WWE is reportedly unhappy with Ring of Honor and Figure Toy Company’s recent Kevin Steen action figure release. With Owens’ being WWE’s biggest new star, the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that the company isn’t pleased that a non-WWE company was the first to release an action figure since Owens hit the main roster, especially considering that the Steen and Owens characters look essentially the same.
WWE officials are now trying to prevent this from happening in the future and are considering how to get guys with big potential into NXT and thus signed to merchandising deals before they go to ROH or TNA, companies with merchandising deals. Complicating that is the fact that a lot of indie talent, including several who have tried out for WWE in the past few weeks, have signed five year deals with Figure Toy Company.
This also means that the plan is not to sign talent from ROH or TNA for the main roster and to spread the word that young talent with WWE aspirations should not sign with either company. One person said that this came about because of both the Figure Toy Company deal and the ROH/Destination America deal, both of which came about at the same time and WWE had no advance knowledge of. The plan may not apply to talent signed and kept in NXT, as there is some interest in some of the TNA guys whose contracts are expiring to work in the developmental brand and it isn’t the same as the main roster.

Kevin Steen's NXT Debut Annouced
During today's 11/20 WWE NXT on the WWE Network, a vignette was shown for the impending debut of the former Kevin Steen, now known as Kevin Owens. The end of the vignette showed the date 12-11-14, which is the date of the next NXT live special on the WWE Network, entitled "NXT Takeover: Our Evolution." So that would appear to be when Steen will debut on NXT TV.

Update on Kevin Owens’ Upcoming NXT Debut
The Wrestling Observer reports that WWE NXT is gearing up for the upcoming debut of Kevin Owens, aka Kevin Steen. Vignettes have reportedly already been taped for his upcoming NXT debut.
According to the report, Steen “worked out in front of HHH individually.” His debut is expected to happen at the upcoming NXT Takeover special on December 11 or the next set of TV tapings for NXT the following night on December 12.

WWE Preparing For Kevin Steen's NXT Debut
WWE has begun filming promos & vignettes for the impending debut of Kevin Steen onto the NXT TV show according to a report by Mike Johnson. Steen will be going under the name "Kevin Owens" on NXT TV as WWE applied for that as a trademark last week. It is said that Steen will debut on either the next NXT live special on the WWE Network on December 11 or the TV Tapings the following day on December 12, which will both be held at Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida.

Update On Kevin Steen’s NXT Debut
- Kevin Steen will get his new WWE name in the near future and is expected to make his NXT TV in-ring debut by the end of the year. The last set of tapings ended with the November 6th episode, so if he does debut by the end of the year, it will be after that.

