Match Number One: Michael Bennett versus Tommaso Ciampa in a Second Round Match (from Manhattan Mayhem)

Bennett goes the floor shortly after the bell rings and then when he gets back on the apron, he returns to the floor when Ciampa gets close. When Ciampa goes to the floor, Bennett returns to the ring. Ciampa goes back into the ring and Bennett goes to the floor. Ciampa goes to the floor again and he grabs Bennett by the legs and he swings him into the guardrails.

Ciampa sends Bennett nto the turnbuckles and follows with an Irish whip and a flying forearm. Ciampa with a snap mare and then he drops down to his knees in front of Bennett and pops up for a drop kick and he gets a near fall. Bennett with a kick and he works on the knee but Ciampa with a slap. Ciampa with a shoulder tackle and then Bennett drops down but Ciampa with a back splash onto Bennett for a near fall.

Ciampa with kicks to the hamstring and then Ciampa with a KneeDT as he works on Bennett’s knee. Ciampa with forearms but Bennett with a kick to the thigh. Ciampa floats over and Ciampa falls to the mat, appearing to have injured his leg, but since Bennett did not see it, Ciampa is only playing with Bennett to sucker him into doing something stupid.

Bennett thinks he has things under control but Ciampa with an inside cradle for a near fall followed by a knee. Bennett with a drop toe hold that sends Ciampa into the ropes. Bennett goes to the floor and hits a drop kick.

They go to the floor and Bennett with forearms to Ciampa. Bennett with a running boot to Ciampa. Bennett puts Ciampa against the guardrail on the other side of the ring. Bennett misses the Yakuza kick when Ciampa moves.

Ciampa with a running knee to the head and then he puts Bennett against the guardrails and Ciampa with another knee to the head. Ciampa sends Bennett into the other corner of the ringside area and Bennett gets up but Ciampa with a German suplex into the guardrails. Ciampa with a running knee that sends Ciampa into the crowd due to the momentum.

They return to the ring and Ciampa sets for Project Ciampa but Bennett runs Ciampa into the turnbuckles. Ciampa gets a boot up and Ciampa goes to the turnbuckles but Bennett with a super kick and Ciampa’s leg gets caught on the top rope as he hangs from the turnbuckles. Bennett works on the knee while Ciampa tries to get free.

Ciampa finally gets back to the mat and Bennett tries to hyperextend the knee. Bennett continues to work on Ciampa’s knee and then he connects with a knee to the head. Bennett with elbows to the knee. Ciampa with forearms to escape. Ciampa struggles to get back to his feet but Bennett returns to the knee. Ciampa with a boot to the head. Bennett catches the leg and he drops down with a knee breaker. Bennett with a KneeDT followed by a slam that has Ciampa’s leg bounce off the ropes. Bennett blows a kiss to Ciampa but he misses a splash into the corner when Ciampa moves.

Bennett and Ciampa exchange forearms on their knees. They get back to their feet and they continue the exchange. Ciampa blocks a punch and he connects with a discus clothesline. Bennett with a super kick. Ciampa with a lariat to Bennett and both men are down. Ciampa gets a near fall.

Ciampa with a Cobra Stretch on Bennett but Bennett is able to get to the ropes. Ciampa releases the hold and he hobbles when he gets back to his feet. Ciampa cannot even come off the ropes for the running knee. Bennett with a spear for a near fall. Bennett tries for a piledriver but Ciampa escapes the hold.

Ciampa misses a knee and Bennett applies a Cloverleaf with his knee in the back. Ciampa grabs the leg and he gets a near fall with an inside cradle. Bennett pulls down the knee brace and he hits a knee to the face and then Bennett with a bulldog and he sits in the ring as if he was someone who knew Maria at some time.

Bennett suggests that someone is going to sleep and he get Ciampa on his shoulder. Ciampa blocks it and Ciampa with Go to Sleep and he gets a near fall. Bennett and Ciampa go to the apron. Ciampa and Bennett exchange punches and cops. Bennett with a kick to the knee and he tries for a piledriver on the apron but Ciampa holds the ropes. Ciampa gets Bennett on his shoulders for an Air Raid Crash on the apron. Ciampa with a knee to the head and Bennett falls off the apron to the floor.

Ciampa with an Air Raid Crash on the floor and he rolls Bennett into the ring and he gets the three count.

Match Number Two: Kevin Steen versus Roderick Strong in a Second Round Match (from Manhattan Mayhem)

We have the Code of Honor before the match starts and Strong with a jumping knee to the head followed by Death by Roderick for a near fall. Steen gets to the apron but Strong with a knee and he sends Steen to the floor. Strong goes for a baseball slide but Steen catches Strong and hits a power bomb on the apron. Steen with a swanton for a near fall.

Steen sets for F-Cinq but Strong gets to the apron. Strong with a shoulder from the apron and Strong tries for a second one but Steen catches Strong and hits a hanging DDT for a near fall. Steen slows things down a little and he calls for a side head lock and he applies it. Steen with a forearm and then he celebrates.

Steen kicks Strong and then he hits a corkscrew elbow to the back followed by a back senton. Steen stands on Strong’s chest and then he has some fun with the fans and referee. Strong with a chop but Steen with a rake of the eyes and a chop.

