Curry Man vs Sonjay Dutt vs Johnny Devine vs Consequences  Creed vs Shark Boy- The rules of this match were if you are pinned or submit you are out when it's down to the final two men first one to escape wins. Tenay points out the Lethal and Sonjay are best friends as TNA was doing a long term build for an eventual feud would also include So Cal Val who at time was in a romance with Lethal. Curry Man was Christopher Daniels in a mask this was TNA's way of keeping him on the roster even though they run out of things for The Fallen Angel to do he started the gimmick in Japan and brought it to the US. Devine had been the trader to the X-Division and joined up with Team 3D when they tried to destroy it and and Creed is the future Xavier Woods he had just debuted for TNA. Shark Boy  was doing his Stone Cold Shark Boy gimmick. People can claim Black Machismo was stupid but it did wonder for Lethal in terms of brining out his personality and helping him connect with the fans. Not to mention his promos were ten times better in this gimmick than as just Jay Lethal. Dutt and Devine start us off. Step up rana and arm drag by Dutt. Devein tries to tag out but everyone just punches him instead. Finally Devine is able to tag in Curry Man. Lethal and Dutt take everyone out with a number of moves like a assisted standing moonsault. Attempt at the tower of doom but Devine holds on so Shark Boy and Curry Man just wind up power bombing Lethal and Dutt. Creed arm drags Devine off the tope rope. Chummer by Shark Boy on Lethal but Dutt makes the save. Devine rolls up Dutt to eliminate him. Missile dropkick by Shark Boy hit Devine. Twisting fishermen's  buster by Creed on Sharky. Curry Man sits Creed in the corner and hits a flying hip attack. Spice Drop attempt by Curry man but Creed shoves Shark Boy into him saving Devine. Hammer Lock DDT by Creed on Shark Boy eliminates the man from the sea. Tenay tells us Dutt is still at ringside cheering on Lethal. Curry Man climbs to the top of the cage. Devine shakes the cage and Curry slips. Curry hangs. Lethal and Devine fight Devine goes for a Shooting Star Press but Lethal moves. Double team back body drop by Devine and Creed on Lethal. Devine attacks Creed. Curry Man recovers and summer fault dive takes out Creed and Devine. Sadly West calls it a moonsault. Spice Rack on Creed and he is gone. Curry and Lethal with the Hart Attack but Devine kicks at two. Spice Rack on Lethal but Devine cuts Curry Man off so he can hit the Devine Intervention. Now normally I bitch about making a save in a eliminate standpoint. But here it makes since Curry is gone and Lethal is still down. Putting Devein in control in the escape portion. Devein tries to go through the door but Lethal hooks his leg. Lethal tossed into the cage wall. Devine takes the tape off his writs to tie Lethal to the ropes. Sonjay won't let the door be opened so Devine has to climb up the cage to get out. Dutt gets an electrons knife and hands it Lethal who cuts himself free  and dives out the door before Devine can get down. Decent spot fest opening and we sold the ongoing story with Lethal and Dutt. Post match Lethal, Val, an Dutt celebrate. JB is with MMA fighter Frank Trigg. Trigg is a buddy of Kurt Angle's and was appearing as an analyst for TNA at this time for big matches. He was actually pretty decent at it and given the fact Trigg is pretty unlikeable  he good a good heel. Trigg threatens JB for brining up Matt Hughes and GSP. JB asks what is going though the heads of Kurt and Joe. Trigg talks about how Kurt has been here before in tough matches while Joe hasn't and reminds us Joe has failed three times. Trigg says he sees Joe hanging for a little while but Kurt will win. JB asks Joe's recent training with another MMA fighter Marcus Davis. Trigg says it won't be enough. Pretty good segment setting up the main event and Trigg's role as a Kurt's buddy. 