ROH TV Report: Kevin Steen's Final Show
Kevin Steen says that when he was 11 years old, his dad put in a VHS tape of a wrestling show and it changed his life. At that point, he wanted to be a wrestler. Ring of Honor has given him that opportunity for the last seven years. He is proud of everything that he has accomplished, but a big part of that dream is a man by the name of Steve Corino. Since they first met ten years ago, Steve has taken him under his wing.
There have been times when they have been on opposite sides of the ring, but Steve was helping him. Those matches shaped who Kevin is now. That is why he chose Steve to be his final opponent in Ring of Honor. He is honored, but don’t think that he will take it easy on Steve. He is going out with a win.
We are in Dearborn, Michigan and your announcers are Kevin ‘Farewell Mr. Steen’ Kelly and Nigel ‘Au Revoir Kevin’ McGuinness.
Match Number One: ACH versus Tadarius Thomas (with Adam Page and Jimmy Jacobs)
Instead of the Code of Honor being followed, Jacobs spits water in ACH’s face.
They lock up and Thomas with a side head lock but ACH with a take down and float over. Thomas and ACH with a series of reversals and ACH rolls away. Jacobs tries to distract and intimidate ACH. ACH with a side head lock and shoulder tackle. ACH with a handspring and back flip and then Thomas with a head scissors but ACH lands on his feet.
Thomas with a kick to the midsection followed by a forearm. Thomas with an Irish whip and a running back elbow in the corner. Thomas with more elbows in the corner. ACH blocks a hip toss but Thomas with an arm drag. ACH with an uppercut to Thomas. ACH goes for a flip clothesline but Thomas with a bridge into a crab walk position. Thomas with a head scissors that sends ACH to the floor.
Thomas sets for a dive to the floor but ACH moves and Thomas lands on the apron and poses for the crowd. ACH goes for Thomas on the apron but Thomas with a cartwheel to the floor. ACH goes to the apron and he hits a running kick to the chest and ACH poses for the crowd.
ACH goes to the floor and he chops Thomas against the apron. ACH with another chop while the referee continues his count. They return to the ring and he chops Thomas. Thomas with an Irish whip but Ach goes to the apron and ACH with a shoulder. ACH goes for a slingshot move but Thomas with a kick that sends ACH to the floor. Thomas tries for a baseball slide but ACH rolls back into the ring. ACH goes for a suicide dive but Thomas moves and he kicks ACH in the chest as ACH crashes and burns into the guardrails.
Thomas with a chop against the guardrails followed by a kick that sends ACH into the front row as we go to commercial.
We see highlights from Steen’s match against Nigel McGuinness at Northern Navigation in 2008.
We also see footage from Steen’s victory over Davey Richards at Border Wars 2012 to become the Ring of Honor World Champion.

ACH tries for a Yakuza Kick in the corner but Thomas moves to the apron. Thomas with a round kick and then he comes back into the ring. ACH misses a series of kicks and then Thomas misses a kick, but Thomas does not miss with a forearm to the head. Thomas with a German suplex and bridge for a near fall.
Thomas with a waist lock to pick up ACH. Thomas goes for a half nelson German suplex but ACH backs him into the corner. ACH runs into a boot. Thomas with a back heel kick followed by a half nelson German suplex for a near fall. Thomas tries for a snap mare but ACH holds on to the ropes. Thomas climbs the turnbuckles and hits a swinging neck breaker from the top turnbuckle but he can only get a near fall. Thomas is told to break ACH’s jaw and ACH is put against the ring post. Thomas goes for a running boot into the corner but ACH moves and Thomas crotches himself in the turnbuckles. Thomas falls to the floor and ACH with a Fosbury Flop onto Thomas. ACH rolls Thomas back into the ring and he goes for a 450 splash but he misses, but he is able to roll through. Thomas with an elbow in the corner followed by a back heel kick. ACH with a leaping kick into the corner and then he goes up top again and hits the 450 splash for the three count.
Winner: ACH
After the match, Jacobs, Whitmer, and Page enter the ring while ACH goes to the floor. Whitmer says that Thomas is an embarrassment and then they slap Page for Thomas’ loss. Page stands up to Jacobs and Thomas stands up to Whitmer and then they are told to leave the ring and they comply with Jimmy and BJ’s orders.
We see a video package for Cedric Alexander showing his feud with Roderick Strong and his victory in the Golden Gauntlet to become the number one contender.
We will see Cedric’s match against Michael Elgin for the Ring of Honor Title in two weeks.

Update on When Kevin Steen Will Report to WWE NXT
Former Ring of Honor and independent wrestling star Kevin Steen will officially start with WWE's NXT developmental system on 8/25 in Orlando at the WWE Performance Center. WWE is well aware of the fact that Kevin Steen has the potential to do big things in the company. There was some initial concern by some about how Steen might be treated after word broke that he had signed, but the company realizes his potential and knows what they have with him.

WWE Officially Signs Kevin Steen
WWE.com has a new interview up where they officially announce the signing of independent star Kevin Steen to NXT. Steen is most known for his time in Ring of Honor and Pro Wrestling Guerrilla, winning the ROH World Title in 2012. Steen has also worked for independent promotions 2CW, AAW, AIW, Beyond Wrestling, CZW, CHIKARA, House of Hardcore, SMASH Wrestling and many others throughout his career. In the interview, Steen mentions he begins reporting to the WWE Performance Center for NXT on August 25.