Strong with a chop but Steen with a forearm and they go back and forth until Steen connects with a knee. Steen with kicks to Strong. Steen sets for a slam but Strong escapes and Strong with a knee in the corner followed by an Olympic Slam. Both men are down. Strong with kicks to Steen’s head.

Strong chokes Steen in the ropes. Strong with a chop in the corner. Steen blocks a chop but Strong with a kick. Strong chokes Steen in the corner. Steen with punches but Strong punches back. Steen with forearms but Strong with a knee to the midsection and a bulldog for a near fall. Strong with a seated abdominal stretch but Steen bites the leg to get Strong to release the hold.

Strong with a forearm to the back. Strong with a chop in the corner followed by a standing drop kick and Strong applauds his work. Strong gets a near fall. Strong sets for a Gibson Driver but Steen runs Strong into the turnbuckles.

Steen runs into a boot from Strong in the corner. Steen with a forearm to Strong but Strong with a knee to Steen. Strong with a kick but Steen blocks it. Strong hits an enzuigiri. Strong tries for a discus forearm but Steen with a clothesline to stop Strong. Both men are down.

Both men get to their feet and Steen with a forearm followed by a fisherman’s neck breaker for a near fall. Steen misses a charge into the corner and Strong with a shoulder and forearms. Strong follows with a chop and he puts Steen on the turnbuckles. Strong sets for a superplex but Steen with forearms to the back. Strong with forearms as the battle continues on the turnbuckles. Strong with a superplex.

Strong rolls Steen over and gets a near fall. Strong applies the Strong Hold but Steen gets to the ropes. Strong sets for a half nelson back breaker but Steen bites Strong’s hand. Steen with a pop up power bomb for a near fall and then Steen tries for the Sharpshooter but Strong kicks his way out of the hold.

Strong tries for Death by Roderick again but Steen blocks it and he locks in the Sharpshooter. Strong makes his way to the ropes and Steen has to release the hold. Steen collapses to the mat. Strong with a leaping knee and he hits Death By Roderick followed by the Sick Kick but Steen kicks out at two.

Strong with forearms and he puts Steen back on the turnbuckles. Strong climbs the turnbuckles and he sets for another superplex but Steen with forearms to the back. STen with a super fisherman’s buster for a near fall. Steen tries for the package piledriver but Strong fights out of it and he connects with forearms.

Strong tries for a suplex but Steen escapes and he hits a sleeper suplex followed by a package piledriver for the three count.

Match Number Three: Michael Elgin versus Karl Anderson in a Second Round Match (from Manhattan Mayhem)

They shake hands so the Code of Honor will be followed.

Elgin with a boot to the head as the bell rings. Anderson and Elgin exchange forearms and boots. Anderson with forearms and Elgin fires back. Anderson with a side head lock and shoulder tackle but Elgin does not move. Anderson tries again and he tells Elgin to try. Elgin blocks a hip toss. Anderson blocks a power bomb and then he tries for an Ace Crusher but Elgin escapes. Elgin with a rollup for a near fall.

Elgin wants a test of strength but Anderson with a kick to the midsection followed by an elbow to the back of the neck. Anderson with a forearm and side head lock. Elgin with a shoulder tackle and Anderson goes down. Elgin gets a near fall. Elgin with a forearm in the corner but Anderson with a chop. Elgin chops back.

Elgin with a hard Irish whip and he looks around before getting Anderson up for a delayed vertical suplex and holds Anderson up for more than half a minute and Elgin gets a near fall. Anderson rolls to the floor to regroup and gets his bearings back.

Elgin tries for a splash off the apron but Anderson catches him and Anderson sends Elgin into the guardrails. Anderson puts Elgin in a seat at the corner of the guardrails. Anderson with a bicycle kick and he returns to the ring. Anderson tells the referee to start the count.

Elgin struggles to get back into the ring but he does before the twenty count. Anderson with kicks to the head. Anderson with a kick to the back of the knee and the front of the knee. Anderson puts the leg in the ropes and then he hits a drop kick to the left knee.

Anderson starts to work on the right knee as well. Elgin with kicks but Anderson grabs the left leg and he connects with an elbow to the knee. Anderson chokes Elgin in the ropes. Anderson with a cravate into a snap mare and rear chin lock. Elgin with elbows and punches. Elgin runs into a leg lariat and he gets a near fall. Anderson climbs on top of Elgin and he punches Michael in the head. Anderson with a boot to the head. Anderson with a slam and he misses a back senton.

Elgin gets his second wind as he gets back to his feet. Elgin with clotheslines to the front and back of the neck. Elgin with a running clothesline into the corner and then he sends Anderson across the ring and does the same. Elgin with an Oklahoma Stampede for a near fall. Elgin tries for a dead lift German but Anderson with elbows to escape.

Anderson holds on to the ropes when Elgin tries for an O’Connor Roll. Elgin catches Anderson and hits a spinning Bossman Slam and a near fall. Elgin points to the turnbuckles so it appears to be Buckle Bomb time. Anderson blocks the set up and Anderson gets Elgin on his shoulders. Elgin with elbows to gets out of the hold.

Anderson blocks a lariat but Elgin with a clothesline against the ropes and Elgin with Neverending Story against the ropes. Elgin winds up for a lariat but Anderson with a spinebuster for a near fall. Anderson runs into the corner an Elgin with an uranage. Elgin goes up top for a corkscrew moonsault but Anderson moves.

