More on the Briscoes Re-Signing With ROH

In a follow up to the news this week about Jay and Mark Briscoe signing new two year deals with Ring of Honor, a new report by Dave Meltzer has revealed that WWE had extended an offer to both more than a month ago.

The Briscoe's informed ROH about the WWE offer and ROH was able to beat the offer. When The Briscoe's went back to Canyon Ceman of WWE about the new ROH offer, Ceman informed them that WWE wasn't going to give them a new offer and they stayed.

The Briscoe's are expected to take part in multiple New Japan tours under the new ROH deal.

Opinionated View- Given this is by Dave I am calling BS on most. ROH beat the WWE in an offer. Yeah right by all reports ROH is supposed to slash its budget. It sounds more like the WWE wised up and lost interest in the no talent spot monkeys. And New Japan wants them... I'll just point out if New Japan wanted them than why not book them before. That's right because only ROH is stupid enough to keep booking them.

Latest on The Briscoes Possibly Going to WWE

It was previously reported that WWE is showing more interest in picking up ROH talent, and that they had expressed an interest in Mark and Jay Briscoe. Pwinsider (via Rajah.com) reports that the Briscoes are not expected to sign with WWE at any point in the near future. More on the story as it develops.

Tag Team Match Annoucned For ROH Georgia Show

Mark & Jay Briscoe will face The Kingdom (Michael Bennett & Matt Taven w/ Maria Kanellis) in a two out of three falls "tag team Armageddon" match at the North Atlanta Trade Center in Norcross, Georgia on Saturday, February 21st. Regular tag team rules apply for the first fall. The second fall will be a tables match and the third and final fall will be falls count anywhere.

Opinionated View- FUCK YOU ROH. This feud is super stale and oh we get another match that will allow the Briscoes to brawl do all there bad high spots. And I bet no matter what happens this damn feud will be over after it.

Mark Briscoe Final Entrent For ROH Titel Tournament

Opinionated View- Well this is interesting. The real question is if this is Mark making one final appearance or a comeback. I have to say I am very unimpressed by the tournament names. There are some good talents but over all it's just weak.

Opinionated View- This could just be that Jay will return to drop the title or he and Mark aren't leaving or the fans backlash convinced ROH to keep them around.

ROH Issues Kayfabe Statement on The Briscoes

The following statement was issued by Ring of Honor regarding Jay and Mark Briscoe.

Last weekend in Baltimore was a physically brutal one for both World Champion Jay Briscoe and his “Best in the World 2013” challenger Mark Briscoe. The brothers tore into one another in one of the more physical championship battles and it ultimately required Jay to utilize multiple Jay Drillers in order to put his brother down for the three count. Unfortunately, as a result of those maneuvers and the general punishment suffered in the bout, Mark Briscoe was forced out of his spot in the Steel Cage Warfare bout that went down during the following day's “Ring of Honor Wrestling” TV Tapings.

As for Jay, the day of those tapings he defended his title once again, this time against S.C.U.M's Matt Hardy and although he was victorious in the bout, following the match the champion was viciously assaulted with a steel chair by S.C.U.M and left laying.

Unfortunately, ROHWrestling.com has since learned that, as a result of the injuries sustained during “Best in the World” weekend, both Jay and Mark will be out of action indefinitely. Mark suffered severe head trauma as a result of the bout with his brother while Jay apparently has a fractured shoulder and torn rotator cuff coming from the assault at the hands of S.C.U.M. At this point it is unknown how long Jay and Mark will be out of action but we will stay on top of the story to provide you with details as they are made available to us.

ROHWrestling.com also contacted Match Maker Nigel McGuinness for an update on how this would affect the championship held by Jay Briscoe and he informed us that there will be an announcement made soon regarding the status of the ROH World Title. Nigel did inform us that he intended to announce this week that Michael Elgin would receive his championship opportunity on August 3rd in Toronto but now that is in question. ROHWrestling.com has hear rumors that with Elgin scheduled to be the next man in line for a shot, he may be the World Title due to forfeit.

Opinionated View- Nice to see ROH finally say something about there world champion and the man that just got a title shot leaving the company. But I don't know if doing a Kayfabe statement  will do much there a lot of ROH fans that upset about his.

Jay and Mark Briscoe are no longer with Ring of Honor, asPWTorch.com's Sean Radican and James Caldwell report that their contracts with the company have expired and will not be renewed at this time. The story also states that executives at Sinclair Broadcasting, the ROH parent company, only recently became aware of Jay's controversial tweets regarding homosexuality and gay marriage.

Report Say The Briscoe Brother Are Done With ROH

All signs are pointing that Mark and Jay Briscoe have wrestled for the last time in Ring of Honor. Yes, that Jay Briscoe, the ROH World Champion. Ring of Honor did not have Mark Briscoe appear on the TV taping on Sunday. They ran an angle that he had been injured the night before against Jay Briscoe leading to Kevin Steen getting involved in the Steel Cage Warfare match that was the main event of the tapings and what ROH built up to in thr 4 weeks of TV. However, Ring of Honor also did an angle where, after defeating Matt Hardy, to retain the ROH Championship, Jay Briscoe was attacked by Hardy and Steve Corino and a couple of other heels and laid out and beaten down..pretty much destroyed and it was described to be as a heavy, heavy, heavy angle. And in speaking to a number of Ring of Honor sources, over the last 12 hours or so, that was the last scheduled appearance for either Briscoe brother for the forseeable future. There is talk they may be departing the company and at the very least they will be on a hiatus for some time. This has nothing to do with the Jay Briscoe Twitter incident, it was something arranged way prior to this PPV & TV taping. The story making the rounds is that they were leaving for greener pastures, but they may not be leaving. Atthe very least they will be on a hiatus and what the hell this means for the ROH Championship, your guess is as good as mine. Common sense would dictate that Briscoe will be stripped of the belt if he is not coming back or if he's going to be on an extended hiatus, similar to TNA stripping Rob Van Dam of his championship in 2010.

Opinionated View-  I have made it clear over the years I am not a Briscoe Brother fans. I have never gotten the big deal about them or why they get so much praise. But for ROH not to have Jay drop the title before he leaves is insane you could have had Hardy win it or hell you don't want Hardy plenty of set up to have a Adam Cole win or heck do Mania 9 booking if you want a face champion.

I know a while back there a report WWE was interested in Jay and Mark but I just can't see them lasting they worked for TNA for a brief time but I have never heard of any real interest in brining them back. I guess it could be Japan or Mexico if they are leaving.