Queen of the Cage Christy Hemme vs Salinas vs Jackie Moore vs Traci Brooks vs Angelina Love vs Velvet Sky vs Rhaka Khan vs Roxxi Laveaux- Hemme was in the Rock and Rave infection at this time. Salins worked for WWE as Ariel and has molded as Shelly Martinez she was LAX's valet this time. Jackie Moore was the valet of James Storm, West and Tenay put over Jackie's success in the past. Brooks had spent most  of the last year plus managing Robert Roode but turned face at this point. Love and Sky were in the early days of the Beautiful People gimmick and had just given a "makeover" to Roxxi. Khan was Lady Tapi with less talent she sucked but TNA kept her around way to long hoping here look would pay off some day and she would learn how to wrestle at this stage with with Scott Steiner and Petey Williams. Roxxi was still doing her voodoo gimmick she had just gotten free from the whole VKM mess. The rules were the first two girls to climb over the top into the cage would than wrestle the winner would become number 1 contender to the Knockouts title. This was your classic "Get everyone on the card match. I get what TNA wanted but the whole idea didn't work. The Beautiful People jump Roxxi at the start. Traci and Jackie fight it out. Angelina mangoes to climbs up and over first. Velvet and Traci both climb up. Roxxi stops Velvet. Jackie and Traci stop each other. Roxxi gets in second. they would have been better off just booking a Roxxi vs Angelina match for this PPV instead of the dumb gimmick match. Big elbow by Roxxi takes down Angelina. Running big boot gets two for Roxxi. Angelina gets a hold of Roxxi's scarf and uses it to choke her. Bicycle kick by Angelina gets two. Lights out by Angelina but Roxxi kicks out. The fans chant for Roxxi. Angelina taunts the fans. Rolls up by Angelina but Roxxi uses her legs to send her into the cage wall. Voodoo Drop by Roxxi for the win. Ok match once it was down to one on one but nothing to special still better than anything with a Bella Twin or Alicia Fox.

Backstage Lauren Thompson is with Samoa Joe. Joe says there is no need to repeat what he said five weeks ago. Joe tells us he hasn't though about losing and Kurt knows Joe can beat him. Joe talks about  giving his life to the sport of pro wrestling. Joe says he will giving anything for the world title even his career and life. Great fired up promo by Joe talking about the biggest match of life. We than go to a video recapping the BJ and Kip James feud. Both guys try but I don't guy anything said here. 

BG James vs Kip James- Kip had turned on BG when BG (who in storyline wanted to live a dream) had picked Bullet Bob to partner with for a tag title shot. Kip had hit Bob with a crutch at some point. Kip jumps BG right at the start. Stomp by Kip on BG who is down and than another stomp. Jabs by BG cut off when Kip hits a stunner. Ok I will give credit that was a smart spot it was BG doing one of his normal spots and Kip knowing what was coming cut him off. BG trapped in the ropes and cage wall and Kip rams his head into the cage. BG goes for a lariat but Kip catches him with a knee to the stomach. Tenay and West say Kip was the muscle of the team while BG was usually the brains. BG tossed into the cage wall face fist.  Famouser by Kip but he's way to slow to follow up so BG kicks out. Kip to the second rope famouseror misses low blow by BG both men are down. Punch exchange when they are up. BG with a back elbow and than the jabs before tossing Kip into the cage a few times. Knee drop by BG gets two. BG crouches himself by mistake when he goes to hits a knee on Kip. Kip misses a splash roll up by BG for the win. Boring match these two guys were so washed up at this point it's sad. BG became a road agent a few months later while Kip was reduced to a comedy roll as Cute Kip after this. And in 2014 the WWE put the tag belts on two guys so old they make the What ever you wan to call them of this time look like Daniel Bryan and Punk.

Post match BG pulls Kip and extending the hand. Kip holds up BG's hand before cold clocking him. BG stands up BG and tells him to suck it. Yeah yeah who cares. JB is with Kurt Angle. JB talks about how Kurt has distanced himself form every and asks why this match is so important? Kurt talks about how he beat everyone the WWE put him against and than he watched TNA and saw Samoa Joe. He says Joe has an intensity he has only seen in the mirror. He says all four times they have wrestled they were pushed to the limits. Kurt says its personal in order to prove he is the best he needs to end Joe's career. Great promo by Angle. Now that I can buy. I really do think Joe and Angle did push each other to be the best. 

