Hulk Hogan Lawsuit Going to Trail

Hulk Hogan’s lawsuit against Gawker was discussed on Good Morning America today. Hogan is suing for $100 million after Gawker released his sex tape with Bubba the Love Sponge’s wife Heather Clem. The tape leaked in 2012 and was seen by two and a half million people before it was removed. The case is likely headed to trial, which makes Hogan the first celebrity to actually go to trial over a sex tape. Most of the lawsuits over sex tapes are either dropped or settled.
Hogan’s lawyer said: “The law says if somebody is in a private place, doing private things, they have a right to do that, and they have a right to not be filmed without their knowledge, and they have a right for that film not to be played to the world.”
While Hogan claims his privacy was violated, Gawker may have an edge. The website argues that since Hogan has made his sex life public through interviews over the years, he made the sex tape a newsworthy story. If they can successfully argue that the tape was news, they may be able to win the case.

Update on Hulk Hogan’s Sex Tape Lawsuit Against The Gawker

According to The Hollywood Reporter, here are the latest details regarding Hulk Hogan’s lawsuit against The Gawker. Gawker published a “highlight reel” of moments from a sex tape featuring Hogan and Heather Clem (wife of Bubba the Love Sponge) in 2012, which led to the lawsuit. Hogan claims that Gawker invaded his privacy, while the website claims that the footage was “newsworthy”. THR adds that the footage was watched over 2.5 million times.
Gawker is trying to defend that the clip they posted was “newsworthy,” and are now looking to introduce evidence to show that “Hogan has injected his sexual prowess into the public sphere” on several occasions. They cite Hogan, “fondling women’s breasts for a Rocky III publicity photo shoot and discussing in interviews where on a woman he likes to ejaculate, the size of his genitalia and the use of his mustache when performing oral sex.”
THR spoke with a legal expert who deals with celebrity sex tapes and images, and the expert says that if this case goes the distance (to a full legal decision) that this could change many cases of this type in Hollywood going forward. The expert also mentions that these cases are usually settled out of court.
Gawker has reportedly spent $1 million on the case, and could reportedly lose hundreds of millions if they were to lose. For Hogan, the threat of a public trial could damage his pubic persona. Hogan spoke to THR, stating the following about the case…
“I have never been afraid to fight for what I think is right, I promised in the beginning that I would see this through to the end to hold Gawker accountable. And I will.”

Hulk Hogan’s Sex Tape Lawsuit Could Cost Gawker $100 Million

Capital New York reports that Gawker Media could end up losing $100 million in its lawsuit against Hulk Hogan. The suit could force founder Nick Denton to sell the company or find outside investors.
Gawker published a “highlight reel” of moments from a sex tape featuring Hogan and Heather Clem (wife of Bubba the Love Sponge) in 2012. Hogan then sued Gawker later in the year. During a meeting earlier this month, Denton told his staff: “I have way, way less money than people think! … I don’t have hundreds of millions of dollars to kind of bail the company out. If we are in an environment with higher business risk and higher legal risk, then the company is going to need somebody with deeper pockets and hopefully principles in order to keep it both commercially viable and editorially viable.”
He also said that the possibility of the company closing due to the lawsuit is “unlikely but possible.” The lawsuit is scheduled to start on July 6.
Finally, he gave his thoughts on the matter in a blog post on Kinja. He wrote: “Without someone actually having the gumption to fight these cases, journalists might as well resign themselves to a role as liaisons for PR people and stenographers for celebrities. As I told Capital: The story was a real sober take on a version of events that [Hogan] had been talking about. If you don’t defend that, then what do you defend? You might as well just take the First Amendment and tear it up.“

Former WWE Superstar Caught Selling Unauthorized Photos Of Hulk Hogan?