- Ring of Honor's Summer Heat tour continues this weekend with shows on Friday and Saturday.
On Friday, July 18, ROH arrives at the the Masonic Center in Cincinnati, Ohio. The show includes ROH champion Michael Elgin vs. Roderick Strong, Kevin Steen vs. Silas Young in a No DQ match, ACH & Cedric Alexander & Caprice Coleman vs. BJ Whitmer & Tadarius Thomas & Adam Page, Adam Cole & Michael Bennett vs. Christopher Daniels & Frankie Kazarian plus ROH Tag Team Champions reDRagon, The Briscoes, Tommaso Ciampa, Rocky Romero, War Machine, Matt Taven, Roderick Strong & Jimmy Jacobs.
The next night on July 19 in Dearborn, Michigan, ROH has a show at the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center. The card includes Kevin Steen's final ROH match against Steve Corino, Adam Cole vs. Rocky Romero and ACH vs. Tadarius Thomas.

Kevin Steen Announces His Final Shows With Ring of Honor
Ring of Honor has posted a new video in which Kevin Steen announces that the July 12, 18 and 19 shows will be his last with the company. He thanked the company for all they've done for him and announced his final three opponents, which he was allowed to choose.
In Hopkins, Minnesota, he'll fight Tommaso Ciampa, who he's never wrestled in a singles match. In Cincinnati, Ohio, he'll fight Silas Young in a No Disqualification match. It's a rematch from Best in the World. In his final show in Dearborn, Michigan, he'll fight his mentor Steve Corino. Corino will be coming out of retirement for the match.

Opinionated View- Ciampa and Young should be good matches. I know Corino and Steen are close but does anyone really want to see Steve Corino wrestle again?

Kevin Steen Signs With WWE
Steen will likely finish his independent bookings in the next few weeks, as he's still advertised for shows through the rest of this month. It's unknown when he will report to the NXT Performance Center.
Opinionated View- On the one hand I'm happy for Steen who is a great wrestler. Been working hard for years and seems like an awesome dude from what I can tell. On the other hand I'm worried WWE is going to blow it. Give him a dumb gimmick or stick in NXT for way to long.

Two Indy Stars Expected To Be Signed to WWE Deals
Opinionated View- Both are great talent but I really worry about Steen. I feel WWE will strip away everything that makes him cool and fun to watch. Also (and I don't' want to bash the guy just making a point) they didn't think Chris Hero was in good enough shape. Yet they hire the much heavier set Steen. And yes I know Steen has dropped some weight lately.

Roderick Strong Does Well at Recent WWE Tryout - Who Else Attended?
Reports say that both Steen and Strong did well, but that Strong impressed both in the ring and with his speaking skills.
At this time there are no updates on if any of the talents have been offered contracts. Most times it takes four to six weeks for talents to be informed of they will be offered a deal or not.
Opinionated View- Are there more than one wrestlers using the name Roderick Strong? OR did WWE mess up and think someone else was Strong? I mean that only explanation I could get for him impressing as a talker. Of course WWE was stupid enough to pass on the Wolves.

Major ROH Stars At Next WWE Tryout Camp
- ROH wrestlers Roderick Strong and Kevin Steen are said to be considered likely candidates for the next WWE NXT tryout camp at the WWE Peformance Center in Orlando, Florida. Strong and Steen are reportedly confirmed to take part of the tryout, which is set for March 24-March 26. In addition, indy wrestling worker Michael Elgin is also trying to get into the tryout camp, but there is no definitive word as to whether he will be a part of it.
Opinionated View- all three guys have talent and could be signed. Now with Strong he's weak on the microphone can very repeative in the ring and if the WWE didn't want The Wolves I can't see them taking Strong. Steen doesn't have the WWE look now that's part of his gimmick and appeal but I could see missing that. Elgin has a great look but he's not that tall and to the WWE that could be a strike against him.