Cuffed in the Cage Rock and Rave Infection Jimmy Rave & Lance Hoyt vs Eric Young & Kaz vs Rellik and Black Reign vs The Motor City Machine Guns Chris Sabin & Alex Shelley vs LAX Homicide & Hernandez vs Scott Steiner & Petey Williams- Rave says its great to be back in New York City to get heat. Backstage we see Black Reign and Rellik beating up Eric Young. Kaz runs in and save his partner security pulls everyone apart. Eric Young is "badly hurt" and Kaz is forced to out alone. Rellik was the former Johnny the Bull and Black Reign was Dustin Rhodes in a crazy man gimmick. Rellik was kind of cool Black Reign like anything Dustin has done post 1997 has sucked at this point they were feuding with Kaz and Eric Young taking advantage of EY's fear. LAX had a feud with Rock and Rave going on. This was another get as many guys as we can on the card and the rules were you had to handcuff the other wrestlers using handcuffs that were on the cage. Kaz doesn't get in into the end and still no Eric Young. Everyone brawls belly to belly suplex series by Steiner. Hernandez catapults Steiner and than the drive by by Homicide. Hoyt, Rellik, and Black Reign gang up and handcuff Steiner first. Eric Young makes his way out but he sees Rellik and Black Reign who taunt him as EY tries to climb up. Eric leaves.  Rellik and Black Reign double team up on Kaz. Sliced bread attempts by Shelley but Williams shoves him off and into the cage Shelley gets cuffed. Wave of the future by Kaz on Sabin who gets cuffed. Rellik and Black Reign  with double team spiked DDT on Williams and they cuff him. Dooms day Gringo cutter on Kaz by LAX. Rave gets cracker jacked into the cage. Big clothesline by Hoyt drops Hernandez.  Low blowy by Black Reign on Hernandez and Super Mex is cuffed. Kaz with the Flux Capacitor on Rave. Homicide has been cuffed its downy o Kaz and four heels. Big booty by Hoyt. Leaping kick by Kaz stuns Hoyt. Flux Capacitor attempts by Kaz but Hoyt turns it into a choke slam from the top rope. Kaz gets cuffed. Down to Rock and Rave vs Reign and Rellik. The monster jump Rock and Rave. Suddenly music starts to play and Super Eric arrives. The idea was that when EY became Super Eric he no longer had the fears that held by Eric Young. I liked gimmick given it was funny and a nice way to start moving away from the Eric is a coward stuff. Cross body off the top by Super Eric. Rave is cuffed. Hoyt charges but Super Eric back body drops him into the cage and cuff him. Double team by the monsters. The monsters go to cuff Super Eric but some how Super Eric cuff Rellik. Death Valley Driver by Super Eric Reign is cuffed. Match is a mess.I get they wanted everyone on the PPV but they would have been better off just doing Young and Kaz vs the Monsters. Plus with some the guys hand cuffed to the cage it could hard for the wrestlers to move around. 

Post match Super Eric breaks the handcuffs holding Kaz. Super Eric and Kaz celebrate the win. Backstage Lauren with Samoa Joe's family. At this time at a lot of TNA PPV's Joe would come out and do a War Dance with his family as part of his entrance so his family is dressed for that. Joe's father is asked about the possibility of Joe losing. Joe's dad says no way and this is all he has ever wanted since he was a little boy. Joe father win or lose he loves his son and than speaks in Samoan. I actually like this segment it was cool to see Joe's family there support him and Joe's dad did ok for a non wrestler. 

