Joey Ryan Hints at Legal Threats Over DeMott Situation

Joey Ryan has taken to Twitter to suggest that someone is trying to keep Bill DeMott’s accusers quiet by way of legal threats. Ryan, who has been a vocal critic of DeMott amidst allegations that the former WWE head trainer was physically and verbally abusive, took to Twitter today to suggest that lawsuits have been threatened over the situation:

It's so calm lately. Almost as if lawyers threatened to sue all of us if we kept telling the truth.

DeMott stepped down as head trainer after the allegations kept piling on and has maintained his innocence throughout.

Opinionated View- Well it wouldn't shock me. DeMott was in a powerful company and the WWE has never hesitated to use the law when the could. Also DeMott had to have some upper level friends to be in the position he was in. Plus in general WWE isn't going to want to keep having people say bad things about the company.

Now I should also say this. DeMott is out of the company for some that could be enough. And just the cycle of news is a story fires up. But after so long it fades away.

WWE Likely To Be Sued Over Bill DeMott Situation?

The WWE will likely have several lawsuits against it after the NXT training controversy and resignation of Bill DeMott. This is why WWE was careful to avoid admitting guilt in their statements about DeMott. Meanwhile, WWE likely gave DeMott a large severance package which includes a non-disclosure agreement. This could be why DeMott has publicly denied doing anything wrong and why he turned down an interview with NBC Orlando.

Several WWE employees were said to be aware of the complaints against DeMott but didn’t expect so many people to go public since many wrestlers hope to one day return to WWE. Allegedly when some of the talents were under contract to WWE, they claimed the stories about him were false when asked about it by WWE officials.

Opinionated View- As they should be. The stories you have heard about DeMott didn't just pop up recently. They have been going for years.

Reported Incident With Triple H, Bill DeMott, and Kevin Owens

Now that former NXT head coach Bill DeMott has left WWE, some stories are starting to come out about him. One has to do with the NXT Takeover: R Evolution event that took place back in December. DeMott was the agent for Kevin Owens' debut against CJ Parker.

The match we saw was the one that the three worked out. Between not liking Owens, the big guy, doing a flip dive and not wanting so many moves in the opening match, DeMott did not like the match.

Owens reportedly complained to Triple H about the match and Triple H just said to let Owens do what he wants. This led to a lot of jealousy due to Triple H's talents that he's trying to build NXT around being able to do what they want while everyone else is micro-managed and told not to wrestle the indie style matches that get over.

WWE News: Morale High in NXT, Performance Center Reaction to DeMott Being Gone, More

Morale among the NXT talent was reportedly very high after the Arnold Classic and house shows from the weekend. Those within the brand are said to be very exicted about live NXT shows and going on the road; WWE has holds on potential locations for as soon as May but the dates for touring have not yet been 100% locked down.
– The audience for the Cleveland NXT house show was said to be similar to the ECW audience in terms of being more of the male “smart” fans in their early twenties.
– Today being the first official day at the WWE Performance Center since Bill DeMott resigned, things have been mostly “just another day” at the center although there were said to be “a lot of smiles among the developmental team.” Those talents who didn’t like DeMott aren’t being overly vocal about his departure while training and nothing was said about the situation by any of the coaches or staff.
– There are reportedly outlets trying to get DeMott to do a shoot interview, although it isn’t known whether DeMott would have some kind of non-disclosure agreement in place with WWE that would prevent such a thing. Obviously most on-air talent don’t (thus the shoot interviews that come out after they leave) but with DeMott working in another department, it is conceivable that he may be under one.
– Adam Pearce is working as a guest trainer at the Performance Center this week.

Washington Post Picks Up Bill Demott Story

Marissa Payne of The Washington Post is featuring an article about Bill DeMott resigning as the head trainer for WWE at the Performance Center in Orlando.

The article features an official statement from WWE adding, "We accepted Bill DeMott's resignation." The company has avoided issuing an official statement and have instead directed all media (Wrestleview included) to DeMott's original tweet announcement.

Latest on DeMott Situation: Replacement Named, When He Resigned, More

PWInsider reports that Matt Bloom, aka Albert/Tensai, has been named the interim head trainer for WWE and will be taking over Bill DeMott’s responsibilities at the WWE Performance Center and in developmental. WWE Talent Relations employee Mark Carano announced the news in an email to the developmental talents after DeMott issues his public resignation.

The site adds that the feeling among developmental talents is somewhat “celebratory” as DeMott was not well-liked among them. At this time, WWE’s only public statement on DeMott is their retweeting of his resignation announcement.

