Main Event For ROH 13th Anniversary Show PPV

Ring of Honor has announced that the main event for their 13th Anniversary PPV will be a “High Stakes Four Corner Survival” match for the ROH World Title. The match will see Jay Briscoe defend the belt against Michael Elgin, Tommaso Ciampa and Hanson.

The move comes after a three-way #1 contenders match between Elgin, Ciampa and Hanson ended in a disqualification, which left the promotion without a top contender. ROH’s 13th Anniversary show takes place on March 1st in Las Vegas and will air on PPV.

Opinionated View- Ciampa and Elgin are awesome but they aren't good enough to over come having Briscoe and Hanson in the same match.

Michael Elgin posts email from ROH threatening him with legal action

ROH wrestler Michael Elgin posted the following email to his Facebook page, claiming it is from Ring of Honor:
"Hey,
We already have the flight bought (which you should have gotten already). No room to eat the costs. It will all be fine and you can come back and get back to normal. There is really no choice because if you are not in Florida it will get messy and we don't want that.
We want to finish this out and then we can see what to do next.
In Florida we will do a match and an interview. In the interview you need to apologize and be sure to reference Kalamazoo by name since it is a TV market. Do NOT mention the visa situation. Just say that you have had personal issues that kept you away. Reference the World Title and say you respect Jay Briscoe. It doesn't need to be long but we need to make sure you talk about your remorse for missing events, etc.
Lets just do this the easy way and get through the tapings starting fresh. You have been great here for the last couple years and it is in all of our best interests to keep it going like it was before. I don't want to see you make another mistake so it is best to listen to us in this regard."

Opinionated View- If this is for real Elgin shouldn't have posted it. But damn who ever wrote this is a jackass. You do't want him to mention the visa even though everyone already knows about it. And Elgin has made it clear he blames ROH for this Visa situation that caused him to miss the events.

Michael Elgin Posts Message to Fans After Quitting ROH on Twitter

- Michael Elgin posted the following on Facebook, commenting on quitting ROH on Twitter yesterday…

I first want to say thank you to all the supporters out there, it has been my pleasure to perform for you.

I want to admit the quitting on twitter is a little childish but I don’t want to be advertised for a show I won’t be a part of.

I will give kudos to ROH for rushing to get me back home, for that I am grateful. I had numerous conversations with the company about all situations that have occurred and told them my stance. I was trying to be business minded and was trying to reach a full understanding that would allow both parties to move forward.

Nothing was agreed upon and instead of trying to reach an agreement they announced me for this weekends upcoming shows.
I would not have taken to twitter in this matter as I have held my tongue this entire time. I feel everything that has went down is between the parties involved and no one else. In all that I just don’t want to have people thinking I’ll be somewhere I won’t be.

I love professional wrestling, i have given almost 14 years to it and wouldn’t change it for the world. It’s my passion and what has drove me to become the man I am today. I love and respect Professional wrestling with the upmost regard. Thank you for supporting it and please continue to do so.

Opinionated View- There is a chance this is a work but it could also be real. Report said Elgin blamed ROH for his visa issues and he was unhappy with how they were with his baseball comments and him being unhappy with how they were booking him.

Michael Elgin Advertised For ROH Show, Elgin's Odd Response

Former ROH Champion Michael Elgin is now advertised for the company's live event on Saturday in Kalamazoo, Michigan. It will be his first ROH appearance since he was stuck in Canada following the ROH Al Star Extravaganza event that was held on September 6. Read the official statement at ROHwrestling.com.

Michael Elgin responded to an Twitter.com/BetweenTheRopestweet regarding his advertised Ring of Honor return in Kalamazoo, Michigan on Saturday. "News to me," Elgin wrote.

Opinionated View- There is a chance Elgin is joking or something. Of course there were reports of major tension between Elgin and ROH lately.

Michael Elgin Advertised For October Show

 PWInsider reports that Michael Elgin is scheduled for AAW’s October 17th show. Elgin has been stuck in Canada due to an expired visa and has been off ROH TV because of it.

There’s no word on whether Elgin has received his updated visa and is in the US now already or not.