Awesome Kong and Raisha Saeed vs Gail Kim and ODB- Kong worked as Kharma in the WWE for a few weeks Saeed you would know as Cheerleader Melissa she also used the name as Alissa Flash. The gimmick was Saeed was some woman from the middle east so she was alway in a veil who had met Kong years earlier and was her one friend. Kong has ended Gail's Knockouts title reign and ODB was the the girls that refused to back down to Kong. West and Tenay talk about how ODB had been rivals but came together out of the shared hate of Kong and Saeed. ODB with some big shots and ducks a Kong clothesline. Kong catches ODB on a slide and tosser her away tag to Gail and tag to Saeed. Saeed with an arm drag and than slam Gail's arm into the mat. Gail escapes and goes over the back into a arm drag. Takedown by Saeed into a submission hold. Power slam by Saeed followed by an elbow drop. Great looking fishermen's suplex by Saeed gets a two count. Up and over than a drop kick by Gail and  flying head scissors by Gail. Gail spring to the middle rope but Kong slams Gail's face into the cage. Saeed sits Gail on the top rope.Said uses her boot to ram Gail's head into the cage over and over again. Tag to Kong.  Gail tries to fire but a double chop puts her down. Running avalanche splash by Kong tag back to Saeed. Spear by Gail on Saeed. Tag to ODB. Running clotheslines by ODB who cheap shots Kong a few times. Fall away slam by ODB cover and Kong breaks it up. All four knockouts into fight. Gail climbs up the cage but Saeed blocks her and sets for a top rope power bomb. Huncanrana by Gail on Saeed as she stand on the top rope. Kong hits Saeed by mistake with a spinning backlist. Missile dropkick by Gail take out Kong. Top rope splash by ODB for the win. Very good match all four women worked just fine and never had a rough spot. Gail as usual shinned with some high risks moves in the cage. 

Backstage JB with Karen Angle the wife of Kurt. In storyline the two had separated so Kurt could focus on this match (in real life they separated later that year.) JB says no one expected to see her. Karen she is there to support the father of her children and says Kurt has changed because of this match. She also says she is concurred if Kurt doesn't live his own expectations. Decent promo I just hope with Jarrett new company he doesn't make Karen featured act.

Booker T and Sharmell vs Robert Roode and Payton Banks- Booker had debuted at Genesis in November of 2007 and Roode wasn't happy to see another start taking time from him. During the events of a match at Final Resolution in January Roode had punched Sharmell and spent months mocking Booker and running from him. Banks is best known as Rain on the Indy Scene sadly she never got much of a chance win TNA. It seemed like TNA brought her into to do a few matches with Traci and than fill Traci's roll in this match. Also I don't' think she quite got the role as Payton Banks as it was different from her Rain gimmick and she never really got it figured out.  Roode was just starting to come into his own at this point as a heel and showed why he was a future world champion. Mike and Don talk about how Booker has to feel like he needs to protect Sharmell and beat Roode. Roode an Booker start us off. The storyline  was Jim Cornett had booked this match and Booker wasn't happy. As Booker checks on Sharmell at the start Roode drops him. Big chops by both men to start. Exchange of knees. Spin kick by Booker. Great looking by Roode. Roode moves towards Sharmell before going after Booker. Neckbreaker by Roode as he mocks Sharmell to tag in. You know I when I first put in this DVD to review it (since I hadn't watched the show in years) I was confused why put Sharmell and Banks in the cage but I get it. Because it put the element that Roode could get to her again in there and Roode plays this up great. Running back elbow than a knee drop by Roode. West puts over the fact that as much as we hate Roode you have to respect his talent. Kick by booker lands. Ax kick attempt but Roode hits a spine buster for two. Again Roode mocks Sharmell and even extends Booker's hand at her. West and Tenay say Booker had promised to never put Sharmell in harm's way again. Another kick by Booker and both men are down. Booker blocks punch and hits some chops and than flying forearm. Suplex by Booker gets two. Booker with a spine buster but not nearly as good looking as Roode's. Spin a Rooney time by Booker. Ax Kick misses again. Roode fights out of the book end. Booker blocks the pay off. Roode rams Booker into the cage. Sharmell tags in and windmills slaps on Roode. Roode grabs her hair. Banks tags herself in and tells Roode to hold Sharmell. Sharmell escapes and Banks slaps Roode. Roll up by Sharmell on Banks for the win. Ok match the Booker and Roode stuff was pretty good I do with there had been some blood given how intense the feud had been at times. 

Post match Rode snaps at Banks and acts like he is about to hit her but walking off. Backstage Lauren is with UFC fighter Marcus Davis who was Joe's "trainer." Davis put over how good the camp had been with Joe and how they had gone over everything. Davis called Joe a complete fighter. Lauren asks what Joe needs to do to win? Davis says stick to the plan. Again decent promo. Davis was not the most popular UFC guy but they were playing to the Massachusetts audience.

