Update on Samoa Joe’s Injury and Future With TNA (SPOILERS)

 Samoa Joe had to vacate the TNA X-Division Title at the last set of TV tapings, due to not getting medically cleared to perform. Joe suffered some kind of shoulder injury, either in his September 16th match with Austin Aries, or his September 17th match against Gunner.

- Joe’s current deal is believed to end right after Bound for Glory.

- TNA is hoping to book Samoa Joe vs. Low Ki for the Bound For Glory PPV.

Opinionated View- Well you just hope Joe can heal up and won't be out long.

Backstage News from This Week’s Impact Wrestling Tapings (SPOILERS)

- With regards to the X-Division title change during last night’s Impact Wrestling TV tapings, Low Ki won the title and became the new X-Division champion last night (Sept. 19). Low Ki won a Fatal 4-Way against Tigre Uno, Manik, and DJ Z in order to win the belt.

Samoa Joe was reportedly forced to drop the title because he was injured during the first set of Impact Wrestling tapings held last Tuesday (Sept. 16). Joe tried to work through the injury, but he only made it worse by doing so. As a result, Joe was forced to vacate the title, and the belt was put on Low Ki.

The details regarding the nature Joe’s injury and the amount of time off he needs are unknown.

Opinionated View- That is disappointing for TNA as Joe has had some great matches at X-Division Champion. Hopefully Joe can heal up. If there is any bright side you have a great set up for an Joe vs Low Ki rematch.

X-Division Title Situation Causes Tension Between TNA and Wrestle-1

- As you know by now, Austin Aries won the X-Division title from Sanada at one of the recent sets of Impact tapings, which occurred on June 20th but aired on Spike on July 10th. In between, Senada was booked for a match in Japan against his mentor, the Great Muta. While the match was originally supposed to be advertised as an X-Division title match with Sanada getting a big win out of it, that didn't go down.

After Aries won the title, TNA told Wrestle-1 that Sanada could defend the title as it wouldn't be happening on US TV for several weeks. This is a normal situation for US wrestling, but not for Japan and Wrestle-1 received several upset calls and letter accusing them of false advertising. As a result, Wrestle-1 announced that Sanada had lost the title and Muta won the eventual match.

TNA was reportedly not pleased that Wrestle-1 "spoiled" the title change. Sanada is expected to stay with TNA throughout the year.

Big Ladder Match Added to TNA Slammiversary, Updated Card

TNA has added to Slammiversary a huge six man ladder match for the X-Division Championship. Sanada will defending against TNA Tag Team Champions Eddie Edwards and Davey Richards, Tigre Uno, Crazy Steve and former X-Division Champion Manik who is making his return.

- Seiya Sanada retained the X-Division title at the April 17 Wrestle-1 even at the Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan. He defeated former X-Division champion Christopher Daniels.

Reported Plans for the TNA X-Division Championship

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that Seiya Sanada and Tigre Uno will be working an X-Division title program on Impact Wrestling in the coming months.

Why Seiya Sanada Won The X Division Title

The reason that TNA gave the X Division title to Seiya Sanada at the Outbreak event in Japan is because they are planning to bring back the high flying style of X Division matches.

Sanada will work with TNA for a few months, making him a regular on TV while he holds the title.

TNA championships to be defended at Wrestle-1 event

Wrestle-1 matchmaker Manabu Soya announced that three TNA championships will be defended at the Wrestle-1 event in Tokyo, Japan on March 2. The event will be broadcast as a TNA "One Night Only" pay-per-view later in the year.

The challengers for those title matches will be determined in a series of contender's matches that will take place at the February 15 event at Korakuen Hall. They are as follows:

- There will be a one-night tournament for a shot at the TNA World Title. First round will be KAI vs. Minoru Tanaka and Yasufumi Nakanoue vs. Masakatsu Funaki.

- There will be a battle royal for a shot at the X Division Title. The only announced participant for this match is Seiya Sanada. Sanada was originally scheduled to be in the heavyweight tournament but declined his spot, as he already challenged for the World Title last year and wants to be in the running for the X Division Title instead.

- Kaz Hayashi and Shuji Kondo will face any two members of the heel faction Desperado for a shot at the World Tag Team Titles.

Opinionated View-Looks like it should be a good card. TNA has done a great job of building Sabin up for his world title shot. They have promised some faces from the past in the X-Division stuff and Aries vs Roode is a rematch from last years Match of the Year that took place at last years Des X.