Michael Elgin Releases Statement On His Situation With Ring of Honor

As we previously reported, there are some issues between Ring of Honor and Michael Elgin, who dropped the ROH World title to Jay Briscoe at ROH All-Star Extravaganza. In a post on Facebook, Elgin commented on the situation.

He wrote:

"I want to start this by thanking friends that have reached out in this terrible time. But I want to rectify many claims that have been made. I am a very easy person to deal with, all I care about is things being done correctly. I'm in no shape or form saying that my way is correct or that I'm always right, but sometimes you need to find middle ground which has obviously been an issue. Did I spend 1 min if my time to say I wanted to try baseball yes, was it intended to hurt ROH or show a lack if interest? Not at all for 30 min prior I was speaking highly if ROH and the world title.

Like any interview my main goal is to have people hear my beliefs of ROH, their history and their World Title. I was never turning my back on wrestling as it's been the only thing that's constant in my life since a very young age. I did play baseball in highschool and college so I wasn't just overhyped due to any situation. I have given my life and well being to wrestling so you can dislike me and jump on the lets hate Elgin bandwagon if you wish but know the story. I wrestle hurt and risk my health because of my love and respect to wrestling and the men and women who came before me. I'm not going into more detail because the I'm whining.

Many issues have arose, and it could be easy to point fingers. I will say many things were a misunderstanding that led to recent happenings. If I'm at fault, I have no problem owning up and taking responsibility. But as if now I will say claims, reports and opinions are very wrong and just rumors. I do hope that one day (sooner than later) things will be corrected and my name is restored.

I will admit I'm in Canada very angry, disappointed and so many other feelings that I don't feel like going into detail about. I'm not asking for goodwill or handouts but show some decency while you have no correct info.

All I know is I am without my beautiful wife, our great pets and new house. We have 2 mortgages to pay and many other bills that my money is going towards. I have almost zero clothes or personal belongings. This is a more drastic situation that anyone could understand. To my family in St. Louis I love and miss you, to Elgin supporters and haters alike thank you for supporting wrestling because without you I wouldn't be anywhere."

ROH News and Notes: Sydal Returns, Update on Young and Elgin, Elgin Comments

- ROH officials are reportedly assisting Michael Elgin VISA issues so that he can get back into the US. Word is that Elgin was responsible for handling the VISA issue prior to it expiring. 

- Matt Sydal (Evan Bourne) returns to ROH on September 27th for the company's next TV tapings.

- Jay Briscoe is scheduled to defend the ROH Title at the TV tapings.

- Silas Young is dealing with an injury, but it may not be a broken leg as first announced by ROH. More details as they become available.

Anything at all, @ringofhonor did not tell me there was an issue with wanted to try something. Wrestle still has my full attention and love. Big Update on Michael Elgin

Former ROH Champion Michael Elgin and his wife were detained at the Canada-United States border trying to re-enter the U.S. following last night's ROH All-Star Extravaganza iPPV in Toronto. He ran into issues with an expired work visa because he is in the process of moving to the U.S. and getting his greencard. Until the issue is resolved, Elgin is essentially locked out of the United States and will have to stay with family in Toronto.

Michael Elgin was pulled into a meeting prior to the Ring of Honor All Star Extravaganza event on Saturday and informed of the decision to have him drop the ROH Title to Jay Briscoe. ROH officials were said to be frustrated by a few factors, including Elgin publicly expressing his desire to try out for a baseball team, his recent dealings with members of the office staff, and that he put over Trevor Lee at a Pro Wrestling Guerrilla event.

Meanwhile, Elgin was stopped at the border on Saturday night (or early Sunday morning) and was not allowed to reenter the United States. Elgin, who was born in Canada, has an expired work visa and has been waiting for a green card. Elgin is said to be very upset with ROH management and holds them responsible for the situation. At last check, Elgin was still in Canada, while his wife, Rachel Frobel (a/k/a MsChif), an American citizen, was able to return to the United States.

Opinionated View- I don't care who he jobbed to in PWG or what his visa situation is there is no reason to have him drop to Briscoe. I can't blame Elgin for being short with the ROH office there are plenty of BS things going on. And oh he did a job in a tournament he wasn't booked to win big freaking deal.

