Flashback Review FIP Fallout Night 2

FIP wasted no time in cashing in on the CM Punk vs Homicide rematch. Normally you don't want to rush but Punk vs Cide was a sure thing and for the young company it made sense. Remember FIP and ROH both relied a lot of DVD sales at this point so begin able put two two ROH guys on  DVD cover could move a few units. Also this wold be a key show in a number of ways guys that would be FIP stables either became regulars or made there debut.

Lenny Leonard again welcomes us to the show. They are back in the same nightclub from the night before. But again I would rather early on a company run small venues they can fill rather than large videos. Don Juan came out saying he was in bad mode because Angel didn't give him any because she was upset after spanked the night before. Not a good promo the guy just didn't click.

Don Juan vs Mikey Batts- Juan said he would take Batts, girl, his sister, and his mother. Juan bails out but Batts follows him out and hits some chops. Juan with a back breaker that clearly never hits the knee. Batts with a sunset flip off the shoulders. Batts with the rocker dropper. Juan catches Batts on a rana attempt and hits a sit-down power bomb. Finally Batts hits a sunset flip bomb for a win. One of those opening matches you forget about as soon as its over.

Erick Stevens vs Kahagas- Stevens would go to be one of the key guys in FIP history. At one point I thought he was best up and comer on indy scene and had potential to make a run at the ROH world title maybe even go onto big things in WWE or TNA. Sadly that never happened  I feel like he was the poster child of Gabe's burned out booking dumb ideas. Also for this match he hasn't gotten his trademark look of a mo hawk down and a good body build here he looked a little heavy and had a buzz cut so he just kind of look generic. Speaking of generic Kahagas is back he was in the FIP title tournament and that's it. Big chops by Kahagas. Rana by Kahagas. Stevens catches Kahagas with on a leap frog and slams him down. Stevens with a back senton gets two. Kahagas wins after some cutter where he picks Stevens up via a dragon sleeper. Problem is on a bigger guy like Stevens it just kind of looked strange since he struggled to get him up. As I said Stevens would go on to become a top guy in FIP but this was was another fogetable match.

Jared Steel vs Antonio Banks- Both these guys had lost the night before and both were among the bigger guys in FIP. Banks with a series of takedowns into pinning combos. Steele powers out of a headlock and hits a arm drag. Banks traps the leg and arm for a submission. Steele uses his free arm to punch free. Nultey talks about the legit hard time Banks did and how he has made something of his life. Banks with a lariat that would make Stan Hansen proud. Steel with a spine buster and than a lion fault pretty impressive for a guy that was about 250. Banks with a big spin kick wins. Pretty decent power match. Wish it had little more time Steel again looked good and it was no shock Banks would go to work for WWE, New Japan and TNA.

911 Inc Mike Shane and Rod Steel with Ron Niemi vs Double Deuce Marcus Dillion and Frankie Caponi  - Mike Shane normally tag with his Twin Brother Todd and they worked for the XWF and the WWE (The Gymini) but he was out injured for this show. Shane and Caponi start us off Double Deuce had a real generic look slicked back black hair and purple singlets. Shane with a big shoulder tackle but misses the elbow. Dillion tags in and hits Shane who is in in an fogettablearm ringer. Steel gets taken down and bails out to drink a beer. Cheap shot by Shane allow Steel take take over. Tag back to Frankie  exchanges of punches. Shane with abdominal stretch than a switch with Steel. Frankie tries a hip toss on Shane but he's not powerful enough to take "Vanilla Guerrilla" down. Steel with another abdominal stretch and the ref checks the arm of Capon? I get the idea is any submission could be so painful that the guy could pass out but come on it's a move that works the abs not a choke that cuts off blood flow. Dillion back in half ass spin buster followed by sloppy looking slam. Spear by Dillion on Steel gets the win boring match nothing really of value.