The site notes that more names had come out backing up claims of DeMott’s abuse over the past day or so, such as Terra Callaway who claimed over Twitter that during a tryout five or six years ago, she witnessed DeMott using racist phrases and comments toward an unnamed wrestler of Middle Eastern ethnicity and that DeMott turned to her and “screamed at me from across the venue asking why I was not in the seminar. I arrived 30 min before it was scheduled to end and at the time did not have the funds. He continued to yell from across the venue at me as if I had done something wrong but I got in there for the last bit and did it without warming up, without stretching, just so I wouldn’t continue to be shouted at for no reason at all.”

DeMott’s last date for WWE was last night’s NXT TV taping. Nothing was said to the roster last night, suggesting that the resignation was decided on today. It is not known whether he made the decision on his own or if WWE influenced him to do so.

Breaking News: Bill DeMott Annouces Resignation From WWE

WWE NXT head trainer Bill DeMott posted the following on Twitter, announcing his resignation from the company as the head trainer of NXT developmental in light of allegations made against him over the last week by many former NXT developmental talent:

"I deny the recent allegations made about me, however, to avoid any embarrassment or damage to the WWE, I've decided to step down from my role effective immediately."

 

Attempts to contact WWE for an official statement were answered by reiterating the tweet sent out by DeMott on Friday afternoon.

Opinionated View- About time. As I have said from the start there is a fine line between being tough and being a bully. I have to assume even though DeMott says he is resining if he hadn't done it than WWE would have had to fire him. And the company just gave him abilty to say he stepped down. Now hopefully they don't bring him back and hopefually no other companies bring him in.

Another Bill DeMott Bullying Story Emerges

Just days after the likes of EC3, Trent Baretta, Briley Pierce, Judas Devil and several others spoke out about Bill Demott's bullying tactics and racial and sexual slurs, another name has shared a story.
Pro wrestler Terra Callaway shared a story on her Twitter account about DeMott harassing a wrestler of middle eastern descent while at a seminar years ago.

A transcript of Callaway's tweets, compiled by Reddit user CrystalFissure is below:
"As someone who has been bullied my entire childhood and even more so now as an adult, I stand behind those who do something about it.

At a training seminar, where students paid $100 a person to be in the ring & learn, I witnessed DeMott call a Middle Eastern trainee "Aladdin", "terrorist", and "fat f-ck" multiple times. During a bump drill that was nowhere near safe for a green trainee to be doing, he just embarrassed and humiliated him. When anyone else did the drill correctly, he'd turn to this guy and just bash him. When I did the drill, he said "Look, even the girl can bump better than the terrorist!". This continued to the end of the session where he told everyone good job, except this guy, and told him to "f-cking quit and go back to building bombs." It was completely uncalled for and made everyone uncomfortable.

This guy spent his hard earned money to learn from someone, to get better only to be told to quit and have all these names and insults thrown at him. I have been, and continue to be bullied and I cannot just keep quiet when the world is finally trying to do something about it. To fix it. To save lives.
Even with me, he screamed at me from across the venue asking why I was not in the seminar. I arrived 30 min before it was scheduled to end and at the time did not have the funds. He continued to yell from across the venue at me as if I had done something wrong but I got in there for the last bit and did it without warming up, without stretching, just so I wouldn't continue to be shouted at for no reason at all. It's just sad that this is what people have come to. That's all I have to say. This was all like 5-6 years ago, before I had ever stepped foot in a ring to wrestle. It was a long time ago, but some things never change."

The 24-year old Callaway has wrestled professionally since 2010, including for LuchaPro and Vegas Championship Wrestling.

Over the course of today, there has been new comments from former NXT developmental talent involving allegations made against NXT head trainer Bill DeMott for his treatment of talent during their time in developmental.

 * On Reddit today, an interview recap was posted from the Vendetta Pro radio show with Austin Matelson (Judas Devilin) about his dealings with DeMott that can be viewed by clicking here.
* Drew Donovan (Chase Donovan) added the following about DeMott from his previous comments made yesterday on Facebook:

"A certain point comes where you just lose respect for a dude for NOT punching someone in the face. Nude top rope squats is pretty much that point. Luckily I must have missed that day."

* Brian Beaker (Brandon Traven) posted the following statement on his Twitter today via a series of posts about DeMott, saying he would reveal more during a podcast interview that will take place this weekend:

"I haven't said anything publicly on the issue regarding my name on certain things. However I will discuss it on my next podcast, which will drop Sunday March 8th. I never set out to seek attention positive or negative, the story was leaked by someone else. I was happy living my life being an Indy wrestler, having a podcast and spending time with my family which I had missed for 6 years. I've been getting a lot texts, messages calls etc. about my time with WWE when I was Brandon Traven...everything will be address (sic) on my own podcast so that you get the story from me and know one else. But know this, I leaked nothing it was sent out without my knowledge, I am not bitter. In fact I'm very happy with my life now, if you have listened to my podcast before you know I'm in a good place. But, what's out is out. And it will be addressed this Sunday."