It looks like Hulk Hogan's longtime friend Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake (Ed Leslie) has been selling unauthorized photos of The Hulkster.
Hogan posted a photo of the two on Twitter this weekend with the caption, "Back in the day when it was straight up brother." A fan replied, saying he met Leslie back in March at a signing and Leslie was selling 8x10 photos of Hogan. Hogan told the fan he never signed any 8x10 photos or gave them to Leslie to sell. Hogan told another Twitter user that this was a "shoot" and he was not working the fans. Below are the tweets:

Scott Steiner is calling BS on Hulk Hogan -- claiming he never threatened to kill the guy before WrestleMania ... and says Hulk's just acting like a scared little bitch.
We broke the story ... Steiner is under investigation over a March 26th encounter with Hulk's wife Jennifer -- when she claims Steiner grabbed her at the San Jose airport and told her he was going to kill Hogan. Jennifer and Hulk filed a report with police the next day.
"I'm not going to dignify [Hogan's] lies," Steiner said ... "I didn't put my hands on her."
Steiner says he did approach Jennifer that day -- but only to talk some serious smack about Hulk introducing "Macho Man" Randy Savage at his WWE Hall of Fame ceremony.
"I told her Hulk introducing 'Macho Man' into the Hall of Fame is bullsh*t ... He hated him. Everyone knew that."
Steiner says there were cops nearby during the airport incident -- "So if she felt her life was threatened, why didn't she talk to the cops?"
As far as the investigation goes, Steiner says he has NOT yet been contacted by police.
He did have one final thought -- "It's not my fault Hulk Hogan is afraid of me."
Ouch.

More Backstage News On Scott Steiner Being Banned From The WWE HOF, Incident With Hulk Hogan's Wife

PWInsider has confirmed through their sources that Scott Steiner was banned from the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony last Saturday and that there was an incident with Hulk Hogan's wife.
The decision to ban Steiner from the ceremony was made by WWE officials after Hulk requested that Steiner not be allowed in.
Steiner was reportedly on the same flight to San Jose that Hogan's wife Jennifer was on. While they were waiting for their luggage at baggage claim, Steiner allegedly approached Jennifer and threatened that the next time he saw Hulk, there would be problems. Hogan's wife apparently didn't even know who Steiner really was at the time so it was a shocking experience for her as you could imagine.
Hulk was telling people over the weekend that he had no idea why Steiner would approach his wife and didn't know that there were issues between the two.
We haven't heard Steiner's side of the story yet but it could have to do with Steiner's lawsuit with TNA that's still going on, which stems from Steiner's Twitter comments about TNA, Eric Bischoff, Hulk and his daughter Brooke Hogan.

Scott Steiner Was Banned From The WWE Hall of Fame Ceremony

- Former WCW, WWE and TNA star Scott Steiner was reportedly banned from the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony on Saturday night. According to reports, Steiner was in an altercation with Hulk Hogan’s wife Jennifer on an airplane that was described as “an ugly incident”. WWE posed security guards at all entrances on Saturday and were specifically told not to allow Steiner in.
The following has also made it onto Twitter, showing that photos of Steiner were posted around the venue so security would recognize him.

Update On Hulk Hogan’s RAW Appearance

As we previously reported, Hulk Hogan will appear on this Monday’s episode of RAW in San Antonio, Texas. It will be the night after WWE Hell in a Cell. Hogan has previously appeared on WWE.com and the WWE app in the last few weeks but will actually be live on the show this time.

Since this is the last Monday in October, it is believed that Hogan will make an announcement regarding Breast Cancer Awareness Month and the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

Byron Saxton said after Smackdown: “I’m sure he’ll be there donning his pink shirt, pink bandana, but what in the world will Hulk Hogan have to say live on RAW this Monday night? We’ll find out.”

Sting And Hulk Hogan Could Wrestle Retirement Matches At Wrestlemania 31

There could be a chance that both Hulk Hogan and Sting will wrestle retirement matches at Wrestlemania 31.

Hogan has said several times he wants to return to the ring for one more match, hinting at a desire to face John Cena. If Hogan can pass a physical, it’s believed that he could be used in some way. If WWE already has plans for Cena, they could come up with a different plan for Hogan.

Meanwhile, Sting has said that he also wants one more match and wants to work with either Triple H or the Undertaker.

WWE probably wouldn’t actually promote the matches as retirement matches on the show.

