Updated WWE Battleground Card

WWE.com has announced today that WWE Intercontinental Champion Ryback will defend the Intercontinental Title against The Big Show & The Miz in a Triple Threat Match at the 7/19 Battleground PPV in St. Louis, Missouri.
Updated card for the show is as follows:
* WWE World Title: Seth Rollins (c) vs. Brock Lesnar w/Paul Heyman
* Roman Reigns vs. Bray Wyatt
* WWE Intercontinental Title, Triple Threat Match: Ryback (c) vs. The Big Show vs. The Miz

Opinionated View- What a joke of a card. Lesnar returns after months off and is suddenly number 1 contender because now Triple H and Stephanie want to mess with Seth. Reigns really hasn't been interesting in months and well its hard to get behind Wyatt since his push will die off sooner or later. And the triple threat has a guy in Ryback that has never been good. Big Show a guy whose last good match might have been in WCW and The Miz a guy who has just given up.

Spoiler: New IC Champion Revealed on Arena Website

The official website of the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio, where an upcoming WWE RAW taping will be taking place on 6/15, listed Sheamus as WWE Intercontinental Champion in the official listing of the show. This would seem to spoil Sheamus winning the currently vacated title at the upcoming 5/31 Elimination Chamber special event in Corpus Christi, Texas.

Opinionated View- Well plans can always change the question is now if Sheamus doesn't win the IC title was it due to plans changing or the website getting it right.

Could Daniel Bryan Vacate The IC Title Tonight?

We noted before that injured WWE Intercontinental Champion Daniel Bryan will be returning on tonight's RAW and is scheduled for Sunday's Payback pay-per-view also. There has been a lot of speculation about Bryan possibly vacating the title and for what it's worth, Bryan Alvarez of F4Wonline.com notes that there was talk that if Bryan wasn't cleared to compete this week, then he would indeed be vacating the title.

WrestleMania ladder match addition

WWE has announced that Stardust has been added to the ladder match for the Intercontinental Title at WrestleMania 31. The officially announced challengers for Bad News Barrett's title are now R-Truth, Dean Ambrose, Luke Harper, Dolph Ziggler, and Stardust. All signs point to Daniel Bryan eventually being added to the match as well.

WWE Announces Ladder Match For WrestleMania

WWE has just announced that Bad News Barrett will defend the WWE Intercontinental Title at WrestleMania 31 against multiple Superstars in a Ladder Match. WWE noted on their website that the number of challengers and their identities will be revealed in the next few weeks.

Opinionated View- I'm torn on this. The rumor is it will be Ambrose, Bryan, Ziggler, and R-Truth. So if they limit R-Truth it could be a good match. The problem is I think Ambrose vs. Barrett could be a good match one on one. But hey its better than brining back Rikihsi for a title shot.

Two Matches Set for WWE Smackdown

Daniel Bryan will be facing Kane in his first match back with WWE on the 1/15 WWE Smackdown this week on Syfy. This will be the first Smackdown in the new Thursday time slot beginning at 8:00 p.m. Eastern (7:00 CT).
Also announced for the show is Bad News Barrett defending the WWE Intercontinental Championship against Sin Cara

WWE.com has announced that WWE Intercontinental Champion Dolph Ziggler will defend the WWE Intercontinental Title against Cesaro on the 10/24 WWE Smackdown that will be taped tonight in Wichita, Kansas.

Interesting Note on Miz’s Recent IC Title Win and Loss

 The Miz’s recent victory and loss of the IC Title was familiar territory for him. The Miz defeated Dolph Ziggler to win the IC Title at the WWE Night of Champions PPV. He then lost title the very next night on Raw, back to Ziggler. This is not the first time that this has happened to the Miz. Back in 2013, Miz won the IC Title during the WrestleMania 29 pre-show to Wade Barrett. He then lost the title the next night, back to Barrett.

WWE Considering Intercontinental/United States Title Unification Match For SummerSlam

WrestleZone reports that WWE is considering adding a Intercontinental/United States Title unification match at Summerslam. The match was being discussed by WWE over the weekend and would be a Miz vs. Sheamus vs. Dolph Ziggler triple threat match.

Possible Plans for WWE SummerSlam

- There is talk that the IC Title match at Summerslam will be a triple threat match. At this time, the match would see The Miz defending the IC Title against Dolph Ziggler and Bo Dallas.


- At this time, it appears that Hulk Hogan may be involved some way at Summerslam. Hogan is booked for the August 11th edition of Monday Night Raw, which is the go home show for the PPV. Word is that there will be an angle on that show to set up Hogan's involvement in the Summerslam PPV.

Opinionated View- The IC tire match sounds awful. I want don't want to see Hogan in a angle because that just sounds like a reason for Hogan to beat up some young heel.

Title Match Set For Main Event, Bray Wyatt on Smackdown

Bad News Barrett defending the WWE Intercontinental Championship against Rob Van Dam in a rematch from Payback will headline tomorrow night's 6/3 WWE Main Event live on the WWE Network from Cincinnati. The show airs live at 8:00 p.m. Eastern (7:00 CT).

WWE is advertising that Bray Wyatt will return on Smackdown this Friday (6/6) on Syfy. This will be taped on Tuesday night in Cincinnati, Ohio and is the only thing announced so far.

Details on Original Plans to Have Cesaro Win the Intercontinental Title

The Wrestling Observer reports that there was a plan in place for Cesaro to win the WWE Intercontinental title from Bad News Barrett at one point. However, WWE switched programs for Cesaro as he is now going against Sheamus for the United States title. WWE officials reportedly believed that it would hurt Cesaro to go after the Intercontinental belt and felt that Sheamus was a more viable opponent for Cesaro. There is no word on if this will affect the outcome of Cesaro's match with Sheamus on Sunday at Payback.

Opinionated View- Well here is an idea they could have let him win that tournament for the shot at the IC title. You know back when he had momentum.

Talk of Unifying US and Intercontinental Titles Comes Up Again

- F4WOnline.com reports that there have been discussions, yet again, in the WWE to unify the Intercontinental and US titles. However, with WWE gearing up for a European tour, with Bad News Barrett and Sheamus both holding titles, there may be more rumor than truth to the story as of now.

Opinionated View- The problem is even if they do get down to just one championship they will still book that one title awfully. Want proof look at the tag titles!

Why Did WWE Decide To Have an IC Title Contender's Tournamen

- The original plans for RAW didn't include a tournament to decide the #1 contender for the WWE Intercontinental Championship. The first round matches took place because WWE didn't get good news about the recovery time of Christian. Christian suffered a concussion several weeks ago and hasn't received clearance to return. WWE had planned a feud between Christian and Big E but had to change plans due to the injury.