* Finally, Ryan Nemeth (Briley Pierce) posted the following on Twitter, responding to people who assumed that these allegations made by the former NXT talent where sent in to WWE after they were released from the company:

"To help correct you- No, those letters did NOT come from "former talent." The kids turned them in to @WWE formally while under contract."

 

Opinionated View- Maybe this is finally it. Maybe this is the time WWE can't just look the other way and DeMott finally goes away.

Tommy Dreamer Comments on The Allegations Against Bill DeMott

Tommy Dreamer recently spoke to Buster Open Radio about the recent allegations of abuse against NXT trainer Bill DeMott. Here are the highlights…
“I ran the WWE developmental center, I ran OVW, and I ran Deep South. I like to say that wrestling training is different. When I was trained by Johnny Rodz, I was stretched in holds to the point of crying. I remember sometimes driving back on the BQE, and my hands were literally shaking, because I was stretched. I was pushed to a peak physically. With that being said, that is training. I think there could be some merit, but it doesn’t help that these accusations are coming from ex-talent. Because then it looks like its sour grapes. It would have to come from someone, and no one would speak up, if they are current talent or just walked away. I walked away from the WWE because I was not happy. I was not happy, not happy because of something that anybody did to me. I just wasn’t happy at my job, so then I walked away.
Training is hard. This business is very, very hard. I have my own wrestling school. I don’t believe in going in and beating people up, but Bubba Ray and Lance Storm have schools as well, and they will look at it and say “if some of these people were actually in a real fight, or beat up, they would learn how to sell.”When I was there, I had one problem with the WWE developmental center. I went down there and kicked everyone out. I said “guys, gals, I hired each and every one of you. I need to know if something is wrong so I can fix if for you. If you don’t want to tell me, you can tell me privately.” I handed every single one of them, all sixty of them clipboards with my hotel and you can meet me privately. Not one person stepped up. If there was a problem I had with Bill DeMott, or any of my trainers, I would go to my boss, who would then go to Vince McMahon. When I did have a problem with Bill, I said let’s put a video camera in there. They said “ok, no problem.” I never had a problem with Bill personally or professionally, and I do think he is a good trainer. Not all coaches like their players. I’ve seen on Twitter people stick up for Bill, and I have seen people not stick up for Bill. Everybody’s situation is different. If there were homophobic slurs, then yes that has to be addressed. I know that when he worked for me, everything that I asked, he did. I had a problem where someone brought up racism. I said “hey let me hear it”. Then no one said anything. I was willing to help you. There were no ramifications, no ramifications whatsoever. Let me cure this problem, then there would have been no problems.”

Former Developmental Talent Claims Bill DeMott Kept a Gun in His Desk – Was Afraid DeMott Would Snap

Former WWE Developmental talent Austin Matelson recently spoke with Vendetta Pro Radio about his issues with Bill DeMott while a part of the WWE Developmental system. Among the claims in the interview are that trainer Bill DeMott kept a gun in his desk, and that it made him afraid. Here are highlights of the interview, courtesy of  reddit.com…
* He claims to have emails from talent relations that prove they did not do a full investigation.
* Talent relations wrote to him that, “the talent he named corresponded to a bottom five list to be fired.” This seemed to coincidental to be true and if they (the talent) wanted to tell their story to call them (talent relations) because, “that’s what real men do”.
* Talent relations betrayed Judas’s trust and told Coach Bill Demott of his letter.
* Coach Demott interrogated Judas in his office, where Judas claims, that he held a gun inside his desk that talent such as Konnor and Russev had also previously seen.
* Judas being alone with the man he claimed was the bully, denied Bill Demotts questions in fear of his life.
* This denial led talent relations to drop the investigation into his account as they felt he was not speaking the truth to both sides.
* Judas claims that telling Bill Demott he sent documents to get him fired could have led Bill to hurt him, maybe even snap and use the gun. Judas was frightened and felt completely alone in the matter.
* Judas claims that only a handful of talent was called about the matter and afraid to come forward because their careers depended on silence.
* No talent has once denied that any of Judas’s claims are true.
* Judas claims that after his first rushed surgery a talent meeting was held with Bill Demott and talent relations and they asked anyone with a problem to stand up. Only Paige stood up to complain about harassment from the strength coach.
* Judas Claims the month after Bill found out about his human resources letter was complete hell.
* Bill Demott stopped talent from riding to shows with Judas.
* Bill Demott began to use “Judas’s HR letter” as a punchline with talent at practice-
Demott called Judas a Pussy for writing this complaint.
* Judas claims to be very offended by the continual use of anti-gay language by Coach Bill Demott.
* He claimed that he was pitched as a member of the Wyatt family by Dusty Rhodes but Bill allegedly said “Judas was too gay for that spot”.
* Judas then was rushed into two hip surgeries without being given a full medical investigation.
* Judas was then paid to live in Los Angeles and rehab for almost 2 years and could not speak out for fear of losing his healthcare.
* Judas was on the verge of early retirement based on WWE medicals opinions but went to his own doctor and received a spinal MRI.
* This separate doctor told Judas that he had a herniated disc causing symptoms in his hip.
* Judas attempted to take this MRI to WWE lawyers but they wanted nothing to do with it.
* Judas parted ways with company this past fall and began his own rehab on his back-
 Now Judas claims he is 100 percent healthy and has a second chance at wrestling, and wants to help future talent avoid the pitfalls that he went through.
* Judas implores WWE and talent to speak up against the ongoing injustices of Bill Demott. Saying “Silence makes losers of us all”