Elgin gets to his feet after Anderson has Elgin up. Elgin with a forearm to the back of the neck and then Elgin with a deadlift German suplex and bridge for a near fall. Elgin goes up top again but he takes too long and Anderson with a flying Yakuza Kick. Anderson gets Elgin on his shoulders while on the turnbuckles and he hits a super TKO for a near fall. Anderson picks up Elgin and he hits Emerald Frosion for a near fall.

Anderson signals that it is over and he waits for Elgin to get up. Anderson tries for an Ace Crusher but Elgin counters with a backslide for a near fall. Elgin applies the Crossface but Anderson gets to the ropes and the referee calls for the break.

They go to the apron and Elgin picks up Anderson. Anderson with a boot to Elgin that staggers Elgin. The referee checks on Elgin but Elgin wants to continue. Anderson goes up top and Elgin with a forearm to stop Anderson. Elgin climbs the turnbuckles and Anderson bites the head. Elgin with an enzuigiri that knocks Anderson off the turnbuckles and onto the apron. Elgin goes to the turnbuckles for the dead lift superplex and he gets a near fall.

Elgin pounds on the turnbuckle to suggest the buckle bomb is coming? Elgin with the buckle bomb but Anderson with a flying Yakuza Kick. Elgin with a super kick. Anderson with a bicycle kick. Elgin with a bicycle kick of his own. Elgin misses a back fist and Anderson tries for an Ace Crusher but Elgin blocks it.

Elgin with a back elbow and forearm. Elgin sets for a suplex and turns it into a sit out spinebuster for a near fall. Elgin tries for another buckle bomb but Anderson escapes. Anderson cannot hit the Ace Crusher and Elgin sends Anderson into the corner. Elgin with a charge into the corner but Anderson moves. Anderson misses a Yakuza kick in the corner. Elgin with a back fist. Elgin with another back fist followed by the Buckle Bomb and sit out power bomb for the three count.

ROH Death Before Dishonor Results

Jay Briscoe comes out to start the show. He talks about being on the very first ROH show in February 2002 and building the company to where it is today. The fans chant “thank you champ!” in response. Jay then mentions defeating Kevin Steen at “Supercard of Honor VII” back in April to win the ROH World title. He asks Nigel why he stripped Jay of the title when he hurt his shoulder when Nigel defended the title when he had a torn bicep. He thinks him being stripped of the title is bullshit, although he knows Nigel is simply a messenger. He says when he comes back from his injury, he will be in line for a title shot. Until then, he has no problem handing the belt over to whomever wins the title if they win it like a man.

Opening Match: Jay Lethal vs. Silas Young

Jay Lethal picks up the win after backflipping into the Lethal Injection.

ROH World Title Tournament Semi-Final Round Match
Adam Cole vs. Tommaso Ciampa

Match started hot and heavy with Ciampa attacking Cole right away and taking him to the floor. While there, Ciampa powerbombed Cole into the barricades and suplexed him onto the exposed floor. Cole targeted Ciampa injured knee while Ciampa used his good knee for both offensive and defensive purposes. While Cole had Ciampa in the figure four, he kicked Ciampa so hard in the head that he was knocked out and his shoulders were counted to the mat for three.

ROH World Title Tournament Semi-Final Round Match
Kevin Steen vs. Michael Elgin

Lots of power moves and strike exchanges, as one would expect. Steen busted out a crossbody! In the end, Elgin forced Steen to tap out to the Crossface.

IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Tag Team Championship
Forever Hooligans (Rocky Romero & Alex Koslov) (Champions) vs. The American Wolves (Davey Richards & Eddie Edwards)

The Hooligans retain the titles, pinning Davey with the Contract Killer.

After intermission, ‘Barrister’ RD Evans and Veda Scott come out. Veda says Nigel McGuinness will be served for Outlaw Inc. breaking Evans’ fingers at “Manhattan Mayhem V.” He says he will not leave the ring until he gets justice. This brings Adam Page to the ring. He says if Evans’ needs to blow off some steam they can have a match.

Adam Page vs. ‘Barrister’ RD Evans w/Veda Scott

Page made short work of Evans, holding him in an Alabama Slam position and dropping him back directly onto his head. According to Cheeseburger, it’s called the Axe Guillotine Driver.

Roderick Strong vs. Ricky Marvin

Strong wins with the Sick Kick and Gibson Driver.

BJ Whitmer came out to talk to Nigel McGuinness. Due to his spinal issues, he has decided to hang up his boots and retire from pro wrestling. He thanks Les Thatcher, Cary Silken, Gabe Sapolsky, and the fans. He then brings out Jimmy Jacobs. He asks Nigel for one favor before he leaves: give Jimmy Jacobs a chance for redemption. Nigel eventually agrees and Jimmy will wrestle tomorrow night. (Note: The feed died during this segment, so the results are courtesy of Jason Sterlacci (@Electric_Amish)

ROH World Title Tournament Finals
Adam Cole vs. Michael Elgin

Three judges for the match in the result of a time limit draw: Cary Silkin, Joe Koff, and Prince Nana.

Adam Cole wins the title after repeated German suplexes and the Florida Key. Elgin almost had him with the Crossface (which beat Steen earlier in the night) but Cole rolled it into a pin.

Jay Briscoe gives Cole the title. Cole superkicks him in the back of the head! He then nails Elgin with the title belt! Cole blows Nigel a kiss and poses at the top of the ramp to end the show.

