Wrestle-1 Running US Tour

The Wrestle-1 promotion, run by the legendary Keiji Mutoh (The Great Muta) out of Japan, announced earlier today that they will be running a five show tour of the United States later this month, beginning on June 23 at the former ECW Arena in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The tour is being run in conjunction with US independent promotion APWA out of West Virginia. Tickets for the Philadelphia are on-sale now, while the other dates will go on-sale later this week. Dates for the tour are as follows:
* 6/23 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania at the former ECW Arena (2300 Arena)
* 6/25 in Belle Vernon, Pennsylvania at the Rostraver Ice Gardens
* 6/26 in Pakersburg, West Virginia
* 6/27 in Shelby, North Carolina
* 6/28 in Atlanta, Georgia

Update on TNA and Wrestle-1

We noted over the weekend that Wrestle-1's Jimmy Suzuki said on Twitter that he was headed to Orlando for a big TNA announcement on Monday, which never happened. While Suzuki is in town with The Great Muta for last night's One Night Only tapings, TNA sources indicate to PWInsider that there was never any announcement planned.

Big News to come on TNA & Wrestle-1 on Monday

Jimmy Suzuki, executive with Wrestle-1, TNA’s affiliation in Japan has announced that he will be in Orlando in Monday with TNA for a big announcement.

Tension Between TNA and Wrestle 1 Over Bound For Glory

There were reportedly frustrations on TNA’s side with Wrestle-1 leading into last night’s Bound For Glory. Wrestle-1 was originally going to handle certain aspects of the show financially and on the production side, but that changed after the show was announced and planning for the PPV was underway.

Opinionated View- I hope what ever trouble there is can be worked. I think the deal is good for both companies.

WRESTLE-1 News: Alberto Del Rio Making Appearance, First Champion Crowned, More

WRESTLE-1 had a show at Korakuen Hall earlier today, here are some notes from that show…

* Masayuki Kono became the first WRESTLE-1 champion. He defeated KAI in the tournament finals.

* Alberto Del Rio will wrestle on WRESTLE’1 Sumo Hall show on November 1st. That would be the Keiji Muto 30th Anniversary (as a wrestler) show.

* Also on the show, Tajiri betrayed W-1 and joined the top heel group, DESPERADO. He did so when he helped Kono defeat Masakatsu Funaki in a W-1 championship semi-final match. No word on if this booking will change Sunday’s TNA Bound for Glory PPV. On that show, Tajiri is scheduled to team with Muta vs. James Storm and Sanada.

Backstage Details on Reasons Behind Match Changes for TNA Bound for Glory

- One of the original plans for TNA Bound for Glory was to have Team 3D vs. The Wolves at the PPV from the tag titles. The Wolves were taken off the event and replaced by Tommy Dreamer and Abyss. Abyss was originally going to face Bram, but bookers decided to make the change since Team 3D was in the country for the Hall of Fame ceremony. Bram was also pulled from the show.

- Samoa Joe vs. Low Ki was the original X-Division title match. Kaz Hayashi from Wrestle-1 was added to the match because Joe is working through an injury, and Hayashi would be able to compensate for any issues in the match if need be.

- The original plan was for MVP vs. Ryota Hama, which was changed to MVP vs. Kazma Sakamoto. Hama will now face Ethan Carter III. This was done to add more TNA vs. Wrestle-1 matches for the event.

- Some Wrestle-1 talents were not booked for the event because Wrestle-1 did not want to alienate American PPV buyers by making it look like a total Wrestle-1 event

Update on TNA Bound For Glory

According to Pwinsider.com, here are the latest details on the TNA Bound For Glory PPV. Jimmy Suzuki, who is working as the WRESTLE-1 liaison with TNA met with John Gaburick and other TNA officials yesterday in Nashville, TN. The following is what came out of that meeting…

* The Wolves will not be on the show due to Davey Richards’ injuries.

* Team 3D will be “appearing”. No clarification on if this is just for the Hall of Fame, or if it means a match.

* There should be 7-8 matches on the show, and some of those matches should be announced this week.

* Bully Ray, Devon, Samoa Joe, MVP, Sanada, James Storm, Ethan Carter III, Bram, Manik, Abyss, Tajiri and The Great Muta are officially advertised for the show.

* Suzuki posted the following on Twitter about the meeting and the PPV…

Some internet sights say Bobby Lashley will be at the BFG but that's wrong !! We would lake to be honest to fans and don't take it wrong.

- According to Wrestle-1′s Jimmy Suzuki, the Knockouts are unlikely to appear on TNA’s Bound for Glory PPV. As previously reported, TNA is putting on the show in Japan with Wrestle-1 and when asked on Twitter, Suzuki said that he felt it wasn’t likely due to the stacked card plans.

We have too many good cards and having difficulty make it less than 10... Sorry but I don't think there will be a room for girls this time. We don't want 5 min matches . We want to show good solid wrestling as a speciality of Japanese wrestling organization . Best match I have seen in TNA is Joe vs AJ vs Daniels. I wanna see something like that at BFG.

Opinionated View- Its possible Davey Richards aggravated his injury during the recent Impact Wrestling taping or just gutted it out to get through the storyline but now needs more time to truly heal. Sounds like it will more of a TNA vs Wrestle1 show. And well given your running the show in Japan and time delay will open up spoilers. You don't really want to do much storyline.

Lashley I had heard they were holding out to see how he would be after the MMA fight. I assume 3D will work both Ray and Devon have a big respect for Japan. I hate the KO's won't work but I get what they are saying. More matches and finding room for the girls means something else gets cut.