Jericho Defends DeMott Than Deletes Tweet, EC3 Comments

Chris Jericho quietly deleted a comment off of Twitter earlier today that he made yesterday in defense of NXT head trainer Bill DeMott based off of recent allegations made against DeMott by former NXT developmental talent Austin Matelson (Judas Devlin) about how DeMott treats talent in developmental. Jericho had tweeted the following:

"Hey @BillDeMott is a good friend & great trainer. If u can't handle it then quit. My training at #HartBrothers camp was 10,000 times worse!"

 

Jericho's comment led to former WWE star and current TNA wrestler EC3 (Derrick Bateman in WWE) to tweet out the following in response:

"I love/sacrificed for pro wrestling. A Hart can stretch me any day. A know nothing dipshit slapping me when I'm concussed is different."

 

Other former NXT developmental talent, including Ryan Nemeth (Briley Pierce), former WWE wrestler Trent Baretta and independent wrestler Joey Ryan have also commented on the situation in support of Matelson's claims.

Also today, another former NXT developmental talent, Drew Donovan (Chase Donovan), commented on the situation via Facebook with the following:

For the record,

Everything coming out in this WWE Developmental fiasco is pretty much one hundred percent true. More people would speak out if it weren't for that "maybe they'll hire me back" mentality.

Not bitching, complaining, trying to correct an injustice, looking for a handout, or anything. Just saying. Now stop messaging me for confirmation and let me be depressed about turning 30.

WWE commented on the situation yesterday, releasing a statement that said they did a full investigation and couldn't find anything that supported Matelson's claims against DeMott.

Opinionated View- Further proof Jericho is a jackass. As I said yesterday there is line between being tough and being a jackass/bully. And to the "it was worse back in my day." Doesn't make it right. There are plenty of things in all walks of life we have seen the way it used to be done is wrong.

Hopefully WWE finally wises up and fired DeMott. Because for years stories like this have been coming out and it's about time he finally paid the price.

WWE Developmental Head Trainer Bill DeMott Under Fire Again

WWE's developmental head trainer Bill DeMott facing another round of allegations from former a developmental wrestler. The latest comments were made by Austin Matelson, who wrestled as Austin Draven and Judas Devlin, during an appearance on the Vendetta Pro Radio 2K15 show.

Matelson also released a memo he sent to WWE officials Canyon Cemen, Dorothy Brill, and Jane Geddes on March 11, 2013 detailing his allegations. He alleged that he participated in drills that "were hazardous to our safety," an unprofessional work environment, the use of homophobic slurs and other derogatory comments. WWE issued the following statement on Tuesday following a request for comment. "WWE took the accusations made two years ago by Austin Matelson very seriously, conducted a full investigation and was unable to validate the claims. Regardless, WWE continues to reinforce policies and procedures to ensure a positive training environment."

Opinionated View- Accusations like this have been around DeMott for a long time. Sadly it never sticks.

NXT investigation regarding claims made against Bill DeMott, statement issued by WWE

WWE conducted an investigation stemming from claims made by former developmental workers regarding NXT head trainer Bill DeMott. Chase Donovan and Chad Baxter appeared on a recent "Two And A Half Wrestlers" podcast hosted by Kevin Matthews, and the trio told a secondhand story about DeMott pulling out a gun in front of trainees, a firsthand accounts of DeMott using a homophobic slur during training sessions, and made other accusations. 

"There have been no sexual harassment complaints filed against any employee at the WWE's training facility in Orlando," reads a statement issued to Prowrestling.net by WWE. "Instead there have been baseless allegations made by disgruntled talent recently released by WWE. Regardless, WWE takes these issues seriously and investigated this matter, concluding that there was no wrongdoing."

Opinionated View- We have heard stories like about DeMott for years. I was shocked when WWE brought him back. But I don't think this will lead to anything why WWE never wants bad PR unless someone in the real press jumps on the story this will fade quickly.