Strong Style Challenge BJ Whitmer vs Roderick Strong- BJ again runs down Florida for cheap heat. Roderick says he's the best talent in Florida. I have no idea why this is being billed as a Strong Style challenge they didn't' mention any special rules. I get Strong and Whitmer can fit into "strong style" but again a lot guys in the indy scene could. Why not just it as Whitmer vs Strong? Lockup to start Whitmer with a clean break.  Another lock up clean break by Strong. Strong with an arm drag. Exchange of arm wringers  and wrist locks its  some pretty good exchanges. BJ goes heel going to the eyes on a break. Strong with the big chops but BJ fires back with some of his own . Whitmer with a head lock takedown into a good looking headlock a lot of guys hold it to lose not Whitmer. Whitmer sends Strong to the apron and brings him with a neck breaker off the second rope. Whitmer chokes Strong on the ropes working over his neck. Strong has that bad habit of yelling "Ahhhh Ahhhh Ahhhh" non stop when trying to sell something. We get in Strong your in pain but your not dying. Great looking snap suplex by Whitmer. Strong goes for the missile dropkick but BJ steps out of the way. Nultey says it to Strong being off because of how much punishment he has taken. Strong trying to break with elbows but Whitmer goes to the eyes. Strong ducks a clothesline and hits a back breaker putting both men down. Strong with a series of strikes ending in a dropkick than a bother backbreaker. Whitmer reverse a waste lock into a German Suplex. BJ rolls through for Dragon suplex but Strong escapes and gets a victory roll for two. Whitmer with a leap frog but Strong catches him and I'm not sure if Strong couldn't handle the weight or if BJ was tick off but they just kind of fall awkwardly to the floor. Strong pulls BJ up and hits the gut buster for the win. Very good match even with the botch. Not shocking given the two guys in it. BJ always gave and good match and Strong as I often say I don't see Strong as main eventer but he's a good wrestler fine for a mid card match.

Before the four way fray The New Dawn made there entrances. Punk runs down Florida. He tells the fans he hopes the brought there running shoes on since he is going to kick Homicide's ass all over the building and any where he has to in there falls count anywhere match. Punk declares his man Azrieal has this match handled before leaving. Rainman came out and said Azrieal was going to pay for the night before. Maff declared he was a bad man he would whop "each and everyone of you guys asses."

Four Way Fray
Azrieal vs Sal Rinauro vs Dan Maff vs Rainman-  All four men in at once elimination rules. Both Maff and Rainman had wrestled and lost to Punk. While Rainman had issues with the New Dawn going back to the first shows.Maff goes right after Azrieal after the events of night one. Maff with a sit out power bomb. Sal hits Rainman with a clothesline off the top rope. Sal and Azrieal badly miss time a charing int the boot spot. Azrieal with a back breaker goes for a pin on Sal and Maff breaks it up witch again makes no sense given the rules and also wound't Maff want less people out there so he could go after Punk's lackey. Burning Hammer on Sal by Maff takes out Sal. I hate that Maff used that as his regular finisher. Now Maff always did it well but the Burning Hammer is a very dangerous move and it's a special move the inventor the great Kenta Kobashi only did a handful of times. Now I get most moves in the wrestling business just done but I do feel certain moves should protected and Hammer is one. But hey at least Maff did it well unlike freaking McCool and he botchy Styles Clash or Angles wings. I think Prazak just orgasmed watching Maff do that move. Azrieal soon released he was left alone with two guys that hated him. Rainman and Maff teamed up on the New Dawn member. Rainman with a great looking snap powerslam.  Full nelson Slam by Maff. Pump handle bomb by Rainman but Maff takes out Rainman so he can pin Azrieal. Maff picks up a stool and hits Rainman right in front of the referee. Ok this was not no DQ why does this keep happening in companies Gabe booked? Maff with a release German Suplex gets two. Half nelson suplex Maff again gets two. Maff misses the cannonball. Rainman starts to rally back with a dropkick and a back body drop. Rainman with the Darkcity Street Cutter gets two. Rainman misses the shining wizard but comes back with a dropkick to the head and than a second rope moonsault. Sloppy clothesline by Maff. Another Dark City Street Cutter. Ok match I don't like Rainman using a move he already hit as the finish. Seems like they are trying to get Rainman over as a guy that takes a beating but finds a way to comeback and win.

DP Associates made there entrances. Prazak calls Clark and Dragon foolish for not joining DP and declared his team would be the most dominated tag team in FIP. Jerrelle Clark said it was pointless time.