Davey Richards May Be Back By Bound For Glory

As previously reported, Davey Richards broke his leg during a match on the August 15th TNA house show in Indiana, Pennsylvania and is expected to be out four to six weeks. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that Richards will definitely miss the upcoming Japan tour with Wrestle-1 and will be replaced by Tigure Uno. However, he is expected to be back in time for Bound for Glory in October.

The site notes that there is a chance that Richards could even be back in time for the TV tapings in late September, though that isn't certain by any stretch. TNA has shows already taped through the end of September and as such will likely not mention Richards' injury in the hopes he can be back by the time on the PPV and next Impacts. 

Opinionated View- You hope the best for Davey. I really don't want to see the Wolves have to give up the Tag Titles.

Tajiri Working Impact Wrestling Tapings

Former WWE and ECW star Yoshihiro Tajiri is set to work the Impact Wrestling tapings in New York from August 5-7. Tajiri currently works for the Japanese promotion Wrestle-1, which has a partnership with TNA

X-Division Title Situation Causes Tension Between TNA and Wrestle-1

- As you know by now, Austin Aries won the X-Division title from Sanada at one of the recent sets of Impact tapings, which occurred on June 20th but aired on Spike on July 10th. In between, Senada was booked for a match in Japan against his mentor, the Great Muta. While the match was originally supposed to be advertised as an X-Division title match with Sanada getting a big win out of it, that didn't go down.

After Aries won the title, TNA told Wrestle-1 that Sanada could defend the title as it wouldn't be happening on US TV for several weeks. This is a normal situation for US wrestling, but not for Japan and Wrestle-1 received several upset calls and letter accusing them of false advertising. As a result, Wrestle-1 announced that Sanada had lost the title and Muta won the eventual match.

TNA was reportedly not pleased that Wrestle-1 "spoiled" the title change. Sanada is expected to stay with TNA throughout the year.

Sanada Signs TNA Contract

At a press conference earlier today in Tokyo, Japan held by Wrestle-1, it was announced that Seiya Sanada has officially signed a contract with TNA. Sanada had started an indefinite excursion with TNA, beginning at the Lockdown PPV in March. Sanada went on to win the TNA X-Division Title. Sanada will still make appearances in Japan for Wrestle-1 with the new contract signed with TNA. Sanada lost a match to the Great Muta at yesterday's 7/6 Wrestle-1 show at Sumo Hall in Tokyo. 

Opinionated View- This is awesome to hear Sanada is a great talent. It will be interesting to see how TNA take advantage of this chance.

TNA Results From Today's Wrestle-1 Show

- Yusude Kodama and TAJIRI defeated Ethan Carter III & Rockstar Spud following TAJIRI using his Buzzsaw Kick on Spud at the 11 minute mark.
Kodama cut his first promo for Wrestling-1 announcing that he has officially joined the promotion on a permanent basis following the folding of TAJIRI’s Wrestling New Classic promotion.

- The Wolves Eddie Edwards and Davey Richards defeated Minoru Tanaka and Koji Kanemoto after Richards pinned Minoru at the 15:30 minute mark.
Kaz Hayashi and Shuji Kondo were at the broadcast table during the match. The two got up and argued with the Wolves.

- The great Muta defeated Seya Sanada at the 10 minute mark.
Sanada hinted that he could be done with Wrestle-1 for good.

Following the event, Wrestle-1 announced that their next big show Currently called Wrestle-1: HOLD OUT will be held in Ryogoku on November 1 2014 and will honor The Great Muta’s 30th anniversary in Pro Wrestling.

Interpromotional Matches Planned For TNA Bound For Glory

- As previously reported, TNA is holding Bound for Glory in Japan this year with a mixture of TNA and Wrestle-1 stars set for the show. Wrestle-1 reportedly wants at least their top four guys on the card and several others will likely appear also.

The current plan, although the specific card hasn't been decided, is to do matches based on TNA's current TV feuds along with some TNA vs. Wrestle-1 matches. Neither company wants to bury the other so the wins and losses will have to be negotiated, with wins likely to be split down the middle.

Update On Sanada's Future In TNA And Wrestle-1

TNA is reportedly getting Sanada for free right now, as Wrestle-1 is paying him his regular salary while he works in TNA. 

The Great Muta thinks that Sanada will be a big star in Japan, and holding the X Division title in TNA will help him in that regard. 

When Sanada dropped the title, it was thought that he would return to Japan full time by the end of the year. There is now talk of signing him to a joint contract with both companies. He would mainly work in TNA but still appear at the big Wrestle-1 events. If this happens, then Sanada would have to be protected somewhat in TNA storylines so he can still be a big star in Japan. Muta thinks he will be a top player in Wrestle-1. 

Opinionated View- I'd be happy to see this I have really enjoyed Sanada's time in and it would be different from anything WWE is doing.

Breaking News: Bound For Glory Announced for Tokyo, Japan in October!

Today, just hours before TNA's massive IMPACT tapings begin in New York City, TNA President Dixie Carter and legendary Japanese icon the Great Muta held a press conference at the Manhattan Center to announce that, for the first time, the annual Bound For Glory pay-per-view will take place in Tokyo, Japan at Korakeun Hall!

This year will mark the 10th Anniversary of the annual Bound For Glory event and will certainly be the biggest and most exciting year yet!

Additionally, it was revealed today that Team 3D will be inducted into the TNA Hall of Fame in Tokyo as well! The most decorated Tag Team in history, Team 3D have done many tours of Japan and held the country's most prestigious tag team gold!

Bound For Glory will be held on October 12, 2014 and more details will be available soon!

Opinionated View- This is really cool. Its going to a different crowd and be one of kind experience. I do have some concerns about what this means for the time and if the show will air live.