ROH TV Report: Cole vs Lethal

We begin this week’s show with a look back at what happened during the match between Michael Bennett and BJ Whitmer when Whitmer suffered an injury. Nigel says that they will provide updates on BJ’s condition. Since Bennett was able to continue, he will advance to the second round to face Tommaso Ciampa.
Nigel says that the people in Ring of Honor are elite athletes, but accidents do happen.

Match Number One Roderick Strong versus Matt Taven (with Truth Martini, Scarlett and Selezia) in a First Round Match in the Ring of Honor World Heavyweight Title Tournament

They lock up and Taven with a wrist lock. Strong with a reversal and a take down. Taven with a reversal but Strong with a reversal and drop toe hold into a reverse chin lock. Strong with a front face lock but Taven gets to the ropes. Taven retreats to the ropes and then he goes to the floor after Strong spat on him.

Taven returns to the ring and they lock up and Taven with a knee and forearm. Taven with an Irish whip and Strong floats over and hits a drop kick. Strong with chops followed by a back breaker and he gets a near fall. Strong with a forearm to the back fo the head followed by a shoulder in the corner.

Strong with more chops to Taven. Truth grabs the leg and Taven gets a near fall with a rollup. Strong with a drop kick and he suplexes Taven and gets a near fall. Strong with knees and Taven sends Strong to the apron. Strong sends Taven into the turnbuckles. Truth grabs Strong’s leg again and Taven with a drop kick to the head.

Taven punches Strong on the floor and then he sends Strong head first into the table. Taven brings Strong back into the ring and he punches Strong. The referee warns Taven. Taven chokes Strong in the ropes. Taven with a delayed vertical suplex and Taven kips up.

Taven with a springboard senton for a near fall. Taven starts to focus on the leg and he drops an elbow to the leg. Strong with forearms. Strong with a rollup for a near fall. Strong with chops but Taven with a drop kick and he gets a near fall and Strong gets his foot on the ropes.

Strong kicks Taven but Taven with punches. Strong with forearms and Taven stops him. Strong with an Irish whip and Taven with an enzuigiri for a near fall. Taven with a sit out gourdbuster and then he goes up top for a moonsault but Strong gets his knees up.

Strong with a boot to a charging Taven. Strong with chops to Taven followed by a flying clothesline and a spinning side slam for a near fall. Strong with a running knee into the corner followed by a running forearm. Taven with a boot to Strong but Strong with a back body drop and a clothesline that sends Taven over the top rope to the floor.

Strong with a baseball slide through the ropes. Selezia gets on the apron and distracts the referee long enough to allow Truth to hit Strong in the back with the Book of Truth. Nigel says something to Truth. Strong appears to want Truth to stay at ringside. Taven tries to attack Strong from behind, but Nigel pulls Strong out of the way and Taven hits Truth instead.

Strong with a burning hammer back breaker on the apron and then Strong gets a near fall. Strong tries for a back breaker but Taven escapes and he hits a round kick. Taven runs into a boot from Strong and Strong with an enzuigiri. Taven with a round kick and Angel’s Wings for a near fall.

Taven goes up top but Strong with an enzuigiri and then Strong hits a superplex and he gets a near fall but he turns it into the Strong Hold. Taven tries to get to the ropes and he succeeds. Taven sends Strong into the ropes. Taven with Roll The Dice on the top rope and Taven goes up top for a frog splash and he connects but Strong kicks out.

Strong counters the snap mare driver with a back breaker and then he hits a head and leg back breaker followed by a flying kick to the knee. Strong with End of Heartbreak for the three count.

Match Number Two: Match Number Eight: Kevin Steen versus Brian Kendrick in a First Round Match in the Ring of Honor World Heavyweight Title Tournament


Kendrick with kicks to the leg and elbows to Steen’s arm followed by a wrist lock. Steen with a punch and reversal into a hammer lock and Kendrick gets to the ropes. Steen with a single leg take down and Kendrick gets to the ropes and Steen breaks. They lock up again and Steen with a waist lock take down.

Kendrick with a waist lock into a side head lock. Kendrick with a shoulder tackle and Steen stays on his feet. Steen wants Kendrick to try again and Kendrick has the same result. Steen tells Kendrick the third time might be the charm. Kendrick ducks a clothesline and he connects with forearms. Kendrick with a float over into a victory roll.

Kendrick with a side head lock and Steen with a shoulder tackle. Steen with a drop kick and he poses. Kendrick goes to the floor and Steen holds the ropes open for Brian. Kendrick takes advantage of the twenty count to return to the ring. Kendrick returns to the ring and then he goes to the floor again.

Steen goes to the floor and he chases Kendrick around the ring. Kendrick gets back into the ring first and he connects with a shoulder. Kendrick goes to the apron again and Steen pulls him to the floor. Steen tries for a power bomb onto the apron but Kendrick escapes and gets onto the apron. Kendrick with an elbow and Steen with a slepper. Kendrick with Sliced Bread #2 on the apron.

The referee checks on both men. Kendrick returns to the ring first and Steen has trouble getting back to his feet. Kendrick with a baseball slide when Steen returns to the ring and he gets a near fall. Kendrick with a camel clutch. Steen backs Kendrick into the turnbuckles to try to get out of the hold. Steen goes to a second turnbuckle but with no luck. Kendrick holds on to the sleeper and Steen falls back to the mat and he escapes.