Lethal Lockdown Team Cage Christian Cage, Sting, Rhino, Kevin Nash, and Matt Morgan vs Team Tomko Tomko, AJ Styles, Team 3D and James Storm- AJ and Tomko had turned on Cage to side with Angle. Rhino had an on going feud with Storm. Christian was out first for his team and Tomko made an entrance but AJ Styles comes out from the crowd and climbed over the cage to jump Christian. Nice twist opener. AJ with a spring board elbow at the start. Half camel clutch by AJ. Christian blocks the ram into the cage so AJ goes to the eyes. Phenomical dropkick by AJ. Christian blocks the inverted DDT but again AJ goes to the eyes and AJ hits it. AJ misses the corner splash big clothesline by Christian. Frog splash by Christian misses. Styles Clash blocked inverted DDT by Christian. Jaw breaker by AJ. AJ goes for a rana but Cage catches him and hits a sit out power bomb. AJ into the steel. Unprettier blocked than the Pelle. Brother Ray (in Yankees gear) out next for team Tomko. They slam the cage door on Christian's face. Back body drop by Ray. Boston crab by Ray AJ drops the knee on Christian's head. Rhino out for team Cage. Rhino with big shots and belly to belly on Ray. Rhino goes for the Gore on Ray but AJ catches him with a drop kick to the head. Christian takes out AJ and than he locks in a sleeper on Ray but Ray turn it into a modified cutter. James Storm is man number three for team Tomko. Eye of the storm on Christian. Rhino sends AJ into the cage but AJ lands like Spider Man. AJ and Rhino Fight on the tope rope. AJ climbs to the top and kicks Rhino down. Christian is up and he and AJ fight on top of the cage. Christian knocked off the top of the cage to the floor outside of it. Man three for Team Cage is Kevin Nash. Don and Mike point at Team cage is back a disadvantage with Christian on the outside. Nash caches AJ on a cross body and hits Snake Eyes. Cage climbs back in and hits a cross body taking out Storm and Ray. Everyone is down. Rhino is first back up. Ray targets Nash's legs. Brother Devon is the fourth man for Team Tomko. 3D whips Cage and than doubt team hot shots him into the cage wall. Double team shoulder block on Rhino. Nash goes after Devon but Ray clips the leg and than so does Storm. Running drop kick by Storm on Christian who is still wedge in the ropes Matt Morgan out of  Team Cage. Big punches by Morgan. Big boot on AJ. Bicycle kick (carbon footprint) Nash throws AJ into the cage. Ray goes afar the legs of Morgan. Devon is bleeding. Double clothesline by Morgan takes out 3D. Morgan face plants AJ after AJ had escaped a choke slam.Tomko comes out holding a chair The referee won't let him take it. Big kick at Morgan by Tomko. Tomko and Christian exchange the mount and punches. AJ just pounding Nash like a mad man. Devon chokes Morgan on the ropes.  Here comes Sting with his usual chops and kicks. Low blows for AJ and Storm. 

Here comes the celling and the weapons let the lethal lockdown begin. Everyone has a weapon. AJ swing a bag an Nash but Nash uses a chair to block. Storm climbs up and onto the ceiling area Christian. Follow. Storm with a trash can lid to Christian. Sting dents a trashcan on Tomko's back and than AJ's head. Christian crotches Storm on a support bar and we see cage roof starting to give way. Rhino with Kendo stick shots until Devon starts to hit him with a trashcan. Repeated trashcan lid shots by Christian on Storm's head. Choke slam by Nash on Ray and Morgan chokeslasm Devon. Sting with a dropkick on a chair into Tomko's head. Scorpion death lock on Tomko but AJ breaks it up with a kendo stick. Christian starts to set up a table. AJ climbs up with Christian and Storm. Cage is on the table. AJ sets up a ladder and climbs. Christian gets up and nail Storm and aAJ as he's not looking.  Storm knocks the ladder over AJ and Christian hit the table. Storm climbs back down into the cage. Storm has a beer and breaks the bottle on Morgan's head. GORE BY RHINO on Storm for the win. Anther very good lethal lockdown. Lets be honest these are meant to be spots fest and we got it. Plus AJ and Christian's spot was cool as hell. 