DP Associates Jimmy Rave & Fast Eddie Vegas with Dave Prazak vs Insane Dragon and Jerrelle Clark- Rave and Clark start us off. They don't do anything of note before tagging into there partners. Dragon with a nice series of holds takes down Vegas but Vegas lands a good looking northern lights suplex. Rave in and works a headlock on Insane Dragon.  Dragon escapes and works a front face lock and tag Clark. They do a spot where Clark works a hammer lock and Rave is reaching out for a tag but it's clear he's no where near his corner so it just makes Rave look really stupid. Rave drives Clark to the corner and doesn't break clean allowing to tag Vegas. Clark with a series of arm drags on Rave at one point. Seems string he never makes an effort to tag while he has control. Another strange spot where Rave and Vegas keep locking up by mistake when they go to punch. Finally the heels bail out to consult with Prazak. Finally a tag to Insane Dragon. Lung blower by Vegas on Dragon. . Nice running knee by Rave that was always one of his better moves. High Low by Rave and Vegas. Dragon plays the face in peril forever to the point it just grinds on and on. I get you have to do it in tag matches but there is a point of going way to long with it. Sloppy head scissors by Dragon takes down Vegas. Hot tag to Clark who comes in as a house of fire. Dragon and Clark hit the Death Sentence 630 but Rave pulls the legal Clark out of the ring saving the match. Clark and Rave the legal men fight on the outside. Tombstone pile driver  by Vegas on Dragon. Brain buster power bomb by Clark on Vegas. Clark nails Dragon by mistake. Dragon kicks his partner. Rave and Vegas hit a few moves and than pin Clark for the win. DP Associates stomp on Clark and than Dragon joins in. Suddenly the faces fro the back come out to run off DP. This match was boring as hell Rave was just learning to be a heel and the 3 other guys never really clicked for me and it was way way to long. Other matches could have been given more time but instead they gave 20 mins to this.

CM Punk came out and repeated his earlier threats. Homicide said the match was going to the streets and they weren't coming back here.

FIP Heavyweight Championship Falls Count Anywhere Homicide © vs CM Punk- Again this was a rematch of the FIP tittle tournament finals which had turned into a wild brawl that spilled outside of the building so Fall Count Anywhere made sense. No most Falls County Anywhere matches start in the ring got to the outside for a while than return to the ring for the finish. I think the reason it happens is the fans at the event want to see the match end and don't want to see a match end in a hallway but  it feel returning to the ring more often than not takes away the stipulation. I also understand in a packed arena its hard to wrestle with so many people that could get in the way. The good news if FIP once again took advantage of the smaller crowed and had them follow the guys guys around. The bad news FIP kept up with the Mobile Studio stuff from the first shows and base off of comments made implied that the announcers were following Homicide and Punk around in some type of vehicle. Just lie and claim you are getting the feed on a monitor. Punk in control early on but Homicide with a big back elbow. Homicide goes for a pile driver but Azrieal runs out and makes a save. The New Dawn chokes Homicide. Rainman runs out and takes out Azrieal. Punk lands in a chair at ringside and takes a big chop. Homicide takes a beer bottle and smacks Punk with it. They fight onto a stage in the club and Homicide tosses Punk off it and Punk Smacks the ring. Punk gets  a near fall on a pool table. Homicide puts a trashcan over Punk's head. Brawl to the outside of the building. Punk goes to crouch Homicide on a rail but Cide slips off the side. Punk climbs up the ring truck and I want to make this clear it's not a truck like a Dodge Ram or Ford Ranger its a rental truck from Ryder. Homicide follows and they fight on top of it. Cide with a short am lariat and covers. Small problem on the cover given the angle of the camera shot we can no longer see what is going on. Oh Punk with a DDT on top of the truck another cover and again we can't see. The fight spills back down to the ground. Fight spills around to another side of the building and over to strip club. We can see cars driving by and I guess they got lucky as no one called the cops. Homicide takes a back body drop on the concert for two. Jump cut later we are fighting into the strip club. Another jump cut.  Punk and Homicide fight not the stage. Punk uses the pole for a kick that gets two. one stripper is one stage and she just looks confused and than she blocks the camera view. Punk gets distracted watching the strippers.  Fight spills into the Boom Boom room. Another freaking jump cut. I have to assume there was some guerrilla filmmaking involved and the camera guy just had to run around to get a shot so the edited it out but it just looks strange. Fight spills back on the stage and now Homicide watches the girls. Another jump cut and they are back on the outside just as Homicide hits a pile driver on the concert for the win.  We close with Homicide getting handed the belt as he watches the strippers. This match has gotten a lot of praise over the years for being so different and I give them credit for that but I think the match is over rated. The jump cuts hurt it and you can Punk and Homicide are holding back not wanting to hurt themselves.

Fallout Night Two makes some strange calls I don't know why they gave so much time to the most boring match on the card the DP vs Dragon and Clark match. Another problem from Emergence that hung around was talking so much about "Down the line." It seemed like every match we heard something like "FIP has guys like Samoa Joe, James Gibson, Bryan Danielson lined up." I get wanting to have people excited about the DVD coming up but by hyping those upcoming shows so much you send the message I should have skipped this DVD and bought the Florida Rumble instead. Another DVD you can skip.
