TNA Announces Kurt Angle vs. EC3 TNA Title Match For July 1st

– TNA announced the following today, confirming that the Kurt Angle vs. Ethan Carter III TNA Title match will take place on the July 1st edition of Impact, and not on the June 28th Slammiversary PPV as many thought. The title match will actually be taped prior to the PPV, as TNA runs on a delay on June 24th and then tapes on June 25th, 26th, and 27th for six weeks of post Slammiversary TV…
When Kurt Angle and EC3 make their July 1st “Bell To Bell” World Championship Match official Wednesday Night on Destination America they will both agree to a unique clause in the contract. EC3 and Kurt Angle will choose each other’s opponents in the two weeks leading to their epic showdown. EC3 will have to sign the contract and later in the same night face an opponent of Kurt Angle’s choice.
As Champion, Kurt was given the option of deciding who would have the first match in this “Uncertain Fate” Clause. Was that the right decision? Let’s explore, with EC3 competing first it gives Angle an opportunity to scout and gives Kurt a much deserved night off after facing two opponents in Rockstar Spud and Austin Aries this past Wednesday night. On the other hand, it will give EC3 the night off just a week away from facing Kurt Angle for The World Title.
In any event, it is a very interesting time in Impact Wrestling, EC3 and Kurt Angle make it official at the start of Impact on Destination America, and EC3 will face an opponent whom we will all find out who it is together, when TNA World Champion, Kurt Angle tells us and EC3 at the same time.* June 17th: Kurt Angle and EC3 Sign The Contract For Their World Title Match on July 1st and later that night, EC3 faces an opponent of Kurt Angle’s choosing.

Jericho Defends DeMott Than Deletes Tweet, EC3 Comments

Chris Jericho quietly deleted a comment off of Twitter earlier today that he made yesterday in defense of NXT head trainer Bill DeMott based off of recent allegations made against DeMott by former NXT developmental talent Austin Matelson (Judas Devlin) about how DeMott treats talent in developmental. Jericho had tweeted the following:

"Hey @BillDeMott is a good friend & great trainer. If u can't handle it then quit. My training at #HartBrothers camp was 10,000 times worse!"

 

Jericho's comment led to former WWE star and current TNA wrestler EC3 (Derrick Bateman in WWE) to tweet out the following in response:

"I love/sacrificed for pro wrestling. A Hart can stretch me any day. A know nothing dipshit slapping me when I'm concussed is different."

 

Other former NXT developmental talent, including Ryan Nemeth (Briley Pierce), former WWE wrestler Trent Baretta and independent wrestler Joey Ryan have also commented on the situation in support of Matelson's claims.

Also today, another former NXT developmental talent, Drew Donovan (Chase Donovan), commented on the situation via Facebook with the following:

Everything coming out in this WWE Developmental fiasco is pretty much one hundred percent true. More people would speak out if it weren't for that "maybe they'll hire me back" mentality.

Not bitching, complaining, trying to correct an injustice, looking for a handout, or anything. Just saying. Now stop messaging me for confirmation and let me be depressed about turning 30.

WWE commented on the situation yesterday, releasing a statement that said they did a full investigation and couldn't find anything that supported Matelson's claims against DeMott.

Opinionated View- Further proof Jericho is a jackass. As I said yesterday there is line between being tough and being a jackass/bully. And to the "it was worse back in my day." Doesn't make it right. There are plenty of things in all walks of life we have seen the way it used to be done is wrong.

Hopefully WWE finally wises up and fired DeMott. Because for years stories like this have been coming out and it's about time he finally paid the price.

EFC3 and Abyss Sign New TNA Deals

TNA announced earlier today on Twitter via Executive VP of Talent Relations John "Big" Gaburick that Ethan Carter III and Abyss have re-signed with the company.

TNA announced the re-signing of TNA Hall of Famer Kurt Angle yesterday and has said that more re-signings will be announced later this week.

Opinionated View- Great to hear as I have been saying now that TV is in place TNA can lock everything into place with talent. Good hear Abyss is staying around even better to hear EC3 is staying the guy has main event level talent. Plus I'm sure Dixie would be pissed if they didn't take care of family. (Yes I know it's a joke)

Injury Update on EC3

TNA wrestler Ethan Carter III is scheduled to undergo surgery later today to repair a torn biceps according to a report by Mike Johnson. Carter's injury forced him to miss this past weekend's House of Hardcore iPPV in Philadelphia, where Carter was scheduled to wrestle Tommy Dreamer. It is said that Carter could be out of action for up to 6 months with this injury. 

Opinionated View- Damn six months that would be a long time to be without EC3. The good news is he can stay on TV in a manger role. Problem is he will lose some momentum and we won't' be able to have that big one on one match with Spud

Breaking News: Ethan Carter III Injured

TNA wrestler Ethan Carter III recently suffered a torn biceps according to a report by Mike Johnson. Carter was pulled earlier today from tomorrow night's 11/15 House of Hardcore VII iPPV at the former ECW Arena in Philadelphia, where he was scheduled to face Tommy Dreamer. House of Hardcore is working on a replacement for Carter for the iPPV tomorrow night. Carter is scheduled to undergo surgery on the torn biceps sometime next week, but its unknown as of this writing how long Carter will be out of action for.

Opinionated View- That really is to bad hopefully EC3 can recover quick.

Kurt Angle Pulled From TNA Lockdown

The following was issued on Impactwrestling.com today:

"TNA Wrestling officials have been informed that Kurt Angle has a torn MCL in his knee as a result of the attack by Ethan Carter on Thursday on IMPACT. Angle is scheduled to undergo surgery to repair his MCL today (Friday). As a result of this unfortunate injury, Kurt Angle will be unable to compete at Sunday's Lockdown Pay-Per-View event against EC3. Stay tuned to ImpactWrestling.com for more updates on Kurt Angle."

Opinionated View- Well it had been known Kurt needed surgery for a while and was putting it off. I wonder if he did something to aggravate it or he just could't put it off anymore as the pain got to bad. We will see what TNA does now with EC3. 

TNA High on EC3 and Rockstar Spud

- TNA reportedly is said to be very high on EC3 and Rockstar Spud at the moment. Both wrestlers have recently been working with TNA President Dixie Carter with Carter playing her nephew and Spud playing Dixie's Chief of Staff. Spud also won TNA British Bootc

Opinionated View- Good. I love Spud the guy has quickly become one the most entertaining parts of Impact. You get the feeling the guy just wants to go all in what ever the give him. EC3 has also quickly become a great part of the show. The guy gets good heat is solid on the microphone and wrestle very well.

Backstage News and Notes from Bound For Glory

The person who wrestled Ethan Carter III (Derrick Bateman) at last night's TNA Bound for Glory PPV by the name of Norv Fernum was current Californian independent wrestler "Pretty" Peter Avalon. Avalon currently wrestles for Championship Wrestling from Hollywood and Pro Wrestling Guerrilla. 

Mike Johnson is reporting that the name of the new TNA backstage interviewer who debuted on last night's TNA Bound for Glory PPV is Gil Corsey. Corsey is currently an anchor of the Louisville, Kentucky FOX affiliate news station. Corsey has also been a news anchor previously in North Carolina, Texas and West Virginia.