We get a video recapping various moments in the Kurt Angle and Samoa Joe feud over the years. Its a very well down video and hits everything you would want it to. Its down time line style. We also get various people making there picks and footage of Joe training. We even get the editor of Real Fighter Magazine and this is a big name vs big name match. Its a really well done video and I always enjoy seeing guys training like guys getting ready for a real fight would. We see Karen Angle has taken a seat at ringside. Frank Trigg has joined Don and Mike. Mike points out that Angle has won three of the four previous matches with Joe. We see Joe backstage walking for the ring. Trigg says he looks nervous and says they will be drinking champaign at Joe's retirement party. Mike says Joe look focused. We than get another video highlighting Joe. TNA started doing this before the main event and I wish they would do it again because it just always helped make the main event seem like a bigger deal. Joe's brother comes out with the fire torches for the fire dance. Trigg says Joe has put to much pressures on himself. Joe embraces Marcus Davis. We see Angle backstage in green MMA shorts instead of the usual singlet and the TNA world title. Mike says Kurt would see it as a major notch on the belt if he retired Joe. Than we get the highlight video on Angle. 

TNA World Heavyweight Championship Kurt Angle © vs Samoa Joe if Joe loses he retires-  Before the match starts Kurt has Karen kicked out of her seat. Trigg defends it saying he doesn't let his wife be cage side when he is fighting either. Feeling out process to start. Kurt drives Joe into the ropes. Ref breaks after Joe reverses. Kurt with a low kick early on and than another one. Trigg wonders if Kurt can kept his up given he's not a striker. Tenay points out the kicks will lead to the ankle lock. Kurt catches a kick by Joe but rolls through and gets and gets the ankle lock but Kurt gets the ropes. Takedown by Kurt and the pounds on Joe who gets to the ropes. Joe blocks a takedown and kicks Kurt's head off . Joe tries to maul Kurt but Kurt wraps him up and scouts to the ropes. Big hip toss by Joe. goes for it again but Kurt turns into a suplex. Kurt goes for the triangle choke but Joe gets the ropes. Front face lock by Kurt after some punches. Joe hits the ropes going for a move but Kurt gets him with an over head belly to belly. Kurt goes for an arm bar but Joe locks his hands. Joe gets to this feet and gets a two count on Kurt. Joe again hits the ropes and this time Kurt clips the leg. Figure four by Angle. Joe tries to get out but can't. Joe starts to lay flat and gets counted. Trigg says after this even if Joe gets out his legs will be shot. Joe finally reverses the figure four Kurt grabs the ropes. Kurt begins working over the legs. Kurt with a knee bar. Joe chops Kurt so Angle floats over to a headlock. Joe is free. Belly to belly attempts by Angle but Joe claps the ears and nails a massive clothesline. Big running knee by Joe hits Kurt in the chin. Kurt escapes the muscle buster and locks in the ankle lock. Joe kicks free as Trigg puts over what amazing athletes both men are. ST JOE gets two. Powerbomb into the boston crab than the lion's hammer. Trigg admits he's getting nervous for his friend. STF by Joe. Joe turns it into a cross face and covers Kurt's eyes so he can't see the ropes. Kurt grabs the ankle and revers into the ankle lock. Joe reverses back into the cross face. Kurt puts his hand up like he is about to top tap finally Kurt is able to get free. Kurt charges but Kurt side steps into another cross face. They roll and Kurt hits the Olympic Slam and gets a two count. Back to the ankle lock by Kurt Angle. Kurt tries to kick Kurt off but Kurt won't let go. Joe acts like he is about to tap. Joe flips to this stomach and acts like is about to kick off but instead trips Angle and locks in the rear naked choke. Kurt grabs onto the ref and pulls himself to the ropes. Joe is upset and yells at the referee. Angles slam blocked by Joe and he tosses Kurt into the cage and follow it up with a super kick. MUCLE BUSTER for the 1 2 3. Very good match actually better than I remember it being. The MMA stuff actually added as it came off like Kurt was trying something new vs a man he had faced so many times in the past. The mat work and striking was very well down. Trigg, West, and Tenay all did well in there rolls Trigg cheering for Kurt but being impressed by Joe. West as the color man cheering for the face and Tenay doing play by play. The story was well told and you felt the passion both men have for wrestling.