Kendrick with a forearm and Steen with a forearm. Steen with punches and forearms. Kendrick with a kick to the head but Steen with a lariat and a fisherman neck breaker for a near fall. Kendrick holds on to the ropes and Steen with forearms to the back.

Steen misses a charge into the corner and Kendrick with a drop kick. Kendrick goes for a Burning Hammer but he cannot get Steen up. Kendrick with a jaw breaker. Steen with a back elbow to Kendrick. Kendrick with a forearm and a modified Death Valley Driver for a near fall.

Steen goes to the apron and Kendrick tries to suplex Steen back into the ring. Steen blocks and he tries to suplex Kendrick to the floor. Kendrick with a forearm and Steen with a shoulder and Steen with a sunset flip that rolls into a Sharpshooter but Kendrick fights out of the hold. Steen catapults Kendrick onto the turnbuckles.

Kendrick with a tornado DDT for a near fall. Kendrick goes for Sliced Bread #2 but Steen counters with F-Cinq and Kendrick kicks out at two. Steen sets for the package piledriver but Kendrick escapes and hits a super kick. Steen sends Kendrick into the turnbuckles and hits a Sleeper suplex for a near fall. Steen charges into the corner but Kendrick pulls the referee in front of him.

The referee is moved out of the way and Kendrick with a low blow but Steen grabs Kendrick by the throat and hits a choke slam. Steen continues to hold his groin and Steen hits a Cannonball. Steen with the Sharpshooter. Kendrick taps out.

We are back and we see how Jay Lethal and Adam Cole advanced to the second round of this tournament.


Match Number Three: Jay Lethal versus Adam Cole in a Second Round Match (from All Star Extravaganza)


They circle each other for a while before locking up. They lock up and Lethal with a wrist lock. Cole rolls through to reverse. Lethal backs Cole into the corner and he gives Cole a clean break. They lock up again and Cole with a side head lock take down but Lethal with a head scissors and Cole escapes. Cole with another side head lock take down.

Cole with a shoulder tackle. Lethal stops short of a leap frog and he takes Cole down with a side head lock. Cole gets away and he takes Lethal down with a side head lock. Lethal with a chop out of a break in the corner. Lethal with a float over on an Irish whip. Lethal tries for a side head lock take down but Cole stays on his feet.

Cole tries for a La Magistral but Lethal is able to shift his weight and he gets a near fall of his own. Cole gets a near fall. Cole with a side head lock take down. Lethal gets back to his feet and he tries to send Cole off the ropes but Cole holds on to the side head lock. Lethal with forearms and he tries for a belly-to-back suplex. Cole lands on his feet.

Cole tries for a hip toss but Lethal blocks it. Lethal with a hip toss followed by a cartwheel, but Cole knows what is coming so he gets on his feet and he tries for another side head lock take down but Lethal blocks it and Lethal with a drop kick to the head. Lethal gets a near fall.

Lethal with an elbow to the head followed by a back breaker and Lethal gets another near fall. Lethal gets another near fall as he tries to wear down Cole. Lethal sends Cole into the turnbuckles and then he chops Cole. Lethal with more chops. Cole with a forearm and Lethal fires back. Lethal with a knee followed by a belly-to-back suplex and he gets a near fall.

Lethal with a rear chin lock. Cole with punches. Lethal tries for a super kick but Cole blocks it. Cole with a leaping neck breaker for a near fall. Cole with a snap suplex and he floats over and gets a near fall. Cole with a slam followed by a forearm drop and he gets a near fall. Cole with a reverse chin lock.

Lethal with elbows to try to get out of the hold and Cole with a waist lock but Lethal with a rollup for a near fall. Cole has a super kick blocked and Lethal with a back heel kick and snap mare followed by an inverted DDT and Lethal gets a near fall. Lethal puts the legs into a figure four and he elevates Cole. Cole counters and tries for a figure four leg lock but Lethal tries to fight Cole.

Cole applies the figure four but Lethal gets to the ropes quickly and Cole releases the hold. Cole with a forearm that staggers Lethal. Lethal with a punch. Cole with another forearm. Lethal with punches and chops. Cole with forearms. Cole is sent to the apron by Lethal. Cole goes to the floor and he connects with an enzuigiri.

Lethal with a springboard drop kick that sends Cole to the floor and Lethal with a suicide dive onto Cole and both men are down on the floor. The referee starts his count while Lethal and Cole struggle to get back into the ring. Lethal gets back into the ring first, followed by Cole.

Cole and Lethal are on their knees across the ring from each other. They exchange punches and forearms. Lethal with the advantage for a moment but Cole with the advantage. Lethal with punches and chops but Cole with a kick. Cole with a fireman’s carry neck breaker for a near fall.

Cole goes up top but Lethal stops him. Lethal with a chop to Cole and Lethal climbs the turnbuckles. Cole with forearms and punches and then Cole hits a sunset flip power bomb followed by a Shining Wizard but Lethal kicks out. Cole tries for a suplex but Lethal blocks it. Cole tries again and Lethal lands on his feet. Lethal hits the Lethal Combination for a near fall.

Lethal points to the turnbuckles and he goes up top for the elbow drop but Cole pops up. He punches Lethal to stop him. Cole sets for a superplex but Lethal blocks it. Lethal with a punch and head butt to send Cole to the mat. Lethal with a missile drop kick attempt but Cole backs up and Lethal does not connect. Cole tries for a figure four leg lock but Lethal counters with an inside cradle and a near fall.