Opinionated View- NO! Hogan can barley climb up the steps to get in the ring. Sting look lost the last couple years and it was due to guys like Roode carrying him And I have had it with guys this old getting matches at Mania. Every year we had to put up with Taker and if the IWC would pull it's head out of its ass they would see he didn't have good matches no matter what they were saying. We don't' need Sting and Hogan

Hulk Hogan flew into Chicago with Jimmy Hart this morning and will be reportedly appearing on Raw tonight. It is believed that Hogan will be there as part of tonight’s launch of WWE’s annual campaign with the Susan G. Komen Foundation to battle breast cancer.

Why Are WWE Hall of Famers Set For Raw?

- As previously confirmed, Shawn Michaels, Ric Flair and Hulk Hogan are all set for this Monday's episode of WWE Raw, along with John Cena's return after his loss at SummerSlam. The reason that WWE is is stacking the deck for this episode of Raw is because the show is going up against the Primetime Emmy Awards, which will air on NBC.

This is the first time Raw has gone head-to-head with the award show, which always draws big viewership numbers.

Opinionated View- Maybe WWE should just put on good shows that people wouldn't want to miss. Hell if anything having these three on Raw discourages me from watching. I'm sick of guys old enough to be my grandpa showing up non stop on Raw.

WWE has announced that Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, and Shawn Michaels will appear at Monday's WWE Raw show in Anaheim, California. The trio will be discussing the Brock Lesnar vs. John Cena title match that has been announced as the main event of Night of Champions.

Hulk Hogan, Ken Jeong and David Hasselhoff Set For New WWE Studios Film

WWE sent out the following today, announcing the new WWE Studios film, Celebrity Death Pool. The movie will star Ken Jeong (The Hangover) and David Hasselhoff. Hulk Hogan is set to have a role in the film as well.

Hyde Park-Image Nation and WWE Studios team up for ‘Celebrity Death Pool' comedy

LOS ANGELES and STAMFORD, Conn. – Ashok Amritraj's Hyde Park Entertainment, Image Nation Abu Dhabi and WWE Studios announced that they are joining up again to co-produce a comedy with the working title "Untitled Celebrity Death Pool." Ken Jeong ("The Hangover," "Community") has signed on to star in the satire, which centers on a struggling nightclub owner whom, after amassing a large debt from a loan shark, sets out to win his long-running celebrity death pool by attempting to kill his chosen celebrity, David Hasselhoff. Darren Grant ("Diary of a Mad Black Woman") will direct from a script written by Peter Hoare.

In addition to Hasselhoff, legendary WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan and an increasing number of other celebrities have signed on for various supporting roles and cameo appearances. Pre-production for the film commences this September in Los Angeles, with a theatrical release anticipated for 2015.

WWE Studios President Michael Luisi and Hyde Park's Amritraj are producing the picture along with Hasselhoff, Michele Berk, Patrick Hughes and Warren Zide. Eric Gardner is Executive Producing. Hyde Park International will handle international sales with WWE Studios set to leverage its extensive multi-platform reach to promote the film.

Bradley Buchanan, SVP of Business Affairs, negotiated the deal on behalf of WWE Studios and Allen Babakhanloo, VP of Business Affairs, negotiated the deal on behalf of Hyde Park Entertainment.

Jeong is currently shooting "Ride Along 2″ with Ice Cube and Kevin Hart for Universal Pictures.

Update On Hulk Hogan Returning To The Ring At WrestleMania 31: Who Does He Want To Face?

- Hulk Hogan has been campaigning for a match at next year's WrestleMania, but WWE doesn't actually have anything planned for him. Hogan was said to be "going into business for himself" and trying to get interest in a return to wrestling. Hogan claims his back is no longer a problem and he wants to work with either John Cena or Steve Austin at WrestleMania 31. 

Opinionated View- Just give it up Hogan. Your to old your back is shot no matter what you want to claim. And a match with you vs Austin or Cena would suck.

What's WWE’s Mindset Over Hulk Hogan Wrestling Again?

 As previously reported, Hulk Hogan spoke in a radio interview about performing in another match in a WWE ring and said that he is training hard and in the best shape of his life. 

The Wrestling Observer reports that the mindset within WWE is that Hogan is retired wrestler and is a contracted company employee. The contract is specifically for public relations and being a brand ambassador, meaning that while he has to work a specific set of dates per month he isn't exclusive to WWE and can call his own shots on doing outside endeavors.