Michael Elgin Re-Signs With ROH

- Michael Elgin has re-signed with Ring Of Honor, and according to an announcement made at IWA Mid-South's show this week it will preclude him from appearing for them anymore. It isn't confirmed if this means it's a contract that makes him exclusive to ROH or not.

Opinionated View- I still stand by my belief that it stupid to sign an ROH contract. All it does is lock you into the indy scene only apparently you have to take less dates. For Elgin this is even worse as ROH has booked terrible.

Christopher Daniels has signed a contract with ROH, and will be full time with the promotion starting with the June 22nd PPV.

- While NJPW was in the US for the ROH shows, Adam Cole and Michael Elgin worked out for NJPW bookers Gedo and Jado. Adam Cole impressed them and should be headed to work a tour with the company soon. Elgin did not get an offer, which was reportedly a big blow to him.

- NJPW performer Takaaki Watanabe will be working with ROH going forward.

Main Event Set For ROH Best in the World

Adam Cole will defend the ROH Title against Michael Elgin at ROH Best in the World. The show takes place on June 22nd in Nashville, Tennessee.

Opinionated View- I like both guys and they are great talents. But they have been blocked really poorly. Elgin suffered front the old ROH problem of they have a guy everyone wants to see win the world title. But they draw out the win and book him poorly killing that momentum and having the fans turns on him. Cole instead of being the dominate heel champion has been set up as a lackey to Hardy and Maria. At least with Magnus and Dixie you got the feeling Magnus was his own man.

Roderick Strong Does Well at Recent WWE Tryout - Who Else Attended?

- Roderick Strong, Kevin Steen, Arya Daivari (Shawn Daivari's younger brother), David Starr, Michael Elgin, Rocky Romero, Ronny Reeves, Willie Mack and Zane Dawson were all reportedly part of the most recent WWE tryout camp at the Performance Center.

Reports say that both Steen and Strong did well, but that Strong impressed both in the ring and with his speaking skills.

At this time there are no updates on if any of the talents have been offered contracts. Most times it takes four to six weeks for talents to be informed of they will be offered a deal or not. 

Opinionated View- Are there more than one wrestlers using the name Roderick Strong? OR did WWE mess up and think someone else was Strong? I mean that only explanation I could get for him impressing as a talker. Of course WWE was stupid enough to pass on the Wolves.

Major ROH Stars At Next WWE Tryout Camp

- ROH wrestlers Roderick Strong and Kevin Steen are said to be considered likely candidates for the next WWE NXT tryout camp at the WWE Peformance Center in Orlando, Florida. Strong and Steen are reportedly confirmed to take part of the tryout, which is set for March 24-March 26. In addition, indy wrestling worker Michael Elgin is also trying to get into the tryout camp, but there is no definitive word as to whether he will be a part of it.

Opinionated View- all three guys have talent and could be signed. Now with Strong he's weak on the microphone can very repeative in the ring and if the WWE didn't want The Wolves I can't see them taking Strong. Steen doesn't have the WWE look now that's part of his gimmick and appeal but I could see missing that. Elgin has a great look but he's not that tall and to the WWE that could be a strike against him.

AJ Styles’ Opponents Confirmed For The ROH Anniversary Weekend Events

- Ring of Honor has announced the opponents for AJ Styles during their 12th anniversary weekend. Styles will face Jay Lethal on February 21st and Michael Elgin on February 22nd. The Lethal match is part of the 12th anniversary show, while the Elgin match is part of the TV tapings the next day. Both events take place at the Pennsylvania National Guard Armory in Philadelphia, PA.

World Title Match For ROH Final Battle

Ring of Honor has announced that Adam Cole will defend his ROH World Championship against "Unbreakable" Michael Elgin in the main event of Final Battle 2013. Michael Elgin successfully pinned Adam Cole during the Champions vs. All Stars match to earn the shot at Cole, who defeated Elgin in the finals of the tournament to win the title. The event takes place at the Hammerstein Ballroom on December 14th.

Opinionated View- Thank god its not Jay Briscoe. Elgin vs Cole should be awesome.