Lethal with a back heel kick and he calls for the Lethal Injection. Cole grabs Lethal to stop his momentum but Lethal is able to come off the ropes but he is met with a super kick from Cole. Cole with a brainbuster neck breaker for a near fall.

Cole picks up Lethal but Lethal with a jaw breaker. Cole with an O’Connor Roll for a near fall. Cole has a super kick blocked but Cole with an enzuigiri. Lethal with a super kick but he misses a second one. Cole with a leg take down and he tries for a figure four leg lock but Lethal kicks him away. Cole misses a kick to the head and Lethal tries for a rollup but Cole is able to get away from Lethal.

Lethal with another super kick and Lethal goes up top for the elbow drop and he connects. Cole kicks out at two. Lethal tries to pick up Cole but Cole falls to the mat. Lethal tries to pick up the lifeless body of Cole. The referee checks on Cole. Cole with a super kick but Lethal backs Cole into the corner. Cole with a super kick to the back of the head.

Lethal escapes and he hits a back handspring into the Lethal Injection but Cole kicks out at two. Lethal tries to think of what he needs to do to win the match. Lethal picks up Cole and he puts Cole on the turnbuckles.

Lethal goes for a superplex but Cole escapes and he super kicks Lethal’s leg and it crotches Lethal. Cole with a release German superplex followed by a super kick and Florida Key for the three count.

ROH News: Jay Briscoe status update

Ring of Honor announced that Jay Briscoe will appear at the Death Before Dishonor XI event on September 20 in Philadelphia. Briscoe, who was stripped of the ROH Title due to injury, will present the title belt to the winner of the ROH Title tournament. Read more on the story at ROHwrestling.com.

ROH TV Report: Adam Cole vs Mark Briscoe

The Ring of Honor Title World Heavyweight Title Tournament started last week. This week, the tournament continues with two more first round matches. We will also see Matt Taven defend the Ring of Honor Television Title this week.

We are in Providence, Rhode Island and your announcers are Kevin Kelly and Nigel McGuinness.

Match Number One: Matt Taven (with Truth Martini and Friends) versus Brian Fury for theRing of Honor Television Championship

They lock up and Taven with a waist lock and he slaps Fury in the head. Taven retreats to the corner and then Taven gets some oil applied. Fury with a Michinoku Driver for a near fall. Fury with a back elbow and he gets a near fall. Fury tries for a suplex but Taven lands on his feet. Taven tries to float over on an Irish whip but Fury with an Alabama Slam and a near fall.

Taven with a boot to the head followed by a clothesline. Taven with a kick and a super kick for a near fall. Taven punches Fury and the referee warns Taven. Fury with an Irish whip and he hits a neck breaker. Truth gets on the apron and he distracts the referee. Nigel pulls Truth off the apron and that allows one of the women at ringside with Taven to hit a rana and Taven hits a frog splash but Fury kicks out at two.

Fury with a boot and then he hits a side slam but only gets a near fall. Fury with an Irish whip but Taven with a kick out of the corner and he hits the head lock driver for the three count.

Winner: Matt Taven

We go to comments from Mark Briscoe about his match against Adam Cole. Mark talks about the people suggesting that the Briscoes are gone from ROH due to SCUM. Mark says that he is here and wonders where SCUM is. Mark says that he has a doctor’s note that says that he is medically cleared to wrestle. He is coming for Adam Cole and the title is coming back to the Briscoe’s home.

We go to commercial.

We are back and Michael Elgin comes to the ring and he has something to say.

Michael says that there is nothing that means as much to him as the Ring of Honor World Title. There is nothing that means as much to him in the world of wrestling as the Ring of Honor World Title. When he heard that the title was going to be handed to him, he told Nigel that there was a better way. Nigel put 16 of the best wrestlers in the world in a tournament for the right to call themselves Ring of Honor World Champion.

That is him and 15 other guys. The other 15 have to look into his eyes. They need to know that what he is saying is the absolute truth. He doesn’t have to worry about them, they have to worry about him.

Kevin Steen emerges and he calls Elgin a liar and suggests that his pants might be on fire. Steen says that if Elgin was wearing any pants, they would be on fire. If you say you are not worrying about anyone in the tournament, you are lying. Steen says that Michael is worried about the one person he cannot beat and that is him.

Steen says that when he was the champion, people were saying that Elgin was going to beat him. When they met in the ring in Toronto, he did not win. Now that they are in the ring together, he is here to tell Michael and his mullet that it is not going to happen.

Michael says that Kevin is right that he beat him, but that was ten months ago. It took a package piledriver from the top rope. Michael tells Kevin that he is making a promise that it won’t happen again.

Kevin asks Michael if he is sure about that and he tells Michael to try him.

Michael Bennett and Maria Kanellis come out and Kevin introduces them as “Maria and Someone Else”.

Michael calls Kevin witty. He says that we have a collection of talent in the ring. People see pure talent in the ring. Bennett says that he sees two guys who have been opportunity after opportunity. He sees two guys who have been given main event after main event. He sees the past of Ring of Honor.

While those two have been given main events and opportunities, Michael says that he was being told ‘not right now’, or ‘wait another week’, or ‘you aren’t getting a chance because you are leaving Ring of Honor’. Bennett says that Mike Bennett is leaving Ring of Honor, but Michael Bennett is staying.