Post match Marcus Davis presents the TNA world title to Joe. Trigg admits he was wrong and Joe deserves it. Joe clutches the title and beings to cry. Joe than hugs Davis as Kurt stays down. We get the usual post match highlights of the big moments. We close with the new TNA world champion holding the belt high as Tenay tells April 13th will always be the night Samoa Joe became TNA world champion

Bonus match TNA World Heavyweight Championship Samoa Joe © vs Kurt Angle-  This took place on the April 24th Impact. This was more of a straight up pro wrestling match and Kurt was back to his normal look. Kurt had again kicked Karen out of the arena. In a nice touch David Penzer announces Joe as the NEW TNA world heavyweight champion. Tenay talks about what a set back it would be for Joe to lose it right back to Joe. West tells us that Kurt demanded this rematch to try and ruin Joe's moment. Joe drives Kurt into the ropes and has to break. Headlock by Angle. Joe shoves him off and than takes Kurt down with a shoulder tackle. Kurt bails to the outside. Headlock by Joe Kurt shoves him off and again Joe lands the shoulder tackle Kurt bails out clearly frustrated. Headlock by Joe Kurt shoves him off this time Kurt drops down and than goes for a hip toss but Joe blocks it and hits a clothesline. Joe sides steps a charging Kurt and gets a side headlock takedown. Kurt goes to the eyes. and hits a couple of big upper cuts. Joe again sides steep and Kurt hits the ring post. Suicide Dive by Joe after Kurt bailed out again. Atomic drop big boot and senton by Joe gets two. Face wash by Joe. Snap suplex by Joe than the cross arm breaker. West say Joe has been non chalaunt on the pins to send a message to Kurt. Release German suplex by Kurt after a kick to the gut. Chin lock by Kurt who than goes to eyes and the noise before going back to the clean hold. Joe fights free but over head belly to belly by Angle. ST Joe on a charging Angle. Joe charges but Kurt drops down and Kurt goes to floor and "hurts" his leg. Kurt kicks at Joe's bad leg. Figure four by Angle back on the inside. During the break Joe's on screen mentor Kevin Nash came out to cheer Joe on. Joe gets the ropes but Kurt won't break until Earl Hebner pulls the leg free. Knee bar by Angle. Kurt chops himself free. Both men stand and exchange. Joe drives Angle back than a huge spine buster gets two. Joe slaps at his bad leg. Snap power slam gets two for Joe. Ankle lock but Joe revers free. Joe misses a charge and Kurt hits the Olympic slam for two. Don says the bad leg isn't' letting Joe build speed. Moonsault by Kurt Angle misses. Joe goes for the choke but Kurt drops down and gets the Ankle. Kurt tries to kick free but Kurt won't let go. Joe flips over and does the trip into the choke. Kurt gets the ropes and now Hebner has to pull Joe off. Joe goes for the enqizurie but Kurt ducks and Earl Hebner gets hit. Low blow by Angle and the Olympic Slam. Straps are down ankle lock. Joe kicks free. Scott Steiner (who was set to get the next title shot and had an issue with Kurt earlier) comes down and nails Kurt with a pipe. ISLAND DRIVER by Joe for the win. West rants about Steiner interfering in the match. Scott stands over Angle and yells "Don't ever disrespect me!" Joe and Steiner get face to face. Joe slaps Steiner. Jim Cornett (TNA on screen boss) runs out and tells Steiner that he is adding Kurt to the title match at Sacrifice since nothing had been settled. Good match but it lakes the big match feeling of the PPV match like most TV rematches do. One thing I like was the match started out with Joe laid back and calm and Kurt desperate but as Kurt found success he relaxed and Joe appeared to be getting upset.

Lockdown 2008 has some very silly stipulation matches in an effort to get everyone on the card. But I can forgive the silly stipulations since they were done by wrestlers and no spot monkeys or guys that can't wrestles so they "go hardcore." There are also several very good matches in the Xscape, Knockouts tag, Mixed Tag, Lethal Lockdown and World title match. The only bad I would say is Kip vs BG and I feel any time given to that would have been better served well any where. Adding it the historical value especially for Samoa Joe fans pick this one up if you can find it.