Tommaso Ciampa’s music plays and he makes his way to the ring. He takes Bennett’s mic and he gets in everyone’s face and then he says that your next Ring of Honor Champion is the Sicilian Psychopath. Ciampa leaves the ring.

Officials make their way to the ring to finally control things.

Match Number Two: ACH versus Karl Anderson in a First Round Match in the Ring of Honor World Heavyweight Title Tournament

They lock up and Anderson backs ACH into the corner but they go around the ring to another corner. Anderson with a clean break. They lock up and ACH with a side head lock and shoulder tackle. ACH with a head scissors take down and Anderson goes to the floor. Anderson moves out of the way and ACH bounces off the ropes and stays in the ring.

Anderson returns to the ring and they lock up again. Anderson with a side head lock take down. ACH gets a rollup for a near fall. ACH with a break when Anderson gets to the ropes but Anderson with a kick to ACH’s chest and back. Anderson with a European uppercut and ACH goes to the ropes. Anderson with a kick.

ACH holds the ropes and Anderson charges at ACH but ACH drops down and Anderson goes over the top rope to the floor. ACH goes to the apron and he tries for an Arabian Press onto Anderson but Anderson moves and ACH lands on his feet. Anderson with a flying Yakuza Kick to ACH.

We go to commercial.

We are back Anderson with a delayed vertical suplex to ACH and he gets a near fall. Anderson with more near falls and while he does not get the three count, he wears down his opponent. Anderson slaps ACH in the head and he connects with a European uppercut. Anderson with kicks to ACH.

The referee warns Anderson about the ropes. ACH goes to the apron and he connects with a shoulder and then he goes for a sunset flip and gets a near fall. Anderson with a running elbow and then he punches ACH in the head. Anderson with a reverse chin lock into a side head lock. Anderson with a forearm to the back followed by a slam.

Anderson misses a back senton when ACH moves. Both men struggle to get to their feet. ACH with kicks and chops and then he climbs the turnbuckles to punch Anderson. ACH with an Irish whip and Anderson sends ACH to the apron. ACH with a body scissors that sends Anderson to the floor. ACH with a baseball slide to Anderson and then he hits the double jump plancha onto Anderson.

ACH goes up top and he hits a cross body but can only get a two count. ACH with punches and forearms. Anderson tries for a cutter but ACH with Paydirt for a near fall. ACH goes up top but Anderson recovers and hits a running kick that stops ACH. Anderson is pushed off the turnbuckles and ACH leaps over Anderson. ACH misses a splash into the corner and Anerson with a kicks and then he hits a running sit out power bomb but he can only get a two count.

Anderson signals that it is over and he picks up ACH but ACH escapes and he hits an inverted DDT but can only get a two count. ACH hits a 450 splash but Anderson kicks out. Anderson with rollups but ACH escapes. ACH with a kick and he gets a near fall. ACH goes up top again and he goes for another 450 splash but Anderson moves. Anderson hits the Ace Crusher for the three count.

Cole with an Irish whip and Mark floats over and hits a Northern Lights suplex and bridge for a near fall. Mark with a head butt to Cole followed by chops to the neck. Briscoe with another chop and he gets a near fall. Mark tries for a suplex and Cole blocks it.

Mark with a back elbow followed by a suplex and he gets a near fall. Mark with chops to Cole followed by a head butt. Mark sends Adam into the turnbuckles and then he chops Adam and connects with an uppercut.

Mark puts Cole on the turnbuckles and connects with a thrust to the throat. Cole gets Briscoe on his shoulders but Mark escapes and he kicks Cole in the head and Cole goes to the floor. Briscoe with a baseball slide. Briscoe goes to the floor and he runs into a super kick.

Cole with forearms followed by an Irish whip. Cole and Briscoe bump heads and Cole looks like he took it worse. Briscoe with a drop kick off the ropes and then he hits a drop kick that sends Cole into the turnbuckles and Briscoe gets a near fall.

Briscoe with a full nelson but Cole with an elbow and Cole with a waist lock. Briscoe goes to the apron and he gives Cole a head butt. Cole with a kick to the head but Briscoe wants more. Cole with forearms to the head and Briscoe fires back. They go back and forth with forearms. Briscoe with chops to the neck and head. Cole avoids an enzuigiri but Cole does not miss with a Yakuza kick and he gets a near fall.

Cole sets for the Florida Key but Briscoe backs Cole into the corner. Cole with a boot to the head a few times. Mark with a Death Valley Driver and then he goes up top but he takes too long and Cole with a Yakuza Kick. Cole sets for a superplex but Briscoe blocks it. Mark sends Cole to the mat. Briscoe hits the elbow drop but he cannot capitalize and make the cover.

The referee checks on Briscoe and he keeps Cole away from Briscoe. The referee checks to see if Mark can continue but Cole does not care and he hits a super kick and then he give Mark a Jay Driller for the three count.

Ruling regarding the outcome of the ROH Title tournament match involving BJ Whitmer and Michael Bennett

Ring of Honor has announced that Michael Bennett is advancing in the ROH Title tournament. His first-round match with B.J. Whitmer came to an unplanned end when Whitmer suffered a neck injury and was taken to the hospital.  The storyline is that matchmaker Nigel McGuinness determined that Bennett advances because he was the last man standing. Bennett will face Tommaso Ciampa on August 17.

8/3 ROH All Star Extravaganza results

1. Yujiro Kushida defeated Adam Page. A fun match that saw both guys work hard to get the crowd involved. There were some stiff spots, but the finish saw the NJPW star hit the Midnight Express (a corkscrew moonsault) for the win. The crowd liked it.

2. "The Sicilian Psychopath" Tommaso Ciampa defeated Silas Young in an ROH Title Tournament opening round match.Big pop for Ciampa. The crowd was all over Young for the mustache with a variety of chants involving both Thomas Magnum and Ned Flanders (there were some clever chants) and Ciampa played into them, including trying to rip off Young's mustache on a couple of occasions. Ciampa hit Project Ciampa for the win, but Young was great here, heeling it up like crazy.

3. Michael Bennett (w/Maria Kanellis) vs. "Buzzsaw" BJ Whitmer went to a no-contest due to Whitmer suffering a neck injury. As you've probably heard by now, Whitmer was hurt in this match, potentially seriously. The spot in question happened when Bennett hit BJ with a piledriver on the apron. Obviously, that's a dangerous spot to begin with, so it took a couple of minutes to register with the fans that this wasn't a work. Eventually, wrestlers, including Davey Richards and Jay Lethal, came out to check on BJ and he eventually was stretchered out. 

Mike Bennett looked extremely uncomfortable and on the verge of tears, if he weren't actually crying. All told, it was probably 20 minutes before the stretcher left and there was a palpable sense of concern across the arena throughout. There was a huge "BJ" chant as he left. It was genuinely scary to watch.

4. Roderick Strong defeated ROH TV Champion Matt Taven (w/Truth Martini, Scarlett Bordeaux, Sylezia Sparks) in an ROH Title Tournament opening round match. A huge reaction for Roddy. This was a very good match that saw Nigel McGuinness (working commentary for TV tapings) threaten to send Scarlett to the back, unless she sat next to him at commentary. The Hoopla Hottie complied, but it didn't stop Truth from interfering on the outside in a sequence that saw Nigel get involved and Taven accidentally superkicking Martini. The finish happened with Strong hitting the Sick Kick followed by a giant backbreaker for the pin.

5. "Unbreakable" Michael Elgin over "The Intrepid Traveler" Paul London in an ROH Title Tournament opening round match. A nice pop for London, but the place went nuts for Toronto's Elgin. A very fun match that looked stiff in parts saw Elgin pick up the win with a huge flurry of offense that began with two Buckle Bombs, a backfist and, finally, the Elgin Bomb for the win. Another fine match.

Bobby Cruise announced the intermission and promised an update on BJ Whitmer, but just afterwards, Jimmy Jacobs hopped into the ring and expressed dismay that he wasn't in the title tournament. He said that he had pictures and t-shirts to sell and he'd be doing so during the break. Jacobs did end up selling shirts and posing for pictures and, by the looks of it, was having a great time. He wasn't far from where I was sitting and he was super personable and taking time to talk to everybody.

6. Adrenaline Rush (Tadarius Thomas & ACH) defeated C+C Wrestle Factory (Caprice Coleman & Cedric Alexander) and the Young Bucks (Nick & Matt Jackson) in a three-way dance.A great match that the audience loved. The crowd was into all three teams. The Jacksons were absolutely hilarious with their 3MB-esque mannerisms that had the crowd laughing hard. The finish saw ACH hit a 450 on Alexander for the pin. Everybody worked hard and the crowd was certainly appreciative. One of the matches of the night.

7. "Mr. Wrestling" Kevin Steen defeated Brian "Spanky" Kendrick by submission with the Sharpshooter in an ROH Title Tournament opening round match. The crowd was respectful for Kendrick, but Steen got a superstar reaction and probably the biggest pop of the night. It seemed that Spanky wanted to work heel as the match got underway, but he backed away from that quickly when the crowd didn't want that and didn't go back. A fun match that saw Kendrick hit Sliced Bread #2 on the apron (a manageable spot, for sure, but one that I wonder could have been passed over considering the Whitmer situation,) but eventually succumb to an F-Cinq and the Sharpshooter. Steen was ridiculously over.

8. "The Panama City Playboy" Adam Cole defeated Jay Lethal in an ROH Title Tournament quarterfinal match. Big pop for Lethal. Efficient, if unspectacular, match that saw Cole get the win with the Florida Key. Cole didn't heel it up at all and didn't even hint at a turn here. Nice work from both guys, but it never went into the next gear.

9. The American Wolves (Davey Richards & "Die Hard" Eddie Edwards) defeated Forever Hooligans (Alex Koslov & Rocky Romero) to win the ROH World Tag Team Championship. A fantastic match that saw both teams working stiff. Richards is horribly underrated in his ability to work a crowd. The crowd was pro-Wolves until Richards decided to work heel for no good reason. Eddie played it off like he didn't know what Davey was doing, but this turned the crowd onto the Hooligans and the crowd got behind them. Koslov's Russian dancing/knee-drop spot got a great reaction and the crowd was popping for near falls. 

The finish saw the Wolves hit a super powerbomb/Lungblower combo on Romero for the win. As the new champs celebrated, the Hooligans got a massive "Please come back" chant from the crowd. After the match, Davey put over the crowd (apologizing for heeling up) and the Hooligans and led everybody in an "ROH" chant.
